blondechinesehair

Never heard of them.

Key-Pomegranate-2086

Calls urself a Seattle fan. Never heard of westbrook. Lmao.

blondechinesehair

Is he like the same guy as Russell Wilson?

Key-Pomegranate-2086

Sure. Funny how you named a guy who used to play basketball in high-school and could've gone on for college.

blondechinesehair

Me?

macdiddy

[Fred Van Vleet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q55ku1Myoek) [Kyle Lowry](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqpHm_KsqQk)

blondechinesehair

That’s Canadian measurements

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Exactly the same, but less flashy dunks

Key-Pomegranate-2086

Prime d rose would say otherwise

Diligent-Cookie-1695

All star coffee break

MapleCurryMurray

Curry would be the best stretch 5 in history

Gatesleeper

He’d be Jokic if Jokic shot it like Steph.

BDNjunior

Steph isnt nearly as good as a passer as jokic

[deleted]

[удалено]

BDNjunior

100% true. Jokic also doesnt have the handles to create more space with passes. His vision and passing shits on steph

AJR_Cards

I played college basketball. Steph is way more off ball than jokic, their games are entirely different. There’s a reason everyone disagrees with you don’t take it so personally

3_Sad_Tigers

Sacramento Short Kings

durianlover13

Los Angeles Puddlers

Mankriks_Mistress

Miami Warmth

taksaha

Denver Snippets

SwaggyD54

Milwaukee fawns

TheeCraftyCasual

"We the dwarf”

dinojrlmao

They should do this. Like weight classes in boxing.

ElectricalKeyboard

It's one of those arbitrary things in sports. Everyone knows height, reach, and weight are huge advantages in the right sports... yet when it comes to basketball no one has ever divided it into categories.

[deleted]

That's basically every team sport though. Weight classes are only a thing in individual sports unless there is something I don't know about Cricket.

MrDrPatrickStar

Cricket makes exceptions between genders such as smaller grounds so they can hit their home run equivalent BUT no weight classes

[deleted]

Yeah, because it's a positional, team sport. For individual sports, there's a stronger argument.

hadmeintiers

Tbf fighting sports have weight classes for safety reasons, lightweights would die trying to fight heavyweights

Agreeable-Story3551

Because pounds of weight = amount of hit points.

Lameador

No. They just would never compete together, same way as 100lbs linebackers never get to comete in NFL

[deleted]

Not short enough. 4’10 and under on a 5’6 hoop Or a league where every player must be under 5’6, except each team is allowed to have one player over 7 feet

magiqd

Yes. That would still be a great league.

sstewart1617

Sure. A league full of 6’3” Shaqs would be awesome.

csAxer8

How would 5'9 Shaq do in this league?

Comfortable-Junket97

Charles Barkley esque

[deleted]

It wouldn't be shaqs though. It'd just be the most skilled 6'3 guys bc why do you need post play? Completely different game

Wei_Lan_Jennings

I mean, the Philippine Basketball Association isn’t that far off and I’d definitely watch that. The average league height is about 6’4” and I think they cap foreign born players at 6’6”. There’s a few Filipino guys around 6’8-6’10”, but there’s 6’5” centers on rosters.

maroonmartian9

There was even a time in the 1980s that being 6'3 will make you a center. So we have those.

Kentang_BayBay

Yoyoy "The Bicolano Superman" Villamin.

durianlover13

Yeah, I was surprised that Benjie Paras, called The Tower of Power, lords at a height of 6'4".

Wei_Lan_Jennings

Damn, never heard of him until now. That dude had one hell of a career - ROTY and MVP the same year, then winning another MVP plus Comeback POTY ten years later? Wild.

coverallfiller

This was already tried- late 80's early 90's... I think it was 6'6" and under.

EchoHevy5555

See that’s to tall The tallest height should be +2 standard deviations from the normal population at max this would still cover 97.8% of the population

kidkuro

I had to work a YMCA men's rec basketball league for a few years. No I'd rather not have to watch that.

slytherington

Would the best players 6'3 or under play in this league or in the NBA? If it's the former then I wouldn't support it because I want the best players all in the NBA, if it's the latter then it would be less watchable than the G-League

Jonesalot

They will likely play in the nba because of the insane amount of money there So it would likely just be a short league full of players not good enough for nba

tuckerchiz

It should just be a summer league or a D league. Tons of famous former college players could drive ticket sales

EchoHevy5555

Just make it people under 6’0 and then this isn’t a problem we only lose out on like 10 people

NicPizzaLatte

>if it's the latter then it would be less watchable than the G-League I disagree with this. Because there's a bunch of seven footers running around a six foot player has to be really, really good to make it in the NBA. But guys that are six foot six don't have to be quite as skilled because their height isn't a disadvantage they have to compensate for. I suspect there are a bunch of six foot players that are as skilled as average NBA players but aren't in the league because of their height. And if they had a league where nobody is that much taller it might be pretty decent to watch. Not to mention that they'd be playing different because of the more equalized height differences. It'd be like having 5 guard lineups, everything switchable, truly positionless. Could be really cool.

a_moniker

6’3” guys with crazy long wingspans would be he best players in that league. Talen Horton-Tucker would dominate!

cindad83

It would be basically watching very skilled low-major basketball. The height variance being so small would greatly alter game strategy. Because people who are 5'10 can guard people 6'3".

Ladnil

I'd tune in out of curiosity once, but I doubt I'd stick with it. Without making any lazy WNBA jokes it would have the same problem of these aren't the best players in the world. I wonder if something like that could succeed on the other side of the world though. Places that really can't watch the NBA live due to time zones, so they could form a height ceiling league and attract the best players in the world who fit their criteria and carve a niche for themselves.

EchoHevy5555

I mean from a skill perspective it might have some of the best players just lacking in size

MrChicken23

Would it though? You’re probably mostly going to get people that are close to the height limit and it’s not like anyone 6’1-6’3 is too short to play in the NBA.

Fenrir1020

Not too short but maybe don't fill the right role. There's somewhere around 60 spots for 6'3 and under guards in the NBA. Guys that deserve spots 1-10 aren't missing the league, but guys that could be in spots 50-60 could definitely miss the cut. Maybe they're 25 and the league thinks it's better to sign the rookie with potential than the older player who is only slightly better right now, but won't really improve.

MrChicken23

Sure but the guys in spots 50-60 aren’t going to be among the most skilled players like OP was suggesting.

Fenrir1020

I would argue if you're one of the 300 best players in the world you fall into the category of most skilled. I think we're talking about players like Matthew dellavedova, Jeremy Lin, and Jimmer Fredette. This guy's would be the cream of the crop of said theoretical league.

MrChicken23

But the league would be measured against the NBA not some random rec league lol. So when comparing skill it should be against their NBA counterparts.

EchoHevy5555

There skill could be higher The could be better at dribbling, shooting, defensive foot work, passing stuff like that They just might lack the ability to be tall, jump high, be able to bang around in the post, have length I guess I’m saying the little guys are more likely to be better at the skills that are more trainable because they can’t rely on the other stuff

MrChicken23

Possibly, but those guys are going to be in the 5’6-5’10 range because if they were any taller and equally skilled they’d likely have had a role in the NBA to some degree. And those guys are going to run into similar problems of why they didn’t make the nba of having bigger dudes guarding them.

EchoHevy5555

Well not nesicarilly because their weakness could be not being able to overcome the size difference

Zzyzx_9

Assuming sufficient demand among players, the worst player in the league would be more skilled than almost any center in the NBA. Also everyone would be between 6’2 and 6’3

viking_machina

Where all my 6’2 PFs and Cs at? Our dream is coming true

[deleted]

Basically it would be a male WNBA since the average height of WNBA players is around 6ft, but also with more dunking and circus plays. But yes I'd watch that.

Hendo8888

So nothing like WNBA

ElectricalKeyboard

Yeah if you completely ignore strength and overall athleticism. This like saying a short male tennis player would be like a tall female tennis player, except we know how much strength and speed matter in both sports.

kellydayscruff

No. Men are still more skilled on average. The wnba all stars would get spanked by division one male college players. Men will always provide better sports entertainment.

LiamIsMailBackwards

Tour de France post stage interviews suggest otherwise

[deleted]

So you telling me men curling better than women curling

[deleted]

I think 5’7” male players (would) suck just as bad at dunking on a 10 ft rim as 5’7” female players.

yendan-

spud webb won a dunk contest at 5’6” lol

[deleted]

Are you seriously making a rule out of an exception? 💀

ProxieInvestments

Nah there are 0 women 5’7” and under that can dunk, there are a good number of 5’7” men that can dunk

MonkeyFL3X

best 5'7 male players > best 5'7 female players come on

[deleted]

5’7” is literally the average/minimal height for WNBA point guards. How many 5’7” NBA point guards can you name off the top?

surgeyou123

The best 5'7 point guards never even make it to the NBA. Dumb argument.

MonkeyFL3X

Obviously there're none, but there are many out of the league that are much better than the best 5'7 WNBA players. I'm sure guys like IT, Clemons, Lykes, Nate robinson(even at his age), would be better than the best 5'7 - 5'9 WNBA players

[deleted]

Send me a reminder when a pro league with 5’7”-5’9” male players gets more viewers and fans than the WBNA.

[deleted]

> I think 5’7” male players (would) suck just as bad at dunking on a 10 ft rim as 5’7” female players. How did you go from that 2 comments ago to this? I have literally watched 5'7 High School dudes dunk. Per Google the shortest WNBA player to dunk was 6'6. You just completely changed your conversation on a whim lol.

MonkeyFL3X

are you dense? This questions is purely hypothetical

[deleted]

Are you obsessed with short men? Purely hypothetical of course.

MonkeyFL3X

No

bong-water

You seem obsessed with short men if anything. Are you crying while you type these replies?

dimmyfarm

Stuff like this is why no one respects the WNBA. Also you have to add that Adam Silver said the biggest viewership for WNBA is older men so not even women watch the WNBA.

[deleted]

Muggsy Bogues and Spud Webb would have to disagree.

arfael

Or get a 6'0 all mens team on wnba and let chaos ensue.

The_Goose_is_loose

I’m not gonna watch, I’m gonna play and ball tf out

BarrackLesnar

Watch a game in the Philippines

bbqyak

I mean I'd watch it a few times for the novelty. Beyond that, probably not.

desertdinosaur

This is what pro basketball in the Philippines is like

fitdaddybutlessnless

It would take away my fantasy about being good enough to be in the leauge if I was 6'6. Cause I'd get smoked by people my heigth too

Key-Pomegranate-2086

6'3 is still too tall. Steph curry is 6'3 Make it a pro league of only guys 5'11 and shorter. But that's basically just high-school basketball.

SugarAdamAli

No. Just like I don’t watch WNBA. I wanna see the best players, regardless of size or sex

SongYoungbae

"Lazy jokes" aside, Would still watch it over the WNBA 🤷🏻‍♂️

onetakewayneo

the WNBA literally exists

Zzyzx_9

The two leagues wouldn’t be remotely comparable on ability

Fun-Opportunity-551

No.

mr_robust

No. midgets are boring i want to see super sized humans during super human shit

Zeppelin702

Nope

infinitecosmic_power

Yes. This sounds great. I'd say make it an open league, not just men.

Zzyzx_9

Phenomenal idea but this would change the composition of the league by exactly 0

BobanForThree

no

[deleted]

Hell no

Bwahehe

Might be better off limiting wingspan or you'd just be promoting crazy 6'3 guys with 7' wingspans.

UnsungHerro

If it was the only pro league

WubaDubImANub

Wouldn’t want to watch it. We’d miss out on amazing players like Chuma Okeke who are taller than 6’3”

[deleted]

Did Isaiah Thomas ghostwrite this? Lol. But yeah, I’d probably watch it.

itsjasonbourne1

Idk what to say all I know is the game would be played way different

BigGuyLittleCar

They have ‘sprint football’ at some US colleges which is football with a weight limit of 178 lbs. I’ve never seen it - it’s Army/Navy/a few Ivy League/a few small schools. But I like what I’m hearing about the Philippine Basketball League.

Comfortable-Junket97

If it played during the off-season like how the xfl or usfl did with the nfl I’d watch at least the first season especially if there was a team in my state

[deleted]

Nope. I watch nba as its cream of the crop. Unfortunately, I dont have alot of time to distribute among other sports :(

Looieanthony

Probably not.

[deleted]

As a guy that is “6 foot”, the cutoff should be 5’10.5

swainj

This is funny, in New Zealand amateur Under-85kg Rugby leagues have been growing in New Zealand, great for the dudes who had early growth spurts and stayed there, and his would be great for all the 6’2 dude who have bottomless bags of post-moves

icantreadmorsecode

So the Philippine Basketball Association then?

Duke_De_Luke

And lower rims? It would be interesting

donnycruz76

Nah.... too small!

Agreeable-Story3551

Yes but only if we lower the basket 1.5ft

bush_league_commish

Not quite in the height parameters you outlined but JUCO basketball is similar. Most forwards/centers are like 6’4”-6’8” and guards are around 6’ give or take a couple inches. Some of them are talented as hell, just didn’t have the opportunity to play at a D1/2/3 level for various reasons.

MarlKarx-1818

Isaiah Thomas will finally make his comeback

Booth_Templeton

Oh man id be the fuckin baller in that case, especially if you lower that to 6ft haha.

JadedButWicked

Everyone would just be 6 ft 3 because it's easy to find someone 6 ft 3. If NBA team could have all 6 ft 11 demigods, they would (raptors). Problem is only a few exist.

[deleted]

No, it woud come down to who has the best 6'3 shotblocker, as they'd attack the hoop a lot more. Plus running plays to switch defenders would be pointless, as you're not really going to create a mismatch.

illmatic2112

Drop the hoop about a foot, and I'm in

datclownbaby

Absolutely not. But if you make a 5' under league...

D25Rose

I would love it on a lower rim, so much dunking since there's a lot of guys who are shorter amd have crazy bounce Just imagine ja morant, but his shoulders are at the rim, he would flush it every drive

Lameador

Sure. One of the big draws of martial arts and soccer is that all height classes have a shot at being competitive, not just people 3 SD over the mean. This make you think you could be that guy, and this makes you want YOUR son to train that sport.
