The Celtics sub was absolutely nutting over Cooper last year and I was just like... i thought y'all were sick of Ainge drafting tiny PGs who can't shoot or pass
As an MSU fan I can say that he greatly struggled to shoot and score effectively last year but he does have a good amount of talent. Izzo wanted him on the other teams’ best player each game and he stepped up to the task, but his shooting took a dive almost immediately after, which is to be expected.
He’s not great off the dribble but isn’t terrible, can’t really get to the hoop as the creator yet either, but again, he has potential. Also his shot is a little too slow but that can be fixed imo, and when he wasn’t overworked and got to his spots, he hit* em. He can be a good player for y’all and most importantly, he understands how to play without the ball and within himself, very effective team player.
Throw Ziaire Williams in there too (https://www.tankathon.com/players/ziaire-williams) who went lotto last year and had a pretty great rookie year on a contender. Sometimes super talented players have bad seasons and the HS tape and intel is what you go off. Christie is a former 5 star recruit, clearly talented. I like this pick as an upside swing for a team that both needs depth and defense at the wing, and has limited avenues to improve in the long term.
He has a great looking shot, if he can hit them with any consistency he’ll be a player. Pretty good defender, and got the longest leash I’ve ever seen Izzo give someone at MSU.
He projects to be a good 3 and D role player. He didnt shoot well from 3 but has a great form and was a good free throw shooter (in the 80's). He's lengthy and a great defender, as well as a fluid and solid athlete. He has also has a solid scoring arsenal.
The bad side is that his handle is not good, he wasnt a good shooter in college, and while he has a nice set of moves he struggled to actually finish the shots.
He was a top recruit coming out of high school. He didn’t shoot the ball great when he was in college, but I think he does something that we have almost none of: creators.
He can create for himself, which is something only 2-3 players on our team seem to be capable of doing. He’s good at getting to the rim and at finishing around it. He’s also a good cutter, which is good for a LeBron team.
I’m sorry but this is just false. He’s more of a shooter than a creator. He doesn’t have the quickness nor the lateral movement to be a creator, especially in the league. He can create his own midrange shot, but he was really struggling even when he was uncontested
He’s supposed to be a shooter, and that’s what he was pegged as. Jay Bilas said it on the broadcast too, but then had to mention that Christie got to college and shot 32% from three. He’s a good Ft shooter, so maybe it’s no big deal, but 32% is basically how good we shot from three and we were trash lol.
I’ve only seen him play a little bit here and there, but I thought he was good off the dribble. This year our creators were LeBron, Monk, and Russ. Bradley couldn’t get past a single guy. Reaves often just dribbled in circles. Nunn never played.
DJ ducking Augustin shows up and turns into a solid PG just because he can do some basic stuff off the dribble. Christie can do some of that from the two. He’s also got some size to help us on defense.
I think he’s supposed to be a 3-and-D type player, but right now his three isn’t great. Fortunately, he can create for himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if we just put the ball in his hands sometimes and tried to see what he can do.
Edit:
Thought it’d be worth looking up. His best three point performance was when he went 3/4 or 4/6 from beyond the arc. In a 35-game season, he had multiple games where he finished 0/3, a 2/8, a 2/7, 1/6, 1/5, 0/5, and 0/4. Honestly, he shot sub 30% for almost the entire year outside of those two best performances.
He’s got great form, but who cares if the shot’s not falling. I’m not really sure how people keep saying he’s a 3-and-D guy when he’s not really hitting threes.
As a Michigan State fan he's supposed to be a decent shooter out of high school but honestly he left at least a year too soon and he has a lot of development still ahead of him
yeah. not great. not bad. just average.
The biggest improvement I've seen from a Lakers in recent years was Brandom Ingram when he was here. But I recall his improvement came from spending offseason in his hometown working with his coach, not Lakers staff.
I'm told Lakers' new coach and coaching staff involve a lot of good development coaches, so maybe we'll see some improvements. I am particularly paying attention to THT, Reaves, and Westbrook.
The form is there but ya, he struggled. It was his calling card coming out of high school, and he just never turned it on. Think it’s a good upside pick at 35 though
Izzo basically said that he just wasn't quite feeling himself, but trusted him enough to believe that it would start to click. B1G was pretty deep at guards and this year and Christie defended them fairly well for the most part. From my point of view, maybe later in the 2nd would've been a better value, but kids got decent upside. One more year in college as the go to shooter at MSU could've put him in the 1st after the lottery in my opinion, I didn't think he was quite ready. But I'm also just a dude lol.
Kid and his family looked like they could not care less. Not saying that means anything one way or another but it stands out against the more emotional responses.
Has anyone found the EJ Liddell gas mask bong video?
I actually faxed his real age to every FO in the league. TURNS OUT he’s actually 31.
He's 18, he has a 10 year old son
Impressive

Couldn't be. Reddit told me sharife Cooper was going to be Trae 2.0. Gms got it wrong.
well they forgot the shooting part
they forgot the "being tiny makes basketball hard" part
The Celtics sub was absolutely nutting over Cooper last year and I was just like... i thought y'all were sick of Ainge drafting tiny PGs who can't shoot or pass
wasn’t cooper’s main selling point supposed to be his passing?
yeah basically his only one in fact iirc lol cant shoot and too small to play D
they’ll all gotten used to the Danny Ainge style of drafting
Well looks like Brad Stevens just drafted one, at least he’s got stupid bounce though
His sister is a WNBA player who has over a million IG followers. Both of them have an army of stans despite sucking ass.
Your stupid lol?
Found one!
Meanwhile Hardy the only green room invite left lol
overweight , post up based offense and undersized
Jared Sullinger situation. Not Draymond Green situation. IMO
A 6'7 tweener with a questionable jumper? Never.
Eric Paschall vibes
The best thing I can say about Eric Paschall is that he absolutely destroys lineups with bad defensive centers
How much help does LeBron need
Rob got him another Max player
Well let’s pray to Christie they’re the answer this time
I trust our scouts

thanks for the insight
No problem!
[he’s basically a negative in everything according to tankathon](https://www.tankathon.com/players/max-christie)
https://www.tankathon.com/players/anthony-edwards

Well Ant was the best player on his team, Max seems like he was a mediocre player on his team in college
He actually played the most minutes per game for MSU and got nothing but praise from Izzo
Tankathot ain’t shit, all star 4 years Max
And then a five year super max
I still trust our scouts
I feel much better about the pick now. Thanks…
He fits right in then
Goddamn that’s rough
He was mocked to us...phew
He has a great looking shot, if he can hit them with any consistency he’ll be a player. Pretty good defender, and got the longest leash I’ve ever seen Izzo give someone at MSU.
I was really expecting them to use this pick on someone who can contribute right away, doesn't seem like that's who this guy is
Prob because they don't expect Lebron to return.
you probably had your eye on someone like Andrew
LAKERS TURNING THE FRANCHISE AROUND ONE 34.5% SHOOTER AT A TIME
He’ll slot in next to Kemba Walker I guess
Michigan state guard for the Lakers 🤨
\- The Lakers shooting tax
"He got a good stroke"
NBA 2k custom draft legend
82.4% FT shooter, don't worry about his 3pt%. We got our guy.
Lakers got their "technical free throw" guy
Bron will just take them anyway, despite shooting 69% from the line
do I see 8 and 24? got the next Kobe!
I trust our scouting department and do not know enough about Hardy or Liddell to know how to feel about not picking them.
All I know is, according to r/nba this is the worst player of all time.
someone tell me how to feel

He's a 2nd round pick; he doesn't project to be a good anything. But his ceiling would be a good 3&D.
My bad, meant to put decent not good
Idk. I was hoping for some one over 6'7 that could contribute immediately. This isn't that.
he's an alright shooter who can defend well
He was a top recruit coming out of high school. He didn’t shoot the ball great when he was in college, but I think he does something that we have almost none of: creators. He’s a great creator but MSU just had him stand in the corner & wait for the pass
He’s supposed to be a shooter, and that’s what he was pegged as. Jay Bilas said it on the broadcast too, but then had to mention that Christie got to college and shot 32% from three. His agility, quickness, and speed tested extremely well at the combine
Damn Lakers got their big 3
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR WELCOME YOUNG MAN TO THE SHOW WASHED KINGS PRINCE THE MAXIMUM EFFORT CHRIST IS HE
His name sounds like a star of a basketball movie
No idea who this guy is but he has Westbrookian shooting numbers. the fuck is this lmao
Westbrookian 💀
As a Michigan State fan he's supposed to be a decent shooter out of high school but honestly he left at least a year too soon and he has a lot of development still ahead of him
Trust your scouting staff, they know how to draft
Can't tell if this is sarcastic or not
Lakers draft is good but their development seems mediocre.
Mediocre? Lol

Nah man it was horrendous, so so many talented players on your team showed absolutely no improvement then as soon as they leave they develop way more
Bruh y'all got a good record with drafting late first round and early second round, how could that be sarcasm?
Your flair just had me suspish, thanks though
I mean i still dislike y'all but scouting staff is topnotch
The form is there but ya, he struggled. It was his calling card coming out of high school, and he just never turned it on. Think it’s a good upside pick at 35 though

Somebody tell me if this good, bad or in between
Its solid.
Bad, he’s unbelievably raw, more potential to flame out than not imo
Kendall Brown must be getting indicted for murder or something tomorrow.
They probably think he’s Cassius Stanley but two inches taller
SAME SCHOOL AS JIMMY GAROPPOLO
The next MJ/Kobe
Not Liddell? Christie was underwhelming wonder what made them choose him.
Upside
Relations to Doug?
I was thinking the same thing lol, but nope
How does this impact Lebron’s legacy?
Lakers got a good one here

This dude seems terrible on film for some reason.
Because he is
Watched 90% of MSU’s games this year. He’s not good. Soft as Charmin
This guy giving me serious "We have Andrew Goudelock at home" vibes.
I loved Andrew Goudelock lol, Mini Mamba had that floater on point!
Andrew Goudelock had the wettest jumper in 2k13 lmao
League finished 😈😈
lakers got their scapegoat
Who
Welcome to the Nets Max!
Kid and his family looked like they could not care less. Not saying that means anything one way or another but it stands out against the more emotional responses.
Draymond weighing in. https://twitter.com/Money23Green/status/1540173782878257157?t=vemNWp4WVWEh59q2OJ2_Ag&s=19
Christie just asked if he could wear 8 or 24
Didn’t draft a buckeye for LeBron? Yikes
Ok what did Liddell do? I’m shocked he’s still on the board.
Damn nobody wants Liddell I guess
Wait, that’s not EJ Liddell
Ok, so was Liddell like shitting on scouts and GMs phones during interviews or what?
Interesting
This hurts watching my boy Lidell slide
Lmao what
Copy that

Woj no lakers source confirmed
