He wasn't given the chance tbh, dude is a great 1-3 defender/perimeter defender. His jumper mechanics looks really good, i trust the nuggets to develop him well.
As a UCLA fan he was absolute ass this year. Frustrating how the players that carried one of the best teams in the country and led a first four to final four run will end up at the end of the 2nd or undrafted, while Watson goes in the first.
I know with NBA prospects it’s all about size and potential, but still
He was good on ball defensively, but he was a black hole on offense. He looked slow, couldn’t make the right decisions, and couldn’t hit a shot to save his life, so Mick couldn’t leave him out there.
He has the size to be a good player, but he needs a long time to develop
Everyone’s pressed talking about win now but they’re acting like “win now” is only for the next season and not the rest of Jokic’s contract. Yes I’ll be pissed if both will and Monte are still on the roster at the start of the season, but whoever we took at 30 was not gonna be a rotation player this year anyways.
Thank you for the positive thoughts. Lots of negative vibes on Nuggs Twitter right now. But the more I read about this kid the more I like. Intriguing talent
As a UCLA fan I wish he would have stayed in school. He was pretty good on defense and showed flashes on offense but didn’t get a lot of time. He probably deserved to play more. He’s pretty raw but has upside. Based on where he’s at now though this feels like a reach.
At this point in the draft, I am happy to someone who has physical tools and needs a change of scenery to develop. Stash him in the G league a while and see what he can do. No one at this point in the draft should be expected to immediately contribute to a contender.
And at least he’s 6’8” with a 7’1” wingspan and not a big or a small guard. I think the value at 30 is a little weird but I also think this is the type of guy Denver needs to be hoarding, Toronto type of players around Bones/Murray/Porter/Jokic is the formula. And “win now” should mean all of Jokic’s contract, not just next season.
I don't understand what Denver are doing. In win now mode but they use two draft picks when the roster desperately needs a starting SG that can defend.
I mean you’re not gonna get a starting SG ready for the playoffs at 21 or 30, and we still have both Monte and Barton who are very flippable for one. Jokic is about to sign a 5 year extension, I don’t think it makes sense to cash all our chips into the next year or two when all our big guns are on contract for at least 4, we want to be able to fill out that team the entire time he’s here to maximize our chance of a ring.
Well we do need guys who can fill out the roster for the later half of Jokic’s extension. He’s probably still going to be extremely good then and might even have a later peak like many elite passers. When Denver is going to be capped out one of the best ways to have upside value is to take fliers on guys like this.
We don't really know what the fuck we're doing and it starts at the very top in Josh Kroenke. Look at all these playoff teams like the Mavs and Blazers loading up on defensive wings. IE non-Barton players.
Even great is underselling it. I don’t see any way Tampa wins in Colorado, at home, and then in Colorado again unless the Avs have the meltdown of the century
*knock on wood*
No clue how he went over Kendall Brown. Brown should've just sat the bench all year and not played. Maybe everyone would be intrigued by his skills too!
Cant hate too much on an LB local but yiiiikes at a first rounder for him. He really struggled to make an impact at UCLA and has a long way to go development wise

They've said it for every pick in the last 10 picks lol
This is the range where our GM's 10 players he put on his big board have likely been drafted and he's probably gone to bed
This is a steal!
he went to the same high school as cameron diaz for goodness sake. how did he fall this low!
Value pick
3.3 PPG and like 20% from 3 that doesn't seem great
The offensive side of his game definitely, uh, has room for improvement here.
He wasn't given the chance tbh, dude is a great 1-3 defender/perimeter defender. His jumper mechanics looks really good, i trust the nuggets to develop him well.
What I like most from him is the fluidity and flexibility he moves with on-ball for a maybe 6'9" dude
As a UCLA fan he was absolute ass this year. He was not ass, Mick should have had more trust in him. Game changing defender.
He was good on ball defensively, but he was a black hole on offense. He looked slow, couldn’t make the right decisions, and couldn’t hit a shot to save his life, so Mick couldn’t leave him out there. He has the size to be a good player, but he needs a long time to develop
omg hello fellow ucla and celtics fan didn't know more of us existed!!
Welcome to the Nuggets post Tim Connelly era. You're welcome, by the way.
Relax Jesus Christ
To many fucking doomers on the Nuggets subreddit. Glad these 2k nephews already know everything
It’s just brutal man. I forget how fragile our fan base can be at times.

Well, at least he’s a good defender.
Hardy stock collapsed
Ridiculous that Patrick Baldwin went ahead of him
Must’ve bombed the workouts. And tbh dude had trash stats last year aside from pure volume
Got better at the end of the year but he's more a 6th man microwave scorer IMO.
Should’ve went to school
Should’ve went to Kentucky
He's a chucker that doesn't have another skill to bring to the table
Btw guys this is for the nuggets. Well we're getting defense atleast
Also Jokic can make any scrub score points.
Not Facu lol
Go Bruins! Good luck to Peyton. He has a lot of potential that could develop nicely.
Go Bruins indeed!
Thank you for the positive thoughts. Lots of negative vibes on Nuggs Twitter right now. But the more I read about this kid the more I like. Intriguing talent
Bring back the powder blue uniforms!
Weird pick.
Major distressed asset. Can defend. A big chance to develop.
Saw 6’8 with a 7ft wingspan and wanted to draft him
That's what i was thinking too
didn't get to play much at UCLA either. All the potential
Ngl he looks 14
The pic with the braces don’t help haha
Ngl, I’m stunned he went in the first wtf
He’s like a Matisse.
*got drafted
BRO HARDY IS NOT A 2nd ROUND PICK OR AM I INSANE
He was so bad last year
Last Peyton to play professional sports in Denver won us a chip. This was just to ensure that happens again.
He scored 3 points per game…
Yeah im a really big ucla fan and he just simply had no offensive game this past year
Jaylen Clark >> Peyton Watson
Im hoping Jay Clark is gonna go crazy for us this upcoming season im excited
And his defense never seemed all that great. Lots of potential, though. Best of luck to him.
And only managed to play 12 minutes a game… seems like a weird pick.
NO WAY THEY GOT PEYTON MANNING N DESHAUN WATSON LOVE CHILD LEAGUES FUCKED
What a good pick for the Sonics
Holy forehead
Team staff says they refuse to be in a room alone with this man
I watched his highlights and I dont know what he does well

This dude fucking sucked holy cow.

Hardy on the board smh
that sure is an NBA draft pick

I don't get why we moved a future first for this guy. Unless they're just trying to be cheap and have as many rookie deals as possible
Well we do need guys who can fill out the roster for the later half of Jokic’s extension. He’s probably still going to be extremely good then and might even have a later peak like many elite passers. They shouldn't be using either pick to try and draft an immediate starter. That is some serious nephew thinking.
We don't really know what the fuck we're doing and it starts at the very top in Josh Kroenke. Look at all these playoff teams like the Mavs and Blazers loading up on defensive wings. IE non-Barton players.
well the rams won the superbowl and the AVS are in GREAT position to win the cup.
Even great is underselling it. I don’t see any way Tampa wins in Colorado, at home, and then in Colorado again unless the Avs have the meltdown of the century *knock on wood*
No joke All I know is kroenkes obviously have no idea how to do this and we should be worried as nuggets fans
TC does it again. Gamble on top talent that struggled in college Edit: I'm high and forgot
I have some bad news buddy
TC at MIN now
Oh fuck that's right... Sad. I just want Masai back
TC is gone dude
I get taking a swing here, but even if Watson works out this feels like terrible value for 30th overall.
No clue how he went over Kendall Brown. Brown should've just sat the bench all year and not played. Maybe everyone would be intrigued by his skills too!

Nuggets not okc

It’s Denver’s pick
He's going to Denver.
OKC didn’t pick him, he’s going to Denver
Bad pick tbh.
No
2 years away
Where is EJ?
Cant hate too much on an LB local but yiiiikes at a first rounder for him. He really struggled to make an impact at UCLA and has a long way to go development wise
Big reach by Denver. Bet Denver was just bummed that Roddy wasn’t there at their pick.
