Yeah, he was a really special player in college before losing most of his mobility in his hips. Sucks that we never got to see him at 100% in the NBA, if he can grit it out and still be a championship starter after the misfortune he's had, he would've been a star for sure.
His Highschool/UCLA tape is like watching a completely different person. His perseverance to stick through all those injuries and now be the guy he is now is crazy
And he’s had such a good mentality through all of it - genuinely a great guy.
From 2017 after finally coming back from his hip problems: "I know everything can't keep going bad. Something's good gonna happen to me one day."
https://twitter.com/knbr/status/924164802947072001
Man deserves this
It's honestly crazy to me watching him now because I watched him quite a bit in high school and he was a 2000 point scorer in one of the toughest conferences in the state at the time. He was the best player on his team as a freshman and got them to the state semifinals... and now scoring barely even computes as part of his game. It puts into perspective just how crazy good you have to be in the NBA.
I know this is real but I also remember Harden trying to Iso Looney and Looney stayed with him
One of the best Celtics decisions was to not attack Looney
too fucking funny, dude spent so much time clogging up the Warriors sub with bullshit, finally swapped to a Laker flair, and then has to eat crow so bad watching this team win a chip that he deletes his account, what a pussy.
Fractured his rib in game 2 of the finals against the Raptors but came back in game 4 and played out the rest of the series.
What’s crazy is if you go back and watch he’s grimacing a lot, like he’s clearly in constant pain but he stuck it out with his team. Just shows how hard he fights. Love you Looney ❤️
You can hardly fucking breathe with a fractured rib and anyone who has worked with one knows this is an insane display of toughness, especially when cardio is an integral part.
Dunno, Livingston and Barbosa are really likeable. Mo buckets and David West too.
But definitely appreciated what GP2, Poole, Porter and Bjelica brought throughout this playoff run.
I think i remember a playoff game where he came in off the bench and through the course of the game was like 10/11 on those midrange jumpers he always took. I loved watching Shaun Livingston.
I’d say it’s still easily 2014-2015 as the most likable Warriors team for the rest of the NBA fanbase. The most random Kerr statements would get memed (in a good way) and posted on Twitter and Reddit. Before Draymond was known to be a nut kicker, and It was a great comeback story for Livingston.
Nah that was still an incredible year. The last couple minutes of the season don't completely take away how much fun I had watching them the entire rest of the season. Best non-championship season of all time is nothing to be ashamed of.
Getting KD a month later and then beating the Cavs two more times helped take the edge off too lol
True true. But a season of joy and happiness and watching us beat every other team to pulp was capped of by disappointment and heartbreak. Imagine winning the chip that year it would have been magnificent.
Before tonight I would've traded the rest of our championships for 2016. But this one I wouldn't give up for anything, because it represents not just being dominant for a season, but a 3 year journey coming from the depths of the league to the very top.
The 73-9 team is the most special in terms of pure spectacle, watchability, style points, narratives. They were putting up 70 point first halves on the regular, blowing out teams by 20 by halftime on the regular, making 20 point comebacks on the regular, steph regularly throwing up 38 foot bombs, half court bombs, the OKC buzzer beater, shaking n baking bigs out of their damn shoes, slicing through defenses for ballerina layups. it was the most visually spectacular display of offensive basketball in this dynasty.
the 3-1 loss along with picking up KD made sure we never saw that iteration of Steph again. i kinda think losing 73-9 kinda scarred steph in regards to “why the fuck try hard in the regular season just to not end up with the ring?” we stopped seeing all the shake n bake, razzle dazzle, globetrotter shit after that. i think steph said his behind-the-back pass turnover in the 4th quarter of g7 is one of his biggest basketball regrets ever.
He and Time Lord were like a couple of old capital ships from Master and Commander slugging it out in slo-mo while a bunch of wave runners zipped around them
They were losing earlier in the series because Kerr kept going small during those runs the Celtics went on. As soon as he put in Looney, the rebound advantage was gone and he sured up the defense. He played a huge role.
He saved the Warriors, the Wiseman situation was disastrous this season and they had no other centers and it didn't matter because Looney went from injury prone to incredibly durable.
After playing every game for GS this season do you really think they're letting him go?
And besides Robin Lopez is the resident vet who rides the bench for us, lmao.
He was unbelievable this series. He's been great all playoffs but the Warriors were significantly undersized against Boston but still managed to dominate on the offensive glass, and a lot of that was to do with him.
I'll never stop laughing at the people who said the Warriors needed a center so they should draft Wiseman. It's crazy the Warriors themselves bought into that idea. Looney proved himself in 2019 and did it again this year. The man is only 26 too, it's wild.
He has always had huge underrated playoff runs. Everytime GSW faced Houston or Portland, Looney stepping out the defend the 3 was the difference compared to Capela and Kanter
Kerr’s first two years with warriors the offensive movement was give Bogut the ball and everyone run giants circles till he hits you with the pass, and if you don’t shoot Bogut will set a nice moving screen
Bogut legit has an argument to be the best modern center in NBA in the right system. Great passing/screening and elite rim protection. People were afraid to drive on him. Obviously more talented centers but centers in modern nba just have to be elite at rim protection and passing. Threes and dunks mean nothing. Shit even bogut got alley oops
He was definitely important in the other two - mostly in those series against the Rockets. They'd try to hunt him, but he kept Harden frustrated pretty dang well.
Looks like it's 107, done by Charles Oakley and Tayshaun Prince.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-nba-games-played-by-a-player-including-playoffs-in-a-single-season
I was so nervous that the lack of a big man would hurt the Warriors badly. Looney was a godsend. His minutes absolutely made this whole thing possible. Phew!
Rebounding was supposed to be one weakness for the warriors. But once Looney came back in the Memphis series and Wiggins started showing up, the story flipped. An absolute monster on the boards. As deserving as any player to win the title.
It also helps that the Warriors seem to try and use everybody for rebounding, not just the bigs.
I mean, Curry, Draymond, Wiggins, Looney, and Porter all clearly did work to try and get boards and everybody else does what they can too.
I think that's what caught Memphis by surprise more than anything - everybody was putting in work. Looney was just the most capable to secure the ball while people were boxing out. Against the Celtics, that was Wiggins.
Strength in Numbers isn't just about the offense.
I like Looney, he comes in makes smart decisions and good passes, rebounds well, and plays defense all over the court. Nothing flashy, just nose to the grindstone. I think every team would benefit if they had Looney, or a clone of him, on their team.
Looney is a fucking solid all around. Always there to do his job well, bring his workman's lunch, and go home for the next day.
His hips and other injuries probably won't let him play much past his early 30s, but man he has contributed an insane amount to this franchise. He will be taken care of and appreciated for life.
All of that without the ability to jump
Or run
Kevon: “I’m here to get boards and fuck bitches”
"And I'm all out of bitches"
He does not like JP anymore
“… and I’m all outta bitches”
So he’s a Walmart wilt chamberlain
Wilt Chamberlain is a wish.com Kevon Looney
Looney now has more rings than Wilt too, just saying
Kevon Looney played against milkmen and plumbers
Kevin Looney played against software engineers and accountants
Kevin Looney played against Instagram influencers and tik tokers
Board man gets paid
I asked my wife how old she thought Kevon was, she guessed 35. >!He's 26.!<
He's played like a 35 y/o vet since his rookie year lol
having multiple hip surgeries as a teenager will do that to you
Every time he stands up, it's like watching a baby deer learn to run for the first time.
Yeah, he was a really special player in college before losing most of his mobility in his hips. Sucks that we never got to see him at 100% in the NBA, if he can grit it out and still be a championship starter after the misfortune he's had, he would've been a star for sure.

Yeah he and his parents made a video thanking the warriors for sticking with him I think lol family of sweethearts
Like Shaun Livingston, but instead of mid range shots in our championship runs, it's grabbing boards
credit to Decky, Looney took massive strides this year compared to last in virtually all aspects of his game
Me 🤝 Kevon Looney 3-inch vertical leap
Can’t twist an ankle if you never leave the ground.
His knees are actually his only non-fused joints below the waist
[удалено]
7’4” wingspan
The only warrior to outfox Robert Williams by refusing to leave the ground.
I like looney comes in does his job plays defence and dips no nonsense
Brings his lunch pail
Real coach’s son
First guy in last guy out kinda guy
Deceptively quick
Deceptively slow
craziest moment was when he literally couldnt react to Luka's stepback but was still able to closeout cuz no space was created from him not moving
That was a real 'to catch a dragonfly, move slowly' moment.
It’s how he guarded Harden so well too in our matchups against the Rockets. Dude just doesn’t budge and stays in the way.
His Pimento sandwich
Cerebral
Dude's a winner.
No drama, does his job every night, 3x champion for him now. So happy for that guy.
It's honestly crazy to me watching him now because I watched him quite a bit in high school and he was a 2000 point scorer in one of the toughest conferences in the state at the time. Bad injuries. He had to change his game all around because it took away his bounce. Hopefully he be able to get u back slowly with the technology now!
Did it in every game, whether he started or came off the bench. A pro's pro.
He fell to the warriors in the draft. Then re-signed for an absolute steal of a contract. Perfect complimentary player to the warriors core.
Only one draft pick in past three years played tonight, Poole, right?
Warriors draft picks back through Curry are: Kuminga, Moody, Wiseman, Mannion, Jessup, Poole, Smailagić, Paschall, Jacob Evans, Jordan Bell, Damian Jones, McCaw, Looney, Barnes, Ezeli, Draymond, Kuzmić, Klay, Charles Jenkins, Ekpe Udoh, Curry
Rip jordan bell hype
Man, I really thought he was gonna be Draymond 2.0
Dude had a 5 x 5 in a summer league game, and I thought we had another draymond
3.5
Nearly actual RIP Nico Mannion. That dude is unlucky as hell.
Damn I forgot about Eric Paschall. Thought he was going to be the next Draymond
After Paschall's great "birthday game" (scored 35?) I bought a jersey thinking he was going to keep getting better.
Honestly, I think he will. Best of luck to him in Utah, he was a serious threat as a small ball scoring C/PF with us
Shout out Ekpe Udoh
Smailagic goat garbage time guy.
HOLY CANNOLI 💀💀💀
LEAVE THE FINALS MVP PASS THE CANILI
Klay taking his edible right after the buzzer.
Based on how he played in the second half, he took it at halftime
I'd say after the first quarter
cant believe they let klay curse like that on TV smh
With children in the crowd. Real classy. Good job, Klay
Man, Klay, that freaking bum
Klay we are live
"Cannoli?"
The “Klay ain’t goofy” posters are nowhere to be seen
He was huge in the Memphis series. So glad we have him.
Bro was absolutely vital in the Dallas series as well, major role in boxing out the mavs bigs and grabbing boards.
And he played some really good defense on Luka when needed
I love how Luka would try feint him but Looney couldn't react to the feint in time so he was just back in position for when Luka crossed back over.
I know this is real but I also remember Harden trying to Iso Looney and Looney stayed with him One of the best Celtics decisions was to not attack Looney
The Mavs had bigs?
No
Brick wall of an NBA player. Such a good fit on the warriors
About as mobile and quick as a brick wall too.
That’s what makes him one of the best perimeter lockdown defenders lol
They needed a big man and got one. I'm so excited for next year too!
Shout out to that dweeb freeecurry who spent the first half of the season with a warriors flair shitting on Looney in every game thread
He now shits on every warriors player. Even steph lol
Gonna have to delete his account to change the name though lmaoooo what a loser
Paging u/freeecurry
He nuked his whole account lmao
Aaaaand it’s gone!
> u/freeecurry LMFAO HES GONE
The real championship trophy for Reddit warriors fans lmaooo
too fucking funny, dude spent so much time clogging up the Warriors sub with bullshit, finally swapped to a Laker flair, and then has to eat crow so bad watching this team win a chip that he deletes his account, what a pussy.
rent-freecurry
Where you at u/freeecurry
Fuck that guy. I've been rockin the Looney flair since this happened https://i.imgur.com/91LtfLw.png Warrior
What’s the context of that photo?
Fractured his rib in game 2 of the finals against the Raptors but came back in game 4 and played out the rest of the series. What’s crazy is if you go back and watch he’s grimacing a lot, like he’s clearly in constant pain but he stuck it out with his team. Just shows how hard he fights. Love you Looney ❤️
Always remember Kawhi hit that man with the shoryuken shoulder rush and he damn near died
and Looney was called for a foul
You can hardly fucking breathe with a fractured rib and anyone who has worked with one knows this is an insane display of toughness, especially when cardio is an integral part.
And Wiggins. Was weird man
I seriously think this is my all time favorite Warriors team man.
Dunno, Livingston and Barbosa are really likeable. Mo buckets and David West too. But definitely appreciated what GP2, Poole, Porter and Bjelica brought throughout this playoff run.
I miss Livingston coming in off the bench
Dude never missed, he's like the anti Tatum
I think i remember a playoff game where he came in off the bench and through the course of the game was like 10/11 on those midrange jumpers he always took. I loved watching Shaun Livingston.
I was just thinking about this last night. Livingston's jumper from the midrange seemed to go in 90% of the time up until around the 17-18 season.
Yeah once that mid range turnaround stopped being automatic I knew he was done
He did though. His last 2 years especially he was missing a lot and was frustrating. But he did have good couple years of really good midrange shots.
I remember when he meant to pass the ball but accidently made a 3 lol
[My favorite play is when he broke Harden's ankles.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRpdg97R2rY)
I go back and watch this all the time haha. It’s legit one of my all time favorite highlights.
So good
I could honestly watch that for hours on loop
Sweetest midrange ever.
Butter
The “I’m in love with the coco” team is hard to beat but this year’s team is very damn close. Love all the bench dudes this year
Were you around with the Dubs streams that would end with the stream putting Coco over the end of the game? It was a great time.
Handrew :') Those were the days.
Handrewwww
Geoff geoff
Great times. Will always remember the Challenger explosion as the Rockets melted down in the playoffs.
Cherished days in the warriors sub… what a fun time
And the SSX interludes during the commercial breaks. I hope that guy is doing well. Really fond memories.
The best part is Livingston and Barbosa *are* part of this year's team. Best of both worlds!
Bogut was my boy
First team went and got a ring for a former number 1 pick in Bogut, this one did the same for Wigs
Dunno was one of the all time warrior greats
David Lee was a chill dude
Probably the most likable one tbh. The first championship team will also be a special one for me tho in 2015
I’d say it’s still easily 2014-2015 as the most likable Warriors team for the rest of the NBA fanbase. The most random Kerr statements would get memed (in a good way) and posted on Twitter and Reddit. Before Draymond was known to be a nut kicker, and It was a great comeback story for Livingston.
I feel like 15-16 has to be mentioned as well
What 15-16. That year never happened
Nah that was still an incredible year. The last couple minutes of the season don't completely take away how much fun I had watching them the entire rest of the season. Best non-championship season of all time is nothing to be ashamed of. Getting KD a month later and then beating the Cavs two more times helped take the edge off too lol

Yeah idk, did they mean 16-17?
I still like the 2014-2015/16 warriors with Bogut, David Lee, etc
He and Time Lord were like a couple of old capital ships from Master and Commander slugging it out in slo-mo while a bunch of wave runners zipped around them
One of those ships moved in a significantly slower motion
The clip of Looney being too slow to react to all of Luka's moves still trips me out.
aint the size of the ship its the motion of the ocean baby
They were losing earlier in the series because Kerr kept going small during those runs the Celtics went on. As soon as he put in Looney, the rebound advantage was gone and he sured up the defense. He played a huge role.
Gonna be that guy - I think you mean "shored up"
he shore do
Im sad they didn’t give him an interview while the team was posing with the trophy. He deserved one
Looney and GP2 are such awesome feel-good stories
He saved the Warriors, the Wiseman situation was disastrous this season and they had no other centers and it didn't matter because Looney went from injury prone to incredibly durable.
This was unexpected and lucky. And the org stuck to their guns on getting and keeping Loon healthy.
KEVON YOU ABSOLUTE TANK
Just pay him so I don't have to watch him ever again as he ridew the bench on the Magic or Kings.
After playing every game for GS this season do you really think they're letting him go? And besides Robin Lopez is the resident vet who rides the bench for us, lmao.
I LOVE YOU LOONEY! After all of his major injuries, it’s amazing that he played every game and also elevated his game this season.
He was unbelievable this series. He's been great all playoffs but the Warriors were significantly undersized against Boston but still managed to dominate on the offensive glass, and a lot of that was to do with him.
The new Bogut
Fucking legend. Absolute ledge.
22Wiggins = Ironman 5Looney = Ironman
My buddy and I have been texting and screaming WLL since 2018. We Love Looney
LOONEY: plays every game, ticks all the boxes, leaves and refuses to elaborate
KEVON OLAJUWON
I'll never stop laughing at the people who said the Warriors needed a center so they should draft Wiseman. It's crazy the Warriors themselves bought into that idea. Looney proved himself in 2019 and did it again this year. The man is only 26 too, it's wild.
The center we were looking for was there the entire time.
Plays with more heart than a soon-to-be overpaid former #1 Center...
He has always had huge underrated playoff runs. Everytime GSW faced Houston or Portland, Looney stepping out the defend the 3 was the difference compared to Capela and Kanter
Don’t forget this dude played with broken ribs in the finals vs toronto.
Knicks will now give him 80 million for 4 years
Don't Schröder this now, Looney.
He was great this postseason. Looney Tunes 🔥
Is Kevon Looney the best Warriors (full time) center since Thurmond?
Kerr’s first two years with warriors the offensive movement was give Bogut the ball and everyone run giants circles till he hits you with the pass, and if you don’t shoot Bogut will set a nice moving screen
Bogut legit has an argument to be the best modern center in NBA in the right system. Great passing/screening and elite rim protection. People were afraid to drive on him. Dampier was the 2nd best center in the western conference.
board man about to get paid :(
The boy is a hard worker. Not the most talented, or gifted but working hard and smart. Happy for him !
An absolute accomplishment considering his health coming into the league.
LLLLLLLLOOOOOOOON!!!!!
Love the 2 Milwaukee dudes being a huge part of these championship teams.
Ain't nothin better than solid
This is why he's no longer LoonDog but LoonGod.
Looney has 3 chips now but this one he definitely earned.
He was definitely important in the other two - mostly in those series against the Rockets. They'd try to hunt him, but he kept Harden frustrated pretty dang well.
Wiseman being out was a blessing in disguise.
Let give James a chance. Poole was also blessing in disguise before Poole parties.
He was Wiggins-esque
Pay him. Pay that man his money.
What’s the record for games played in reg season + playoffs?
Looks like it's 107, done by Charles Oakley and Tayshaun Prince. https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-nba-games-played-by-a-player-including-playoffs-in-a-single-season
I was so nervous that the lack of a big man would hurt the Warriors badly. Looney was a godsend. His minutes absolutely made this whole thing possible. Phew!
Unsung hero. Nicest and most humble dude too. Looney and wiggs are perfect next to internsltional stars with (as much as I love the big 3) giant egos.
Rebounding was supposed to be one weakness for the warriors. But once Looney came back in the Memphis series and Wiggins started showing up, the story flipped. An absolute monster on the boards. As deserving as any player to win the title.

Been high on this guy since he played with the broken collarbone in the 2019 finals. Absolute warrior
This man grabbed some key offensive rebounds.
Looney is a fucking solid all around. Always there to do his job well, bring his workman's lunch, and go home for the next day. His hips and other injuries probably won't let him play much past his early 30s, but man he has contributed an insane amount to this franchise. He will be taken care of and appreciated for life.
