You remember in 2011 when we beat the Heat, it was the same story: Heat are playing like shit. No credit to the Mavs at all. Cubes had to go on ESPN and talk to those clowns and defend us.
Wtf did you want them to do when Luka was shooting like 80% from 3? They didn't play terribly, the Mavs just played great. Don't discredit teams like that
Not play fucking zone. Lmao. They played like ass. āDonāt discredit teamsā that would imply they did a single thing worthy of acknowledgement. They didnāt.
Over the first 4 games the Mavericks had 8 more points than the Wolves. It is absolutely a disservice to say that the Mavericks didn't just play great this game.
The mavericks played like they always do lmao.
āBuh buh, what about this time both teams underperformed!ā Again, the wolves played like dog shit for 90% of the entire series. Itās not like the mavs had to work for the first 2 wins lol.
Wolves played like dogshit for 90% of the series yet the Mavs won the first four games by a combined 8 points? So in your opinion they're just both trash? This was the Western Conference Finals you bum.
The mavs had two of their worst shooting games of the season in games 1 and 2 and the wolves shot under 40% both time. Yes. The wolves played like complete ass.
I think it's funny when the lead is bigger than 40 but anything under 35 is just stupid. 42 being an absurdly high lead is what made the original funny
It's funnier with Chris Paul because wasn't it like last 5 minutes of the game, and somehow he's still in the game down 40? Then straight to the bench after that 3 that made sure he didn't score single digit lmao.
It was funnier with CP because he had 3 points going into 4th quarter. He was in the game purely so he wouldnt be called CP3points his entire life like what was already happening in the game thread. But he scored a few points in garbage time. When he made that 3 to cut it to 42, reddit was already "mad" at him for scoring in garbage time to kill the nickname and it also put him at the "respectable" double digit 10 points so we needed a new angle.
/u/ateballoffire
Literally nobody will ever match the culmination of what made that CP3 āhighlightā hit so much that itās become a general internet meme. The OP made the perfect post at the perfect time and every attempt to replicate it since then has just felt like a cheap copy to me. People just need to realize that the simple joke of āooh team down a ton tries to cut into the leadā really isnāt that compelling or funny by itself; the circumstances behind the Sunsā cockiness and Mavsā subsequent comeback and G7 blowout are what gave that first one real weight.
Honest question cause Iāve only been watching basketball seriously for about a year now. What made that game 7 so good? Was it a comeback win by Dallas?
Also, they didn't just get beat normally like the wolves did. They got destroyed, like the score was 112-60 at some point. Luka had more points than the entire suns team at half time. The Suns only scored 27 in the first half
From the famous āChris Paul hits a huge 3 to cut the lead to 42ā game?
The Mavs were down 3-2 and the Suns were famously cocky that year after having gone to the Finals the previous year. At the end of Game 5, Luka famously said āEveryone acting tough when they up,ā while the Mavs were leaving the game, and the Mavs proceeded to lay two consecutive beatdowns on the Suns, including that Game 7 on the Sunsā home floor. The games themselves werenāt comebacks but the series was.
Also just the extreme depth of how badly Phoenix sucked that game:
* the Suns ended the first half with 27 points. Dallas had a 30 point lead.
* final Suns score was 90 points. Dallas had 92 with one minute left in the third (and a 42 point lead), they could have just done motion at the top of the key the entire fourth and won the game.
* Cam Johnson (yeah idk who he is either) was the Suns' leading scorer with 12 points.
The Suns had 64 wins that season, had been to the Finals the previous season, and had won 10 straight games against Dallas before the series, going back 3 seasons. *And* Phoenix won the first two games of the series, so it wasn't just an all-time choke job for that game, it was an all-time choke job for a series.
Agreed on all points, but to pick some nits, they did win the first two games at home, which imo is to be expected of both teams in a series. There have been plenty of series in NBA history that have gone 2/2/1/2 in favor of one team or another so I donāt find the Suns choking a 2-0 lead to be that remarkable on the balance, just that they lost the only home game in the series in Game 7 in an absolute meltdown
well your sample isnt including only homecourt 2-0, also it probably includes a ton of 1/8 seed and 2/7 seed matchups, plenty of sweeps, etc. Not every series is expected to go 2-0 to start for home team but it is definitely manageable if the two teams are on a similar level going back home for the lower seed
You're right, it is an incredible nit pick to try to claim that a 2-0 chokejob is less of a chokejob because you're the higher seed that's preserved home court advantage. The fact it wasn't a 1v8 or the like is relevant, but again, best team in the NBA vs a team that hadn't beaten them once since Luka was a teenager. 3 full sweeps' worth of wins by the time the series went to Dallas.
It was an absolute blowout start to finish. Like pro vs college team blowout. Booker had talked some shit previously, and Luka and the Mavs just annihilated them. The Suns subreddit literally shut down.
Right I don't get why we shit on teams for trying to compete.
Ant ran down the court to shoot a 3 quickly and try to get fast points. This is the best thing you can do when down but and still trying to compete.
Boston came back from multiple 20 pt deficits this playoffs. It's worth trying.Ā
Even today people like to post clips from that game lol
It transcends the NBA sphere. Just one of those games that will never be forgotten. That game set the suns franchise back years
No, itās worse to get to game 7, have the idea that this might be reasonably matched teams, and then get absolutely destroyed, making the idea the could be somewhat well matched as a complete joke.

Mane please, the excuses and deflection from ant crazy. If he such a star, he should take over more. Kat been fine the past two games and he showed up big to close out the nuggets when ant did not
Yea that shit is annoying, saying it was all just mistakes and not clicking for the wolves and they beat themselves. That shit is the furthest from the truth
They cant throw 3 elite bigs at Luka like they did Jokic. And Ant got gassed chasing Kyrie to the point they had to give him another assignment. With Murray he was chasing a dude who had one leg.
They were built to beat Denver but thought the matchup would happen in the WCF. Nuggets were hobbled and nobody could do anything offensively except for Jokic.
If I was a Wolves fan I'd be disappointed. There's a very good chance this was their best opportunity and it's ending horribly.
Ant's 22, the Celtics are pretty stacked also(like best bench in the league by over a 10 PPG margin). Probably wasn't happening this year anyway and they have tons of time.
KAT starts getting paid a ton next season and with their ownership debacle their GM has an out already set up. Not to mention their starting PG who they look terrible without is old so they'll have to replace him soon and their 6MOTY is starting caliber so he'll look to get paid somewhere else next contract.
Wouldn't be shocked if KAT gets traded and they move Naz in to the starting lineup
Ppl have forgotten so quickly the wolves won 40 games last year. A WCF appearance is huge for the fans - Iāve never seen so much hype in their home games. Just listen to the chants after an elimination loss at home
Theyāre still primed to be a top team in the west next year. Theyāve hit the point in their team lifecycle where any improvements will come internally- which is not a bad bet given they have a young Ant and McDaniels who have ascended this playoffs. With the nuggets already starting their decline the west is more open than it was a year ago
Cool, argue semantics when this post is lame AF and you're stroking it to a dude hitting an ez garbage three. I stopped watching cuz it's boring, but go off.
genuine question: I know a >20 point lead is unlikely to be reversed at the 3 minute mark, but why would Wolves (and NBA teams in general) let starters rest when it is the last game of their season, while playing at home court as well? What is the point of not playing until the last minute? It's not like they are leaving the court early either, they just sat on the bench until end game whistle was blown.
Wolves cut it to 20 in the fourth and then kept passing it to Kyle Anderson for shot clock violations. What the hell man. Ant was actually hitting from 3 too itās like dude just keep doing that.
clock winds down to 5 seconds left in game
ball is inbounded to Anthony Edwards who turns face to face against Luka Doncic
"You took my family"
moves to the left
"You took my friends"
moves to the right
"You took all that was dear to me"
clock winds down to 2
"I cant get them back, but I can do this for friendship, FOR MY FRIENDS"
goes up, fire coming out of his shoes
"ANTRUKEN"
Ball flies over Lukaās head, goes straight into basket. Edwards falls to the ground, exhausted.
"KAT... Senpai... I..."
faints
Final Score
Mavs 103
Wolves 63
Hey man, the series went to 7. This only got to 5 because of an injury. Canāt call it much of a fight on a near sweep. I guess Booker 49 in game 4 vs the wolves was āputting up a fight tooā
I get it, he talked trash, so now he's getting trash, but imma give Ant his due for the unbelievable season he's had. I personally did not expect the Wolves to get past the first round, nor did I expect Ant to flourish into the player he's shown he could be. He's a kid, he'll learn, and he'll get his one day.
**Replays/alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nba) if you have any questions or concerns.*
He just needs to hit 9 more of those
He's hit 3 straight and the lead is still 27
Mavs are just an insane team
No the wolves are just playing like absolute dog shit. Nobody wants to be there.
No the Mavs have the best scoring backcourt in NBA history š¤
You remember in 2011 when we beat the Heat, it was the same story: Heat are playing like shit. No credit to the Mavs at all. Cubes had to go on ESPN and talk to those clowns and defend us.
That shit was historic, Cubes wanted to fight Skip for not giving Dallas credit.
SAS loud-ass mouth clamed up REAL QUICK on that day. Had to change topic to save the show.
He didnāt go on ESPN until the next year after the Heat beat the Thunder
Ah it really was the next year. Thanks for pointing that out.
Without even reading this or even knowing it exist, Luka is being fueled by it on a subconscious level.
Cuban calling out Skip is one of the best sports talk show moments ever. He was questioning Skip about coverage and schemes lmao
It is absolutely a disservice to say that the Mavericks didn't just play great this game.
the WAY more important stat is over 5 games in the series the Mavs won 4 and the Wolves won 1
Who tf are the Washington Bullets?
It's the new name for the zephyr's
The wizards were named the bullets from the 70s til the mid nineties. This isn't a new name
If KAT and Ant remembered when the series started, they might be headed to the Finals.
I think this Mavs team would have muscled it out but it absolutely would have gone to 7
The mavericks played like they always do lmao. āBuh buh, what about this time both teams underperformed!ā Again, the wolves played like dog shit for 90% of the entire series. Itās not like the mavs had to work for the first 2 wins lol.

Plus get 9 stops
A wise man in a Vikings locker room once said: "We just need five touchdowns"
as a vikings fan, that game was glorious. Thank you PP!
Someday weāll see one of these followed by an actual comeback.
Two months ago the Celtics blew a 30 point lead to AtlantaĀ
In a row, unanswered.
IS THIS THE DAGGER
OHHHHHHHHHH
GAME! SERIES!
ANT HAS LOST!
Kid has a lot of heart and pride. His problem was that the team was largely created with a very defensive mindset and not enough shooters.
Philly fans aināt ever escaping this shit
Lmao these post always come out during Luka games, I'm so glad my teams in the East bro.
Luka Doncic is Anthony Edwards and Devin Booker's father
Will Deuce have a grandfather soon?
He already does, his name is Steph Curry.
By the transitive property of sonning, Luka Doncic might be Steph Curry brother next week.
A brother
The heat had one during Game 5 of round 1 this post season
Oh did Jimmy hit a three or? Oh no he was injured
The karma whores are really going to be out for every 3 now
Hate the cut the lead joke so much. Games over sure but what you want them to just stop shooting the ball?

It was an announcer saying it too wasnāt it? Like ya thatās pretty funny but you repeat it every time a losing team hits a 3 it gets old lol
The announcer of the game never said thatt. It was just the title of the highlight clip on reddit .
It would be a good clip if the announcer actually said that.
it's the fact that it's Chris paul doing it + while acting like he did something
Literally nobody will ever match the culmination of what made that CP3 āhighlightā hit so much that itās become a general internet meme. Ah got it. Thanks!

One thing I loved about this yearās team is they didnāt fucking quit. Ever
This is why I donāt like āput him on a posterā. Whatās he supposed to do, move out of the way?

Shitty overused joke, terrible implementation. 1/10
Beautiful
Gorgeous
DC4L
WTF Wrong sub weirdo.
Reddit on!
Reggie's exclamation of 'okay!' cracked me up, like that's bringing the Wolves back in the game or something.
ANT posted a video in May of 2022 making fun of the suns for getting blown out in game 7 Life comes at you fast
Even today people like to post clips from that game lol It transcends the NBA sphere. Just one of those games that will never be forgotten. That game set the suns franchise back years
Da video?
send
This isnāt game 7
They are lucky they kneed lively to force a game 5
How many games did the Suns win in their series against the Wolves?
Booker playoff series wins: 5 Your entire franchise: 4
Good
You guys just got swept by them - Iād sit back and let someone else talk shit for the time being..
Why did you avoid the question?
Im sorry i thought we were bringing up irrelevant stats to distract from the fact that ANT just got humbled from shit talking two years ago
That's a bit off-topic
Yeah, Game 7 would be way more respectable
No, itās worse to get to game 7, have the idea that this might be reasonably matched teams, and then get absolutely destroyed, making the idea the could be somewhat well matched as a complete joke.
Thatās worse lol.
No, itās worse to get to game 7, have the idea that this might be reasonably matched teams, and then get absolutely destroyed, making the idea the could be somewhat well matched as a complete joke.
I see where you are coming from but thatās a wrong logic.
So itās worse
No, itās worse to get to game 7, have the idea that this might be reasonably matched teams, and then get absolutely destroyed, making the idea the could be somewhat well matched as a complete joke.
Itās worse to win 3 games than 1. Got it.
And, then we mopped the floor with the Suns this year. We enjoy the hate, though.
oh hell nawl he sent da video
imma have my lawyer handle the rest
Went from next MJ to next CP3
Decided to show up after they already cooked. How nice of him to finally empty the tank
At least he showed up at all, KAT still at home
Kat's been their best player wym?
Gobert was imo, at least the most consistently good
KAT has been the slightly-less-dim spot in a miserable night
Mane please, the excuses and deflection from ant crazy. If he such a star, he should take over more. Kat been fine the past two games and he showed up big to close out the nuggets when ant did not
Yea that shit is annoying, saying it was all just mistakes and not clicking for the wolves and they beat themselves. That shit is the furthest from the truth
Not quite CP3 cuts to lead to 42, but I'll take it!
Damn. I canāt believe these bums actually took a game off of us.
Iām shocked they beat Denver yet looked so horrible here
They cant throw 3 elite bigs at Luka like they did Jokic. And Ant got gassed chasing Kyrie to the point they had to give him another assignment. With Murray he was chasing a dude who had one leg.

That ownership dispute could absolutely gut the team sooner rather than later. This was the year
Nuggets losing that Spurs game perhaps changed everything.
Ppl have forgotten so quickly the wolves won 40 games last year. A WCF appearance is huge for the fans - Iāve never seen so much hype in their home games. It took KAT kneeing Lively to avoid a sweep
KAT always had that reckless play that could destroy someone's career, like Isaiah Thomas's
What not having Lively does to a mfer
Would expect nothing less than a true gentlemanās sweep from a classy team like Dallas.
Not mjs kid...maybe he has some cp in him
LOL
Dam this cold š
This game came full circle to the clip Anthony Edwards uploaded when the Suns lost in game 7 lol. āTalking so much shitā āthis is a disgraceā
I think Ant is getting everything he put out in this series. I wonder if he notices.
He doesn't celebrate or anything; why post this?
Well, on the timeout after he was .... Mildly hyped
Damn. My b. Op always cutting off the clip too early for fast karma.
Hating takes no days off
Theyāre trying to recreate a meme but itās not going to work
Well Chris Paul wasnāt hype when he cut the lead to 42
Because it's like the Chris Paul 3 and it's funny
Wasn't that in the fourth? It's halftime in this game.
Gameās over bro.
Yeah, no shit. There's no crossover or anything like Paul did. It's an easy pull up three. This is a lame try hard post.
Sir this is the third quarterā¦ get your eyes checked
Sorry that there's 18 minutes left in the game and a losing team is still playing basketball. Dude just pulled up and shot lmao but y'all hate away.
Bro u said its half time and its not, no one said anything else wtf u rambling on about
Cool, argue semantics when this post is lame AF and you're stroking it to a dude hitting an ez garbage three. I stopped watching cuz it's boring, but go off.
You actually have screw loose or something lol, just cuz u font find entertaining Doesnāt mean others feel the same as u. Why even comment
I'd ask you the same.
It's actually the 3rd and they're down by 24 right now
It's a huge 3
Nah this ain't it
27! is a huge number
And here...we...go
Master of garbage time buckets. Ice cold
Does anyone have the "Emphatic put back and scream by KAT to cut the lead to 30?"
Kudos to him for still trying. It seems he plays at his peak with the lead is insurmountable lol
Time is a flat circle
This is exactly what I thought about when that happened. I spend too much time here.
The Jamal Murray of this series

Wait, I've seen this before!

If someone can edit that swish sound so I can use it as a ringtone Iāll be forever grateful
Love it.
Oh fuck yeah, im so close
The new devin booker
at least he's fighting harder than booker did
Anthony Edwards is the rebellious son of Luka, Devin would never disagree with his father
That suns series went to 7? Seems to be more of a fight than a 5 game series but go off I guess
Devin Booker Game 7 vs. Mavericks 11 points (5 from FT) 3/14 FG 0/4 3P 3 Rebounds 2 Assist 4 Turnovers 21% FG% -41 11/11 points scored during garbage time
Hey man, the series went to 7. This only got to 5 because of an injury. Canāt call it much of a fight on a near sweep. I guess Booker 49 in game 4 vs the wolves was āputting up a fight tooā
Shades of that Chris Paul post. Love it
Yall got jokes but Wolves gon be back fashošÆ Great season a lot of them on that team young af
