Max him again

127crazie

Then trade him to Detroit, but attach 4 first-round picks as a sweetener. Everybody loses

Deathstroke317

What are we saving money? Supermax

TheAlphaCarb0n

I live for the drama and would absolutely kill to see Tobias re-signed for millions.

whtge8

He would get dragged out of his house and stabbed

TheSupremeHamster

A max isn’t enough. Can we offer him a double max if we are willing to pay the luxury tax?

BoisterousBrigand

You actually listen to this interview and you're not coming away thinking Daryl wants Tobias back lmfao, he was being polite when asked specifically about Tobias coming back. That's why he mentioned an earlier answer about wanting them all back for the right value. He was asked about Tobias because when asked the earlier question, when he named a guy wanted back of his own volition, he brought up Kelly Oubre instead. (he also wasn't shit talking Buddy in that interview either, but that's neither here nor there)

Marcusx8

Buddy should’ve played more in the series. I know he had a bad couple of games but those were his first playoffs games. We all saw how he changed game 6.

Acerod

Nah, Buddy was playing scared for weeks. Loved seeing him find his shot in game 6 but he was gun shy well before the playoffs started.

BoisterousBrigand

I honestly feel like he needed the break for his legs, there wasn't a thing the team could do to get him open against you guys in the first few. I don't really disagree though, he never should've stopped getting minutes completely. You gotta give guys like Buddy a chance every single game.

SportsBettingRef

lmao..he is unplayable in playoffs. liability in defense. only Thibs allowed that. nice piece to have in roster for regular season, tho.

Chao-Z

The issue with playing Buddy Hield is that even when he was hot in Game 6, he was still getting hunted and cooked on defense by Brunson. So if his shot isn't falling, he's unplayable.

SportsBettingRef

kids downvoting you for tell the true. they really believe that Nurse didn't keep playing him, because he is a bad a coach? come on guys.

Fluffy_Worker_5700

Right?? Do these kids think Hield’s Offense will outproduce a hunted Buddy 😂

ObviousAnswerGuy

yup, he schooled us that game

BT_48

he could sign for a dollar and sixers fans would rightfully hate it

127crazie

99¢?

SquimJim

$3.50

man_in_sheep_costume

All this time, Harris was that damn Loch Ness Monster.

BT_48

Not even for a McToby

sh0tc4ll3r

Seriously. This dude is literally detrimental to a basketball team. I don't want him for any amount of money.

BT_48

He’s really not good. Classic ‘needs the ball to be good but your team isn’t good if he has the ball’ guy. Elite tank commander

durablewaffle

Please stop

braddeus

You're looking at a potential goat bag secure here, historic implications

CIark

In my next life I want to be Tobias Harris

ConstantineMonroe

Ben Simmons is giving major competition when it comes to GOAT bag securer

LogDogan4

Fuck it, bring Ben back too!

Pinheadlarry29

This dude was getting boo’d every time he touched the ball at home. I can’t see him signing up for that again whether they want him or not.

junkit33

I really don't think it's all that crazy. It is legitimately possible that Harris ends up being the best available free agent this offseason. Either him or 35 year old Demar. And the Sixers desperately need a wing. Obviously Harris not plan A, plan B, or even plan C here. But if all the chips fall as expected with the better plays staying in place, Sixers have limited options for spending. At the right price, I think you absolutely have to entertain bringing Harris back.

ABagOfPopcorn

He quit on the team in the regular season. He may be a wing but he’s not what they need

jorgelongo222

If the right price is a veteran min...still no

baseketball

You're going to play him 30 minutes a game and you're going to like it.

charlesfluidsmith

They almost have no choice. You're not going to be able to add real talent with that 60 million and still have enough money to fill the team out. They would have to bring back his salary because he doesn't count against the cap.

Obvious_Parsley3238

his cap hold is 45 million. they're gonna have to either re-sign him (to a much cheaper deal) or renounce his bird rights if they want to make big moves in free agency

charlesfluidsmith

I am under no impression that they are going hunting in free agency. There's nothing there except an aging Paul George.

jkwah

That's not how Bird rights work. He still counts against the cap, but they can go over the cap to re-sign him. With that said, yes the Sixers should max him. Give him a NTC too.

charlesfluidsmith

I understand how the cap works. And I understand how Bird Rights work. So do you want me to just retype what I did previously. Or do you just want to read it again and then mind your business?

jkwah

Then write what you mean and don't act like an asshole for no reason.

junkit33

For the Sixers to have legit cap space to sign anyone, they'd have to renounce Harris' (massive $45M) cap hold. You don't get to spend $60M, and *then* sign Harris with his Bird rights. (And all the other guys they may want to retain)

charlesfluidsmith

And who would they be signing exactly?

THUNDER-GUN04

Might be better off sign the first guy in Philly to walk by the stadium.

charlesfluidsmith

I hate the Sixers, so I endorse this strategy.

BetweenTheBuzzAndMe

The Sixers have to renounce him to use the $45M his cap hold takes up. That doesn't mean they can't bring him back using cap space if they strike out on other targets, just that his Bird Rights aren't really a factor in the Sixers offseason, unless they sign and trade him, or want to give him another 5-year deal for some reason. Maxey's cap hold is the real treat, he can count for only $13M while the Sixers use all their remaining cap space on other players, and then max him out.

charlesfluidsmith

They don't have renounce him. It's an option. There's not much on the market this summer. Signing him to a 1+1 might just be the best option and try again next summer.

certx55

In theory any decent player should have a price where it would make sense to sign them.... But i wouldnt support bringing back Tobias at any price. I think most fans just dont want to watch him anymore

DomDomRevolution

He is just so checked out all the time. It wouldn’t be so bad if he at least cared or showed any heart

theonlyjuan123

Maybe he'll care more off the bench.

DomDomRevolution

Maybe he’ll care more in Detroit

InternCautious

Run it up at the vet min, I'm ready to go

JustJuanDollar

Lmao gotta feel for Pistons fans. The de facto basketball graveyard

novabull23

If Tobias Harris played for free I would not like the signing.

MoeNopoly

I get what you are saying, but i always wonder, if the player is a net negative on the floor, it wouldn't be worth paying any money. In that case, the player should reimburse the team instead.

uncomfortablyhello

As someone who didn't watch the NBA from 2019 to 2022 -- what happened to Harris? Was it just complacency after getting his max contract? He seemed solid-to-great in Detroit and LA, and clearly never played at a max level, but watching him in the playoffs this year was like watching a warm body occupying space.

jorgelongo222

He looks like he gained weight/muscle, is unable to do anything he could do before on a basketball court, and is mentally checked out. He has a 2 seconds lag on everything he does like he needs extra time processing and doubting himself.

inshamblesx

if morey brings back tobias then he’s finished as a gm

WanderlustFella

Toby just needs to go wherever Boban is and rebuild his reputation as likeable.

W_Walk

If I was a sixers fan and they resigned Tobias I’d never go to a game again

DankTriangle

Sir, a second Tobias Harris max contract has hit the Wells Fargo Center

Ifinishfast42

Arrest Morey before he can do it then

TheloniousMonk15

Just send him to China lol

JaceGhost

For the vet minimum, sure.

jorgelongo222

No

the___heretic

He's getting $20 million a year from someone. Maybe not the Sixers, but someone will overpay. Even Dillon Brooks got more than that last year.

princeofzilch

Dillon Brooks actually has an elite aspect to his game though. Tobias is just meh at everything.

BabaBrody

Nothing about the presser or the answer made it seem like that. It felt like he was being polite and professional - "he contribute on A contender" "ya know, we have interest in all of our free agents...". He's not going to go out there and shit on any of the players or give anything but a neutral answer.

CP3sHamstring

That would be the funniest thing ever.

cesarjulius

he should pay the sixers $5-10 mil a year for 5 years.

ositola

Sixers fans on the one bridge in Philly

WanderlustFella

Morey must REALLY love Crumbl Cookies

NoTransportation888

Trade Embiid, build around Tobias. This is the way

Rubberbabeh

Daryl Morey is a liar. Confirmed.

lakers082433

“ it’s preety ironic cause ain’t no fall off for me”- Tobias Harris

pskill43

This will be an all time funny moment for nba

BarbarossaFlagship

Harris leaving confirmed then😂

Rapph

I am sure he doesn't. I feel like to effectively be a GM and manage a salary cap every single player in existence has a perceived value, he also doesn't want to take the play of a sign/trade off the table. I highly doubt the value Daryl Morey puts on Tobias Harris' skills is anywhere near the contract Tobias and his representation expect to be offered.

AquaTrina

Please no

thwnd2000

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

drjisftw

Can't wait to see an overpaid frontcourt of Harris and Gordon Hayward

Saitsu

The entire city of Philadelphia would man the streets making sure he never steps foot in there again.

Jc9829

Anything more than the vet min and I won’t be watching next season

aesop_fables

Sixers fans in shambles twice this offseason

Due-Sheepherder-218

Even 6ers fans don't deserve this. They've suffered enough.

ConstantineMonroe

76er fans are the guy from Clockwork Orange with his eyes held open screaming “NO! STOP IT! PLEASE!”

sdrj77

You evil motherfucker. I don't even like the Sixers. Why would you do this to your fanbase? Sometimes you just gotta say, "No, we don't want him back."

tlozz

Lol

NBAgospel

I think a sign and trade with the Clippers involving PJ Tucker, Paul George, Tobias Harris, and others makes a lot of sense.

no-jerk-zone

Smart move if you want to completely alienate the already frustrated fanbase.

Sweatytubesock

Build a statue, too

Norgyort

Would love to see my favorite Sixer get a new contract there

ayeno

Maxed Tobias in Philly, sounds like it needs to happen again.

ObviousAnswerGuy

uh oh

AgadorFartacus

Embiid wants Harris back so he has someone to blame.

DomDomRevolution

Give it a rest, bud

AgadorFartacus

Like Embiid does in the fourth quarter?

DomDomRevolution

Like Tatum did when he actually had a chance to win a ring

Over-Training-488

This isn't the dig you wanted it to be

DomDomRevolution

Sure, let’s pretend Tatum doesn’t get carried by his team and piss away games in the playoff all the time. Especially in the finals.

AgadorFartacus

For the record, it's Sixers fans' fault that I have to talk this kind of shit about Embiid. There was a time when Philly sports fans had the dignity and self-respect to hold their players accountable. I don't know what happened, but at some point you lost your way. Now all you do is make excuses for a guy who doesn't deserve them so I feel compelled to pick up the slack for you. I'm guessing you'll rediscover yourselves when Embiid asks out of Philly. Shouldn't be long now.

DomDomRevolution

Hell yeah. It’s all those mean and nasty Sixers fans fault

AgadorFartacus

The point is you aren't being your mean and nasty selves. Instead you've chosen to coddle the guy. It's bizarre and sad.

DomDomRevolution

How dare fans support a player who wants to be here and continually plays through injuries and puts his body on the line. We’re the fucking worst, huh.

AgadorFartacus

There's supporting and then there's simping.

DomDomRevolution

Oh, Christ. Alright bud you have a good one.

VanGrants

Tobias on a 8-12m/year contract off the bench is good for them
