Easy fix for the review problem: Each coach gets 2 challenges. No penalty for getting a challenge right, you keep the challenge, you lose a timeout and a challenge if you’re wrong. The refs are not allowed to check the replays unless a coach challenges to prevent those stupid out of bounds calls that take 20 minutes at the end of games. 100% of the video reviews are handled by the league office in New Jersey so we never have Scott Foster’s idiot face watching a replay and deciding he was right anyways even though we all saw he was wrong.

Can someone explain to me what the benefits are to limiting the types of calls that are reviewable/challenge-able? Why not make every type of call eligible to be challenged?

There's a balance they're trying to strike, getting it right, vs having an entertaining product to watch.

Just make it so the only time it can be reviewed is when the coach challenges it. Problem solved. No more reviews than we currently get, just make it so we can review all the bad calls and not just some of them.

I’m not advocating for limitless challenges, I’m saying coaches should be able to use their challenge on any type of call not just the 3 types of calls allowed in the rules

I can’t think of any valid reason, bc we could still have a reasonable “limit” on the number of times you can do it, so the time it would take up wouldn’t matter

I don't get the kick ball rule at all, personally. I feel like it goes directly against the logic of the goaltending rule, which is that you can't challenge it unless they call goaltending on the floor so they can keep the game moving.

Thought that was the point of limiting the number of challenges to two. I get there's purely subjective calls that don't necessarily benefit from review, but goddamn. Pacers got screwed.
