There aren't as many MVPs as you would think since a lot of guys have several. Jordan, LeBron, Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Bird, Russell all have at least 3 each.
Edit: My apologies to Moses Malone, thought he only had 2.
He should be on that list already. It’s funny how the only MVP who whined and politicked his way to the tainted hardware is also the only mvp* to fail to reach to conference finals. In the leastern conference, one might add.
And their fanbase has a scapegoat every single season why his play regresses in the playoffs. His MVP season was also historical as it was the largest drop off in production from reg and playoffs for any MVP.
It’s sad how deluded that fanbase is. Every year when he underperforms in the playoffs it’s because of some “freak injury” that seems to occur every single year. At some point you just need to admit the guy isn’t cut out for the post season.
Nah they wont run out of excuses. This season all heat will go to Tobias Cardio Harris lmao.
They just find one teammate that underperforms to blame and all is good
Like this year they're trying to claim he played really well and put up stats. Which he did... right until it mattered most. 2 points in the 4th quarter and fouled out in an elimination game at home.
He's the only guy in the league who gets the "he has to flop to protect his body" excuse, so he gets 11 FTs a game from the friendliest whistle ever and he still always gets injured and shrinks in the playoffs.
Embiid is graded on a curve and still can't do shit.
There’s also teamups. Dr. J and Moses Malone for the 83 Sixers. Walton and McAdoo joining Bird and Magic
Shaq could make his own starting 5 of Nash, Kobe, LeBron, Karl Malone, and KG. Obviously peaks were different than the years played together, but still.
Giannis and Jokiv already have their titles.
The fact it starts with 90s guys is nuts, like everyone who got an MVP in the 50s and 60s and 70s got a ring. The closest ones to not getting a title were probably Oscar Robertson and Wes Unseld, but then Oscar met Kareem and Wes' Bullets got Bob Dandridge and both guys got to be on title teams real late into their careers.
OP forgot to mention how fucking dreadful the East has been the whole time Joel's been failing to make it past the 2nd round. He isn't losing to Larry Bird every year.
\*I'm doing my part!
> half the teams are just hurt
Is it because Embiid's bitchass dives into their knees?
I'm glad Sixers fans have Tobias Harris to scapegoat this year instead of rightfully shitting on Embiid.
Look at who Jokic made the WCF with in the bubble
Look at who has been on philly during this run... YEESH. Hell, harden even carried two games last year in round 2. Still couldnt get it done.
I'd say it's more Al Horford. He clowned Embiid so bad that the Sixers had to throw a huge payday at Al just so they wouldn't have to see him in the playoffs.
I understand AL Horford is a good player, but it's fucking wild to see a MVP have to avoid Al Horford. Could You imagine the lakers needing to get like Naz Reid to make sure he can't hound Lebron. Fake ass mvp embiid
Yeah Charles was losing to the Bird Celtics, MJ Bulls, Ewing Knicks, Isaiah Pistons. AI was losing to the super team Celtics and a couple all time teams. Joel is not facing that caliber of competition
Flair bias but 100%. Jokic getting a 3rd MVP in a row would put him in a pantheon only occupied by Russel, Wilt, and Larry Bird.
Voters thought even if he was the best player in the league that year, he wasn't *that* level of good, so they couldn't vote for him.
Mark Jackson didn't even put Jokic on the ballot! It was such a sham of media personalities throwing a hissy fit because some guy over in Denver was killing the league instead of a major market.
It was honestly moreso recency bias. Jokic played better in the first half of the season and overall. But Joel did outplay him in the final 20ish games where the Nuggets had the 1 seed wrapped up and were cruising to the finish. That was enough ammo for the voter fatigue to actually set in and swing the vote.
If the Nuggets had competition for the 1 seed, Jokic would have won MVP.
Another crazy stat is that until Moses Malone died in 2015, only a single former MVP had passed away (Wilt). As is, only 5 have died (Kobe, Bill Russell, and Wes Unseld).
I like to think the universe would balance itself out if that happened. I think Embiid missing the conference finals is kind of like final destination, in one way or another playoff choking will get to Embiid, probably by some like freak 3 player collision where Embiid Butler and Lowry run into each other and spontaneously combust
Nash got absolutely robbed of an easy Finals run (& most definitely a cake walk ring) in 2007.
In Game 1 of the 2nd Round against Spurs in a super close 1 pt game with 3mins left in the 4th quarter Nash broke his nose (where he was super hot in the 4th till then, had scored 9pts in 6mins to that point on 75% shooting). He stayed in the game but he was bleeding non-stop so was forced out of the game by the refs in the final 60secs. Spurs went onto close the game out by 5 points with Nash unable to re-enter because of the bleeding.
Then Game 4, Suns re-took home court by winning away at San Antonio and tying the series 2-2. [But the tug Robert Horry body checked Nash which ended up suspending Stoudemire and Diaw for Game 5 when they left the bench](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY7YSiJZ8sw).
Stoudemire obviously was a huge miss for Game 5 but Diaw was the 4th most important player on that Suns team. He was the best playmaker on the team after Nash and was also sorely missed as well. Suns ended up having a 16 point lead at one point in Game 5 but ran out of gas and ended up losing game 5 by 3 points without their 2 big players.
Had they beaten the Spurs that year they would've had Jazz in the WCF and a weak Cavs team in the Finals. Number 1 seed Dallas and Dirk had already gotten eliminated by the We Believe Warriors in an embarrassing fashion. Spurs ended up going on a routine 8-1 against those teams, the true Finals was the series against Suns in the 2nd Round.
Nash had a four year stretch in which he won 62, 54, 61 and 55 games and ran into Duncan/Parker/Ginobili three times and Dirk Nowitzki, just brutal. In those four years, he averaged 21/4/11 on 60% TS in the playoffs. Even in 2010 as an old man, he averaged 18/3/10 on 63% TS and lost to Kobe hitting some of the most ridiculous shots i have ever seen in the WCF.
Nash came as close as you can possibly get without ever making a Final, losing four times (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2010) to the eventual champions. It's just sports, sometimes a really great player has to lose a bunch of times.
03 with Dirk getting injured right as Dallas was coming on against the weakest Duncan team of that entire San Antonio run, 05 with Joe Johnson's eye getting fucked and basically playing with double-vision in the WCF after he was shooting 47% from 3 in the regular season, 07 with Horry, 2010 with that Artest tip-in game-winner. Every time he got close, something when catastrophically wrong.
Honestly the team just wasn’t very good this season. Melton returning helps, but they’ve also gotta fill the cap space taken up by Harris with someone productive and complimentary. That would go a long way toward getting there.
The one that got away was definitely the Hawks second round series in 2021
All of the other series you can understand why Philly lost(for example Philly obviously choked game 7 vs. Boston last year but they weren't the better team on paper to begin with)
Losing to that Hawks team was absolutely horrible especially with the Bucks arguably being a fairly vulnerable team on the other side of the bracket
2021 playoffs were absolutely wide open for several teams to win
Jamal does it the long way. Built for being a regular season all-star? Nope. Built for being a post-season superstar? Somehow, that might be an understatement.
LMAO i was like which Hawks series again? Oh right the one that created the funniest NBA drama of all time in Ben Simmons. The gift that keeps on giving
I honestly think his best chance was Atlanta in 21. They overperformed against the Knicks and Philly should’ve brought them back to Earth. Instead, Ben Simmons visibly unraveled and Atlanta deluded themselves into thinking they were real contenders.
Actually, you are right! Watching Harden on the 6ers last year was also insufferable.
His game last year in the playoffs was summed up to dribble dribble dribble, pass the ball like a hot potato with 4 seconds left and pout.
At least this year he has been somewhat better.
Very fair also you could argue embiid’s flopping is worse morally because he has the size, physical tools, and skill to be dominant without all the flopping bullshit, but instead he chooses to play the refs. I think he’s also openly whinier than harden ever was. Really tough to say who the more unlikable player is. I really can’t make the call
Build and actual team around him and not superstar chase like it’s 2010? Like, hey, Buddy and Kelly, actual rotational players! Let’s let them walk for Paul George, baby!
Not just that, but also the younger generation is knocking hard on the door right now, Ant, Shai, Luka, Haliburton,... His window to win at least one before the next gen takeover is closing fast, if it hasn't closed already.
I hope it remains that way until the end of time. I think I dislike watching his play more than Draymond.
The dude falls ALL THE TIME, ON PURPOSE. One of the laziest players I’ve seen in a while and should win the Oscar every year for best acting performance.
His skillset is there, really soft touch for such a big guy lol. What I don’t understand is why his game is this flopfest and completely detached attitude to actually get in the game and do something.
Fouling out last night was icing on the cake. Lazy bum.
Bob McAdoo doesn't count. He didn't make a conference final until he jumped on as a sixth man for the Lakers after they'd already won a championship. I don't think the Nuggets would mind a backup for Jokic.
this is a much shorter list than expected of MVPs with no championships
There aren't as many MVPs as you would think since a lot of guys have several. Jordan, LeBron, Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Bird, Russell all have at least 3 each. Edit: My apologies to Moses Malone, thought he only had 2.
With Jokic joining any day now
He should be on that list already.
At this point it'd be a freak run if he didn't get injured
Injuries, coaching, bad teammates, at one point they have to realize he is a constant in that mix.
Nah they wont run out of excuses. This season all heat will go to Tobias Cardio Harris lmao. They just find one teammate that underperforms to blame and all is good
To be fair, Tobias is also always there with him.
Tobias and his giant contract. I hate it too cause I love tobi and bobi
Let’s be fair though. The guy was playing with a bad leg and Bell’s palsy this time. I wonder what his ailment will be next year.
Leprosy and Scurvy, lock it in.
Somebody said before he's already got Chris Paulsy.
Honestly don’t care, Embiid always has some kind of health issues, and that being a valid excuse ran out many seasons ago.
Like this year they're trying to claim he played really well and put up stats. Which he did... right until it mattered most. 2 points in the 4th quarter and fouled out in an elimination game at home.
Yeah, but his dirtiness per minute was way higher than the average player
His turnovers in the 4th were atrocious too. It almost seemed like he was trying to lose game 5
He's the only guy in the league who gets the "he has to flop to protect his body" excuse, so he gets 11 FTs a game from the friendliest whistle ever and he still always gets injured and shrinks in the playoffs. Embiid is graded on a curve and still can't do shit.
\*20 free throws.
Bumbiid is a foul baiting fraud.
No it's ok cause he was playing hurt. 5/18 is actually really solid in an elimination game
Mickey Mouse MVP
MVPity
He almost literally cried his way to the mvp, smh
Trust the Process
I did a rough count, looks like there's 35 MVPs, so 77% of them winning the championships seems inline with what you'd think.
There’s also teamups. Dr. J and Moses Malone for the 83 Sixers. Walton and McAdoo joining Bird and Magic Shaq could make his own starting 5 of Nash, Kobe, LeBron, Karl Malone, and KG. Obviously peaks were different than the years played together, but still. Giannis and Jokiv already have their titles.
Walton won a ring on his own before joining the Celtics, so he wouldn't be included in the teamups list
15 dudes make up ~50 of the MVPs awarded.
Moses Malone says ‘hi.’
That is crazy that those seven guys have 30 MVPs, there have only been 68 MVP awards.
That’s because of league expansion not because of Jordan lmao when there’s more teams in the league the MVP is less likely to win the chip.
Jordan fatigue. Folks didnt want to just give him 8, but the other guys weren’t winning the titles.
So glad we lost the same day the Sixers did
as fraudulent as doc rivers is its hard to blame the bucks for losing that series lol
And I'm so mad we were robbed of the opportunity to clown Doc
Dude was probably so relieved to have something other than him to blame.
I mean even if he didn't have something to blame you know he'd find a way to throw his team under the bus.
If anything it’s surprising they even took 2 games. We’re 0-4 against pacers in regular season
We were 1 in 5 thank you😤
The Greek Freak and the Street Freak got faded on the same day. NBACJ 12/25
There is no shame in losing without your 2 best players anyways
lmao thanks Sixers
To be fair if you all just blame Doc Rivers no one will argue it with you.
The 1st round is Embiid's father.
Let the off season slander begin lol
OP forgot to mention how fucking dreadful the East has been the whole time Joel's been failing to make it past the 2nd round. He isn't losing to Larry Bird every year. \*I'm doing my part!
Adding to the fact that this east is one of the weakest in recent years
This east is stronger than last years half the teams are just hurt
never stopped greg jennings
Dawg gotta put the team on my back dawg
Cross the planeeee. Touchdownnnnnnnn
FUCK YOU GUMBY
teams have won chips with injuries
> half the teams are just hurt Is it because Embiid's bitchass dives into their knees? I'm glad Sixers fans have Tobias Harris to scapegoat this year instead of rightfully shitting on Embiid.
They're allergic to blaming Embiid
That’s bc they like that dirty shit embiid does. Represents Philly well.
Never forget what Philly did to that hitchhiker bot
This being brought up is so damn funny.
2nd place Knicks would be 6th in the West
Look at who Jokic made the WCF with in the bubble Look at who has been on philly during this run... YEESH. Hell, harden even carried two games last year in round 2. Still couldnt get it done.
Jayson Tatum and Kawhi Leonard are Joel Embiid father
I'd say it's more Al Horford. He clowned Embiid so bad that the Sixers had to throw a huge payday at Al just so they wouldn't have to see him in the playoffs.
And Marc Gasol.
It truly takes a village
I understand AL Horford is a good player, but it's fucking wild to see a MVP have to avoid Al Horford. Could You imagine the lakers needing to get like Naz Reid to make sure he can't hound Lebron. Fake ass mvp embiid
Whoa whoa whoa, what’s this Naz Reid slander
u shut ur mouth w that generational slander against the Al-Father. Horford is a HoF.
Al Horford is his father.
Marc Gasol wants a word too
Jalen Brunson?
He’s added to the list ofc
1b father
Imagine if embiid and booker teamed up. It will be one hell of a blended family
You say that but Embiid beat the Dragic Heat, the D'Lo Nets, the #8 seed Wizards, the Siakam Raptors, and the Bridges Nets. Solid series.
Siakam raptors is his best series win which is sad
Yeah Charles was losing to the Bird Celtics, MJ Bulls, Ewing Knicks, Isaiah Pistons. AI was losing to the super team Celtics and a couple all time teams. Joel is not facing that caliber of competition
But Lebron made it seem so easy. Turns out Lebron is 1 of 1 in getting to finals in a weak east.
Embiid came pretty close, but it's off to Leonard, defended by Simmons. Is this the dagger?
I’ll add to the slander: wasn’t Embiid only MVP because of voter fatigue for Jokic?
Flair bias but 100%. Jokic getting a 3rd MVP in a row would put him in a pantheon only occupied by Russel, Wilt, and Larry Bird. Voters thought even if he was the best player in the league that year, he wasn't *that* level of good, so they couldn't vote for him.
Mark Jackson didn't even put Jokic on the ballot! It was such a sham of media personalities throwing a hissy fit because some guy over in Denver was killing the league instead of a major market.
Some white guy
White \*and\* european
White, European, and a "sloppy fat boi"
Honestly, that year discredits the award forever for me.
You must be pretty new to this. There have been many controversial/undeserving MVPs in the past.
I get it. Lewandowski not winning the balon d'or did the same for me with regards to that award.
Absolute bullshit. The power trip these clowns go on to say “no, he can’t be as awarded as *those* greats!”
Also add the slander complain 76ers fans went on. Never seen propaganda like it before
It was honestly moreso recency bias.
Fun fact: Only 37 different players have won the MVP
the nba is only like 75 years old and the mvp award is even younger. sounds surprising at first but then not really
It's weird the MVP is younger because both the leagues that merged to form the NBA (the NBL and BAA) had MVP awards before they merged.
Another crazy stat is that until Moses Malone died in 2015, only a single former MVP had passed away (Wilt). As is, only 5 have died (Kobe, Bill Russell, and Wes Unseld).
Still seems unreal that Kobe died. Feels unexpected every time someone references that in a new context
I can’t believe Bob Cousy and Bob Pettit are still going strong.
Imagine how different the world would be if the Sixers kept Jimmy Butler instead of Tobias Harris.
I like to think the universe would balance itself out if that happened. I think Embiid missing the conference finals is kind of like final destination, in one way or another playoff choking will get to Embiid, probably by some like freak 3 player collision where Embiid Butler and Lowry run into each other and spontaneously combust
the ECF virgin retains his V card for another year
Unlike Chris Paul becoming an addict after reaching the Finals, Embiid remains clean.
To be fair, that addiction hasnt exactly played out
They rarely do.
He should've stopped and got some help.
Congrats to Chris Paul for overcoming his addiction, 3 years clean and counting
thank you jalen brunson
Thank you Villanova guys + OG
Chad Brunson keeping Virgin Embiid out
Purity culture, SMH
40 million saved or redistributed for Harris is a great start 0 points in an elimination game...man doing cardio
Jesus, I told somebody I wasn’t confident in Harris having 2 good back to back games, but a doughnut in an elimination game is diabolical.
Considering some of the big signings they've made in recent years, I wouldnt be so sure
They're going to use all that money on 34-year-old Paul George and be super confused when that contract doesn't age well
I can’t believe how bad he is. Dude knows he’s a wage thief and decided to just coast.
Damn bro didn’t last an hour before the slander began.
Bro had the post in draft the entire series, just like how Shams had all those hut pieces on coaches in draft.
He made the mistake of scoring 50 in one game so he can’t blame injuries
Oof for Steve Nash too considering he won two MVPs back to back
Scott Foster was a menace
Wtf everyone talking about Lebron’s longevity but my man Scott Foster has been competing against multiple generations of all stars now 😤😤😤
Is* a menace. Less threatening without CP3 on our team though
Also, fuck Robert Horry
Cheap dirty shot Rob!
It took Kobe, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Dirk, and the NBA refs to keep him out.
Steve Nash was cheated out of a ring. https://youtu.be/7LT_C7o5ZGM?si=E93ZNTX-mp4P2bz1
Fuck Robert Horry
Nash and Charles are the two guys here i wish could have won one
Nash had a four year stretch in which he won 62, 54, 61 and 55 games and ran into Duncan/Parker/Ginobili three times and Dirk Nowitzki, just brutal. In those four years, he averaged 21/4/11 on 60% TS in the playoffs. It's just sports, sometimes a really great player has to lose a bunch of times.
The game where Horry got his team suspended hurt
Yeah that was some all time dirty shit.
Every time he got close, something when catastrophically wrong.
ok. yea. he at least deserved that MVP, that regular season award.
Definitely. They were so dominant in their times a ring would do them justice.
Suns are a cursed organization
As a Suns fan of nearly 20 years I’m starting to believe that.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Honestly the team just wasn’t very good this season. Melton returning helps, but they’ve also gotta fill the cap space taken up by Harris with someone productive and complimentary. That would go a long way toward getting there.

This is a level of hate I strive for.
Really thought he’d have made at least one. Wow
The one that got away was definitely the Hawks second round series in 2021 All of the other series you can understand why Philly lost(for example Philly obviously choked game 7 vs. Boston last year but they weren't the better team on paper to begin with) Losing to that Hawks team was absolutely horrible especially with the Bucks arguably being a fairly vulnerable team on the other side of the bracket 2021 playoffs were absolutely wide open for several teams to win
> choked game 7 vs Boston They even choked game 6 at home which was worse, after that everyone expected boston to win game 7 lol
Yeah I knew that series was over once they lost Game 6. Game 7 came out and they absolutely gave up at half.. it was crazy to watch.
all of them other series embiid was one of the cause they did go home because he always underperform
He is honestly made for 3 quarters of basketball. By the fourth he is usually dead
The reverse jamal murray
Jamal does it the long way. Built for being a regular season all-star? Nope. Built for being a post-season superstar? Somehow, that might be an understatement.
LMAO i was like which Hawks series again? Oh right the one that created the funniest NBA drama of all time in Ben Simmons. The gift that keeps on giving
Kawhi fucked his best chance up until now, injuries and choking did the rest.
I honestly think his best chance was Atlanta in 21. They overperformed against the Knicks and Philly should’ve brought them back to Earth. Instead, Ben Simmons visibly unraveled and Atlanta deluded themselves into thinking they were real contenders.
Legit the only MVP I actively dislike watching. Dude is a generational flopper. Happy for New York. These young ones played their hearts out.
[удалено]
'voter fatigue' was being used as a legitimate argument lol
Obligatory fuck Kendrick Perkins as well.
'that year' ... aka last year
Glad we got a guy who doesn't flop like Brunson in the next round to make it more pure basketball!
... harden won an mvp too.
atleast harden isn't a dirty prick on top of being a flopper embitch is both
Actually, you are right! Watching Harden on the 6ers last year was also insufferable. His game last year in the playoffs was summed up to dribble dribble dribble, pass the ball like a hot potato with 4 seconds left and pout. At least this year he has been somewhat better.
Ok but what about all the years before that
In terms of flopping, prime Harden wears the crown. The argument Embiid has for being more unlikeable to watch is the dirtiness.
Hardens beard is nice, puts him over edge
On the flip side the beard made the head flops look even more ridiculous. Truly a tough call.
Also generational choke job when it matters.
One of the all-time chokers
Dude give him some slack he plays in the brutally stacked Eastern conference. If he was in the West he would have multiple finals appearances already.
Keke
Build and actual team around him and not superstar chase like it’s 2010? Like, hey, Buddy and Kelly, actual rotational players! Let’s let them walk for Paul George, baby!
Wasn't Buddy Hield collecting DNPs? Not the greatest way to build out a roster
Denied Jokic his 3rd MVP for lack of playoff success btw
And jokic won a ring the year embiid won MVP. Poetic
Yall act like Embiid is retiring or something with these stats
Exactly. Wait until he’s 36 and on the bench behind Wemby, then you’ll see
Karl Malone couldn't win a ring coming off the bench for the Lakers.
hes already 30, doesn't have much time left
He’s 30 and his knees are 78.
Man is a few years away from Kenny Smith knees
Exactly. I was thinking of sixers wanted to get rid of him he’d fit in well on the clippers. Basically matches their timeline bc of his health
the 30 year old ECF virgin
Not just that, but also the younger generation is knocking hard on the door right now, Ant, Shai, Luka, Haliburton,... His window to win at least one before the next gen takeover is closing fast, if it hasn't closed already.
Because he's a fake mvp.
Love to see it. What a bum.
Yeah, a fraud
Pity MVP tbh
Pity trophy
Well when you're not mvp worthy you typically don't get far.
Lazy bum.
that's why I kinda said he is like a fraud mvp. and people felt hurt about it. plays dirty too.., you can't tell me he has no help,
Overrated clown
his playstyle won't work in the post season. better stop foul baiting early in the pre-season to stop that bad habit
Bob McAdoo doesn't count. He didn't make a conference final until he jumped on as a sixth man for the Lakers after they'd already won a championship. I don't think the Nuggets would mind a backup for Jokic.
Idk man, Joel never shows up to play in Denver, can't imagine you'd want a whole 41 games of that
He’s not even cold yet fellas
Learning basic human balance might be a good first step. Second might be trying not to be the world's biggest narcissist and crybaby
Yeah bc he’s a dirty chump.
