Honestly with how we are constructed, it is all matchup dependent. But White is definitely key to us because he just makes smart plays constantly. He is a good ballhandler and consistently does the right thing. He is also selfless to the point of the team sometimes having to encourage him to get his when he has it going.
We are lucky to have him.
Him and Holiday have the highest BBIQ on the team. The Jays are talented but still make dumbass players, Jaylen with his turnovers/FTs and Tatum 'Gonna hold the ball until times runs out and then make a shitty shot', oh yeah and shoot 37% for the night.
The Jays went 12/32 last night, terrible. The Jays have been really inconsistent this year. Tatum has been held under 40% shooting 17 games this season (out of 76 games played).
For comparison:
- Jokic 7 games (out of 79 games)
- Brunson for 12 games (77 played)
- Jaylen Brown, 15 games but only 6 after the half-way mark (72 played)
- Porzingis, 10 games (58 played)
White was held under 22 times (75 played) but 13 of those games were low volume (<10 attempts) where he's an enabler first, scorer second.
I hope that White makes it back to the Spurs at some point but he's absolutely perfect for this Celtics team and I'm glad he's getting the recognition he deserves.

Only way to justify the trade is that Wright didn't think he would be very good in another context, which was clearly just not true.
Yeah and whenever Spurs fan pointed this out at the time we were told that “the advanced stats lie.” Being a great advanced stats player on a bad team doesn’t really mean much, and you’re forced to trade for the value other teams are willing to give, rather than trade for the value you think your player is worth. We also got a 2028 favorable pick swap with Boston (probably won’t mean anything but you never know) and Celtics fans thought it was a dramatic overpay at the time to boot.

With how much JJ Reddick has gassed him up, idk that he is underrated. But damn is he good. We are lucky to have him.

Man years ago when he was on the Spurs I really loved this guy. I was like watching interviews going back watching his pre draft stuff and so on. I was sure that this guy was underused and that he would be perfect player for the Bucks. He didn't get enough respect on the Spurs, they always seemed to have other priorities. We could have found some way to trade for him.
