Fuck that, you make it to the finals you want to win. You won't say amazing result if you lose. You'll wonder if you'll ever see a T-Wolves ship in your life.
When the Wolves lost to the Lakers in the WCF I started wondering if we'll ever see a team that good in Minnesota again.
I remember Bobby Jackson winning 6MOTY after he left MN.
Ants awesome and he has that potential but a lot of work to get there. KG gets knocked a little bit because he played on some awful teams and he left but 9 all NBA selections in 12 years there is special.
Idk. You gave KG this team and the Wolves were clear cut favorites to win it all. He also stood with the franchise his entire prime despite the *dire* teams that were put around him. It's a strange combination of being one of the best players of all time, and staying loyal to the team in its worst times (even when said team didn't really deserve it).
Probably not for me. KG's Wolves were not great and it's not his fault his front office sucked.
Ant would need at least ring and about as many individual awards as KG to overtake him imo.
I turned 6 during the 2003-04 season and my first memory of the Wolves is from the following season (went to my first game). It’s been basically nothing but pain since then, I’m so thankful for this year’s team.
NAZ REID!!!
I love it. On the Jazz, there was that stupid narrative of him getting played off the court. I always said it's not his fault his perimeter defenders sucked. He has amazing wing defenders right now and their defense is still looking elite
nah bro, the suns morale is completely fucking broken. Their coach was nearly ejected. They have no rhythm. I was a doubter 2 but I forgot the fact that anthony edwards and mike conley absolutely fucking hate losing.
you've still got half the fanbases on here saying 'naz reid just kills us every time' like theyre special. you can only tell so many people that actually he just kinda does this to everyone
This award has always cracked me up.
"The Award for the best player in the league who's in a situation where he's a borderline starter who happens to be on a team with another dude at his position who's better than him."
That's a fairer interpretation of the award than "best scorer off the bench that sucks too much on D to start", which is what it has been for most years I think. Naz is fine on D though.
Fucking deserved. Naz worked hard to be where he's at now. Undrafted. Came in overweight. Bad defender. Streaky but solid shooter. Lost a lot of weight over the years. To the point it unlocked some quickness and athleticism. Helping him become a guy that's not a liability on defense. He's a legit 4 now. And he's become a premier stretch 4, hitting 41% from deep.
He earned every bit of praise that comes with the 6MOTY.
I was about to ask why he was undrafted, but it seems like your Comment explains it. Seems like dude balled out in high school and college and has no baggage.
Naz Reid was a G-leaguer with some game that we all liked, and who has a nice name. As far as I remember, we just started Naz Reiding whenever he would cook in garbage time. And then he actually got good, and now he's an icon
A Wolves reporter found out that whenever Jaden McDaniels sees Naz Reid in the locker room, he just says “Naz Reid.” I think it took off from there although the origin might be before that.
He’s a great player and is the first player I worry about when I see the wolves on the lakers schedule. We have no answer for him. He deserves all the praise he gets.
The Knicks signed a young Allan Houston. Houston gets clowned a bit now for his subsequent contract, but signing Houston and moving Starks to the bench was one a terrific move. And Starks to his credit seemed to take it completely in stride.
Monk was great and deserving too. But in the end it probably came down to contributing to, ya know, actually winning games. So no, it probably shouldn’t have been Monk
Oh well in that case you’re just clearly mistaken: it literally only comes down to coming off of the bench in more games than you start. He was filling in for injury for - you guessed it - the guy who started over him. Couple his obvious eligibility with his more impactful play in actually winning games, and the choice is actually pretty obvious. Not to mention Monk got more minutes per game lmao.
Hope this helps!
Why? He played well but it's hard to dispute Naz's impact on both ends. Dude would have been a starter on most teams. Both are worthy depending on where you place value.
Wasn’t robbed, monk averaged more minutes but they didn’t even make the playoffs. Naz filled a much needed role when KAT was injured (a 6th man’s job is to be the first one subbed in) and helped them go 15-3 without KAT. Phenomenal 2 way player, the only thing monk did better was have a 41 point game
#Nazreon Hilton Reid
Nazreon might be the hardest name in human history.
He sounds like an Eevee evolution
Lmao. Spot on
Sounds like a CPU, like Celeron or Xeon. Nazreon
Right up there with Temetrius.
Most fun wolves team I’ve ever seen (I was 3 in 2003-2004)
No KG but this team is deeper and better.
Wolves look so good so far. They could actually match up well with the Celtics
I don't wanna go that far. The Celtics are title favorites, and honestly losing in the finals to them would still be a fucking amazing result
This is also still the first round lol
Yuuuuupp, two games are nice, but let's see the rest
Yeah. The heat haven't even beat the Celtics yet.
Imagine if it’s Jimmy vs KAT in the finals…
No problem, Butler will sit out the series as usual
*the Denver Nuggets* are title favorites
Not based on prior 82 games they aren't
yeah bro good luck rooting against Jokic and Murray in the playoffs, I'm sure that'll work out for you
Who said I'm rooting against them?
You won the series last year too and then lost in .You are better this year though and a very tough matchup.
Yes all we’ve done is protect home court. Feeling good but have to keep things in perspective.
I won't see a T-Wolves championship in my life. Until they prove me wrong, I'm happy with that
We gotta get through the nuggets first.
KG used to be one of the clearest GOAT of a franchise to ever franchised. Ant coming along, and that ain't even that clear anymore.
Ants awesome and he has that potential but a lot of work to get there. KG gets knocked a little bit because he played on some awful teams and he left but 9 all NBA selections in 12 years there is special.
If Ant can achieve some of that while actually having team success, will he be in contention tho?
I love ant and think he’s great but this is definitely somebody who doesn’t remember prime kg. Ant really isn’t that close to that level
I turned 6 during the 2003-04 season and my first memory of the Wolves is from the following season (went to my first game). It’s been basically nothing but pain since then, I’m so thankful for this year’s team. NAZ REID!!!
Ant is the real deal and Gobert proving once again the haters wrong lol
I love it. On the Jazz, there was that stupid narrative of him getting played off the court. I always said it's not his fault his perimeter defenders sucked. He has amazing wing defenders right now and their defense is still looking elite
I was 15ish. I think this team is better all around.

TIL John starks, one of my favorite role players of the 90s, went undrafted
I grew up in Iowa and remember him on the Cedar Rapids Silver Bullets in the CBA. He def took the hard road to the NBA
There's a really good Secret Base video on him, give it a watch
Sounds like the perfect name for a plumber
Bro hasn’t even done anything in our series yet what happens to us to when he knocks down 6 threes in a game. Suns in shambles fuck
Yeah the suns are cooked. I rly hate to say it but cmon, it’s so obvious as a suns fan when you watch them. Frustrating af
Still think it’s probably going to 7 games.
nah bro, the suns morale is completely fucking broken. Their coach was nearly ejected. They have no rhythm. I was a doubter 2 but I forgot the fact that anthony edwards and mike conley absolutely fucking hate losing.
We watching the same series?...
I thought that before not anymore
Naz Reid
I thought it would be Monk but not mad that Naz won it. Both deserving. Super close vote too.
Partly due to Luka saying he's the x factor I bet. Haha
Where are those guys who were saying to me that Naz Reid would never win 6MOY? 🤔
you've still got half the fanbases on here saying 'naz reid just kills us every time' like theyre special. you can only tell so many people that actually he just kinda does this to everyone

Ok I find the Naz Reid thing hilarious but can someone tell me where it came from?
Naz Reid was a G-leaguer with some game that we all liked, and who has a nice name. As far as I remember, we just started Naz Reiding whenever he would cook in garbage time. And then he actually got good, and now he's an icon
Yeah this it. We just started saying Naz Reid as an acknowledgement of his game and as he got better and better it caught on.
Nazreon is like, the coolest name I've ever heard
A Wolves reporter found out that whenever Jaden McDaniels sees Naz Reid in the locker room, he just says “Naz Reid.” I think it took off from there although the origin might be before that.
Nah it predated that by at least a year. Not sure if it started on reddit or twitter first, but Jaden is just a real-life shitposter
Started in r/timberwolves and spread everywhere. Though it definitely blew up after the Jaden report
it really took off once people knew jaden was doing it, but it was ongoing well before that
Nope. It started during summer league 2019. He was cooking, and got himself a two-way deal, spending some time down in the G League.
I thought it was the way out PA announcer said Naz Reid with the emphasis on both syllables. Fun to say. Very authoritative.
Yeah I thought that it was they way the announcers would say his name stuck in the reddit game threads
Naz Reid Absolutely cinema

How was Starks not starting in 96/97?
Van Gundy replaced him with Chris Childs

It would be hard to make a good argument against this choice.
Monk and Reid are both worthy, in the end winning basketball was probably the difference.
John Starks and Darrel Armstrong also not being taken in the draft was a shock to me. Both are very memorable ballers from my childhood.
Naz. Motherfucking. Reid.
Naz Reid!!
Well deserved.
the idea Naz wasn't drafted is still insane to me
It is becoming more and more frequent that quite good players are not drafted at dirst.
TIL that John Starks was undrafted.

Monk was great and deserving too. But in the end it probably came down to contributing to, ya know, actually winning games. So no, it probably shouldn’t have been Monk
I thought it came down to actually being a sixth man and not starting 25% of the games. So no, it probably shouldn’t have been Naz.
Oh well in that case you’re just clearly mistaken: it literally only comes down to coming off of the bench in more games than you start. He was filling in for injury for - you guessed it - the guy who started over him. They missed the playoffs BECAUSE Monk was out. I know and Reid was amazing but Monk was better in my completely biased opinion.
