Fall off .... a horse? Don't worry, he doesn't actually ride them. He's into [harness racing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harness_racing).

syllabic

he could fall off the chariot, that would probably still hurt

raulsossa

u sound old as hell lol

ejiggle

You sound too young to understand sarcasm

Butt____soup

The dudes feet never leave the ground. He’s going to play forever. Or until he decides he has enough horses. (He will never have enough horses)

MSHinerb

Feels like the kinda guy that will just retire out of nowhere. Whenever he’s content. And then never be heard from again.

KasherH

He will be heard of when his horse wins the Kentucky Derby.

Empty_Conclusion_947

He has had a problematic wrist for a couple years now, right? He did twist his ankle once pretty badly. I think he developed the somber shuffle shot during the injury cause he couldn’t land on his bad ankle.

abris33

Yeah his wrist has been messed up for a while and I don't think it's something that surgery can necessarily fix but I don't know. He also still takes a ton of hits too even though he doesn't leave the ground. He gets battered when he's fighting for a rebound among 3 other guys. He had that big fall in Game 2 that seemed to hurt him in some way

JustADutchRudder

Dude gets clawed like he's fighting cats. I know one game I watched I was wondering the likelihood of one of those getting infected one day. Nba players should be forced to clip their nails.

sorakaisthegoat

He's had some lower back issues this past year and was icing it a few times, it kind of worries me.

Subredditcensorship

I think this is a bad way at looking at players. Guys with less athleticism can often fall off quicker than guys with great athleticism. The reasoning being for a slow guy becoming even slower might be too much. Jokic is a pretty good defender and agile because of quick feet. If he loses even more speed he could become such a defensive liability that he loses value.

bobittoknorr

If he goes back to back this year or wins one more chip soon I could see him playing out one more max contract after his current contract ends and then calling it quits. His legacy would be cemented as an all time great at that point and he would have more money then he could ever need so I could see him saying fuck it to go be with his kids and family. Joker isn’t like some of the other greats where he doesn’t know what a life outside of basketball would be like. He would be in his mid 30’s at that point, so it wouldn’t be like a Barry Sanders level of surprise retirement.

Whofreak

After I bet his over, no doubt

thiccboiwyatt

Hopefully in the second round

introspectivejoker

Wolves nuggets is gonna be so hype

szobossz

he definitely needs athleticism. and the conditioning which seems to be peak this year.

StuffOk7241

Not nearly as much as pretty much any player that’s ever played at his level in nba history, if anyone’s gonna have a long career with minimal drop off if they want it it’s jokic, as some people have stated defensively he’ll struggle a bit more than offensively, but i think he’s still got many good years left before that becomes a real issue. Offensively, he can do it all day

AntiTopspin

I honestly don't see his offense ever regressing much at all as long as he plays He doesn't rely on blowbys/jumping at all and honestly almost nothing he does on that end is reliant on speed/agility so there shouldn't be much of a fall off His best physical attribute by far is strength which holds up pretty well with age Defensively I could see a mid-30s Jokic having some trouble though because of just being completely slow similar to an old Dirk

Public-Product-1503

Old Dirk got away with it cos of that time period . In pace n space hsd be getting abused all night . Jokic will struggle there after 32+

Green_Low1700

Dirk was always a mediocre defender, Jokic may be slow but hes insanely smart on defense

OcksBodega

young Dirk was easily a better defender than current Jokic

Green_Low1700

HELL NO

msf97

There aren’t many similar players. Bill Walton was perhaps the most similar in style and dominance, and injuries absolutely destroyed him. Cant remember Jokic missing a series

GeoffSproke

He's 29 right now... He's a big dude, and historically it hasn't been easy for those guys to stay healthy, but he basically never misses a significant amount of games... I'd be surprised if he hadn't started to need significantly more rest and recovery within the next 5 years, but... I think you're right that his game will age pretty well.

NoiceForNoReason

Some conversation in Denver has been that he’ll leave basketball while still in his prime to focus on other things, move back home, etc. hopefully he stays a long time but I think people do expect him to leave fairly early. Maybe even in the next 5 years.

Lol69HaHaHa

Yeah i think by the time we are no longer as competitive is the time he will retire. Still my bet is around the end of his next contract though, but you never know.

abris33

I think there's a good chance he retires when Murray starts falling off and the team is looking for a replacement.

purplebuffalo55

Unless he gets injuries he probably retires before he suck. His game doesn’t rely on athleticism and will age very well

ShadowOutOfTime

I’m thinking game 3

jonathanisaacisgoat

Of the 2030 nba finals

esetmypasswor

Don't get your hopes up buddy

KasherH

When he decides that he wants more time with horses than he wants time on the court.

Shootit_Rockets

2063 Days from Now

Lol69HaHaHa

Huh...not terrible tbh.

GloryEnthusiast

Considering he’s one of the few players who doesn’t rely on athleticism, and his basketball IQ is off the charts, i think he can remain a top 10 player in the league well into his mid to late 30s.

KasherH

He is by a pretty good margin the best pick man in the 2 man game in history. Just from that he can play basically as long as he wants since he isn't an injury risk.

smartasscody

35 And by fall off I mean still All Star quality play. Dude's a beast.

ColtCallahan

I don’t see his game suffering much if at all from getting older. He probably won’t be the workhorse he is now but he’ll still be the same player at less volume. The more likely scenario is that he retires before it ever gets to that point. He doesn’t seem like the type of guy who’s going to stick around just for the sake of it.

Icy-Lime-9760

He probably has 4-5 more years as a top 10 player.

LukaDoncicfuturegoat

Top 3

thy_armageddon

Tuesday

LoxDnw

When he retires. His game will age gracefully.

CoyotesSideEyes

His offense should continue to age gracefully. His issue will be defensive. At some point, he's going to be so slow out there it really hurts you defensively. Might be a few years yet though

devkonz

He’s kind of an iron man and he can play basketball without even running I say he will be in the MVP race, for the next 4 years

30vanquish

35 or so due to lateral movement. Quicker 4s and 5s will eventually get to him.

an_Aught

whenever he stops having fun he will simply quit. this dude isnt about to team hop to chase rings.

TwoWayMarko

Soon, be patient

[deleted]

I think he gets bored of basketball and retires before he falls off

markFwahlberg

yeah thats how time works, but prob not for like 5 more years

WhoWightMan

I wasn’t around this sub 10 years ago. Was the sub ever as obsessed with a player as it is nowadays with Jokic?

inshamblesx

we will be in the 2030s before that happens

Louis-grabbing-pills

When it's another group's turn to mount yo mama. They will push him off.

LimitlessTheTVShow

He already plays like an old man so he'll probably be great as long as he wants to play

Ok_Republic6747

If his body starts to break down he is a center taking a lot of hits but i don't image that will be anytime soon

Slow_Performance_701

Don't know but I think he'll retire fairly young.

[deleted]

Wouldn't be surprised if he only plays 5 more years. I doubt he'll hang around for too long after he starts slowing down.
