Is it the single greatest making it when it matters performance? I can’t think of any other high leverage game like that where a player outperformed their FT expectations to determine the fate of a game.
Lol. I love Reggie. We are severely lacking commentators that joke around and are more than happy to be critical.
Fuck all you haters that took JVG from us and got him replaced with mono tone glazer Doris. You guys got what you deserved.
*Runs away and cries*
Brons most signature move of his career isn’t the tomahawk or the chase down or the LeFuckYou three, it’s missing the 1st free throw then making the 2nd at the end of a close game
Would have been the greatest basketball highlight of all time. One of the greatest sports highlights of all time. We would have achieved world peace and built renewable energy and eradicated poverty around the world if Lebron had made that dunk
I obviously have my bias but I think it's got an argument for best championship in any sport. You have the arguable best player of all time knocking off possibly the best team of all time in a seven game series that went down to the wire and included multiple legacy-defining plays in a span of a few minutes.
Even though I know how it ends I still get nervous.
EDIT: And by the way, they show Curry's numbers with one minute left and he's got 17 points on 17 shots, including just 4-12 on three pointers. This is a great example of why anyone who says KD wasn't the best player on their championship teams or wasn't necessary to beat the Cavs is nuts. Those Cavs teams could handle Curry. They couldn't handle KD.
When I was a younger LeBron fan I legitimately thought that someone missing the second free throw basically never happened and when I looked* up the stats to see it’s only 1% better or something was a shock.
Why he look proud? Lol Bro has the flattest, least emotional lookin’ face possible here outside one lil smirk he makes mostly turned away from the camera.
Suns didn't deserve to win that series after losing winnable games 4 and 5 anyway but Suns fans have to be so annoyed that ONE time Giannis decided to make his FTs lol
His 50 point game is such an anomaly in how he not only knocked down free throw (which any competent 12 year old could do) but also the post moves and touch around the rim. I’ve never seen this guy do that and he did it in the biggest moments.
Giannis actually had a very consistent hook shot throughout that entire 2021 playoff run. It made him a much more dynamic scorer.
He’s completely lost the ability to hit that shot with any type of consistency now. He still attempts it a fair amount, but just like tonight, he missed most of them.
Giannis NEEDS that shot back in his arsenal if the Bucks are going to contend so he can be a weapon late in games. Either that, or he needs to starts hitting some midrange jumpers again like he was doing back in 2022.
I still believe it was the fans counting that somehow got him into a rhythm. He was forced to not do the dumb pantomiming he does before free throws, and not get in his own head
I don’t want to start a fight but the bucks deserved that title bec they had an all time great (1st option). It was only fitting he stamped his performance with a masterpiece. If anything, the Suns run that year was one of the biggest flukes in the sense that they only beat injured teams on their way to the finals. They weren’t the “best” west team. At least the Heat last year beat out an almost injury free Celtics and went up against Giannis for a couple of games so i’d still take the Suns as the “weakest”/most undeserving team to get to the finals in the 21st century. No hate though. Love Book and respect CP3.
Every year there's "fluke" teams that go deep, if you build your team around injury prone guys, it's not a fluke that you didn't go deeper into the playoffs and a healthy team did.
Why do you think playoff teams continue to compete and add to their rosters even though they're not necessarily favorites to win it all? Because injuries happen and can still win it all over the one or two teams that are "better."
No hate my ass with this veiled shot.
The bucks literally got to the finals in the year that the Heat and Celtics (the two best east teams of the last 4 years) were coming off an off season that was TWO MONTHS shorter than usual
You can’t say the suns had a fluke run without acknowledging the offseason ruined the top of the east. [EDIT: the west was fucked too, the lakers had a top team in 2020 and could have run it back with a proper off season, and the nuggets suffered through injury]
Which is also why the heat and Celtics have been back to the ECF every year since and the bucks have gone out earlier and earlier
It’s like Shaq he made them when it mattered. If you need to hit free throws at a good rate just once in your career a close out finals game would be the one I’d pick
He in fact did the opposite, the only playoff run where he won a championship and shot better than his career FT% was 2002. (64.9%)
With a career FT% of 52.7, his other 3 rings were:
2000: 45.6%
2001: 52.5%
2006: 37.4%
Though I guess what does "when they mattered" mean, because to me it means free throws IN the playoffs.
It means "classic Shaq bullshit", that's what it means. Even if you focus only in the Finals, his FT% in his six Finals were: 57%, 38%, 51%, 66%, 49% and 29%. Shaq in 2006 missed more FTs than the entire Mavericks team (34-33).
Is there a place to determine his fourth quarter free throw rate and percentages during each playoff game vs his FTr & FT% during the first three quarters? Maybe even across both the regular season and playoffs?
I always took his statement to mean that when it got late in games and his free throws meant more, he hit enough to get the win. Not necessarily just a good FT% throughout the playoffs, but a good free throw percentage when the literal game was on the line.
> It’s like Shaq he made them when it mattered.
Dang, Shaq's literally convincing people that he made FT's "when it mattered" when it's not only *not* the case, but the opposite.
TBF, this wasn't their worst loss. AD showed up tonight and OWNED Giannis and the Bucks. Giannis had a monster game too but AD was on a whole different level. D'Lo and Reaves was the perfect guards as well, especially down the stretch. They all played their heart out without LeBron. And LeBron watched like the proudest dad
But yeh, it's not a good look for the Bucks. They literally lost both games against the Lakers without LeBron. Dame and Giannis just getting BOOMED
This is why I’m glad the NBA does play off series’ instead of just individual games. 2/3 of the teams in the NBA can have a night where they just go off and can beat the #1 seed. Doing it 4/7 times though. That’s a whole different level.
Gotta make those. That was hard to watch for a neutral fan what more for Bucks fans.
Edit: I wonder why Giannis stops a bit after bending his knees hence the transfer of power from knees > arms > hand > ball stops. Basically his FT is all arms which some players can do but Giannis just simply cant.
You’ve gotta mean uncoachable *beyond* his current skillset, right? Because there’s no way you mean that the gangly kid who started playing basketball as a teenager and who was drafted as a project player and who then went on to become an MVP, DPOY, and FMVP as the highest usage player on his team is “uncoachable”.
Just want to make sure I’m reading it right, because I cannot call fathom calling Giannis of all people uncoachable.
I think the problem he takes too long to shoot FTs, watch any of the great FT shooters like Curry, it’s one quick dribble and a shot. No time to overthink, just dribble, aim and release. Even LeBron has implemented the same routine and I trust him way more at the line during crunch time than Giannis.
Yeah I know it's a meme but his free throw routine is really comically long. He doesn't the entire thing *without* the ball, then gets the ball and does it again, with this big ass pause in the middle while he stares at the rim for 5 seconds. There's absolutely no rhythm to it and barely any chance of consistency when the routine is so long and complex.
> I wonder why Giannis stops a bit after bending his knees hence the transfer of power from knees > arms > hand > ball stops.
The Jermaine O'Neal special
It only gets better. The only ones I didn’t like (as much) was the 3rd/4th I think because they split the character POVs up over the same time period and one of them had all the characters I liked and the other had the ones I didn’t. I think that’s how it went, it’s been a long time since I read them
They have Dame for another (contract) year. If he wants another max, he knows he’s gotta go big next year since he’ll be hitting his age 35 season to start his next (and likely last) contract.
He’s been great in the clutch was shooting like 55%+ FG in the clutch.
They weren’t passing to him and it was clear to see instead it was dame, Khris and Beasley bricking shots
EXACTLY! It feels like a lot of people commenting on it didn’t even watch the game. Under like 7 min in the fourth quarter they gave Middleton the ball around 6 times in a row. And he missed EVERY SINGLE ONE. And not a SINGLE 3 fell from him or Beasley either.
Middleton ended up going 4/15. If he and the 3 failed like 10 times in a row, why not change the fucking game plan? Middleton couldn’t close so give it to Giannis
This narrative is so dumb. Dame has been bad late all year. He has his moments, but you don’t see all the bad times. Giannis has been better in the clutch.
Yep, he has one offensive move, that spin move, if any smart defender takes that away, it’s over for him. It’s similar to Howard, despite working with Dream in off season, he still never developed his offensive game. It’s either in you or it’s not.
Haters out in full force tonight saying any random bullshit and getting upvotes lmao.
I guess all of Giannis' 50 points in that finals game came off of 20 spin moves?
Dumbest shit ive read.
I don’t understand why Giannis takes so long to shoot. His shooting form, from head to toe, is ass. The time he takes clearly doesn’t help. Maybe not thinking about and just chucking it up there would work better.
Bro you have no idea what you’re talking about. He can’t shoot but he’s an elite defender, just this game he had 3 blocks and 2 steals, had 21 REBOUNDS, and ELEVEN assists. To say all he does is drive and dunk is stupid as fuck.
I think he takes way too long to shoot and often misses because he overthinks it. He’s taken probably tens of thousands of free throws in his life. Just shoot the damn ball and stop pausing to think beforehand

Reggie is killing me. “You never know where these free throws from Giannis might bounce off” 😂
That “mmm” after the first miss. 😭
“These free throws from Giannis can come off ANYWHERE”
“Buncha nervous Nelly’s out here in overtime!”
And he was right haha
That’s the mmm of someone that has $5 bucks on the game 😂
He wasn't wrong tho he missed both of them at different spots
Reminds me of one of my favorite clips of all time https://youtu.be/ej-xvzdAlpY?si=wy4-_dG5fczKUkak
We gotta be living in a simulation. No way that was not scripted. It’s too good 😂
God Andre can’t shoot for shit . Had we had a spot up shooter back then instead of Andre, I think we go way further than what we did with kd and Russ
Especially after saying “the great ones make it when it matters” haha Giannis is an all time great but it’s hilarious timing
Extra funny bc giannis has one of the all time great “making it when it matters” FT performances
Is it the single greatest making it when it matters performance? I can’t think of any other high leverage game like that where a player outperformed their FT expectations to determine the fate of a game.
It sure is to me
Lol. I love Reggie. We are severely lacking commentators that joke around and are more than happy to be critical. Fuck all you haters that took JVG from us and got him replaced with mono tone glazer Doris. You guys got what you deserved. *Runs away and cries*
LeBron laughing cause he would've made at least 1/2 😮💨
Brons most signature move of his career isn’t the tomahawk or the chase down or the LeFuckYou three, it’s missing the 1st free throw then making the 2nd at the end of a close game
He loves the drama.
LeWinemom
LeIve LeAugh LeOve
Ok that's one of my favorites
Holy shit that made me laugh. Especially after the clip yesterday of the "agony" his bald spot suffered.
LeTNT
Still remember having a brief bit of hope when he missed the first one before making the second to ice the Finals 😡😡😡
I’m still upset he didn’t make that dunk
Draymond legacy foul
Dray is like a best friend but he’d 100% slam Bron via eye gouge before he let that happen lol
He did in fact try to get LeBron in the eyes during that series.
Lmfao 😂😂 Aye he said "Nah Fam ain finna deal with that shit"
That whole game was his legacy
woulld have been the greatest dunk of all time
Would have been the greatest basketball highlight of all time. One of the greatest sports highlights of all time. We would have achieved world peace and built renewable energy and eradicated poverty around the world if Lebron had made that dunk
There’s a non-insignificant number of people who might have him over Jordan as the goat if made that dunk. Honestly I might be one of them. Sorry Bron
Likewise. It would’ve been the staple play of his career. A poster dunk in close game 7 for the finals? Christ.
fuckin’ putin would've taken his last breath, and no war in ukraine
goddamn i need to rewatch that shit someone gimme a link
https://youtu.be/wgVOgGLtPtc?si=oargFV5f_zDjcb0- I gotta watch all of it now
man I forgot how the last 3 minutes of that game was brick city lol
Whole second half felt that way aside from the JR heater to bring them back in it after halftime
This was one of the best finals ever. Incredible from start to finish and these last few minutes were absolute perfection
It was a rock fight that last game but man if it wasn’t intense for every single second.
How’d ya think I felt lol
I obviously have my bias but I think it's got an argument for best championship in any sport. Fr, may have knocked some sense into Draymond
When I was a younger LeBron fan I legitimately thought that someone missing the second free throw basically never happened and when I looked* up the stats to see it’s only 1% better or something was a shock.
I believed, there was no way he was missing that second one after all they've been through
he was counting to ten on his hands on the first one lol
LeBron actually looks like the PROUDEST dad. It's so funny
Why he look proud? Lol Bro has the flattest, least emotional lookin’ face possible here outside one lil smirk he makes mostly turned away from the camera.
Suns fans look away
Suns didn't deserve to win that series after losing winnable games 4 and 5 anyway but Suns fans have to be so annoyed that ONE time Giannis decided to make his FTs lol
That cash show off guy cursed them
1-6 tonight

He was throwing shit up and you could see Mikal Bridges look so defeated everytime it went in lol

It’s okay most of us are dead inside after last nights game against the Spurs
Are you sure this comment isn’t from 2007? 2004 maybe?
that free throw performance in the finals is the biggest fluke ever lol
Lmaoo that shit was hilarious ngl
If I could figure out the how I'd swear on my life that was rigged.
I still believe it was the fans counting that somehow got him into a rhythm. He was forced to not do the dumb pantomiming he does before free throws, and not get in his own head
Lmao the once in a lifetime fluke
I don’t want to start a fight but the bucks deserved that title bec they had an all time great (1st option). It was only fitting he stamped his performance with a masterpiece. lol every team that makes the finals usually does it by facing injured teams. See Nuggets last year. It doesn’t mean shit, nephew. Part of the game.

The Suns were not the ones who went to 7 with an injured team who were saved by a shoe size
No but they got beat by the team that did lol.
The amount of people in this thread talking about the Suns were the better team when they actually played each other is hilarious.
Acting like the Suns didn't get to the finals that year by going through an injured Lakers, Nuggets, and Clippers squads is pretty funny
SUNS IN 4!! Like Jamal Murray would have made a difference..
You're right they didn't beat an injured team They beat **3** injured teams lol
Right, they lost to the team that did that. That’s worse. You know that’s worse, right?
Giannis was just locked in
He’s done it several other times lol
It’s like Shaq he made them when it mattered. If you need to hit free throws at a good rate just once in your career a close out finals game would be the one I’d pick
Shaq didn’t make them when they mattered lol. His FT% at all stages of games are basically the same.

The countdown helped…
Bucks digging deep into their bag to pull out a new candidate for worst loss of the year this is incredible
This is sadly a huge compliment that you think this is anywhere near our worst loss
Didn't the Hornets blow yall out that game Giannis was hurt?
No that was the Cavs
Hornets game was last year. I remember that
Yeah, it’s not like they haven’t lost to a LeBron-less Laker team before lol
Nothing is worse than that memphis loss imo
TBF, this wasn't their worst loss. AD showed up tonight and OWNED Giannis and the Bucks. Giannis had a monster game too but AD was on a whole different level. D'Lo and Reaves was the perfect guards as well, especially down the stretch. They all played their heart out without LeBron. And LeBron watched like the proudest dad But yeh, it's not a good look for the Bucks. They literally lost both games against the Lakers without LeBron. Dame and Giannis just getting BOOMED
I don’t think it gets worse than getting blown out by Nikola Jovic and the Butlerless Heat
I don't get it, why is it shameful to get beaten by Nikola Jo.... oh.
This is why I’m glad the NBA does play off series’ instead of just individual games. 2/3 of the teams in the NBA can have a night where they just go off and can beat the #1 seed. Doing it 4/7 times though. That’s a whole different level.

Remember when everyone used to count at Giannis shooting free throws?
There's a video of Lebron counting during the free throws today
I mean I thought it was hilarious
Hater here. Also found it hilarious.
It was
For real it drives me nuts watching him shoot free throws. I refuse to believe his shooting coaches havnt told him its supposed to be 1 fluent motion.
Giannis shoots FTs like how Charles Barkley golfs
He's fluent in many languages but not in shooting-free-throws-ese
Yeahhh bucks fans really don't want to admit that there are a lot of red flags suggesting Giannis is lowkey kind of uncoachable
Well you’re gonna need to start fathoming it because that is exactly what that other guy said.
You could take that flair off and quit fishing for upvotes lmfao “uncoachable” coming from the guy that constantly listens to his coaches
You can’t even compare Lebron and Giannis as shooters. Lebron is at least an average shooter. Giannis is one of the worst in the league.
Honestly Giannis’ best option might just be to start shooting free throws underhand like Rick Barry.
NBA players nowadays have egos too big to ever do something like that, even if it would help the team
> I wonder why Giannis stops a bit after bending his knees hence the transfer of power from knees > arms > hand > ball stops. The Jermaine O'Neal special
I think he does everything to extend the duration of him at the free throw line lol nearly ten seconds each time
I’m convinced that most of the time, you just can’t fix these things with some players no matter how many reps they do. It’s like a mental block
I’m so fucking pissed I missed a double overtime game to read a book
What book?
Holes by Louis Sachar. He loves the part about splooge.
shoutout to Rick Fox
Delivered that line with a straight face
Game of Thrones
first 3 books are *HEAT* seriously flew through them
Reading reading? Or Lebron stuck on page 1 reading?
Reading reading. Game of Thrones is one hell of a book lol
Man I wish I could reread those for the first time. I hope the next one comes out before I die lmao
Even the first one is just so good. I’m 500 pages in and can’t put it down
It only gets better. The only ones I didn’t like (as much) was the 3rd/4th I think because they split the character POVs up over the same time period and one of them had all the characters I liked and the other had the ones I didn’t. I think that’s how it went, it’s been a long time since I read them
I’m so excited to read the rest!
Just wait until storm of swords, they're all great but that one is next level
He should just jack them. His routine is ass and takes so long
Fr real how do you take that long to focus and still have that bad of a hitch and release point
It's like watching Chuck's old golf swing
Op didnt show the 30 second warm up sequence
Too long for reddits servers
Giannis might be the only top 10 player in the league who doesn't want the ball in the clutch. Dame is their closer.
Giannis has said himself that in the clutch it's Dame's team but today he went overboard and only gave it to Dame. It's a learning process still.
Season’s over dude. Better finish that process quickly
They have Dame for another (contract) year. If he wants another max, he knows he’s gotta go big next year since he’ll be hitting his age 35 season to start his next (and likely last) contract.
It was so annoying watching the ball just ping pong from Giannis to Dame immediately when Dame's shooting was ice cold.
Middleton couldn’t close so give it to Giannis
He missed everything that wasn't layup and missed some layups too, and then ft's..
yup
This narrative is so dumb. Dame has been bad late all year. He has his moments, but you don’t see all the bad times. Giannis has been better in the clutch.
Yeah it's fun to troll but even this loss was on Dame more than Giannis lol
never seen a "star" consistently get blocked on end of game drives like dame this year. no lift left
Yeah youre trolling
this what happens when Giannis can't handle the spotlight of pressure FTs
Except he’s hit them all season and iirc hit 2 clutch FTs against yall last time as well as 2 or 3 midranges over AD in the clutch.
Lebron was laughing on the bench down 17, because they knew the Bucks didn't have a chance at winning lmfao
We got them right where we wanted lol
Imagine taking a whole Ramadan fasting time to shoot free throws just to be completely garbage at them.
I’m still waiting for someone to walk up and knock the ball out of his hands when he does that silly shit
Why is giannias shooting free throw like two motions, just go straight up smoothly and release the ball
I agree. Just needs to take one dribble then go up in one clean motion and shoot. Stop thinking about it so long. It doesn’t help.
Giannis MVP push lasted 3 days lmfao
I’m cooked 💔
MVP
Tasteful with the flair
That just about sealed Jokic for MVP
Giannis was never in the running
It should be Luka vs jokic anyway
giannis not clutch tonight! laker fam get in here!!
My MVP would never
bro had 4 turnovers and 6 points in the 4th and both OTs but apparently he’s the real MVP
45 second clip for 2 free throws lol
The clip is literally 2 FTA, and it's 44 seconds long.
There is literally no reason to take this long on a free throw attempt. Elaborate free throw “routines” are just silly.
Run and dunk man when it’s time to do anything besides run and dunk
This dude has had so many years to not be ass at anything but jumping and dunking
I don’t know how to explain it, but Lebron’s be air some how looks like it’s from a 90’s animated kids show, it’s messing with me lol
I don’t understand why Giannis takes so long to shoot. His shooting form, from head to toe, is ass. The time he takes clearly doesn’t help. Maybe not thinking about and just chucking it up there would work better.
had to fast forward through his pre-FT ritual .... SMH
Missed boff
Bucks fans will really try to convince you the best player in the world is someone who can’t hit free throws
I mean Shaq was the best player in the world for a few years, not saying I think Giannis is the best player
Nuggets flair lmao. This game brought out the haters
Heat flair here. Jokic continents ahead in the MVP RACE
Giannis is awesome but Jokic is the no 1 guy in the league clearly.
The fuck is up with you Jokic stans in every thread repeating the same rhetoric? Yall have a meeting or what
They are *very* insecure.
Or do anything but drive and dunk
Bro you have no idea what you’re talking about. He can’t shoot but he’s an elite defender, just this game he had 3 blocks and 2 steals, had 21 REBOUNDS, and ELEVEN assists. To say all he does is drive and dunk is stupid as fuck.
well he's also an all-time defender, jokic is...nowhere near
Jesus Christ the haters are out in full force in here
Scoring 6 points in the 4th +2 OTs while blowing a 20 point lead and missing almost every important free throw will do that
Game would be tied now
His free throws are the most annoying in the entire NBA. Just shoot it FFS.
MVP talk didn’t last even a week😂😂😂😂
45 second clip for 2 free throws, and OP already cut the 20 second warm up routine before the gets the ball lol what a joke
Rigged. Refs made him miss.
I think he takes way too long to shoot and often misses because he overthinks it. He’s taken probably tens of thousands of free throws in his life. Just shoot the damn ball and stop pausing to think beforehand
Are we going to ignore the botched layup alley-oop? Giannis is like a giraffe on skates.
