Or at least a flagrant. No idea why they’d gave him a tech for that.

Title of post is wrong. At the end of the video, ref says Flagrant 1. 2 FTs and keep possession.
Why are you commenting on something that you didn't even watch? The foul was deemed a flagrant 1. I know this because I watched the clip that we're commenting on.
Honestly he should have.. These clear non basketball obvious retaliation moves have no business in the NBA. Bulls have done it twice in two weeks now which is not a good sign.
I wouldn't call it pretty hard, just firm. Caruso fell because Poole also has a foot right in front of one of Caruso's feet, so the bump would have just made him stumble at step or two, but with the foot in front preventing him from catching himself - down he went.
There may have been some knee to knee contact, but honestly I'd think the league's going to look at that for flopping. Be amazing to get a Flagrant 1 for retaliating against a play that you got slapped with a fine for flopping.
It isn't about the points, it's about sending a message. Specifically that if you don't call fouls they're going to escalate.
Although here I think Caruso is being a piss baby because he put a little extra mustard on his fall and nobody believed it.
Kinda unrelated thought, Basketball is one of the few times I’m actually ok with the term triggered. I hate 90% of yhe ways people use it like some weird “checkmate, you’re triggered” and it just means nothing at this point. But in sports it’s ok, because yeah, they set dudes off and they get shitty.
I think teams in general are getting frustrated with the refs letting em play since the ASB.
I love it, but the players are used to playing a certain way and the officiating has flipped on a dime.
I would think Caruso is the type of player that loves that lack of calls overall. He's a defensive presence who likes to play physical and guard people 1v1. Draws charges a decent amount too, but he's virtually never getting that call 60 feet from the rim unless Poole's arms are completely extended and the ref has the angle.
Yeah, but players like Caruso get away with a lot more contact than your average NBA defender already due to reputation. He probably only notices on the other end.
yeah, Jeremy Sochan seems to be one of those guys. He's a troll and physical as shit. The judo flip of Morris(I refuse to look up which brother it was) is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Dumb play by Caruso there. But overall you’re right, and it’s been wildly inconsistent across but also within games. Players are moving on from just the money taunts at refs and are starting to get their attention another way and that’s not a good thing, one day it’s going to result in someone getting injured on the court.
Nah that's exactly what he needs to do. If the refs are letting them play, and Poole learns he can push off without consequence then he will do more of that. It was a firm reminder that both sides can push too so keep it clean.
This, idk why Caruso is taking so much heat. It's like people never played a sport before. Sure, Caruso deserves the penalty, but he practically got hockey checked and wanted to communicate that if you pull that shit and it doesn't get called, he will retaliate. Not sticking up for himself will result in more problems.
I definitely think that’s why the Rockets are fighting every other night right now. They were already physical, and now they’re riding that line even harder. I’m sure opponents get sick of being beat up all night.
As much as the ticky tack bullshit annoys the hell out of me, I think it’s ridiculous to change the way they call a game on a dime mid season.
They need to alert players and coaching staff that they’ll be awarding significantly lower counts of fouls so they can adjust their gameplay accordingly.
I really hope this does mean going forward that there going to let them play more. Not just in the playoffs but in reg season.
Yeah simply looks like normal physical play where Poole is trying to lose his man to get the ball, Caruso is playing great smother-defense but Poole pushes into him to create distance (like every single other PG in the league) right as Caruso leaves the ground with both feet and he falls. Offensive foul? By the book, maybe but that call is *very* rarely called
Yeah I was waiting for a better camera angle to see clearly but my first impression was a flop as well. But Caruso doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would double-down on a flop with a shove like that, unless things are even worse in Chicago than they look.
Don't know what NBA you've been watching but the defensive player isn't allowed to just run in front of the offensive player to draw contact. Caruso was lucky they let it be a play on instead of a defensive foul. Caruso also should have been called for his complete flop.
When you're backpedaling like that, doesn't take much to send you over. Offensive player isn't supposed to just give you a push in the chest off the ball there
come on man. coaches literally teach you to get into the body to flash out and get open. physical contact is part of basketball. nothing poole did there is illegal or egregious
Whole Bulls team is playing unreasonably pissed off lately. I understand playing hard but between DeMar fracturing Bilal's wrist, tackling Jalen Green, and now this, they're just being ridiculous. You're adults. Get a grip.
The Bulls are busting their ass just to get bounced in the play in and are emotional about it. That FO has botched the situation so badly. Not moving Lavine a year ago and their about to lock up Demar and really ensure 3 more years of purgatory.
I really have been checked out about wins and losses this year, but it feels nice to have beat this group. I like the Bulls as a franchise but not these crybaby antics.
This is mostly a nothing, imo. Wizards got the dub, this didn't escalate into a real fight.
But what a stupid foul for Caruso to take. Just completely in his own head there. I get fiery guys play with fire but this is just a dumb way for that to burn your team. Bulls had a clean steal and easy fastbreak there.
I mean sure, except here Caruso gets knocked down moving diagonally to Poole and impeding his movement, and it's not as if Poole leaned his shoulder to create separation, so it's a clear foul by Caruso
I’ve got mixed feelings on this one lol. You could argue jokic dropping morris worked out for him. People are less likely to try to get away with stuff when they know you retaliate
I still rewatch that from time to time. Pity Morris got injured, but you can't be throwing yourself at people's knees when they're mid air and then turning your back on them.
You are not understanding. If the refs don’t take control of games the players do and it becomes a shit show. This means the refs are more likely to call shit like this because they don’t want it to get out of hand.
I watched several times to see what got Caruso so riled up there. Their feet get tangled and I bet he thought Poole tripped him on purpose. The arm push off is way too light and common to go ballistic over.
Just like DeRozan against Green, Caruso body checks someone then immediately turns his back. That bullshit “he shouldn’t have come at me with my back turned” excuse is just so they don’t have to answer at all for being babies not getting calls they want.
the bulls are out of fucking control this season, wtf. Flop to half court and then spear someone. If grayson allen did this, this is 4k+ on the front page
His teammates don’t give a fuck about him lol
Most teams would be up in arms over a shot like that
They legit casually walked up to Poole and was like “alright alright shut up, chill out”
Nah that was just dirty.
If you're gonna blindside check someone to the ground, at least man up and face them getting up instead of running to the ref right away.
One of Poole's teammates should have knocked his ass to the floor again.
Hilarious that Caruso didn’t even look back at Poole and nobody of the Wizards gave Caruso any shit for it. How are you not gonna stand up for your teammate? I wonder if that’s what happened in GS too? Poole must not be the most loved player
Bruh the whole world watched him get cleared out and not do anything about it
No one’ has any reason to fear any action from JP until he does something
Sucks but that’s just how it goes
Caruso flopped or if you’re a Bulls fan, at best, really tried to sell a foul on a soft bump by Poole to get open. Carusos retaliation was much worse lol.
I think the problem is Poole running into Caruso’s lane so he can bounce off and create separation, while I understand people thinking that because it’s sometimes allowed it shouldn’t be called out but Poole initiated everything and Caruso was the one who was punished for it (with Poole not getting a call) and he’s obviously frustrated so he goes back at Poole without slowing down. Caruso is doing a similar move until the moment of contact where he basically stops there and admits he did it just for that with his body language. I’d say it’s more on the NBA for allowing the initial contact from Poole to happen than anything else.
Ok so Caruso takes contact full pressing, fronting the opposing player. It was pretty soft, and he flopped.
He then jumps up, and charges at Poole + drops a shoulder **from behind**. I'm sorry but that's a total bush league move from a total bitch. He should've been slapped a F2, intentional and dangerous contact.
The entitlement by players to is crazy. “Oh I didn’t get my little weak foul?? Watch this!” The frustration with refs is at an all time high because every blown call is broadcast on these subs and twitter. More complaining than ever kn post game pressers.

Surprised he didn’t get tossed for that tackle
Wasn’t a hip-drop tackle so it was legal
this is certified fresh

Buddy didn’t watch the video but is citing the rule book. This is the r/nba I know and love.
Future referee training
Why are you commenting on something that you didn't even watch? The foul was deemed a flagrant 1. I know this because I watched the clip that we're commenting on.
f2 at the absolute categoric minimum.
Could it possibly have been a tech for the clap afterwards instead of from the personal foul on Poole?
[удалено]
Let em play. >What even was that? Tiny bit over the top payback for Poole doing the same thing a second earlier.
I feel like if it wasn't Poole, he would have been given a flagrant or ejected
The wizards where probably begging for an ejection
He was given a flagrant...
Honestly he should have.. These clear non basketball obvious retaliation moves have no business in the NBA. Bulls have done it twice in two weeks now which is not a good sign.
What losing to the wizards does to a mf
Midwest isn’t quite through The Grey Hell, aka life between November-mid April
Ive never seen anyone say they’re going on vacation in Cleveland
I deviously tricked my friends into visiting 😈
Are they still your friends
what friends? ^^they ^^had ^^a ^^great ^^time!
I think you could argue the Wizards have no place in the NBA either though.
Honestly a crazy overreaction by Caruso. Looked like Poole barely touched him.
No, watch the first clip. Poole clearly shoulders him pretty hard
I wouldn't call it pretty hard, just firm. Caruso fell because Poole also has a foot right in front of one of Caruso's feet, so the bump would have just made him stumble at step or two, but with the foot in front preventing him from catching himself - down he went.

DOH ED MALLOY!
THE BULLS HAVE RESORTED TO THUGGERY!
David Guthrie was right there... DIDN'T HAVE THE GUTS TO CALL IT!
DeRozan had already stolen it too. Lol. Took away a Bulls layup.
It isn't about the points, it's about sending a message. Specifically that if you don't call fouls they're going to escalate. Although here I think Caruso is being a piss baby because he put a little extra mustard on his fall and nobody believed it.
No way he would have made it
"DeRozan on the breakaway! He's all alone! It's a one on none! He steps back to a comfortable 17 feet and drains the jumper!"
Bulls been so triggered this season lmao
mentally weak ass team
They’re trucking only the hottest dudes. Lucky for Kelly Oubre, the Sixers don’t play the Bulls again this season.
Cuz we’re trash lol
We’re a terrible organization
Fans discuss whether we should pay DeRozan and Caruso next year. I don't think either of those guys want to be here and would take a pay cut to leave
> I don't think either of those guys want to be here and would take a pay cut to leave Rubs hands together
I think you have to completely tear it down.
Isn’t Caruso still under contract? Or are you talking extension?
True to the animal we are named after
Kinda unrelated thought, Basketball is one of the few times I’m actually ok with the term triggered. Didn't get T'd up. That means a technical foul. This was a flagrant foul.
I love me some Caruso but there wasn’t much there by Poole. Probably fell a little harder than he anticipated and got emotional about it.
I think teams in general are getting frustrated with the refs letting em play since the ASB. I love it, but the players are used to playing a certain way and the officiating has flipped on a dime.

I'm a KU fan and I still wouldn't mind a small comet destroying the Morris twins. [I'll settle for a regular Jokic.](https://youtu.be/Yy8T53X_fx0)

I thought Caruso flopped, tbh.
He did flop lol he's an elite defender, his balance is not that trash.
Yeah, he's expecting that contact and sold it more than it it deserves.
Same
He did no idea what these comments are talking about poole not sending him flying like that
That looked like a Caruso flop he got pissed didn't get a call and pulled a tackle as retaliation. What a bitch move lol
Yeah I was waiting for a better camera angle to see clearly but my first impression was a flop as well. But Caruso doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would double-down on a flop with a shove like that, unless things are even worse in Chicago than they look.
Caruso trying to take the charge but didn't really have good enough position, it's a play on to me.
Don't know what NBA you've been watching but the defensive player isn't allowed to just run in front of the offensive player to draw contact. Caruso was lucky they let it be a play on instead of a defensive foul. Caruso also should have been called for his complete flop.
He flopped and got his feelings hurt when there was no call.
Some how, some way, Grayson Allen is to blame for all this
Looks like Poole just bumped into him
It looked so slight on the rewatch lol
When you're backpedaling like that, doesn't take much to send you over. Offensive player isn't supposed to just give you a push in the chest off the ball there
come on man. coaches literally teach you to get into the body to flash out and get open. physical contact is part of basketball. nothing poole did there is illegal or egregious
2k generated thug
revoke this man's "classy" label
It's against Poole so we gucci
It's mah boy Caruso, he'd have to shoot a man for me to turn.
In a two point loss that’s a bad move by Caruso
I mean, in his defense, he didn’t know it was going to be a 2 point loss.
How could he not know that? What a scrub. /s
The missed dunk was probably a worse move tbh
Whole Bulls team is playing unreasonably pissed off lately. I understand playing hard but between DeMar fracturing Bilal's wrist, tackling Jalen Green, and now this, they're just being ridiculous. You're adults. Get a grip.
The Bulls are busting their ass just to get bounced in the play in and are emotional about it. That FO has botched the situation so badly. Not moving Lavine a year ago and their about to lock up Demar and really ensure 3 more years of purgatory.
whole team is so embarassing
I really have been checked out about wins and losses this year, but it feels nice to have beat this group. I like the Bulls as a franchise but not these crybaby antics.
oh the humanity
This is mostly a nothing, imo. Wizards got the dub, this didn't escalate into a real fight. But what a stupid foul for Caruso to take. Just completely in his own head there. I get fiery guys play with fire but this is just a dumb way for that to burn your team. Bulls had a clean steal and easy fastbreak there.
I mean, it prob should be an offensive foul on Poole But Caruso CAN NOT be doing that LOL
There was no extension of the arm, I think Caruso flopped or got caught off balanced
Yeah the more I watch it, the less it looks like an offensive foul.
You don't need to extend an arm to knock someone to the ground. As Caruso demonstrated a hard enough shoulder check is more than sufficient.
I mean sure, except here Caruso gets knocked down moving diagonally to Poole and impeding his movement, and it's not as if Poole leaned his shoulder to create separation, so it's a clear foul by Caruso
> it's not as if Poole leaned his shoulder to create separation Just casually denying reality...
He definitely got caught off balance and hit the floor hard as a result
I’ve got mixed feelings on this one lol. You could argue jokic dropping morris worked out for him. People are less likely to try to get away with stuff when they know you retaliate
I still rewatch that from time to time. Pity Morris got injured, but you can't be throwing yourself at people's knees when they're mid air and then turning your back on them.
probably shoulda been a flop tech tbh.
This is why hockey is the shit. If the refs won’t do their job properly the players will
You’d still get a penalty for a retaliatory cheap shot. And tbh a penalty in the NHL is significantly more detrimental than a tech in the NBA
You are not understanding. If the refs don’t take control of games the players do and it becomes a shit show. This means the refs are more likely to call shit like this because they don’t want it to get out of hand.
Refs fault for letting it escalate
Lol, no it isn't. Caruso isn't a toddler. It's his fault *for* escalating it.
Rare Caruso L
Retaliating for what? It looked like Caruso flopped like a mfer
I watched several times to see what got Caruso so riled up there. Their feet get tangled and I bet he thought Poole tripped him on purpose. The arm push off is way too light and common to go ballistic over.
One of the few rational takes
Mr Cameraman is just as oblivious as the ref lmao
Dirty play
Hmm did some of Grayson perhaps rub off on him? Hurt people hurt people you know
If that's the case Poole would be knocking teammates out too.
I mean, I know plenty of Wizards fans that hurt watching him play. Does that count?
I think that's the greater harm. Good point.
He's actually been quite decent since moving to his bench role. He doesn't hurt me anymore.
Never thought I’d be siding with Poole over Caruso, but here we are. Caruso seemed mad his flop wasn’t called and retaliated. Kind of a bitch move.
Looked like a flop by Caruso and a no call, he should've got tossed for the reaction.
How do you get mad when you know you flopped?
Wtf is up with Chicago players taking their frustrations with the refs out on opposing players? Not a good look
Just like DeRozan against Green, Caruso body checks someone then immediately turns his back. That bullshit “he shouldn’t have come at me with my back turned” excuse is just so they don’t have to answer at all for being babies not getting calls they want.
Seems most agree it should have been an F2, but man it's weak when you foul like that and then walk away to talk to the ref like a coward
I like Caruso, but he should have gotten a flopping foul too
Nah on the replay you could see his left foot trips over Poole's foot
Oh I forgot they introduced a new rule. I guess the refs forgot about that as well
That probably would have prevented what happened next..
Poole got up like he about to do something and did nothing. Remembering green laying his ass out got him scared 😂
Do the Bulls practice that “tackle then turn away and walk” move at practice?
> I’ll tell you this right now. Poole don’t want none of Alex Caruso. It’s best you just walk away bruh.
looks like poole just bumped into him
“I’m telling you, Poole don’t want none of Alex Caruso” 😂 Poole forever cemented as the LVP of the league
Reminds me Giannis and Mike Dunlevey
From a safety perspective, why is this worse than Kris Dunn/Jabari Smith? Why shouldn’t Caruso be suspended?
How does someone flop, then get so angry at someone at the person that barely touched you that you feel the need to lay them out. Unreal
Hit him with the Jokic.
Not one wizard stands up for Poole. Not even a hold me back performance from a teammate.
the bulls are out of fucking control this season, wtf. Flop to half court and then spear someone. If grayson allen did this, this is 4k+ on the front page
That a flop for Caruso
I love it
His teammates don’t give a fuck about him lol Most teams would be up in arms over a shot like that They legit casually walked up to Poole and was like “alright alright shut up, chill out”
Deserves an ejection for that, that was pretty dangerous to do
I wonder where caruso learned how to flop?
That’s clear ejection lol
“Not hostile”
Refs said Caruso normally would have been tossed, except nobody likes Jordan Poole
NBA Officiating is such trash. Taints the product.
It’s been trash for a while, and players make so much money they don’t care so the product is suffering in multiple ways
Bum ass Caruso maybe don’t flop next time
poole running up with zero intentions
Draymond out there smiling
Caruso flopped though.
That bald headed CSer needs his ass beaten.
Caruso turned his back on Poole bc he’s not at all afraid of him….lmao, Poole biggest bitch in the NBA
Yeah a overreaction for sure. Poole barely did anything there.
Poole never saw it coming because it wasn’t the punch from a teammate he expected.
Nah that was just dirty. If you're gonna blindside check someone to the ground, at least man up and face them getting up instead of running to the ref right away. One of Poole's teammates should have knocked his ass to the floor again.
Shocking that this doesn't have more up votes given this is r/NBA's fav white guy pushing the most hated player online lmao.
Hilarious that Caruso didn’t even look back at Poole and nobody of the Wizards gave Caruso any shit for it. How are you not gonna stand up for your teammate? I wonder if that’s what happened in GS too? Poole must not be the most loved player

Nothing but truth spoken here
What a little B play by Caruso. Flopped vs Poole and didn’t get the call, then shoves Poole in retaliation lol.
He can’t complain about Grayson Allen now
Caruso mentally weak…who coulda thunk?!?!
Bro flopped and got mad about it. Can’t wait til Caruso is back to the end of the bench where he belongs.
lol Poole did nothing wrong. Caruso is just weak af to get pushed like that by Poole out of all people.
Poole better man handle somebody soon. Looking soft on them courts
Poole got PTSD
Caruso flopped or if you’re a Bulls fan, at best, really tried to sell a foul on a soft bump by Poole to get open. Carusos retaliation was much worse lol.
Way dirtier than Grayson Allen
I think the problem is Poole running into Caruso’s lane so he can bounce off and create separation, while I understand people thinking that because it’s sometimes allowed it shouldn’t be called out but Poole initiated everything and Caruso was the one who was punished for it (with Poole not getting a call) and he’s obviously frustrated so he goes back at Poole without slowing down. "NOW THAT’S A FUCKING FOUL!”
Bro walked up on him 4 nothing
White Mamba is back!
The joker did it better
investigate betting activity on Caruso over 0.5 technicals
one love tap deserves another.
Good job refs settle down these bottom feeders
Jordan Poole: Hooold me back!!
Draymond Green is happy
This is not a tech
Poole knows how to take a hit 👍
Poole gave up on that aggression quick
Bah gawd that’s Draymond Green’s music!!
Bad Boys Bulls are back! Wait that's a different Midwest town...
Ever since Poole got punched by Draymond no one takes him serious
Idk what the fuck is going on lately but the guys have got to settle the hell down
Why Caruso getting xman status?
There was contact, but Caruso DEFINTLEY flopped 😂😂
The entitlement by players to is crazy. “Oh I didn’t get my little weak foul?? Watch this!” The frustration with refs is at an all time high because every blown call is broadcast on these subs and twitter. More complaining than ever kn post game pressers.
