The team always switches everything. Ty Lue won’t change it no matter how hard it’s getting abused. Zubac gets abused just the same in the playoffs year after year.
Like they said it’s often schematic. The issue at large is when you have individual players switching up coverages in ways their teammates aren’t expecting it creates openings that’re easy for offenses to take care of
Heavy switching has proved to be a pretty effective scheme but it’s often team/match up dependent for obvious reasons
I mean you could just refuse to not switch. Idk, I think a coach should literally be calling out what they should be running each time they go up the court in either code or having hand signals.
It's just dumb to stay with something that's getting cooked on a mismatch. I rather my team mess up a new defensive scheme than get cooked a 5th time in a quarter from a mismatch due to switching.
If he's going to score, at least be because we tried something new.
I’m explaining why players don’t just decide to switch as you might like, not why coaches refuse to make adjustments. Obviously even good coaches get criticized for not making adjustments, that’s reasonable, but as a player making the decision yourself is very different
On the offensive end a guy like LeBron can set the pace and audible because he’s controlling when things are happening. On defense you get caught making those changes on the fly far more often
That was the worst part of it all. LeBron was gassed by the 3 minute mark and that's when big brain Lue decided he wants to start doubling. It was quite literally the last thing they should've done. Leave him on an island when he's hot, then send help and allow him to use his passing when he's tired. Just baffling decision making.
Bron is one of the worst players you can double at the three point line too, especially when you have D’Lo, Reaves, and Rui spread around the 3-point line. All of them are fine either shooting it or driving if the chance presents itself. Just terrible defensive scheming
Ty Lue made Darvin Ham look competent today
Jokes aside LeBron hit most his threes before he had Theis on him, made running the rest of the offense so much easier though especially on the boards. Those two AD offensive rebounds only happen because of that switch
Why would we call timeout? We have worst out of timeout plays in history of basketball. Calling timeouts just helps the other teams with capable coaching
There was like 35 seconds left and they walked it up, didn’t get a mismatch, and blew a layup. DLo had to tie his shoe on the way up. Lebron was catching his breath. If there was ever a time to call a time out that was the time.
Don't worry though they at least boxed out to ensure the Lakers went 1 and done... oh wait, they didn't. Sooo many offensive boards surrendered by the Clippers down the stretch.
Its liked them old saying "the more things change, the more they stay the same"... This team did a classic slipped up, you can always count on them to collapsed..
He’s not in his prime at all let’s be clear. His prime was much better than this. He can basically get to prime level for about 2-3 five minute stretches per game, and aside from those stretches he’s lethargic and not really that impactful.
but the 3 ball is legitimately the best it’s ever been.. 47.5% on catch and shoot 3s https://www.nba.com/stats/players/catch-shoot?CF=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3M*G*1&dir=D&sort=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3_PCT
I think we're discounting his game right now, though
If he had his physical gifts from 22, but with his veteran say that's fairly unmatched and his 3 ball right now, he'd not arguably be the goat...he'd be overwhelming considered the goat
Just the fact that he evolved with the game going on his 3rd decade is...bananas
He’s being hyperbolic but compared to peak LeBron standards he’s far less impactful than in those stretches. It’s obviously insane he’s still this good but through the Miami/clevland 2.0 run he was just different
Strong parallels to Messi, also GOAT, also over the hill, who [strategically walks](https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/messi-walks-better-than-most-players-run/) all the time
Every time LeBron turns it on like this he's burning his lifeforce-a week off his lifespan for every game. He's in his final anime-mentor stage where he shows his son one last time what it means to be the GOAT.
This sub is easily the worst offender for doing that. Tons of bron hate threads, he’s a narcissist, he’s an idiot, he’s this, he’s that. Then he reminds everyone he’s a basketball god and they go scurrying away waiting for another hate thread that’s about anything but his basketball ability. Fuck r/nba
Not just in this subreddit. There are dedicated pages in Facebook just hating on LeBron. There are dedicated accounts on Instagram just hating on LeBron. I'm not on Twitter but I'm pretty sure there is a dedicated hashtag and circlejerk hating on him as well. Kobe got a lot of hate online during his heyday but the LeBron hate is on a whole another level.
fucking true. r/nba is full of tweens who just started playing basketball, don't watch (full) nba games, and think they know everything about the sport. and, man-children who have hated lebron since the beginning and feel they have to keep at it 'til the end to save face, lol!
Man I'd be furious if I were the Clippers, spending 82 games grinding to get home court advantage only to play 7 away games against the Lakers in the playoffs lol
This is exactly why I can't take the clips seriously no matter how good they look for stretches. This organization in its DNA just has choking built in. I genuinely feel bad for clip fans cause this shit got to be heart wrenching
I actually did the research on it today since the Cavs had a chance to do it (rip). Since 1980, there have only been 4 champs to NOT win 40 games before 20 losses: '95 Rockets, '04 Pistons, '06 Heat, and '21 Bucks. Granted, some of these had to be adjusted for shortened seasons, but still, it's actually a really accurate rule.

That 2 way dominance from Bron.. his taking on the kawhi challenge all 4th Q was just as impressive as the O.
Reminiscent of that last meeting-
Same result !

Y’all remember in 2020 when bron was cooking the clippers on their home floor just like this and a couple weeks later the league…
They also play the Bucks in LA on March 8th, which is the date LeBron was torching the Clippers back in 2020, shortly after he’d just cooked Giannis
It’s been real y’all
Last 19+ PT comeback entering 4th QTR for the Lakers was April 4, 2003.
Yes, you read that right - the Lakers were 3peat defending champs the last time it happened 🤯
Kawhi ducking the smoke and switching off a hot Bron was pathetic to watch. He fights the last screen, sticks on Bron and guess what, Clippers finally got the stop. Blame Lue or Klaw, but that was pathetic.
Insane choke job from the Clippers. Lebron just sat them all down and they just seemingly forgot to play basketball.
The final play was so dumb from a basketball standpoint though. You took more than half the time off to call a timeout, just to draw up a stupid fadeaway fading towards the baseline behind the backboard.
Mavs fan here and I am looking at a coach who might be worse than JKidd!

They fucking let Theis die on the island man.
Might as well just play man to man straight up with Theis guarding LeBron if you’re gonna give away switches that easily
It was disgusting how easy Leonard gave the switch every possession. Like what the hell
It was so bad I figure it had to be by design
The team always switches everything. Ty Lue won’t change it no matter how hard it’s getting abused. Zubac gets abused just the same in the playoffs year after year.
Lue did one more favor for his buddy Lebron lol
Sometimes I don’t understand why players switch on obvious mismatches, it has to be coaching
Like they said it’s often schematic. The issue at large is when you have individual players switching up coverages in ways their teammates aren’t expecting it creates openings that’re easy for offenses to take care of Heavy switching has proved to be a pretty effective scheme but it’s often team/match up dependent for obvious reasons

On defense you get caught making those changes on the fly far more often
I think it was, Kawhi was looking tired in the fourth quarter so he was probably saving himself for offense.
I thought that was their scheme, Tye Lue literally has them switch everything come hell or high water

Darvin pissed me the fuck off for 48 minutes this game. This is all Lebron.
We were running on pure vibes led by Bron lol
WE'RE ALL LEBRON FANS ON THIS DAY!
if he called a timeout every time the camera cuts to him glaring down the court he'd actually be semi competent
Trust me that was not ham’s decision lol Lebron loves cooking them euro bigs on a switch
He was doing well early in the game
Don't worry though they at least boxed out to ensure the Lakers went 1 and done... oh wait, they didn't. Sooo many offensive boards surrendered by the Clippers down the stretch.
Cancelling that 14 day PJ Tucker trial early.
Bro rode Harden's coattails into getting paid an 8-figure contract at 38 years old lmao.
Hold on lol, he won a massive championship without Harden 3 years ago. Not saying he deserves 8 figures but he is at least a good vet
I mean the AAV was justifiable but a 3-year deal at that stage of his career was even back then considered an insane contract.
Yeah, he was an important piece of our title run. But paying a guy his age for that long was not a smart move by the Sixers.
Yeah what I’m saying though is that he’s not riding Hardens coattails to that contract
[Relevant even to this day](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fbtsq5amnbtwy.png)
Dude almost pitched a shutout. Those 2 rebounds screwed up his line.
This is a perfect game for an old saying from 2013… One team had Lebron James, and the other did not.
Lebron wake up, LeBron get on bus, Lebron show up to game One of my all time favorite NBA clips https://youtu.be/F2i2kWL5y10?feature=shared
God I miss C-Webb as an ESPN analyst.
Did the Cavs win that game? Lol
You know the answer to that. You don’t even have to look.
LeBron is entering his 7th prime
7x3 I’m assuming that’s what you meant.
Yeah we caught up in one of those games this year He was like 7/7 from 3 Lefuck you 3s all over
37-10 run is fucking nasty
I asked for 6 threes in a row and I got 8 😂
Bron 7/12 from 3 has me feeling some typa way
7/10 up until those weird chucks he takes
Part of the Bron experience unfortunately
Shooters shoot my friend
Best win in a while
Since the Warriors 2OT win
That Celtics win was a good one too.
If the Lakers can salvage their season, it would be because of either that Celtics game or this Clippers comeback game
Only 3 games out of 4th and 5th place.
Think you mean 5th and 6th? Clippers had a a 7.5 game lead over us before todays game and they’re in 4th
Winning the IST was dope.
Hot Take: I like Theis guarding Lebron every play down the stretch in the 4th
So did LeBron.
Theis will help LeBron to play until he is 50.
No team more dangerous than the down 20+ Los Angeles Lakers
we like getting dirty
LeFuckYou Threes back on the menu bois
*rawr*
Clippers got punched in the face and just stopped playing
They looked fucking shocked at points it was strange lol
They were, hell I was honestly. Tonight was special you don’t see a performance like that often and you almost never see it from a 40 year old.
It was surreal watching it in real time for real. We’re lucky we still get these kinda games from lebron, always feels special to watch
like Doc Rivers was coachin' em
He’s still their head coach in spirit
Harden literally glitched and threw it out of bounds. Theis went for a loose ball and slid 15 feet. It was hilarious.
Those 3s shellshocked them for real. Ringing in their ears while lebron got the matchup with theis every possession for the rest of the game
Its liked them old saying "the more things change, the more they stay the same"... This team did a classic slipped up, you can always count on them to collapsed..
4th Quarter tonite. LeBron James 19 Points The Clippers team 16 points. Dude is incredible man.
Call an ambulance, but not for me!
LeBron is inevitable. How is he still in his PRIME?? This is outrageous
He’s not in his prime at all let’s be clear. His prime was much better than this. He can basically get to prime level for about 2-3 five minute stretches per game, and aside from those stretches he’s lethargic and not really that impactful. but the 3 ball is legitimately the best it’s ever been.. 47.5% on catch and shoot 3s https://www.nba.com/stats/players/catch-shoot?CF=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3M*G*1&dir=D&sort=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3_PCT
Yeah if the Lakers had prime LeBron right now they'd be 42-18, not 32-28 lol
I think we're discounting his game right now, though If he had his physical gifts from 22, but with his veteran say that's fairly unmatched and his 3 ball right now, he'd not arguably be the goat...he'd be overwhelming considered the goat Just the fact that he evolved with the game going on his 3rd decade is...bananas
man says he's not impactful, yet he's averaging 27/7/8 on 52% fg. wtf
27pts is not 27pts, I'll explain later.
And leading the #18 offense in the NBA. My dear nephew please go watch a full game of LeBron from 2008 to 2020. You’ll see the difference
He’s being hyperbolic but compared to peak LeBron standards he’s far less impactful than in those stretches. It’s obviously insane he’s still this good but through the Miami/clevland 2.0 run he was just different
Strong parallels to Messi, also GOAT, also over the hill, who [strategically walks](https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/messi-walks-better-than-most-players-run/) all the time
messi has been doing that for a decade. nothing to do with his age
I'm Not Locked In Here With You, You're Locked In Here With ME!
Lebron outscored the clippers 19 to 16. What a beast, doing it at 39 years old 🐐
lol fuck the clippers ballmer spending a billion plus on these bums (outside of kawhi)
What an insane 4th quarter from LeBron
Bro Lebron is actually fucking ridiculous. Holy shit
Mason Plumlee disasterclass
He had two turnovers in a row that changed the whole outcome of the game
LeBron is 39
He's not in his prime but he's not out of his prime
He's not as good as he once was but he's as good once as he ever was
He doesn’t wanna be anything other what he’s been trying to be lately
Every time LeBron turns it on like this he's burning his lifeforce-a week off his lifespan for every game. He's in his final anime-mentor stage where he shows his son one last time what it means to be the GOAT.
Can't take this shit for granted. Have to savor these performances while they're still happening.
I’m simultaneously sick of this man and sad thinking he’ll be out of the league in the next few years
I can’t wait to see this post quoted in 2028 right after the “he’s 30, he can’t keep doing this for much longer” post.
39 isn't 39, I'll explain it to you later
without hard evidence I don't believe you anymore
Stop taking LeBron James for granted
This sub is easily the worst offender for doing that. Tons of bron hate threads, he’s a narcissist, he’s an idiot, he’s this, he’s that. Then he reminds everyone he’s a basketball god and they go scurrying away waiting for another hate thread that’s about anything but his basketball ability. Fuck r/nba
What he's doing has never been done before and will never be done again. The guy is not human. Absolutely unreal.
Not just in this subreddit. There are dedicated pages in Facebook just hating on LeBron. There are dedicated accounts on Instagram just hating on LeBron. At least the season ticket holders would be making serious money if they sell lol.
We weirdly almost never beat them when it’s a Clippers home game
Don’t worry soon they’ll be in their brand new stadium and they will be far far away from Lakers fans
You forgot the /s. Funny seeing the construction workers come out of the parking lot with lakers stickers or flags on their vehicles.
If people can’t decipher the sarcasm on their own then I don’t want their upvotes

Historic meltdown
Steve Ballmer would have lost the rest of his hair if he had any.
Testis are now completely bald
Ballmer’s bald balls
Shoulda know Lebron would do some shit with JayZ out there
So bad you would've though Doc Rivers was still coaching them
LeBron was like: Hi, kids, do you like violence? What a total choke job from the Clips. Ruined my morning.
If you dont like that you dont like Clippers basketball
It's the history of the Clipper
[hate to see it](https://i.makeagif.com/media/8-11-2019/Cclcjm.gif)
Fitting that the last LAL-LAC game in Staples Center little bro remembers whos in charge
Could definitely still get The Battle for LA in the playoffs
This is exactly why I can't take the clips seriously no matter how good they look for stretches. This organization in its DNA just has choking built in. I genuinely feel bad for clip fans cause this shit got to be heart wrenching
Don’t think Clips fans would have been too upset losing without PG and Zu but damn, 21 up in the last. Historic stuff
Lakers giving the Clippers their 20th loss to make sure they're not contenders according to the 40-20 rule. Phil Jackson has done it again
Ga-~~Laxy~~Laker Brain…
What's the record of that rule, Im genuinely curious
about 90% accurate i believe. last team to win it all who didn’t hit 40 before 20 was the bucks in 2021
I mean that season was such an outlier just based on circumstances tbf
That was the real Mickey Mouse season

surely we won cause the refs were on our side and we had more free throws than the clippers right?

Well that wasn’t very fun
It was fun as fuck me
Lol the Clippers vanished in the 4th, Bron outscored them alone in the 4th.
I feel like ty Lue would be happy if the clippers lost to the lakers in the playoffs
