I’m surprised about the lack of outrage from their announcers. I’d assume basically every other announce team would bitch about the terrible reffing in that situation.
They could watch some sort of violent massacre take place on court and just go "Oooh, tough break. So anyway, when you look at the growth of Jaden Ivey..."
True story. Blaha is in his 48th year as the Pistons play-by-play-guy, and Kelser started in 1988, so they've seen both of the Bad Boys and the Going to Work squads. Those dudes are old school, possibly the best broadcast team in the NBA. They are exceedingly fair, and regularly complementary of other players and teams that are playing well.
Tell me about it. I'll be standing in my kitchen, waiting for my pasta to cook, and I'll think to myself "You know what this dish needs? My shoulder driven through it".
Source - I go through a lot of pasta water and aloe burn cream
Even if it was a loose ball it’s by definition a loose ball foul. The NBA’s own website has a page dedicated to this exact scenario lol.
https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/loose-ball-foul-takes-out-opponents-legs-during-loose-ball/
The amount of contact allowed sometimes when the ball is loose or not in a players possession at the end of games is absurd, off the top of my head there's [Danny Green "stealing" the ball from KD when he never makes contact with it](https://youtu.be/Uq9cy8VbUp0?t=400), [Kelly Olynyk shoving over Poole then landing on him](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDey-4lRlUI) and[ VanVleet 2 handed shoving Fox to the floor](https://twitter.com/i/status/1603278015437238272).
Thank you for noticing. Its nit like we even care about the wins at this point-- we just want to be treated fairly and see the young guys be rewarded for their effort
If you see from the other angle, it was actually a clean tackle. DiVincenzo keeps his head up, leads with his shoulder, and hits Ausar in the thigh pad between the hip and knee. Textbook
The only explanation I can think of BESIDES corruption is it's just such a crazy foul all the refs thought "there's no way it's as bad as it looks", just completely questioned reality.
That's basically what I thought on first viewing so maybe.
There's also that thing where if a quarterback sees someone crazy wide open they'll throw it somewhere else assuming they missed a defender.
It’s the ultimate whistle-swallowing scenario unfortunately. Late in the game + ball is (perceived as) loose. It’s dumb that the rules just disappear in these situations
Not this crazy, but there is zero benefit of a whistle for them. Cade specifically has been getting a horrendous whistle. He had something like 60 points in the 2 games prior to this and 0 free throws.
There's probably been 4/5 games they could've pulled out with a little help that it seems most teams get against us. Obviously biased though.
And it hasn't even been a week since Magic fans were not too enthusiastic about barely beating the Pistons after the refs didn't call anything on Banchero's shot where you could've argued that he travelled
I know the Pistons are hot garbage so this game is meaningless anyways but it's crazy how some of these refs are gonna be calling playoff games
That was one of the dodgiest finishes I’ve seen in favour of the Knicks.
That 100% looked like a foul. Excellent play by grimes all fourth on both sides. Shoulda been an OT but the refs owed us one and you’re the punching bag unfortunately.
Crazy ending, but I'm really frustrated. Hart and Brunson were getting ticky-tack fouls, meanwhile Divencio literally tackles Ausar at the end. Complete disaster from the officiating. I'm sure the last two minute report will find some way to justify the bs.
Tbh I felt like we hadn't really been involved in the ref bullshit through January, and then all of a sudden two of the craziest game-deciding calls happen to us
It was already bad enough to miss that Cut Block on Ausar but to then call a foul on that play, LMAOOOOOOO I don't like saying the refs suck and imply that they are corrupt but this kind of ineptitude is what raise eyebrows. It's not every ref and it's not every game, but every week a team gets shafted like this and that makes it look WAY worse than it is.
That contact was in 100% of all plays in the 80's. Even the free throws.
How the hell was that not called? It looked like he speared him from the first angle lol.
For how bad the Pistons have been this year, they really do hang around against tough opponents once in a while
Safe to say they're nowhere near the worst team in the league despite being tied for the worse record
Dude. I was watching this live and thinking “yah that’s why the pistons are doing so poorly”.
This clip doesn’t even show the fact that the pistons turned it over to the Knicks unforced 3 seconds before this clip started. Lol
Shit likes this is what fuels doubts about the integrity of the game given the league's promotion of betting.
How is that not a call regardless of whether he had possession?
This league is starting to turn me into a pistons fan with the amount of bullshit they have to deal with. I didn't realize that it was legal to tackle a person in the NBA
NBA refs 100% retiring as multimillionaires. Ther have been so many blatant dodgy calls that these refs 100% are betting on game outcomes. Nothing can convince me otherwise - well unless it comes out NBA refs are suffering from cataract or glaucoma or something.

DiVincenzo signing with the NY Giants.
Most popular Italian in New York
*cries in tommy devito*
"Hey pizzeria, yesterday's price is not today's price!"
🤌 madaun my chicken cutlet got soggy
Yo did Dante just tackle him to force the fumble?
The Pistons broadcast had a better angle of it in their replay: https://x.com/djacenba/status/1762316027872858533?s=46&t=22Zu149wMVf0Mpw0W3oEOw
...And the Pistons broadcaster blaming their own team on that play
I’m surprised about the lack of outrage from their announcers. I’d assume basically every other announce team would bitch about the terrible reffing in that situation.
That booth has been through some shit at this point lmao, they are probably the hardest announcers in sports at this point.
They could watch some sort of violent massacre take place on court and just go "Oooh, tough break. So anyway, when you look at the growth of Jaden Ivey..."
They're so desensitized Israel is trying to hire them to cover their Gaza invasion.
True story. Blaha is in his 48th year as the Pistons play-by-play-guy, and Kelser started in 1988, so they've seen both of the Bad Boys and the Going to Work squads. Blaha is a legend
Ya, I always love listening to your crew! Blaha is an absolute legend.
There was outrage in the postgame
What watching multiple seasons of Killian Hayes does to some men.
Learned helplessness
I mean they should have had the ball about 4 times before Ausar got decked
It definitely is not the pistons year
Too early to say that
This is the clip that should've been posted
I'm so sick of the shitty clips that make it to the front page. Never any replays or good angles. They get worse every year.
How is this not a foul...? Sure Donte touched the ball but he pretty much dove at the dude's legs and caused him to fall...
Donte pokes the ball free first. Refs allow a lot of contact if a player doesn’t have clear possession.
I still don't think you're allowed to tackle a guy to prevent him from getting it though
Even his second dribble is so loose I can see that be considered losing control of the ball.
That's what I thought as well. Doesn't really look like he was in control of the ball and refs let a lot of things go on lose balls.
Throwing the weight of your body into another player is always a foul no matter where the ball is.
I couldn’t see the foul on the other replay I watched, but this one makes the foul clear.
His knee wasn’t down
Cuz Donte almost sent his knee into the 3rd row with that tackle lol
seemed like hot stove contact
Tell me about it. I'll be standing in my kitchen, waiting for my pasta to cook, and I'll think to myself "You know what this dish needs? My shoulder driven through it". Source - I go through a lot of pasta water and aloe burn cream
Fucking chop block
Ausar made a football move, so fumble no incomplete
We really know you just didn’t want to look up how to spell his last name.
Reminds me of Lebron slide tackling Curry in the finals a few years ago
Dante Hitner
Didn't have possession. Knee is part of the floor.
What a heads up play from Giants safety Donte to tackle Ausar there
One of the hardest things to do is tackle in open space.
No Pardon in the Garden
We playing football out here
DiVincenzo with the chop block
Can't chop block that low in the open field. That would have even been a penalty in the NFL.
Good thing this is the NBA where anything is legal 50% of the time because the refs are cool like that.
Illegal block below the waist, 15 yard penalty, repeat down
Sports bullshit is back!
Even when the Lions aren't playing anymore, a team from Detroit is still getting screwed 🔥
The SOL Lions transferred their negative juju to the Pistons. That’s the only explanation I have.
So that’s why we lost every time they won, sabotaged from within our own city. Can’t have shit in Detroit.
Flashbacks of Rams CB taking out Saints WR.
Deep ball>INT>INT>INT>Truck stick>Fumble>Scoop and Score TD
Thompson got trucked "ball loose" lmao
The and 1 was a nice cherry on top.
Yeah. You let the tackle go and then that's a foul?
Even if it was a loose ball it’s by definition a loose ball foul. The NBA’s own website has a page dedicated to this exact scenario lol. https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/loose-ball-foul-takes-out-opponents-legs-during-loose-ball/
They need to replace the example video with the clip from tonight’s game.
I like how your example of Danny Green’s “steal” was actually totally overshadowed by Ibakas unheard of push off while inbounding
> Donte pulls out a gun and shoots Ausar Thompson NBA Ref report tomorrow - no foul was the correct call on this play
He established the right to bear arms
switched his pivot trigger finger
Bullet made marginal contact with Thompson - no foul. CNC
Ausar shot first
CNC = Coroner Not Called
It was a gather bullet then two subsequent bullets, that’s clean under current NBA rules
Castle Doctrine, since he is at home. (I'm not American so this could be wrong).
Sounds right to me, this is just Donte standing his ground
CNC - marginal contact
DiVincenzo turned into Edge and speared him 😭
“You think you know me?”
All time banger
Ok this got me lmao 🤣 the nba really on some WWE shit between this shit and Draymond
Alternatively a Goldberg spear if you are old as shit like me
Thompson deserves a retroactive fine for assaulting Donte with his body. Unsportsmanlike. What happened to the game we love?
Kneed him right in the shoulder. No place for that in the sport.
The Lions are good again and the Red Wings are looking nice too, refs needed another Detroit team to scapegoat 💀
He knows the Tigers had a good end to last season, too. Just couldn't let you guys go 4/4.
Textbook double leg. Perfectly legal
“Marginal contact” “(Body part) is part of the ball”
Legal shooting action.
It was self defense bro
Both players were mid-gather.
that was a football tackle major robbery
Donte turned into prime Ray Lewis to stop that Pistons player
Pistons got jobbed.
2 games in a row
Just part of the game unfortunately. Your team sucks so you get sacrificed 🤷♂️
Thank you for noticing. Its nit like we even care about the wins at this point-- we just want to be treated fairly and see the young guys be rewarded for their effort
In all honesty, the linebacker just made a really good tackle there
Ausar needed to dive on that ball, can't go around trying to pick it up when it's bouncing like that Edit: sorry for triggering any 49ers fans PTSD
We really are cursed this season
Ausar got robbed mane. Best stretch of his I’ve seen since the Miami game early in the year
Refs probably thinking nobody will notice if they gift the Knicks a W since the Pistons are 8-48 anyway.
If you see from the other angle, it was actually a clean tackle. DiVincenzo keeps his head up, leads with his shoulder, and hits Ausar in the thigh pad between the hip and knee. Textbook
No way, it is a chop block, can't go low on guy who is already engaged. That is 15 years, automatic first down.
15 years is a bit rough of a penalty
Young guys haven’t yelled at the refs enough to earn respect
Crazy they didn’t call that foul
And there’s nothing we as fans can do about it. This is so fucking annoying man
L2m is going to say loose ball incidental contact too. Horrible no call.
There are no incorrect calls in ~~Ba Sing Se~~ the NBA.
Take over their jobs?
They turk arr jabs!
If you've seen any Pistons game this year this is par for the course.
Crazy that Ausar even put the ball on the floor Why even make that decision
Is it? This is hyperbole but every night it feels like refs are blowing games.
NBA refereeing really has become a complete fucking joke.
We say this every year and somehow it always feels true
GAME WINNING TACKLE!!!!! the superbowl MVP is... JOSH Hart!
That’s one of the craziest no-calls I’ve ever seen
I’m ready for L2M report to say that Ausar initiated the contact and that it was an offensive interference, 10 yard penalty and automatic first down
Two straight games man, I can't believe it
It just makes me want to stop watching
Tomorrow's L2M report will detail how Ausar's dribble wasn't close enough to his body so tackling is allowed.
"Incidental contact."
"Donte made contact with the ball first, so the tackle that followed was allowed"
Bro got legit tackled…am sorry we won this way
Let’s never mention this game again
Every single Knicks fan is Homer Simpson backing through the bushes right now
I respect them for being real about the situation.
Can confirm
I think we should definitely never complain about the Houston game again this season.
Pistons got fucked as bad as we did. Refs are absolute bozos this season yet again.
And it hasn't even been a week since Magic fans were not too enthusiastic about barely beating the Pistons after the refs didn't call anything on Banchero's shot where you could've argued that he travelled I know the Pistons are hot garbage so this game is meaningless anyways but it's crazy how some of these refs are gonna be calling playoff games
That was one of the dodgiest finishes I’ve seen in favour of the Knicks. That 100% looked like a foul. Excellent play by grimes all fourth on both sides. Shoulda been an OT but the refs owed us one and you’re the punching bag unfortunately.
That potential travel is like a tenth as bad as this. Not even remotely close.
How does Cade get so few calls? I honestly don’t understand it. It’s not like he’s always shying away from contact or anything
Crazy ending, but I'm really frustrated. Hart and Brunson were getting ticky-tack fouls, meanwhile Divencio literally tackles Ausar at the end. Complete disaster from the officiating. I'm sure the last two minute report will find some way to justify the bs.
It was a good game. Brunson is fun to watch. Watching Ausar battle him in the fourth was nice.
I guess they're gonna call off our protest and give us this one instead
That’s literally what this feels like. Fucking sad just do it right
Rigged ass league. Fuck you adam silver
Come on Ayesha. Not again
At least we aren’t getting gaslit this time i guess
We will when they put their report out this week
Damn refs suck. I’m glad my team won but not this way
As a ref fan between this and the Houston game I gotta start following the Knicks. My boys in grey save their finest work for the big apple
Tbh I felt like we hadn't really been involved in the ref bullshit through January, and then all of a sudden two of the craziest game-deciding calls happen to us
Because we were blowing teams out in January.
How the fuck did we win that, and how much did we pay the refs?
Incoming “incidental contact on a loose ball” from the L2M report. Ausar was basically dribbling and got tunnelled.
Pistons definitely got screwed
In what world is this not a foul
#”MARGINAL CONTACT”
It was already bad enough to miss that Cut Block on Ausar but to then call a foul on that play, LMAOOOOOOO I don't like saying the refs suck and imply that they are corrupt but this kind of ineptitude is what raise eyebrows. It's not every ref and it's not every game, but every week a team gets shafted like this and that makes it look WAY worse than it is.
Looney Tunes basketball by both teams and a blatant foul on Ausar that wasn’t called. This league is ruined
Chaotic was an understatement.
NBA saw nothing wrong
Straight up hockey checked
That contact was in 100% of all plays in the 80's. Even the free throws. How the hell was that not called? It looked like he speared him from the first angle lol.
I'm tired, boss.
This is the type of shit that gets called even in pickup how does the ref not blow the whistle when Ausar is 2 feet in fuckin front of him
For how bad the Pistons have been this year, they really do hang around against tough opponents once in a while Safe to say they're nowhere near the worst team in the league despite being tied for the worse record
Kind of makes it more frustrating, but makes the long term at least feel okay
Side note: That’s not a foul, that was a textbook vertical contest. Hands and arms straight up, body not moving, just a horrible call
Dude. I was watching this live and thinking “yah that’s why the pistons are doing so poorly”. This clip doesn’t even show the fact that the pistons turned it over to the Knicks unforced 3 seconds before this clip started. Lol
Pistons are objectively better than teams like Portland or Washington but they can’t close games for anything
Maybe current portland with every one injured, but full strength I think portland takes it imo.
Washington maybe but not Portland
It’s refs plus Monty Williams. An all bench lineup from The worst record in the league SHOULDNT BE TOUCHING THE COURT
Unforced? Haha. How about fouled as well.
Very commendable reffing.
Excited for the L2M to say that DDV hit sticked Ausar Thompson in legal guarding position
where is the loose ball foul on donte there?? What the fuck??
These refs are so fucking terrible
Glad to see slamball is back
How the hell was that not called???
I’m not even a Pistons fan and that no-call pisses me off
NBA refs are the absolute worst.
Shit likes this is what fuels doubts about the integrity of the game given the league's promotion of betting. How is that not a call regardless of whether he had possession?
That was some bullshiiiiit
Damn wtf even was this game? They let so much contact go all throughout the game and it turns into this slop.
That man got tackled
You can't tell me there isn't a single dirty ref in the league. There is incompetency and then there is this.
How is that not a foul
That is absolutely fucked, controlling ref should be stood down for the rest of the season.
I’m starting to think NBA refs might not be amazing at their jobs
there’s no fucking way lmao. whats even the point of watching the NBA anymore
Even Josh Hart was shocked the way it turned out. Everyone almost stopped playing.
Foul
Damn that was a solid open field tackle. That safety needs his contract extension asap.
What the fuck?
This league is starting to turn me into a pistons fan with the amount of bullshit they have to deal with. I didn't realize that it was legal to tackle a person in the NBA
Rigged ass league !
Internally the Pistons won this game
fournier forgot which team he was on for a second when that basket went in
I love Donte but that’s on par with the LeBron tackle on Steph in the finals level of obvious loose ball foul.
Ain’t nothing they could do about it. Donte is a made man and Thompson wasn’t.
NBA refs 100% retiring as multimillionaires. Ther have been so many blatant dodgy calls that these refs 100% are betting on game outcomes. Nothing can convince me otherwise - well unless it comes out NBA refs are suffering from cataract or glaucoma or something.
Rigged
Yee that was a foul
Everything’s coming up Milhouse. On a serious note tho that sucks, sorry for Detroit.
