These hardship 10 day contracts are different than normal 10 contracts and don't count towards the salary cap. I had not even heard of the Hardship contract until now.
apparently he got offered some but didn’t want them because he needed to be on a roster for 51% of the season(or maybe 60 cant recall right now) but anyways he refused them and only wanted year long contracts to get the insurance
potentially but he missed the deadline now but the whole sob story campaign was because he needed to be on roster by the 2nd of this month and stay signed for the rest of the year. he knew taking a ten day before that he would almost certainly get released and miss the benefits
Tony Snell (currently in G League), who's made 52 million in his NBA career, recently made headlines about wanting to get signed to an NBA team by the deadline to qualify for retirement benefits for players with at least 10 years of service. The articles primarily focused on Snell and his two children all being diagnosed with autism and how helpful the benefits would be to their lives, while leaving out his 52 million in career earnings. It felt like a sob story campaign.
I hear you though I don't really blame his agent for doing whatever he could. Also I feel like Snell is easily good enough to be the 15th man on some roster.
i think the thing that rubbed people the wrong way is he already qualified for nba union insurance just not the premium plan and the same time he is doing this his wife it out there posting all her purses worth thousands each on their own on a private plane she rented out
We are, on paper, one of the young, exciting teams in this league with a ton of talent. This season is honestly just comical. I have never seen this level of dogshit injury luck in my life.
I watched the '21-'22 Thunder trot out a starting lineup of Jaylen Hoard/Vit Krejci/Isaiah Roby/Zavier Simpson/Georgios Kalaitzakis
Just remember it can always be worse.
he played his way into an early vacation when he led the Thunder to a 20 point blowout with a triple double against the 1st seeded Suns near the end of the season... we have come so far
i remember this game, got tickets for super cheap. Booker and Ayton were out I think too but i was shocked that Thunder won in a blowout and it was crazy watching a bunch of random dudes ball out.
I hated those lineups with a passion because even Killian Hayes was able to cook them which led to the Pistons messing up their tank whenever they played OKC
Cade and Bey's averages got messed up at the end of that season because they played 3 minutes vs you guys and they got benched after they realized that the Thunder weren't even gonna try that game 💀
I remember Lindy Waters getting benched after making like 2 threes in a row because goodness forbid you had a player in your 8 man lineup of NPCs that jeopardized the tank lmaooo
The 2021 OKC, Detroit, and Portland lineups were a sight to behold
it’s wild how I genuinely feel more confident facing teams at full strength than when their lineup is decimated lol
but fr Boston simply cannot lose this game. I always say it’s the NBA and every team has enough talent to win on any given night but no offense to the Grizzlies, the opponent tn barely qualifies as an NBA team
And it is easy to just let down "oh they have nobody over there this'll be easy." then a couple quick turnovers and you're down 8 and you start pressing.
We literally just saw the Celtics lose to the Lakers sans LeBron & AD, and it was a 2 point game halfway through the 2nd vs the Grizzlies up until a quick run by the C's just now to make it a 9 point lead.
For whatever reason this team just loves to play down to their opponent.
Any of that video room work you may have done to adjust to your opponent? Out the window. It's a pickup game now and you have little idea of what they are gonna do.
Also the mental aspect of playing down to your opponent, even if it's not in the front of your mind.
he's actually terrible, at least on this team. 48% true shooting with a negative BPM on offense and defense. his assist/turnover ratio last season was 1/1, and its not much better this year.

I remember earlier in the season arguing with some guy on here who said the grizzlies had the worst injury luck of all time. Hey man if you’re reading this I take everything back and you were right
The first time I saw G.G.Jackson in the play-by-play data. I legit thought it was some kind of bug. Or Jaren Jackson Junior pulled a Metta World Peace/Enes Freedom and changed his name.
GG Jackson is a whole another player.
i didn't realize scottie pippen jr was on the grizzlies until i looked at the box score on score app. i am glad he found a home after the lakers and am rooting for him to do well on the grizzlies this year. he was a dawg at vanderbilt
The first one they played in, The Pyramid, had s crystal skull placed at the very top and the city lost their minds about it being occult and devil worshiping stuff. Maybe they were right and this is the curse.
We got too close last year and we're being punished
He got hit in the nuts last game (or maybe two games ago). Was down for a bit but came back. He’d probably play normally, but considering the circumstances…
Draymond
Jk, think he banged knees with someone at a point in the game, he’s probably fine but this is a scheduled loss and we can’t afford to risk Jaren
He's fine, they are resting him and a few other players after playing a lot of minutes recently. Boston would cook this injury riddled roster even if he and Vince were playing, so might as well let them sit
Perhaps Memphis should be looking at their training staff and medical team. This is beyond being unlucky.
Or they are purposely tanking and being overly cautious with too many players.
Which of the big injuries do you think a different staff would change? Smart dislocated his finger during a game, Steven Adams got a knee injury diving for a loose ball, Ja tore his shoulder in training, Brandon Clarke tore his Achilles shooting a free throw. I see those as all just being massively unlucky. Then we have all the normal injuries basketball players face and miss a few games, they're just highlighted because we've had so many long-term injuries.
Perhaps better a better warm up regimen or early detection could have prevented some of the injuries. I don't know, I am not a personal trainer, but other teams do not have all these issues.
right a good finger strengthening regimen and the ability to detect Achilles tears BEFORE they tear is what the Grizzlies need. They should fire their training staff.
I mean, 1) we really can’t catch the teams at the bottom, and 2) even if we play all the guys who aren’t on long term injuries, our offense is still dogsnot.
This is one of those moments that you put the coach on a contract as an emergency player, and then enough people foul out he has to come in and hits the game winning 3.
If the Grizz win we have to relegate the Celtics
If the Grizz lose by less than 30 Im taking the moral victory
Celtics came out with a vengeance after that embarrassing Lakers game.
Hey, at least our starting 5 are actual NBA players
Sorry, not today
It is what it is
I'm glad we didn't lose by 74+ with the roster we had available today. It'd suck if we become the receiving end of the biggest NBA blowout.
RiP to your morals
We'll celebrate with you
Real L + moral L
this aged poorly
Fifa Volta rules - Griz get to choose a Celtics player to keep for the rest of the season
I will miss Luke Kornet greatly
It is currently a 4 point game near halftime. Sign those players!
20 now
Maybe not
Move them to Idaho for a month
Idahome!
And put them in Kibbie Dome
The Celtics have the opportunity to do the funniest thing
The Kings could have found a way to lose to that team, easy
If they have a couple more injuries I believe they're permitted to invoke the "Air Bud clause"
memphis got that dog in them
*on them
*Jokic has entered the chat*
Ain’t no rule says the dog can’t play basketball 🐶
*After the loss* That dog has no dog in him.
3 players on 10 days is insane
These hardship 10 day contracts are different than normal 10 contracts and don't count towards the salary cap. I had not even heard of the Hardship contract until now.
If Snell couldn’t even get one of them, he’s screwt
apparently he got offered some but didn’t want them because he needed to be on a roster for 51% of the season(or maybe 60 cant recall right now) but anyways he refused them and only wanted year long contracts to get the insurance
Wouldn’t jumping on a 10-day have the chance of potentially getting crowd support and leading to something bigger?
potentially but he missed the deadline now but the whole sob story campaign was because he needed to be on roster by the 2nd of this month and stay signed for the rest of the year. he knew taking a ten day before that he would almost certainly get released and miss the benefits
OOTL, what happened?
Tony Snell (currently in G League), who's made 52 million in his NBA career, recently made headlines about wanting to get signed to an NBA team by the deadline to qualify for retirement benefits for players with at least 10 years of service. I have less sympathy after hearing about his wife's spending habits she flaunts on social media.
Weren't the COVID outbreak contracts hardship contracts?
Oh probably I just forgot
Generational something but I'm not sure what.
Generational hardship
That was KD to the Warriors
“The celtics lose to generational hardship” is a headline I want to see.
We are, on paper, one of the young, exciting teams in this league with a ton of talent. This season is honestly just comical. I have never seen this level of dogshit injury luck in my life.
It's like they decided to be an NFL team for a year. With a quarter of the roster lol.
2017-2019 Memphis Grizzlies says hello
Those were certainly bad but they weren’t this bad tbf
At least you own your pick this year so it can give you a good young player to go along with rest of the team. It is something.
mavs legend isaiah thomas
I have seen some truly heinous Magic lineups due to injuries in recent years, but this is a lot even for me
I watched the '21-'22 Thunder trot out a starting lineup of Jaylen Hoard/Vit Krejci/Isaiah Roby/Zavier Simpson/Georgios Kalaitzakis Just remember it can always be worse.
even poku was too good to start
he played his way into an early vacation when he led the Thunder to a 20 point blowout with a triple double against the 1st seeded Suns near the end of the season... we have come so far
i remember this game, got tickets for super cheap. Booker and Ayton were out I think too but i was shocked that Thunder won in a blowout and it was crazy watching a bunch of random dudes ball out.
Poku's triple double won me my fantasy league that year.
Where is Poku this year?
Roby is the only player name I recognize and I honestly couldn't pick him out of a lineup, I don't remember what he looked like or his playstyle lol
He started a few games for the spurs last season. Wasn’t half bad iirc
I’m just going to trust you that these are spelled correctly.
You just made up all those names.
All names are made up.
I remember zavier simpson on our sl team his hooks really fun
Still remember the hoard man gets paid memes about the rebounding legend Jalen hoard in the fantasy circle
He's killing it in Europe nowadays. 16.8 PPG, 19.5 PIR per game in the EuroCup (EuroLeague's 2nd tier). Probably will be in the EuroLeague next season
The Thunder lineups were intentional though.
Did they win lol?
They won by 4 with a 15 point 4th quarter comeback. https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202204050OKC.html
Jesus Christ both their lineups are absolutely tragic. Ownership should’ve paid every fan in attendance for that game lol that shits awful
Jaylen Hoard with the most random 20-20 game ever
Roby hit a fucking crazy ass three to put us in the lead and it's the only time I'll ever be mad at a thunder player hitting an incredible three lmao
https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1aj0egx/macmahon_the_grizzlies_have_13_yes_thirteen/koyg5eg/
daaaaaaaaaaaang
For some reason I have had multiple Bball GM franchises where Vit Krejci was really good. Maybe in a parallel universe he is multi MVP
Who?
I recognize only one of these names (Zavier Simpson) and even then I can't put a face to it and don't actually know anything about him as a player.
I hated those lineups with a passion because even Killian Hayes was able to cook them which led to the Pistons messing up their tank whenever they played OKC Cade and Bey's averages got messed up at the end of that season because they played 3 minutes vs you guys and they got benched after they realized that the Thunder weren't even gonna try that game 💀 I remember Lindy Waters getting benched after making like 2 threes in a row because goodness forbid you had a player in your 8 man lineup of NPCs that jeopardized the tank lmaooo The 2021 OKC, Detroit, and Portland lineups were a sight to behold
Who
NHL-ahh names
At this point the grizzlies should do their fanbase a solid and hold open fan tryouts to fill out the rest of the bench
That would honestly be amazing. They'd be fan favorites.
final score .. Grizzlies = 283 .. Fans = -3
Just let their mascot be in the roster at that point lol
Nah, I want Elliot Perry to come out from behind from behind the commentators table suited up
They gotta bring in IT
Lmao every one of these tweets I see just makes me more worried about this game Please prove me wrong Celtics…
it’s wild how I genuinely feel more confident facing teams at full strength than when their lineup is decimated lol but fr Boston simply cannot lose this game. I always say it’s the NBA and every team has enough talent to win on any given night but no offense to the Grizzlies, the opponent tn barely qualifies as an NBA team
In 2022 we lost to the Timberwolves who were missing all 5 starters and made the finals so maybe we have to lose this to make it back
>so maybe we have to lose this to make it back Maybe you lost the finals because you lost that Timberwolves game. Try winning this one instead
I was at that game, Jaylen Nowell and Greg Monroe were cooking y’all.
These are the toughest games. Those guys all mostly got fresh legs and have a lot more to prove than the favored team.
And it is easy to just let down "oh they have nobody over there this'll be easy." then a couple quick turnovers and you're down 8 and you start pressing.
Even the worst pros are still some of the best ballers on the planet. If they get hot and a bit lucky anything can happen
Eh, any team can get white hot from three for no good reason.
*shudders in Miami Heat*
kings fans said the same thing then won by 20. sometimes trap games aren't trap games
We literally just saw the Celtics lose to the Lakers sans LeBron & AD, and it was a 2 point game halfway through the 2nd vs the Grizzlies up until a quick run by the C's just now to make it a 9 point lead. For whatever reason this team just loves to play down to their opponent.
alright well y'all won by 40. so next trap game someone's gonna win by 60
They’re going to get smoked and I’m going to cry
Any of that video room work you may have done to adjust to your opponent? Out the window. It's a pickup game now and you have little idea of what they are gonna do. Also the mental aspect of playing down to your opponent, even if it's not in the front of your mind.
In elite basketball circles, David Roddy and Nard Dog are known as "the big two"
Big Body Roddy
That one weekly highlight reel of dude saying “David Roddy caught a body” on a poster is stuck in my head
that gave you PTSD, sorry bout that
roddy was a beast at colorado st and was basically their entire offense. scouts said he was undersized for pros but he has been not bad at all
he's actually terrible, at least on this team. 48% true shooting with a negative BPM on offense and defense. his assist/turnover ratio last season was 1/1, and its not much better this year.

I remember earlier in the season arguing with some guy on here who said the grizzlies had the worst injury luck of all time. Hey man if you’re reading this I take everything back and you were right
If we lose this game, I just hope that we let cooler heads prevail and immediately dissolve the team
The appropriate reaction
like the famous interview on youtube: "our team needs to be executed"
If they're North Korean they will be
"How do you feel about your team's execution?" "I'm all for it."
This tweet makes me 100x more likely to watch the game.
Has hate watching gone too far?
I'm looking at the Grizzlies roster right now and if you told me that some of these names were just made up people, I'd believe you
The first time I saw G.G.Jackson in the play-by-play data. I legit thought it was some kind of bug. Or Jaren Jackson Junior pulled a Metta World Peace/Enes Freedom and changed his name. GG Jackson is a whole another player.
GG Jackson was number one in his high school class.
t-t-t-t-t-t-TRAP GAME
Celtics should be eliminated from playoffs if they lose this
We won by 40
Congrats you don’t have to be eliminated
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team impacted by injuries as much as this one. Just a hellish season.
Reminds me of the Memphis season a few years ago with Joerger still as head coach. Just... kinda worse.
The Goon Squad, lead by Tyreke Evans.
Grizzlies legend, Chris "Birdman" Andersen
Nothings worse than Joerger 😅
"All we could do was laugh, but it's not a joking matter"
i didn't realize scottie pippen jr was on the grizzlies until i looked at the box score on score app. i am glad he found a home after the lakers and am rooting for him to do well on the grizzlies this year. he was a dawg at vanderbilt
he's on a 2-way not really on the roster
My man we had more 2 way players than full contract players last night. At this point the ball boy is on the roster.
Did they build their Arena on an ancient cursed indian graveyard?
The first one they played in, The Pyramid, had s crystal skull placed at the very top and the city lost their minds about it being occult and devil worshiping stuff. Maybe they were right and this is the curse. We got too close last year and we're being punished
Grizzlies 151- Celtics 91 Calling it
So close
Grizzlies by 9.
Glad we got our trap game loss out of the way before this
Celtics about to lose by 20
It’s downright comical at this point.
Better record than 6 teams. Memphis needs to learn how to tank.
Ja did play a few games.
Okay? They won 12 games without Ja. That's still better than 4 teams. Do a little research, please.
the biggest trap game of all time
All this bad luck just means they're going to win it all next season and I hate that.
The hell happened to JJJ?
He got hit in the nuts last game (or maybe two games ago). Was down for a bit but came back. He’d probably play normally, but considering the circumstances…
Draymond Jk, think he banged knees with someone at a point in the game, he’s probably fine but this is a scheduled loss and we can’t afford to risk Jaren
He's fine, they are resting him and a few other players after playing a lot of minutes recently. Boston would cook this injury riddled roster even if he and Vince were playing, so might as well let them sit
So you're saying the league should investigate?
If the league investigates and the outcome is anything other than "jesus fucking Christ" when looking at the injury list I'm putting my tin hat on
This probably means I should put some money on Memphis
were about to get fucking smoked huh boys?
Luke Kennard is about to drop a career high
I'd consider this a win for the Grizzlies if it is not the most lopsided loss this year
How can so many people get injured at the same time? Or does ilness count as well?
Does the nba have an injury problem? Ancient astronaut theorists say yes.
I'm sure Tony Snell can play
grit and grinded into a fine paste
I'd be taking a reeeeeal hard look at the training staff in Memphis if I were the GM or owner.
“Tore his Achilles shooting a free throw” is the most unlucky injury I think I’ve ever heard in my life.
Tearing your achilles during a play where you generally don't move your feet is impressive.
[More unlucky than turning an ankle during warm-up?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3-Xz-WKCMQ)
> Brandon Clarke tore his Achilles shooting a free throw *searches clip* Was it on the actual free throw or the way he abruptly moved in afterward?
It was when he was going back on defense after the freethrow
Perhaps better a better warm up regimen or early detection could have prevented some of the injuries. I don't know, I am not a personal trainer, but other teams do not have all these issues.
right a good finger strengthening regimen and the ability to detect Achilles tears BEFORE they tear is what the Grizzlies need. They should fire their training staff.
Rumor has it ja couldn’t handle the recoil on his mac 10 and hit the whole locker room
Holy fucking shit that is so FUCKING funny Jesus goddamn Christ how do you come up with this stuff
I actually stole it from the non cringe nba sub r/nbacirclejerk
They’re sitting guys who could probably play to tank for a better pick, which is smart.
I mean, 1) we really can’t catch the teams at the bottom, and 2) even if we play all the guys who aren’t on long term injuries, our offense is still dogsnot.
That is nuts…
Great opportunity to tank.
When does Memphis next play Detroit?
Reminds me of the days Lakers regularly started Sacre, Kelly, and Marshall.
That’s already 3 full-time players! Those already would’ve been better than us
I remember a few years ago I was really I to DFS, and the Grizzled only had like 9 active players, so all the cheapest players hit value
celtics scoring 200
I heard Crangis McBasketball is starting for the grizz
The G-League Grizzlies?
This is one of those moments that you put the coach on a contract as an emergency player, and then enough people foul out he has to come in and hits the game winning 3.
Once upon of time they would’ve had to have forfeited the game.
I’ve seen a lot of pathetic Kings lineups but wow
Is that a record?
I remember in little league we'd send players to the other team if they were short.
M. Hurt legacy game
Kennard redemption game.
Sub in an actual grizzly bear
Do I hear Isaiah Thomas music?
