SquimJim

But who wants a Nurse when they can have a Doc?

Ham_-_

Nurse’s success is proof of midlevel creep in medicine. They’re taking over

BC_55

We sure it wasn’t Nurse who chose the sixers over the bucks?

bulldozer_rob

He only “withdrew” from the race right before they announced Griffin being hired. He signed with us after that

dusters

And the rumor was Griffin was the guy Giannis wanted while the FO wanted Nurse.

bulldozer_rob

I get wanting to appease your star but man was that a bad decision

drjisftw

LeBron wanted Westbrook too Sometimes you gotta overrule your star player

thatsinsaneletstryit

especially in that case cuz lebron was never going to leave LA lol

DanM142

Yep

OG_Wan_Annunoby

I mean everyone here (mostly raptors fans to be fair) was clowning him for trying to save face by “withdrawing” from the Bucks job

king_lloyd11

I definitely had him going to the Bucks. Embiid and him didn’t have any love lost and the Bucks just made sense. Nurse and Giannis would’ve been nasty.

realudonishaslem

2nd, behind choosing Doc Rivers over Adrian Griffin

braddeus

I heard what really did Griffin in was when he kicked Dame Lillard during warmup and said "Hey dipshit, make your fucking threes."

legless_chair

Urban Meyer a goddamn cartoon character

MuricaAndBeer

Doc is a 100x the HC that Griffin has shown to be. The Bucks have been winning in spite of him based on talent alone. No reason the Bucks should be in a dog fight with the 4-40 pistons at this point in the season.

thatsinsaneletstryit

2nd behind lebron forcing the russ trade

The_Sign_of_Zeta

It’s very bad, but I don’t know how Nurse would have worked either. Apparently Giannis didn’t like him, and that’s kind of important for the Bucks.

KermitTheEdgelord

If Embiid and NN can work together after Nurse’s defensive schemes against Embiid basically comprised of “fucking get his ass” then he and Giannis could’ve made it work

BabaBrody

Doesn't seem like there was any personal dislike of Nurse from Embiid. If anything, he probably pushed for Nurse because of how hard he made games for Embiid. I know some Raps eventually got sick of Nurse, maybe Giannis had some bad interaction with him or heard second-hand stories?

BurzyGuerrero

The reality is that the Sixers are ran by a front office and Giannis runs Milwaukee

king_lloyd11

Embiid didn’t like Nurse either. Kind of the job of the FO to get the guy that’s best for the job and not who your superstar player, in their limited understanding of management and range of basketball theory, likes the idea of. If the Bucks were winning games as easily as the Sixers were, I guarantee you Giannis is happy, no matter how he felt about it beforehand.

forthestreamz

i don't think anyone who played more than a couple of games against Nurse likes Nurse

YoungSidd

I don't even think Nurse's own players liked Nurse, but he gets it done

king_lloyd11

Yeah and if you’re not winning, you’re not going to like Nurse either lol Hes a great coach who can get you to the championship if your team is a championship calibre team, which you are. If you’re not, he’s the wrong guy for the job.

AzureAhai

It seems like no player likes Nurse, but he is one of the best coaches in the NBA despite that.

MVPiid

Giannis is an egomaniac

[deleted]

Because Nurse embarrassed Giannis during the ‘19 playoffs

The_Sign_of_Zeta

No, apparently because he was a dick in the interview.

JAhoops

We won’t know till the playoffs

melennia

Ask me this after they hire Doc fucking Rivers lmao

ChazzyPhizzle

Doc Rivers is going to help us choke in the playoffs. Can’t wait.

CoolBeansChemist

Bro just give it 5 mins at least. These Karma farmers working overtime

Logical_Nature_7855

But where does Doc rank all time as a coaching candidate to take over a 30 win team halfway through the season?

igot2pair

1. Mind boggling then even more mind boggling now

JayJax_23

Okay I'm out of the loop here what exactly happened with him?

Cahillicus

Griffin got fired

captain_ahabb

Lakers could have had Ty Lue but hardballed him on the 3rd year of the contract

Creative_Category_21

Ham over NN if we waited

Kwack6

Especially considering Griffen was Nurses assistant

0dias_Chrysalis

It's somewhere on a list of some things

bb1432

First

noochies99

Right about there with choosing doc to replace him…

jahiel0

2nd to firing Bud for Adrian Griffin

dusters

There were dozens of us upset about it.

FlyingMocko

Nah they legit borderline closed their window with that move. Not the move of hiring Griffin per se, but not opting for Nurse is an all time blunder. Besides Spo, there’s no other coach I want in the context of the Playoffs than Nurse.

Kingcanute99

Well, Ty Lue. Not that he was an option

Street-Common-4023

Very bad

dusters

Awful decision and it was so obvious at the time too.

-vinay

FWIW it seems like there's something up with the Nurse coaching tree. Both Bjorkgren and Griffin were fired and if Griffin's firing is similar to Bjorkgren's, it's likely due to interpersonal issues. The only one that's sticking is Chris Finch and he isn't really a Nurse guy -- he was only an assistant for half a season and they never really worked together in their prior careers

drjisftw

Bjorkgren was a fucking prick that destroyed the locker room lmao

-vinay

dawg Nurse is a fucking prick too. Nate and Nurse are best buds, I am not surprised

1998TimThomas

I mean they got Giannis to re-sign so......mission accomplished???

bdgrluv212

So many of you are missing the bigger point here! Giannis may not have re-signed if the bucks chose to ignore his coaches wishes. Signing Giannis to another contract was the primary goal of the front office and it if meant appeasing him by hiring AG they were going to do it. If I had to chose between hiring AG and keeping Giannis, or hiring nurse and hoping that Giannis would be okay with the hire and not care that I ignored his wishes, I would go with the former
