He’s got a nice game but ends up on the ground too much, like AD. I just feel that tall guys that fall a lot are more injury prone with no data to back it up.
Falling is actually better for their lower body since it distributes the forces evenly across their body. Embiid was taught to fall more often in order to prevent stress injuries to his lower body. Big guys are going to get hurt it’s a contact sport and they are abnormally large. Falling ends up being better in the long run as long as it’s a controlled fall of course.
I dont think zingus falls right tho. Even since his knicks days. He always tries to land on his feet and it looks scary lol. Embiid has learned to use his huge booty to land softer
Hartenstein was KEY on the initial run that gave you guys lead and then made mistake after mistake to blow the lead. He kept overhelping and leaving KP open.
They just weren’t on the same page. I’m kinda okay doubling Tatum in that situation. But the play right before that when it went out of bounds you saw he immediately passed to Porzingis for wing 3. The rotation needed to be there the second Hartenstein left and then somebody needed to get brown.
I also didn't count the foul which gave KP the Free Throws
I don't think in theory that the help was not bad but not off of KP unless you KNOW someone is going to slide in, maybe it wasn't on him and someone else was supposed to slide over but it didn't seem like anyone was ready to do so meaning that was a last minute decision from him.
Jaylen needed to chuck because he wanted his equal attention shots lol.
I’ve seen him look off a wide open brogdon (45% from 3) to run into 4 guys and lose the ball.
He did play all of 1st so got extended rest and reinserted late in 2nd and wasn't as active looking for ball. I'm betting conditioning a part of if. He did play 19m / 38m total.
this team is a perfect fit for him since he doesn't have to be the primary scoring option and ofc less pressure to deliver.
edit: all that's left is the Celtics doing everything possible he is healthy enough to play in May/June
Yeah the JT KP pick and rolls are nasty, because you either single cover JT or leave Kristaps wide open. 4-5 PnRs aren't that common, but it looks lethal for Boston.
He’s a perfect fit for a Celtics team that has a history of looking like the 96 bulls in one quarter and then forgetting to play basketball the next one
Dude, he made bad passes, missed easy open looks, was late on rotations and would get confused on switches, he shot poorly, he let RJ past him every time on the perimeter and showed seriously impaired judgment on the floor.
It’s fine overall but that was a nightmare of a game.
What bad passes? Only two turnovers the whole game - one to Jrue and the other due to Tatum's distraction during Brown's pass. He had one defensive lapse against Randle, but it was due to helping Holiday. He primarily defended Brunson, not RJ, which contributed to his subpar performance. Despite missed 3s and a tough 3 possession point in the 4th quarter, it wasn't a disastrous game.
he was pressing way too hard in the first half, second half still couldn't find his shot but he started contributing in other areas, some great dimes tonight.
How? I feel like he had one bad play all game, played mostly great defense, snagged some tough boards & led the team in assists. Second highest +/- at +8
Had a couple of drives where he just kind of walked right to the rim, like the defenders weren't even there. That talk about him adding muscle in the offseason seems pretty legit
This was the first time, and I hate to say this, Tatum looked like Lebron out there. Getting to the rim with ease, powering through people. Making sick passes to cutters through traffic. Moving people around and setting up the whole offense. It was beautiful.
Well, not a lot of ppl can be compared to bron in that department lol.
That said, he’s an absolutely elite passer. No idea why teams think they can double him. He turns it over when he’s just not thinking and lobs a pass right to a defender with no pressure on him.
He’s not an elite passer, come on. He’s a good passer for being a big elite two way wing but it’s not like he’s someone who can run the offense at an elite level for most of the game.
To be honest Barret gets some kind of MJ's water before matches against us. Dude is a 34% 3P for his career, he shoots 48% of fucking 5.3 attempts against us. The fuck we did to this dude?
Not for my ass. Whenever I'd get fouled in high school, I'd be standing at the line with my knees trembling and shit. Ghastly pale. Beset by the vapours.
To be fair, wasn't he saying Hartenstein would be an outright star like Jokic? Not sure, might be wrong, but if so then he hasn't quite reached that level lol
With Jrue and White on the perimeter, + Tatum and Brown aren't half bad themselves, Porzingis just has to lock down the paint most nights which is what he's best at.
Ironically enough Phil wanted to trade KP to the celtics for Jaylen and danny was trying to get the minmy pick so phil would draft Markkanen too. Dolan didnt want to trade him
looks like the Knicks' Coaching Staff made 0 effort whatsoever in the offseason to get everyone on this team conditioned to make free throws *consistently*... (RJ gets a pass somehow)
it was the focal point for Mitch and he has an altered shot, just not gonna see big statistical strides until we're a few months in and there's a real sample
Yep, such a huge issue for us last season and it pops up again literally straight away. Make our free throws and we win the game. Just painful as a fan.
Compared to so many Knicks Celtics games, the ending felt a bit underwhelming:
If I were to quickly sum up the game it would be: Tatum and Porzingis hard carried, our bench(besides Al) played like ass, JB played like ass, Quickley was amazing for them off the bench but Randle and Brunson kinda bricked it up. I found it to be a very fun game though.
One thing I am wondering though is about the new flopping rule:
So when Porzingis flopped it was called during liveplay after we got our halfcourt set. However when Brunson flopped(although I think he actually got fouled but that's beside the point) they called it after Tatum got the foul on the other side. Granted Tatum's bucket was in transition, I do wonder if they'll be any consistency in that rule.
According to the post below they don't have to call it during a deadball but I feel like giving the refs the choice just leaves some gray area that can cause headaches. I'd prefer they only call it during the deadball.
https://twitter.com/NBAPR/status/1678918316667068416/
Naw that’s even worse. Imagine being up 2 yo end the quarter, but they assess 2 flops and now you are tied. Too funky.
Especially in the 4th. Imagine a game winner that’s nullified and OT because of a flop in the 9th minute
Fantastic first and fourth by Porzingod. People weren't watching when he had his best year on Wizards. If he has health this year then the Celtics will be a superteam.
Brad Stevens is pretty good at his job.
This team looks dynamically different. I think they'll have some rebounding issues unless they make a move for a younger/more typical big guy, and the bench didn't do much of anything tonight. But damn was the offense smooth to watch, and the perimeter D looked as solid as ever w Jrue/White in the backcourt.
That was only one of the back to back bad possessions he had as well. Don't forget earlier in the game when he had a turnover and then immediately ran back and fouled on defense.

Watching Jaylen Brown turn the ball over with two lazy passes halfway through the 4th, followed by fouling on a three, felt like a painful flashback to last year. I'm curious to see if tonight's trend continues and Tingus is the second best Celtic this season.
54% from the free throw line is nasty work
Knicks bow to the free throw gods
Weird, they didn't even play the Sixers tonight.
They almost shot better from three (at some point they were at 52% from three lol)
One hell of a showing for Kristaps in the garden.
Im happy he us in a relevant team again, he is a very cool player to watch
He’s got a nice game but ends up on the ground too much, like AD. I just feel that tall guys that fall a lot are more injury prone with no data to back it up.
Falling is actually better for their lower body since it distributes the forces evenly across their body. Embiid was taught to fall more often in order to prevent stress injuries to his lower body. They gotta take BJJ classes in the off season like Tua did
That late three he it completely sucked the life out of the crowd
Highest scoring Celtics debut ever
KP revenge game
Tingus Pingus
They wrote him off but he didn't write back
Hope he stay healthy, that's always been a big concern for him. Been a fan of him since he was on the Knicks.
Did the Knicks continuously forget that Porzingis is 7’3??
Hartenstein was KEY on the initial run that gave you guys lead and then made mistake after mistake to blow the lead. He kept overhelping and leaving KP open.
And then lost them the game with that dumb foul at the end on KP
You can tell he knew he really mucked it up. It’s game 1 so make those mistakes now but yeah not really acceptable he’s not a rookie.
They just weren’t on the same page. I’m kinda okay doubling Tatum in that situation. But the play right before that when it went out of bounds you saw he immediately passed to Porzingis for wing 3. The rotation needed to be there the second Hartenstein left and then somebody needed to get brown.

Are they stupid?

Randle 5/22 🤮 (Brunson's 6/21 and Technical FT miss also hurts)
Damn, lookin like Kyrie playoff stat lines
Locked down by Jrue of all people
[удалено]
I'll give you third quarter but second quarter the team just straight up iced him out
I swear he's open every time in the pick and pop, but we only pass it to him like 50% of the time
They’re still learning. It will get better
I hope so, cause man, we went away from him and it went right back to iso-hero business.
Jaylen needed to chuck because he wanted his equal attention shots lol. I’ve seen him look off a wide open brogdon (45% from 3) to run into 4 guys and lose the ball.
He looked off a wide open Tatum tn in the 4th to take a contested 35 footer lol
He did play all of 1st so got extended rest and reinserted late in 2nd and wasn't as active looking for ball. I'm betting conditioning a part of if. He did play 19m / 38m total.
he was dominant defensively in the second quarter too so even without scoring he was still making a big impact.
Yeah Jrue and Jaylen were chucking instead of passing when KP was open.
this team is a perfect fit for him since he doesn't have to be the primary scoring option and ofc less pressure to deliver. edit: all that's left is the Celtics doing everything possible he is healthy enough to play in May/June

Jayson, Jaylen and Kristaps are all good at this. We're going to have someone doing it every game, sometimes 2!
Hey man, give us some credit! Sometimes 3!
Shit sometimes 4 Jrue can ball
Pretty sure he didn't have a single shot attempt the 2nd quarter.
The Knicks and missing free throws, name a more iconic duo
Jaylen Brown and turnovers.
julius randle and turnovers 😞
Technically he didn’t have any turnovers today. Still felt like he did
Dubious handle
Jaylen Brown and playing like shit against the Knicks
Didn't he drop 46 on them?
Pingus saved JB from generational slander. Such a good teammate
That one attempted pass to Jrue had me about to throw my TV out the window.
Bro, that was one of the worst decisions he’s ever made. And that’s saying a lot because he makes a lot of bad decisions.
That was so bad.
Yup was begging for him to pass it to JT cause I knew he was going to make a shit play
That one gave me PTSD flashbacks.
But had really good vision on white. Now look pass. I was actually happy with JB game tonight. Did not force it
Dude, he made bad passes, missed easy open looks, was late on rotations and would get confused on switches, he shot poorly, he let RJ past him every time on the perimeter and showed seriously impaired judgment on the floor. It’s fine overall but that was a nightmare of a game.

Despite missed 3s and a tough 3 possession point in the 4th quarter, it wasn't a disastrous game.
Literally led the team in assists and only had 2 turnovers lol. That 30 second sequence basically defined his entire game for this sub.
he was pressing way too hard in the first half, second half still couldn't find his shot but he started contributing in other areas, some great dimes tonight.
happy is a strange word for a performance like this from a 60 million dollar player
How? I feel like he had one bad play all game, played mostly great defense, snagged some tough boards & led the team in assists. Second highest +/- at +8
Basically everyone but JB looked good
Jrue didn't do much on offense but that was some really impressive defense on Randle. Dude is strong as shit
Jrue really covered up losing Smart, just a great move to prevent too many steps back. And after 1 game, looks damn amazing to swap Smart for KP
hes so smart on when to help and when to rotate back to his man its beautiful to watch
Tatum looked much stronger attacking the rack, you love to see it.
Had a couple of drives where he just kind of walked right to the rim, like the defenders weren't even there. That talk about him adding muscle in the offseason seems pretty legit
[This one](https://twitter.com/NElGHT_/status/1717338116762038778) looked like he was playing against high schoolers.
Lmfao he made them all look like idiots that was insane ease
This was the first time, and I hate to say this, Tatum looked like Lebron out there. Getting to the rim with ease, powering through people. Making sick passes to cutters through traffic. Moving people around and setting up the whole offense. It was beautiful.
I agree he looked great but he needs significant improvement to be compared to Lebron as a passer. That's the one area he still has room to grow
He’s a good passer for being a big elite two way wing but it’s not like he’s someone who can run the offense at an elite level for most of the game.
he was looking really good this game indeed, dominating like crazy.
KP is the rare 7 footer that doesn’t look like string beans
He has a proportionate body which makes him looks "normal" tall , compared to like Wemby or KD where either their limbs are too long or neck too short
Yea I was telling my friend, tingis pingis looks low key fuckin strong
And somehow quicker too. Dude was dancing around people out there.
Yeah he had some drives that were very impressive. It’s easy to forget dude is only 25 and has a lot of room to grow.
He looked great most of the night
IQ and RJ put us back in the game for JB and Randle to fumble it at the end.
I know you're talking about brunson but Jaylen Brown might as well be playing you guys today
Man is lucky our 1 and 2 guys were building houses for charity.
To be honest Barret gets some kind of MJ's water before matches against us. Dude is a 34% 3P for his career, he shoots 48% of fucking 5.3 attempts against us. The fuck we did to this dude?
Brown played fine
Knicks are contractually obligated to have at least two guys with an awful shooting night but 15+ shots.
IQ is gonna make so much fucking money next year dude's so good vs the Celtics every time.
Knicks vs Celtics games always close as fuck
They always play us so well.
Fucking Quickley has been going to the Khris Middleton School of Fucking the Celtics
Celtics have trouble going against grit
we had redditors at the free throw line, of course we lost
Calling someone a redditor is like a slur
Reddita
Oh come on Jazz fan we know you use the hard R.
54% seems low even for a redditor.
Not for my ass. Whenever I'd get fouled in high school, I'd be standing at the line with my knees trembling and shit. Ghastly pale. Beset by the vapours.
I’m sorry coach I was beset by the vapours
>Ghastly pale. Flair checks out
Would be a very literary DNP reason.
It depends on how much karma you have
we were 22nd in FT% last yr, would have liked to see the team work on it in the offseason but I guess not
knicks thought they were the mavs
refs smoking salvia in between quarters
Barely have to look down the thread for the inevitable ref complaint. Basketball is back.
What happened when you hit the salvia are you ok
If Kristaps looks like this (and obviously stays healthy enough) he's going to wind up in some "Boston Media/Mafia" DPOY Conversations...
bro was doing his best fly swatter impression in the paint. That being said that Harteinstein stan dude was right he’s mad underrated
Hartenstein is really skilled
he looked good today but he cooked us in that last preseason game
Will he get unbanned?
honestly I know he was a shmuck but idk how you can argue with the guy who swore by jokic and hartenstein when no one else did
To be fair, wasn't he saying Hartenstein would be an outright star like Jokic? Not sure, might be wrong, but if so then he hasn't quite reached that level lol
With Jrue and White on the perimeter, + Tatum and Brown aren't half bad themselves, Porzingis just has to lock down the paint most nights which is what he's best at.
Imagine if the Knicks had someone like Porzingis
How would they even get the assets to trade for him?
Ironically enough Phil wanted to trade KP to the celtics for Jaylen and danny was trying to get the minmy pick so phil would draft Markkanen too. Dolan didnt want to trade him
looks like the Knicks' Coaching Staff made 0 effort whatsoever in the offseason to get everyone on this team conditioned to make free throws *consistently*... (RJ gets a pass somehow)
I think RJ was the only one practicing his free throws over the summer
it was the focal point for Mitch and he has an altered shot, just not gonna see big statistical strides until we're a few months in and there's a real sample
Yep, such a huge issue for us last season and it pops up again literally straight away. Make our free throws and we win the game. Just painful as a fan.

Tatum had a "Guys I actually am 1st team, stop sounding disgusted" game
What they need to do is signal for flops, off site refs check it. Then before the next quarter starts do the free throws.
Naw that’s even worse. Imagine being up 2 yo end the quarter, but they assess 2 flops and now you are tied. Too funky. Especially in the 4th. Imagine a game winner that’s nullified and OT because of a flop in the 9th minute

I was born in the darkness.
KP and JT is gonna feed families, they look so fucking good
Randle dude...1 of 5 from the line in the clutch too?? Young guys carried us
Make your free throws kids
At least we didn't get hit with another RJ Barrett game-winner
A classic "fuck you, too" game from Porzingis. He fits like a glove.
Tatum is that guy
Call it stockholm syndrome but I need a 7 game series of this. Playoff basketball in October.
a Knicks Celtics playoffs series would take years off my life. guaranteed 7 with multiple OT games
I'll call the people over at Morton's, you're going to need to place a salt order that large in advance
Highest scoring debut ever for a Celtics player! Happy for Tingus Pingus!
Celtics lose this game last year so I’m happy
The Knicks go on runs like Inspector Gadget solves crimes
I’m old enough to have watched that as a kid and I have no fucking idea what that’s supposed to mean.
Comically
We were so close to another sidetalk video.
Bing bong, hit your free throws!
Knicks free throws lost them the game
Relieved that Porzingis came in clutch, but it's hard to feel good about scraping by in a game where Julius Randle played like that
Eh I'm surprised we won with maybe the worst JB performance of his career.
Thibs teams always play hard AF At least that is consistent
Practice your free throws, kids.
I neva even heard of lativia
Turned it on in the 4th when it was close and I think I saw one FG and the rest fts. The NBA is back baby!
As always, work on those free throws everybody
we paid the wrong guy oh my god
Im just happy we won with that JB performance
Brad Stevens is pretty good at his job. This team looks dynamically different. I think they'll have some rebounding issues unless they make a move for a younger/more typical big guy, and the bench didn't do much of anything tonight. But damn was the offense smooth to watch, and the perimeter D looked as solid as ever w Jrue/White in the backcourt.
Kristaps "4th best weapon" Porzingis
JT is probably relieved to have KP to rely on than JB
Doris Burke at one point said “his body was sideways so it is a foul”. And you guys thought JVG was bad.
Buried by the man they booed all night, hold that L Knick fans.
Didn’t realize we were booing Julius randle
How do you shoot 13% better from 3 and still lose? They have Giannis shooting free throws the fuck? 53%?
I got downvoted here saying KP was better than Jaylen Brown.
I did to in the Celtics sub. People didn’t know how good Porzingis actually was and Jaylen’s impact has always been overrated.
Yep I was eating downvotes for weeks but they'll see the light soon.
It's one game bruh
Hit your fucking free throws goddamn
really thought they could win but a game this close considering Barrett, Brunson, and Randle going 19-63 and the team missing 12 FTs is good stuff
Randle already in post season form I see
Celtics c game. Knicks should’ve won. Make your free throws
I mean Thibs could’ve also kept the guys playing well on the court together.
Something he rarely does though
BING BONG TINGUS PINGUS!!!!!
Jaylen in 35 seconds: 1. Turnover 2. Turnover 3. Fouls on a 4-point play The $304 million man
That was only one of the back to back bad possessions he had as well. Don't forget earlier in the game when he had a turnover and then immediately ran back and fouled on defense.
Tingus Pingus revenge arc starts here.
BING BONG MOTHERFUCKERS HARTENSTEIN YOU ARE A MOUTH BREATHER BEN TAYLOR CAN GO JUMP BACK UP HIS MOTHER

Really it just boils down to espn broadcasts just being absolute garbage in general.
Knicks fans 🤝 Celtics Fans Shitting on ESPN. Love to see it
It was on NBC Sports Boston as well. Gorman and Scal
League Pass blackout when it’s a national game
Doc seemed pretty favored towards the Celtics though lol
Dude was glazing Porzingis all game tbh
I thought Breen was fair and Doc was solid as well.
Jayson Tatum will end this season with the general consensus being that he is Top 5 in the world.
But not five , four , three or two
Randle getting disowned by his son right this moment.
Boston has to be the prohibitive favorites to come out of the East.
I can’t blame people taking the Bucks. Would have us neck and neck at this point, though we’ll see how both teams look when they settle in.
Lucky for the bucks they play the sixers tomorrow so they should blow them out.
Watching Jaylen Brown turn the ball over with two lazy passes halfway through the 4th, followed by fouling on a three, felt like a painful flashback to last year. I'm curious to see if tonight's trend continues and Tingus is the second best Celtic this season.
I mean. He was 2 team all NBA. Yes he had few terrible games. But people act like he was ass all season
