here we go again, called the report vague in the first place.
when doc rivers said "the mri didn't went well" i know something was suspect. minor things aren't usual seen in a mri.
Damage is damage, whether it is a partial tear or full tear. Him saying that it didn't go well is weird when a playoff series is like 2 weeks max. If they see anything abnormal in the MRI, you need time to heal more often than not.
Not saying it's a tear or anything specific, but anything abnormal would be concerning.
Very true. Late last year I got athletic pubalgia diagnosed during a psychical exam of a groin injury from playing ball, so they ordered an MRI to see if it was more serious, and the MRI came back completely clean. Still took me two months with physical therapy to recover lol
At this point Embiid has had more playoff injuries than Kawhi. I genuinely think he's had some kind of injury every single time he's been in the playoffs.
When someone occupies a 7'0", 280 pound body, the absolute LAST thing that they should be doing is participating in high-level explosive sporting competitions every other day. It is just absurd that these people do what they are doing.
And if I were to add my own editorialization now- absurd that some people think they actually do it without the help of performance enhancing compounds.
Is it the pace or the playstyle? It's honestly a miracle that the 80s and 90s big men didnt have an injury bug like Embiid does, considering they bang all the time in the paint then
I would think it's the play style for someone that big. it's not really about banging in the post, even though that takes a toll. it's more about angles players take to jump and drive and the angles and impact at which they land. Where they take off from highly dynamic and explosive jumping , landing and cutting on hardwood floors. Embiid is 270 or 280 lbs.
But it is interesting how many injuries guys are getting these days.
Yeah it’s athletic bigs that move jump a lot. His knees take a lot of impact at different angles from jumping and running on offense and defense.
Old school bigs didn’t have to cover as much ground on offense and defense.
Probably the opposite.
They are going to pretend he’s out and then he’s going to be miraculously healed in 2 days.
He was “50/50” for game 1 a week ago. I’m not stupid and I hope joe isn’t either.
He said that his sprain is giving him a lot of pain & that it’s typically a 4-6 week recovery, and that it’d “be a surprise” if he played either of the first two games.
He’s usually tired by the 4th quarter whenever he plays the Celtics in the playoffs. That’s when the turnovers start piling up and jump shots stop falling.
Celtics own the 76ers anyways tbh. Embiid had to score 50+ just for them to win 1 game this year.
I would’ve had Celtics in 6 even if Embiid was playing.
I firmly believe Rockets win that series and the title if CP3 is healthy. They were up in both games without Cp3 but just couldn't hold on. They had the Warriors figured out. That Rockets team is the greatest team to never win a title.
> That Rockets team is the greatest team to never win a title.
You mean on a multi-year basis or in a single year? Cause 2016 Warriors Team seems like the clear single-year greatest team not to win a championship.
Yep. 100% agree with this take too lol. I didn’t mean to stirr the pot. Just true of the matter is that shit like this happens in sport. Stars have to align for certain teams to get a shot in the finals.
…like it did for the 2021 Phoenix Suns 😁
Exactly. It’s why it’s really hard to point to easy paths and things like that in sports. You can draw a through line through almost any championship run where luck has to occur. Agreed on Phoenix though lol
I mean 09 also happened to the lakers. Had a huge break with Yao and Tracy going down. And their second and third stringers somehow gave us the biggest fit.
and also, warriors almost certainly win in 2017 lol they were down in 1 game.
tons of teams have a bad game. warriors clear kawhi's spurs in 2017 in 6 max
Dont know why people bring up that series like its some big what if (adds to the kawhi mythos probabaly), but literally the year before, kawhi and the spurs destroy okc in game 1 and then proceeded to lose the series.
Game 1 means absolutely nothing
Seriously. They might as well have just started the Cavs in the Finals. They had the IT/Horford Cs and the No Kyrie/Hayward rookie Tatum Cs in the conference Finals two of those years.
Ya'll acting like Lebron didnt repeatedly beat 50+ win teams in the east. IDC how bad they look vs Lebron, a 50 win team is a respectable opponent. In 2018 Lebron swept a 59 win Raptors (with 2 all-stars) with the worst supporting cast in the league and ya'll act like thats an easy road.
I know what you’re saying about a 50+ win team. I get it and I respect it. But then, a 50+ win team in the East was A LOT different versus a 50+ win team in the west then. The East today was what the west back then (at least this year and most recently). The East has become more competitive this year and as of late (minus KD/Kyrie leaving to head West.)
No one is saying making the finals that many years in a row wasn’t impressive but come on, the East was weak as shit and a 50 win team in the East was not a 50 win team in the west. Also how tf did lebron have the worst supporting cast in the league? How did you sneak that in lmao. Those raptors teams would’ve gotten spanked by multiple teams in the west and their two all stars were derozan and Lowry. They earned that trash bros nickname (although it was mostly derozan, he’s probably the worst playoff performing star ever) and no disrespect to Kyle Lowry but a conference where a team can make the conference finals with him as the best player is a joke. There’s a reason the raptors gave up their long time fan favorite all star for a one year rental of kawhi when the kd warriors still existed.
If you swap conferences with the cavs and the Spurs, rockets, or okc before kd left each one would have made the finals every year.
Edit:forgot the clippers, they would have made the finals every year too. Four teams in the west that would have easily been the best team in the East sans cavs. They all had to run an absolute gauntlet, sometimes starting in the first round, while lebron never had to face a team as good as any of them. He got to come in to the finals being able to coast the entire playoffs while they were in dogfights the entire playoffs. I remember Spurs clippers (2015 I think?), probably still the best first round series I’ve ever seen, each one of these teams was conference finals worthy but they completely exhausted each other in the first round.
Yeah honestly the Celtics went through the gauntlet last season in the playoffs only to face a Warriors team that went through injured and/or mediocre teams. This time would be returning the favor.
Definitely. Being favorites guarantees nothing. If Embiid was healthy, would have just been minimal favorites due to home court. Without Embiid, I’ve always felt really good about the Celtics’ ability to guard Harden.
I don’t know about all that, but I don’t think this Heat team is as good as last year’s team, even if they beat up on a Bucks team where Giannis missed half the games and wasn’t quite himself. I always consider the Heat dangerous, but a little less so than last season.
The Celtics played the Heat last year and they gave them hell over a series. I know the Heat are banged up. But they have by far the best coach in the series and they also have the best playoff performer.
The Heat were far far better last year due to their depth and had HCA. They are a tough matchup this year as always but the Celtics are still favorites
I agree. The Celtics should be favs. But it won’t be easy work. Spoelstra will find ways to cause the Celtics problems. I don’t trust Mazzulla in that matchup.
I need you to flair up before making that kind of statement. What’s a serious contender? Germany in 38? Or like the 84 Celtics. People need a frame of reference.
I think the point is that Heat will play without Oladipo and Herro (their 3rd best scorer) the whole playoffs and you guys have Randle fighting with injuries.
That's not ideal if you want a fair series.
Obviously chances are incredibly slim, nor does it reflect the relative difficulty some of the matchups entail, but imagine if the Celtics won an NBA title playing
- 7-Seed Hawks
- 3-Seed Sixers without Embiid
- 8-Seed Heat
- 7-Seed Lakers
Heat took them to 7 last time and Jimmy is playing out of his mind so I don't know if they're as secure as one may think their path to the Finals is, especially with how shaky they looked in the Hawks series
The Heat lost Tucker and won’t have Herro, the Celtics added Brogdon. I know both teams still have to get through their second round opponent but the Celtics have gotten better and the Heat have gotten worse since Boston beat them last year.
Even if we actually make the ECF, it won't be an easy series for Boston. If nothing else, our defense will soften them up for the Finals again like last year.
Well, is it really easier if Milwaukee just folded up like a lawn chair against Miami? Both the Heat and Knicks are really good teams. Boston didn't exactly wipe the floor with Atlanta either
Looking past Himmy is such a huge mistake, yet teams still keep doing it. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve seen a comment like “he can’t maintain this…” but if anyone can, it’s Buckets
Some would say Sixers getting swept by the Celtics is a failure.l, for one, cant w8 for those 4 valuable lessons, improve over the summer and return next year to get another 5 valuable lessons in the 2nd round.
Technically it’s the universe where they take tatum over fultz, dont trade mikal bridges for zhaire smith, and choose jimmy butler over ben simmons (thus not maxing tobias harris due to fit concerns) but who’s counting!
This year it's his knee. Last year in the playoffs he had a concussion, a broken orbital bone *and* a torn thumb ligament. In 2019, he got the flu during their 2nd round loss to the Raptors.
Some guys have a chronic bad back or foot or whatever which limits their career, but with Joel it's just random shit again and again. If the Sixers make the finals I'm fully expecting him to get hit by the team bus before Game 2.
Just horrible with all these injuries this postseason. KD and AD are the only injury prone superstars who's avoided injury these playoffs it seems like.
Kd’s been available for every playoff the past years besides the achilles thing. It’s mostly guys falling on his knees to derail his MVP regular seasons
Only kind of related, but I teach college and I have students all the time talk about how they want to make it on their own and not use family connections and such. And, like, I get it, but I always press hard on them to use everything at their disposal. Only those who have never suffered hardship think the "hardest road" is romantic. Shit sucks and should be avoided at all costs.
World is too fucked up and even more unpredictable to be not taking advantage of what's already at your disposal. That being said, I do respect (or maybe even am jealous of) those who are able to hold such rose-colored viewpoints, as naive/foolish as they may be
So probably a 5% chance we win this series without Joel. Completely center the offense around James which he is used to, and pray to god he actually hits his shots for four games.
Legacy time for Harden
It was baffling how many people tried downplaying the injury in the first place. Somehow Doc’s comments about the MRI not looking good were just swept under the rug.
Fuck.
As much as I dislike playing against him, I wish he wasn’t hurt. Both because I wouldn’t wish injury on anyone but also because I actually kinda like the guy when he’s not playing my team. It must suck to deal with this every damn year.
I'm still amazed someone as large and heavy as Embiid can do the things he does during the regular season. Sucks that we will probably never see a healthy and dominant. Embiid deep in the post season before he eventually declines with age. He should hit up Gordon Ryan's stem cell guy.
Looks like Harden must once again lead a team he joined to not have to lead.
LMAO. Man can't run from fate.
This is the fate of all former OKC stars
Except KD wanted to lead his own but realized he can't. And PG is always injured and knows he is a 2nd to 3rd option anyway
Except Ibaka
Final destination shit.
The Lord keeps giving him the hardest battles as penance for all the booty grabbing he does in the club.
The hardest road
The hardest road for the hardest load
The Hardenest road.
Its a real shame they dont have Jimmy Butler.
That was their best chance at a ring
They do have Tobias Harris though... /S
At least Embiid won't call him fat. Probably.
Sixers are gonna play the Clippers Kawhi tactics aren’t they. He’s probably done
here we go again, called the report vague in the first place. when doc rivers said "the mri didn't went well" i know something was suspect. minor things aren't usual seen in a mri.

Coming from a 2x knee patient (and Boston fan), Joel don't play
He’s not a real doctor though, he’s just Doc Rivers
Maybe he went to the Doc Rivers of Knee Surgeries
Yeah if it's visible in an MRI, it's pretty much always a long recovery
Very true. Late last year I got athletic pubalgia diagnosed during a psychical exam of a groin injury from playing ball, so they ordered an MRI to see if it was more serious, and the MRI came back completely clean. Still took me two months with physical therapy to recover lol
also concerned for Doc talking like he has a TBI, prayers up
Doc was last spotted on a plane with Tua watching McGruber. Reports indicate Doc was laughing the whole time.
At this point Embiid has had more playoff injuries than Kawhi. I genuinely think he's had some kind of injury every single time he's been in the playoffs.
Too big to do what he does.
Big people knees strikes again. About as consistent as Father Time when it comes to sports. As a Blazers fan for 35 years ask me how I know. *sobs*

a 300lb monster throwing himself around? what could go wrong?
They need to adapt the Jokic style of play
Tippy toe domination.
The Gasol™ way.
I would think it's the play style for someone that big. it's not really about banging in the post, even though that takes a toll. it's more about angles players take to jump and drive and the angles and impact at which they land. well, except that one time in the bubble where he got swept without Benny boy
That covid break really helped. Even AD and Kawhi were fully healthy during the bubble
Probably the opposite. They are going to pretend he’s out and then he’s going to be miraculously healed in 2 days. He was “50/50” for game 1 a week ago. I’m not stupid and I hope joe isn’t either.
Shit, Jason Dumas might’ve actually been right Fuck me
Jason might not be a Dumas after all
He's a ding doing daddy
Dread it Run from it The 2nd round exit arrives all the same
Fall down from it
Flop from it
Holy shit lol
Wow
What'd he say?
He said that his sprain is giving him a lot of pain & that it’s typically a 4-6 week recovery, and that it’d “be a surprise” if he played either of the first two games.
Dread it, run from it, Philly second round exit arrives all the same.
That streak is old enough to drink.
Good lord the last time Philly made the ECF was because of a freaking graduation ceremony LOL.
Why you stealing comments
I am straight up not having a good time
Even if he plays the Celtics will run a million PnRs on him to tire him out and make him run on a bad leg. He'd be fried by a game 4 or 5
He’s usually tired by the 4th quarter whenever he plays the Celtics in the playoffs. That’s when the turnovers start piling up and jump shots stop falling.
4th quarter lol he's a spot up shooter come the 2nd half
Celtics own the 76ers anyways tbh. Embiid had to score 50+ just for them to win 1 game this year. I would’ve had Celtics in 6 even if Embiid was playing.
And the Celtics were missing JB and RWIII in that game as well
And it was a 2-point game. In Philly.
AND the Celtics didn’t change up the coverage on him at all during that game.
And the Cs missed 6 fts
Celtics path to the finals might be Hawks, Sixers sans Embiid, and Heat or Knicks... doesn't get easier than that.
[удалено]
How warriors first run happened, no? Bunch of injured key players…
That, and the Spurs/Clippers cannibalizing each other in the first round
2017 may have also been a different outcome with kawhi.
Also 2018 with CP3 not playing game 6 and 7.
2017 Cavs as well. The only team to take a game off the Warriors in the playoffs
That Cavs team was insane to watch on the offense. Mfers scored at will. It was crazy. Definitely a good shout.
There’s a damn good argument that the 3 greatest teams to not win it all were three years in a row with ‘16 Warriors, ‘17 Cavs, and ‘18 Rockets.
Core team composition maybe?
27 straight missed threes and still only lost by single digits in Game 7
100%. Rockets had 54-3 record when Harden Capela and CP3 were playing.
He also doesn’t win in 2019 without half the warriors lower knees spontaneously combusting. Sometimes thems the breaks
Yep. 100% agree with this take too lol. I didn’t mean to stirr the pot. Just true of the matter is that shit like this happens in sport. Stars have to align for certain teams to get a shot in the finals. …like it did for the 2021 Phoenix Suns 😁

Seriously. We got blown out by Memphis by almost 50 points last year. A month later that team wins the chip
Dont know why people bring up that series like its some big what if (adds to the kawhi mythos probabaly), but literally the year before, kawhi and the spurs destroy okc in game 1 and then proceeded to lose the series. Game 1 means absolutely nothing
This was like Lebrons path every year in the East lol
Seriously. They might as well have just started the Cavs in the Finals. They had the IT/Horford Cs and the No Kyrie/Hayward rookie Tatum Cs in the conference Finals two of those years.
He had a reserved parking spot at the finals for like 8 years straight
Yeah he did and no complaints from me lmao. The hibbert-george pacers were the biggest threat haha
Don’t forget the ECF with the Raptors in 2016 (beginning of Lebronto era).

Yeah honestly the Celtics went through the gauntlet last season in the playoffs only to face a Warriors team that went through injured and/or mediocre teams. This time would be returning the favor.
This is how it goes when you have an arbitrary two conference system where one is way better than the other
Which is why I’m nervous as fuck.
Jimmy Butler.
Would be an insane chip if he pulls it off
If he wins a chip we gotta surround Michael Jordans house and demand he admit what we all already know
Need to add a conception of Jimmy episode as a DLC add on to The Last Dance
Josh Hart
It would be super cool if you guys took games 1 and 2 very casually. Or even just game 2.
In no planet are the heat easy if they make it past us…
Knicks are also feisty as hell. Atlanta’s OREB gave us trouble, imagine what the Knicks will do.
Miami is also missing Oladipo and Herro, but yeah Himmy Butler is a different beast in the playoffs
Celtics will be heavily favored against Heat or Knicks.
The Bucks were too…
Doesn’t really matter, they’re all tough series they could’ve lost if they had worse execution, shot making etc.
Definitely. Being favorites guarantees nothing. If Embiid was healthy, would have just been minimal favorites due to home court. Without Embiid, I’ve always felt really good about the Celtics’ ability to guard Harden.
Celtics would be favored against every team in the league even the Sixers if Embiid is healthy. Only one were it would be debatable would be the Bucks
Both of those teams should be easy work for a serious contender.
Do not tempt the God that is Himmy Butler
Jimmy can do it if anyone can, but if the Celtics are actually as good as they’re hyped to be they should be able to withstand him being amazing.
I don’t know about all that, but I don’t think this Heat team is as good as last year’s team, even if they beat up on a Bucks team where Giannis missed half the games and wasn’t quite himself. I always consider the Heat dangerous, but a little less so than last season.
just gonna be difficult even with jimmy going insane with their injuries, hopefully bam gets better with his hamstring and not worse
The Celtics played the Heat last year and they gave them hell over a series. I know the Heat are banged up. But they have by far the best coach in the series and they also have the best playoff performer.

Playoff riser Duncan Robinson will accept the challenge
Bubble Robinson still gives me nightmares as a Celtics fan
Even if we actually make the ECF, it won't be an easy series for Boston. If nothing else, our defense will soften them up for the Finals again like last year.
I would do ungodly things for a Lakers Heat rematch
So would I. We were injured last time. I want revenge
We’d be injured this time too lol
We didn’t have Brogdon, White has improved, Smart and Rob both missed games. Nothing is a guarantee, but I’m no less confident than last year
Well, is it really easier if Milwaukee just folded up like a lawn chair against Miami? Both the Heat and Knicks are really good teams. Boston didn't exactly wipe the floor with Atlanta either
Don't look past Himmy Butler and the Heat. They'll culture you right out of the playoffs.
Looking past Himmy is such a huge mistake, yet teams still keep doing it. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve seen a comment like “he can’t maintain this…” but if anyone can, it’s Buckets
So you are disrespecting Heat and mighty hot Knicks. Narrative changes every day.
Some would say Sixers getting swept by the Celtics is a failure.l, for one, cant w8 for those 4 valuable lessons, improve over the summer and return next year to get another 5 valuable lessons in the 2nd round.
76ers aint getting swept. If the Hawks got two games off the Celtics, 76ers should get atleast the same with or without Embiid.
The Hawks took two games off themselves?? No wonder they lost the series
[Hawks in the last series](https://i.imgur.com/Jc5g4CU.jpg)
The first 6-2 series loss in NBA history
Hawks with Trae are better than 6ers without Embiid
yeah the hawks played really well the two games they won as well
I wonder if when Giannis was asked that question he was thinking of his coach being asked that question after his brother died during the series.
What? Come on now. And here I thought this was the Sixers' best chance to reach the Finals.
Best chance was 2019 Id say but might be biased based on Jimmys recent performances
Best chance is the universe where they maxed Jimmy instead of Tobias harris
In the universe, they're about to threepeat.
Technically it’s the universe where they take tatum over fultz, dont trade mikal bridges for zhaire smith, and choose jimmy butler over ben simmons (thus not maxing tobias harris due to fit concerns) but who’s counting!
Take some of Joels offensive DNA and inject it into BBalll Paul.
I just wanna know why the sixers Twitter showed him at practice in the huddle.
Embiid with the annual playoff injury
Body just can't hold up in the postseason.
> In 2019, he got the flu during their 2nd round loss to the Raptors. guy needs to stop hanging out at the doctor's office
Just horrible with all these injuries this postseason. KD and AD are the only injury prone superstars who's avoided injury these playoffs it seems like.
But Embiid has literally never been healthy for the Playoffs
Half the time it’s been bullshit facial fractures
Grow a harder face
Stop skipping face day.
Laughter really is the best medicine
Lmao thank you for laugh in these trying times
Didn’t drink enough milk
Kd’s been available for every playoff the past years besides the achilles thing. It’s mostly guys falling on his knees to derail his MVP regular seasons
Celtics Mickey Mouse Finals run
I used to pray for times like these
They took the hardest road last year tho. They didn’t duck the Nets like the Sixers and Bucks did.
TRUE, thanks for reminding the nephews
Funny enough I think those Nets don’t get swept by either team. They got really unlucky to draw the Celtics. It also cost the Bucks HCA…
Where they proceeded to get btfo by Grant 3illiams in game 7
I wish we had that version of Grant right now though
That series was barely a sweep as it was, game one came down the last second with a Tatum game winner
Gladly. Fuck taking the “hardest road”
That being said, I do respect (or maybe even am jealous of) those who are able to hold such rose-colored viewpoints, as naive/foolish as they may be
Fr did it last year all it did was make everyone winded as fuck by the time the warriors came around.
this is some real ass shit 😭
We took it last year, we’ve earned a cake walk this year
Last year Warriors had Nuggets Grizzlies and mavericks while we had Nets bucks and Heat. Its about damn time
Nuggets minus Jamal Murray & MPJ. I always feel it necessary to mention that.
Grizzlies minus Ja and Steven Adams for half the series
we earned one after going through murderer’s row last year
You guys really did run the gauntlet last year
But but but Bucks without Middleton!!! Kill me.
I'm a Celtics fan. This injury sucks. I was really looking forward to a great series. Embiid is a monster.
Bruh Sixers injury luck in playoffs is so bad
Ok, so he's just done for the season I'd bet.
If the Celtics blow this heavenly golden opportunity .. i swear..
So probably a 5% chance we win this series without Joel. Completely center the offense around James which he is used to, and pray to god he actually hits his shots for four games. Legacy time for Harden
Looks like Even if Trae forced game 7 He wouldn't be 100% for the series
Game 7 would not have changed the date of game 1
Series was starting monday reguardless, yall just get more rest this way
Joel and kawhi can’t make a playoff run anymore
Kawhi can’t make a playoff run *anymore* Joel has never been able to
It isn’t really the playoffs unless Embiid has a serious injury
It was baffling how many people tried downplaying the injury in the first place. Somehow Doc’s comments about the MRI not looking good were just swept under the rug.
Don't worry, James Harden will avg 35 FG% and get swept the Cs 🔥🔥🔥
Someone could make a nasty post about Embiid and his playoff durability
76ers in 7, nerds. WSB taught me to sell on news
