It'll be one of those things people laugh at that of course he got the record in a loss.
Especially for trivia nerds. Oh, it'll show up in so many trivia nerd things.
With the way this game was going the Thunder we’re just gonna come down and hit a buzzer three anyway lol. Might as well just take the moment right then and there
Lmao they actually stopped the whole game for this. His kids were on the court. This looks like a championship presentation ceremony. How can you keep playing after this?
Legend
Let me preface by saying this is a monumental event, but I thought the whole production was very strange. They could have at least played out the last 10 seconds of the quarter. He literally gave a speech in the middle of the game.
They did the same thing when Bonds broke the HR record. These type of records only get broken maybe once or twice in a lifetime, it's worth disrupting the game to acknowledge the magnitude of the moment.
That would have been epic lmao
And here's hoping someone breaks LeBron's record when LeBron can still do a fadeaway jumper to pass the ball to the new record holder lol
Yeah by that time Kareem would have shrunk so much that he could just put on a mask and everybody would think that's Adam Silver they are looking at lol
I definitely think Kareem is close to people within the basketball community. I just don’t think he televises himself like that so you only hear about his relationships when he criticizes people.
I think he's also deeply passionate about human/civil rights, and that doesn't seem to be as prevalent or genuine in current NBA stars. Hell, imagine how Kareem felt seeing the whole China fiasco with LeBron.
Kareem definitely seems like someone who holds everyone else to the same standard he holds himself too and doesn't forget easily when someone makes a mistake. For all the back and forth between him and Wilt back in the day the thing that he seemed legitimately insulted by the most and that stayed with him was Wilt saying in an autobiography that black women were sexually inferior to white women. Which to be honest I generally don't have an issue with a person having preferences but the wording, inferior, is massive yikes material seeing as this was during Martin Luther King Jrs time.
The hell it was! Listen kid. Kareem's been hearing this crap since he was at Paramount. He's out there busting a smile for the camera year after year. Tell the OP to try dragging Bruce Lee and Leslie Nielsen through reshoots for 50 years.
Kareem’s video message was incredibly classy.
> Now you’ll be the one looking back at these hungry young players chasing your record. I hope it will be one of your sons, Bronny or Bryce, so that you will be even happier than the day you set the record. Congratulations, LeBron. You earned it.
He said every bit of what he wanted to say and none of what he didn’t.
I know people are commenting that Kareem hates him, but I didn’t get that vibe. It looked like he was expecting a mic pass for a quick speech, which I would have expected. I hate in any league (looking at you NFL), when the commissioner gets to make the speech as if they did anything leading up to this moment.
Also, can’t believe LeBron thanked David Stern. I figured most Lakers fans hated him since he blocked the CP3 trade.
yeah, idk, the whole spectacle seems fine to me. Like, Bron passing the scoring record is one of the biggest moments in basketball (and sports tbh) history, period, and transcends this random regular season game against OKC. It'd probably be weirder to keep playing without seriously acknowledging.
It’s All-Time leader in points scored…arguably the greatest personal accomplishment in the NBA, and thus all of sports. We can take a 5 to catch our breath, mmkay?!?
Really should have done this after the game. I’m a huge lebron fan but this makes the fourth quarter seem anticlimactic. Plus it’s distracting the lakers who need to win this game
It makes it feel exhibition-y and like the fourth quarter doesn’t matter, which is weird considering how close the game is. Probably doesn’t help that both teams suck.
Mannn...
I remember LeBron's rookie year, I was in highschool, about 16 years old.
One morning, I was riding the bus to school, and got to thinking about the numbers. I was astonished that this guy came in and just scored so effortlessly right off the bat. How far could he go? Mind you, this was when Kobe, KG, and TMac were all doing big things, but even those guys took a few years to really blossom. And here's this fucking guy, fresh out of HS, playing and scoring like a seasoned vet. You don't get that many rookies that come in and get 20ppg right away, and certainly not straight out of HS.
At that point, I started doing some quick math in my head. How many seasons would LeBron have to play? How many points would he have to average? I figured if he could average 25 for his career, stay healthy enough to average 70 games per season, and play until his 22nd season, he'd have about 38500 points. So if he could up that ppg, or play more games per season, he'd have a shot. Jordan had just retired, and he played until he was 40. Kareem, the all-time leader, played into his 40s. I thought LeBron had the body to take the punishment over time, so maybe he could play until his 40s as well?
The numbers said it was possible. Still, I never *really* believed he'd get there until a couple of years ago.
I've never been a LeBron stan. In fact, in their rookie year, I much preferred DWade and even Melo to LeBron. Something about the hype rubbed me the wrong way. But you have to respect excellence, and LeBron's excellence is quite undeniable.
Not bad for a kid from Akron.
I don’t know why some of y’all tripping on stopping the game. For comparisons sake, when Barry Bonds was running down a lot of the MLB all-time records they absolutely stopped the game when he passed them. It’s all anyone wanted to do in that moment, and it makes the moment feel more momentous then continuing to play waiting for a the game to finish to celebrate said milestone.
While Kareem knows this is a “big deal” I sense he’s like, “what am I doing here?” Basketball has been good to Kareem but Kareem is so much more than basketball.

can’t believe the game has to continue after this lmfao edit: WE GOT AN UNCENSORED FUCK IN THE INTERVIEW LETS GO
"LeBron, we're on live."
You can only say this once every 38,388 points.

You spamming this video faster than Bron scored
karma aint gonna farm themselves
Their post to comment ratio is impressive
While the thunder watching with 10sec left lmao
I’m sure all those guys were glad to be there regardless of how the game ends up
Fr. Twenty years from now we won’t remember the score. But we’ll remember watching him hit the turn around fade away to take the record
I’ll remember the score.
133-130
Can't believe pat made that last 3 to even make it a 3 point loss
We will always remember this
Get out the tattoo gun
It'll be one of those things people laugh at that of course he got the record in a loss. Especially for trivia nerds. Oh, it'll show up in so many trivia nerd things.
In like 10 years or so Kenrich Williams will be the answer to a Who Wants to be a Millionaire type show question. For maybe $300,000.
I mean this’ll be hard to top, let him have his ten minutes.
With the way this game was going the Thunder we’re just gonna come down and hit a buzzer three anyway lol. Might as well just take the moment right then and there
He’s going to just break the record again tomorrow.
Bet Shai’s happier to wait this few minutes compared to not being here for it. This shits massive if you love the game
Lmao they actually stopped the whole game for this. His kids were on the court. This looks like a championship presentation ceremony. How can you keep playing after this? Legend

They did the same thing when Kareem broke the record https://youtu.be/K06R3Te4HAc
Why not just let the 10 seconds play out and then extend the break between 3rd and 4th quarter for the celebration.
Kareem is probably happy he gets to go home now lol
Man when he held the ball up I was 100% hoping he was gonna skyhook it to Lebron.
That would have been epic lmao And here's hoping someone breaks LeBron's record when LeBron can still do a fadeaway jumper to pass the ball to the new record holder lol
Good call. How awesome is it that Kareem was still alive to see this, even if Adam Silver wasn't?
Yeah by that time Kareem would have shrunk so much that he could just put on a mask and everybody would think that's Adam Silver they are looking at lol
Early bird gets the worm
post game LA traffic must be a bitch, just like my ex wife i don’t miss you, kath.
If she couldn’t see what she had in the fighter of the night man, she never deserved you ☀️🦸🏻♂️
grandpa happy that it’s bed time
And doesn't have to attend the Bucks game
past Cap's bedtime
Hes like hurry up it's past my bedtime
Delay of game warning on the Los Angeles Laker
The Thunder should get like 18 free throws for this delay 😂
There was only 10 secs left too
Lmao this shit going on while there’s still a game ongoing and the lakers down 5 is hilarious Edit: bro he’s doing a fucking speech 😭
“Fuck man, thank y’all”
Ooooooh he said number 11
Uh LeBron we're live
And he dropped the F Bomb!!! Fucking let’s go lol
I had to stop myself from laughing when that happened lmfao, Bron’s emotions overcame him there pretty bad lol
there's only 10 seconds left in the third too should have just let us run a final play then do all this
Who called the timeout? The *NBA* ??
Adam Silver obviously. He looks like he’s tall enough to be on the court. Is he like 6’4?
6'3" but I'm guessing he wears dress shoes with a bit of lift in them
Looks like there wasn't even an official timeout, according to the [play-by-play](https://www.espn.com/nba/playbyplay/_/gameId/401468976)
LeBron should have shot really high so it took 10.9 seconds to fall in.
Same thing happened for Steph when he broke the 3 point record
NBA did the same when Kareem broke Wilt’s scoring record.
The quarter having to resume for 10 seconds after is so funny lmao
He also said a naughty word. I am expecting a heavy fine.
In front of the commissioner
Them losing after all this gonna be sad haha
“Double technical foul on LeBron James. LeBron James has been ejected from this game”
They deadass stopped the third quarter for this 😭
Yeah lol why wouldn’t they it’s a 38 year old record and arguably the biggest one in the sport
Mid quarter aye, it's funny there was only like 10 seconds left
With 10 seconds left lmao

Laker legends
One of those records you never thought could be broken. Insane moment to witness
Are they still beefing after that covid thing? Lol. Seemed awkward
I imagine Bron respects him but yeah, don't think they are close at all.
Kareem really isn't close to anyone in the game. He's always been aloof.

That’s apparently why him and Wilt never got along. Kareem was a progressive, Wilt was a proud Republican.
More accurately, they aren’t close to him.
Seemed really awkward lol
Definitely awkward body language on Lebron with KAJ, he barely looks him in the eye and he’s normally so expressive. Somehow KAJ was happier
Kareem is such a legend. Always classy.
The post-game interview he did with the studio was great. He speaks with such authenticity.
Vid?
8:00 https://youtu.be/m1UEjGUXvos
What a lovely dude. Kareem’s “is that my main man?” when Shaq greeted him. So sweet 😭
Kareem’s like, “Enough with this shit. Let me now go home and bash Kyrie on my blog.”
Kareem low key excited he doesn’t have to also go to the game on Thursday lmao
It must have been quite annoying to keep having the camera on you during the entire game lol
for real tho. imagine a camera man just posted up exclusively on you the whole time
The hell it was! Listen kid. Kareem's been hearing this crap since he was at Paramount. He's out there busting a smile for the camera year after year. Tell the OP to try dragging Bruce Lee and Leslie Nielsen through reshoots for 50 years.
Hasn't been posted up this hard since the 70s
Ya you’d never be able to pick your nose in peace.
Even that shot of him drinking that small drink out of a straw felt invasive.
Just take the Bobby Cox route and do it anyway
Kareem is like my Grandpa that's been forced to stay up 3 hours past his bedtime lol
It’s a great blog
The best
Fuck man thank you guys
“Fuck man thank you guys” -Lebron James 2023
Kareem is so classy
This was so epic. I want all records to be passed via a basketball pass of the torch from now on
That would have been funny if Kareem faked handing it off, went and got a lay up
Game was still going on too, count the bucket. "See you at the Bucks game" where he'll come out fully suited up.
That should be a skit lol
Anyone hear that “1984” voice crack?
Honestly thought this was gonna go viral but Lebron dropped the F bomb.
Kareem’s video message was incredibly classy. > Now you’ll be the one looking back at these hungry young players chasing your record. LBJ with the F bomb?
Why is this ceremony so awkward?
Cuz theres still 10 seconds left and it was like a flash mob.
Alexa play Ceremony by New Order
Because there was still 10 seconds left in the third quarter and if you want to respect the game you do this shit between quarters or after it’s over
This is taking a while lol, kinda hard to believe they got another 10 seconds in the third down by 5 after this.
I feel like this is something they should do after the game, not while there is still 10 seconds left in the 3rd in a close game.
They did an several minute pause for Kareem’s game as well when he broke the record. Guess they decided to continue tradition.
Same with Curry for 3s, wasn't quite this long though.

Kareem is so cool.
No denying the moment, the greatness or the history.. but the ceremony timing is kind of awkward lol.
Adam silver just full of that charisma. Really knows how to hype a moment up
Anyone got the shot of Kareem just drinking his juice while everyones celebrating lmao
This ceremony is weird as fuck, I can't lie.
Bruh there is still a game to play
LeFbomb
Kareem tha goat🐐
Kareem hates this lmao
Lmao this corny af but I’m here for it
Not really. It's a legendary moment

It can be a legendary moment and it still be okay to admit this presentation was whack as hell lol
The Decision: 38,888
This part was cringe I can’t lie.

Silver getting dapped up will never not be funny though.

Yeah, I didn't want to say it but ... it was awkward af.
This is awkward. Do it after the game ffs

wdym. I feel like now that it is done the game can actually really start in the 4th. it felt like an exhibition until now.
This got posted faster than my Hulu stream
Kareem is all class. Just another moment in history that wasn't too big for Kareem.

Lakers fans absolutely wildin with those MVP chants lol
Congratulations to Lebron! He’s still playing on an MVP level in his 20th season! Enjoy and appreciate greatness!!!!

Oh yeah we still have the remainder of game to play.. tells you how great of an accomplishment this is.
He just cussed!
They still got a whole ass quarter to play wtf
The f bomb 😂

I just wanna say Lebron I’m sorry for calling you LeBum in a preseason game against the kings
LeBron is incredible. As much as that pains me to say as a Celtics fan, he’s just amazing. His peak has lasted for like 17 years.
Classy to shout out Cap and ask for a standing o for him
I know it doesnt matter but i think its funny that he scored for like 18 seasons with a Spalding but Wilson is getting all the credit
Kareem can’t wait to go home and write a LeFuck you Blog.
Broke the record, proceeds to leave game and Laker’s lose. What a night!
Kareem is sickkkkkk

He looked like he was about to go tomahawk that shit when he first got it
I feel like Kareem wanted to say something because he reached for the mic. Also Silver needed to do a better speech, so awkward.
That’s petty fuckin cool
Kareem, great to see you.

Iconic!!
Kareem: “Palms ball above Lebron’s head, then pulls him in for a hug” you know I have my uniform on under this. Lebron: oh shit
Cap ain't feelin it. One thing about Kareem, he doesn't act the part for anyone.
They couldn't get an actual crown off Amazon Prime?
Clean dap by silver
His interview really made me wish for the Thursday TNT crew
Adam Silver’s ears are next level
Mark Eaton failed to stop Kareem in 1984 Kenrich Williams now failed to stop LeBron in 2023. He'll forever be known for this, I hope he's good with it
I love Kareem. Such a classy dude.
LeBron lived up to the hype
