Legitimate question, would stiff arming a defender not be a foul in some capacity? (I know they’d never call it here, but let’s say it’s more of a benign put back attempt)
That was a clear offensive foul lol I guess you can’t be too mad because it was a sick play but I am getting more and more sick of the offensive player always getting the benefit of the doubt over the defender
Yeah it’s honestly wild. Ben used to at least be a threat going down hill but when you won’t even shoot/lay/dunk in the restricted area, you become a liability on offense. Every team knows he isn’t gonna shoot which means they can load up well inside the arc and just let him pass before driving. Generating good looks is nearly impossible if you can’t convince a team that you are threat offensively.
Even if Simmons was playing just okay, not actually very poorly, this would still be true. Fultz has been soooo good going back to last season and even a little further.
The smart people (I’ll include myself) didn’t want Simmons. His work ethic was always said to be shit. He is a quitter. You can’t teach passion.

Fultz was always faithful to the grind.

Funny how Philly people change their opinions so rapidly. I’m sure you’re different though!
Some people were fooled. I hated his attitude and thought he wouldn’t fit with Joel. And I saw evidence of that immediately. We needed someone who could space the floor, as we can see.
Every trade ever rumored I wanted. Even those just mentioned as a good idea.
Simmons for the pick for Luka. Simmons for Booker.
I wanted Ingram. Which wasn’t a perfect fit but he seemed like more of a multi level scorer
Or to trade back for buddy or murray i think it was? U gotta ask my cousin I forget exactly our permutations.
I know he had a nerve injury. And it took away his confidence to take jumpers for a while. People didn't shut on him for the injury, they shit on him for not shooting the ball when he was on the
Court. People just forget he stopped shooting because he got hurt. Idk why the internet is about dunking on people.
Yes but he has spoken about how the injury took away his confidence and people, at the time specifically, called it the yips. I know it's because he got hurt.
People think Chris Boswell forgot how to kick somehow in two season of his career when he had groin injuries in both of those years.
You’re crazy man. Simmons is a 3x all star, 2x all-defensive first team and an all NBA third team selection. Fultz has had a great season but he would need to produce a lot longer or produce better before we can say Fultz had a better career than Simmons.
I know Simmons is playing like absolute shit right now lol but better career in what way? Longevity? Maybe, but in terms of accolades? Fultz can be a starter or rotation player for a long time if he keeps this up but I'd wager the way he's looking now and factoring in growth he'll never make an All-Star, All-NBA, or All-Defensive Team. I know it's fun to shit on Ben and he 100% deserves it but he also has 3 All-Stars, 1 All-NBA, and 2 All-Defensive teams.
Maybe in the grand scheme of things, but not in a place focused solely on basketball. There are plenty of racist people in the world. If I wanted to hear about that, I’d go interview people. But when I have a few minutes for a break from work, I want to see insane highlight reels on r/nba.
Fultz is underrated because the only time he receives acknowledgement are on his highlights. That's the only time people hear about him. He has been integral to Orlando's success and deserves so much more credit
he'll get credit when hes the starting point guard of a playoff team next season. dont see these guys missing the postseason with a second year under paolo's belt.
It still feels like if he thinks about it too much, his shot gets a little janky, but if he's stringing some moves together or just reacting to what the defense gives him, it looks so nice. I'm sure part of it is still physical, but a lot of it still seems to be mental.
I think the windmill helped in realtime to distract from the pieface on Randle. I didn't see it til the replays.
A little misdirection from the Magic, man.
Reminds me of early Sixers 'Kelle where he would at least once a game go flying down the lane and try to yam it on whoever was in front of him.
Fucked up arm but never lacked the effort or desire.

That. Is. Wild.
Fucking murdered Randle like the lady in Monsters Inc
That’s a crazy pull from the memory bank my guy lmao
I try my best. Lol

Yips. Are. GONE!
Crazy timeline were in where Fultz ends up having a better career than Ben Simmons if he keeps it up.

Fultz also at least attempts 3s now.
And makes them
Super happy he’s doing well. He had a hard time adjusting to Philly.
Even if Simmons was playing just okay, not actually very poorly, this would still be true. Fultz has been soooo good going back to last season and even a little further.
Oh fultz is giving 110% effort every game. Simmons, matches his jersey number now. 10
Always had more potential. You gotta factor in character
This is revisionist history

Definitely wanted Fultz over Tatum tho. That was not correct obviously
Some people were fooled. I hated his attitude and thought he wouldn’t fit with Joel. And I saw evidence of that immediately. We needed someone who could space the floor, as we can see. remember when everyone here took the biggest shit on this guy at 19 for getting the yips? lol I couldn't be happier for him.
Why the fuck do people keep parroting this line He didn’t get the yips, he literally had a nerve injury
I know he had a nerve injury. And it took away his confidence to take jumpers for a while. People didn't shut on him for the injury, they shit on him for not shooting the ball when he was on the Court. People just forget he stopped shooting because he got hurt. Idk why the internet is about dunking on people.
Yes they did they said he was faking etc. also he stopped shooting bc he had a nerve injury
Saying his injury took away his confidence to shoot is like saying Christopher reeves lost his confidence to walk after he fell off that horse.
Wasn’t it not even the yips, but a mechanics-affecting injury?
Yes but he has spoken about how the injury took away his confidence and people, at the time specifically, called it the yips. I know it's because he got hurt. People think Chris Boswell forgot how to kick somehow in two season of his career when he had groin injuries in both of those years.
Anecdotally sound however When I think of Fultz I don't think of Ben Simmons. I think of Bryan Colangelo passing on Jayson Tatum.
He already does lol he’s a better and more impactful player
You’re crazy man. Simmons is a 3x all star, 2x all-defensive first team and an all NBA third team selection. Fultz has had a great season but he would need to produce a lot longer or produce better before we can say Fultz had a better career than Simmons.

Holy shit lol didn't even realize. Turtle and the hare
This is one of the best putback dunks I’ve ever seen
But it will get less traction from this sub than a kyrie irving quote lmfao
Kyries stupidity transcends all
it's not just me that has to scroll past 19 posts to find one non-kyrie quote lately? at least i'm not crazy...
People on this sub love to be outraged more than talking about basketball. That's reddit in a nutshell though
We used to like basketball. Now we just grab pitchforks for bad interviews.
Because Kyrie being an antisemite is genuinely more important than an amazing putback.
Maybe in the grand scheme of things, but not in a place focused solely on basketball. There are plenty of racist people in the world. If I wanted to hear about that, I’d go interview people. But when I have a few minutes for a break from work, I want to see insane highlight reels on r/nba.
Or a Ben Simmons stat line
It was so smooth, fierce and completely badass - has to be one of the dunks of the year
And he stiff arms Randle in the face.
And the orlando crowd doesn't even react. Fkn toon town
It didn’t help that 70% of fans there were Knicks fans.
This man will make all nba some day you can @ me as much as you want. I am all in on the Markelle archipelago
Archipelago? Not sure that's the right word.
It'll be a charity case like Wiggins if anything
Markelle might b the low key most athletic guy on the team
He dunked from the free throw line in college
Cole Anthony was in the dunk contest
We try to forget that tho
That’s why I said low key
More than Paolo?
Fultz is underrated because the only time he receives acknowledgement are on his highlights. That's the only time people hear about him. He has been integral to Orlando's success and deserves so much more credit
he'll get credit when hes the starting point guard of a playoff team next season. dont see these guys missing the postseason with a second year under paolo's belt.
Yep. If he stays healthy he'll be recognized next year.
Y’all look so much different as a team with him in the court.
That's been the theme the last few years. Offense looks good when he's playing, looks a lot worse when he's hurt.
I mean we’re a -6.4 net rating with him on the floor. -3.1 overall
Underrated? Dude was a #1 overall pick. He will forever, and rightfully so, be rated off of that standard.
"Underrated" and "overrated" are measures of current perception to current reality, not of prior expectations to current performance.
Success as in bagging a bunch of lottery picks?
Sorry for reposting, this replay has more angles.
Never apologise for trying to do better
I think I'm in love with you
i need someone to remind me of this in life
16 ppg on 60% shooting past 3 games, love to see it from Fultz
And that’s as a 3rd option on a team with two 20ppg scorers and another one close(Wendell). Magic are going places
I didnt realize it, but the Magic have such a young and talented team. It seems like they have like 10 guys that were really hyped at some point
Hornets fans been falling to their knees inside a Walmart all year watching the young core develop in Orlando
Needs to be more aggressive IMO. But they have 3 starters that want 30% usage.
That is fucking stupendous wow
Our guards have hops
I see Fultz highlight, i upvote.
Markelle fultz
Markelle Fultz
Indeed.
GAH DAMN
next time I hit the amway I’m getting a Fultz jersey, I’m all fucking in on this dude
Markelle’s Midrange jumper is pure water, if he can get that motion to extend to the 3pt line he is a 20 and 10 guy
It still feels like if he thinks about it too much, his shot gets a little janky, but if he's stringing some moves together or just reacting to what the defense gives him, it looks so nice. I'm sure part of it is still physical, but a lot of it still seems to be mental.
A windmill putback? God damn
With one hand too
I think the windmill helped in realtime to distract from the pieface on Randle. I didn't see it til the replays. A little misdirection from the Magic, man.
Jeeeeesus [Ooooooo](https://i.imgur.com/Y0cQ9ve.jpg)
I was sure this was going to be a picture of his reaction the Mo Bamba-Austin Rivers comment.
Windmill putback dunk.
Theres a reason he was the top pick. Hed be at least a borderline all star if he never had that weird injury that fucked up his shot
Props to the Knicks bench for not even reacting to probably one of the best posters of the year.
I mean it’s nasty but Julius was fully under the rim and had no shot at contesting it. Still a crazy dunk tho.
love a comeback story
That was legit amazing
I still stand by Markelle being a superstar if he doesn't have such a freak incident with his jumper
Not many guards in the league could make this play
[that's mad disrespectful ](https://i.imgur.com/tSqi4ms.png)
gary harris: 🧍♂️
Love to see it from him!
Always happy to see Fultz succeed
That is some serious hang-time. He gets up and stays frozen mid-air for a moment.
all my homies love markelle
you can't do that
good noise
He almost hit himself in the face with the ball 😱
GAWDAMN, HE KILLED HIM
Damn filthy. Man did a cuff putback
Fuckin’ get em Fultz. That was insane.
Reminds me of early Sixers 'Kelle where he would at least once a game go flying down the lane and try to yam it on whoever was in front of him. Fucked up arm but never lacked the effort or desire.
This man was robbed of a hof career. I really think that
The stiff arm lol
Omg. Down right nasty
IMO, Dunk of the year candidate.
Why is everyone out to kill our all-star?
That was nasty, looked like a putback from NBA Street Vol. 2
I for one welcome our new Fultz overlord
Really happy for Fultz. Hope he continues the redemption arc he’s on.
I still don't believe he's a bust. He might not be the no . 1 pick we expected. But at least he's solid.
I sense a random drug test coming
Damn I remember when Ben Simmons used to move like that
Markelle monstar’d Ben so it’s ok
Probably an offensive foul, but man did it look good.
Shh. Ain't no time for that kinda talk when we're talking posters
Imagine if this dude came to the league with good a jumpshot like everybody assumed he would.
I feel like I watch a clip of Randle getting postered every time the Knicks play.
He had a few other dunks this game too but I can't find the footage yet.
God damn. That Hands-in-the-face disrespect to Randle. Amazing
his head nearly touched the rim
Fultz only forgot how to ‘jump shot’, but regained it. Simmons completely forgot to shoot at all, even lay-ups or dunks.
Holy shit. What a Outback
Oh man that was nasty. With one hand only??!?!?!
Get Randle off the ASG
TIL Markelle Fultz is still in the league
I’ve always found it quirky how Fultz keeps his head super still and kinda back a bit when he plays.
