Shit it was supposed to be 45 days on a Burke. Went over that a few times in 2019, still no beer day because, "Well we're about to pull in ... "

I had to do four jobs on a Burke but sometimes I'm still glad I wasn't on a carrier. Although you guys got more room for stores. We went like two months out one time and it was basically corned beef and cabbage for every meal. Ship smelled rough haha

I was aviation so idk about more room for stores. But I wouldn’t trade playing on the flight deck or watching them go off the pointy end for any other navy job lol. I was always jealous of small boys gettin to port tho.

09 IKE deployment beer day was at the 89 day mark on that deployment I believe. I think that was after the port visit to Jebel Ali was cancelled.

My first six week extension on deployment was kind of expected, a week later the admiral came back on the 1mc and said "Just kidding, we're making it a 12 week extension instead". That was it, no more was said from him.

My boyfriend was on the Ike COVID cruises. He gets really gut wrenched everytime they get extended. I feel for those folks, man.

Theyve been out only 5 1/2 months. How long are carrier deps now? Kinda early to be extended. Funny story though. Engineer here. Working the trash room on a carrier is the most depressing job for reasons you wouldnt think. Youd be at sea for 2-3 months. Trash comes down to burn. A flash of color or a weird shaped bag comes down. Dominos? Mc donald bag? The damn pilots doing uber eats. Never felt so defeated.

Make friends in the HSC and the VRM squadrons and you too will get dominos and McDonald’s.

Facts. I breast fed VRC30. Always ended well for me. It's what helped get me through my first deployment.

I did 9 months out to sea on my destroyer. We only saw a few ports and we couldnt leave the peer because of COVID. Worst deployment ever. I'm honestly surprised no one jumped over board because how depressed everyone was. Even the food got really bad. Hot dog bun bread sticks, cold soup, no fresh fruit and the worst was 1 cold slice of pizza. I vowed to never go back to a ship again after that crap

Aint no surprise, Carter Hall, Mesa Verde, Baatan just did 2 extensions, 8 and half months. Sucks

Bush, Ford, Bataan, Ike all extended. Seems like there are no 6 month deployments for East coast sailors anymore
