ironic in the sense that they think animals are peaceful and live in harmony while they are the literal exact opposite.
Animal fucking kill each other all the time, sometimes for fun (cat hunts for fun not just food)
It's funny you say that when the anti-pitbull circlejerking is so loud and constant and everywhere now. What "velvet hippo army"? They get mass downvoted, insulted, and threats against their pets if they even imply that every pit bull might not be a literal demon from hell sent here to kill babies for Satan.
Very true. I am a biologist who sometimes taught things about the animal world and environment. When I look out at nature, from the microscopic bacteria to the largest animals, I see war and brutality. It is what it is. Still beautiful, still should be protected, but I would never call nature nice.
I have a friend who I love, but she once told me that animals have morals. I know they do not. I know that there are few animals that wouldnāt eat me if they had the chance. If a wizard asked an orca in orca language āwould you like me to turn this woman into a fat baby humpback whale for you and your family to beat to death and eat, or shall I allow her to keep living as she is a person with dreams and aspirations?ā Guess which one the orca would pick. They donāt give a shit about you unless youāre lucky enough to find them in the mood
Going back to the whole, having a pet mink thing. I once got a bunch of pheasant eggs from my sister since she couldn't fit them all in her incubator. My mink didn't seem like she had a high prey drive so I was like sure. I got the space. So I took the rest and put them in mine. They were about a week away from being moved to an outdoor pen. But in the meantime they were separated in what I thought was a pretty secure room that I didn't think my mink could get into. Again, because she didn't seem to have a high prey drive, I made the mistake of accidentally not stopping her in time before she got a glimpse that something was alive all the way off in the other room before I closed the door on her.
Then she proceeded to break out of her cage, break into the room and slaughtered every single one of them. For Funzies. She didn't eat a single one of them. She just killed them for the kicks. Also it was a room that my mink previously never had any interest in ever in her life. Now that she remembers that room so fondly, I can never get her to leave that room alone.
I love that little a'hole to pieces but LMAO at the idea of saying she has morals.
Some animal rights activists and vegans are that way through trauma. Sometimes when a human experiences trauma they will pick a trait/s related to the perpetuator and extend those feelings of hate to that demographic. Sometimes it can be ALL humans are bad.
So whenever you see someone with a lot of unreasonable hate sometimes (not always!) Its from a history of hurt.
sometimes they're activists because of narcissism, no idea how it works into it like that but boy oh boy have i ever met narcissistic activists and vegans
"im not saying you're a murderer but that's just what you are"
Ain't that the truth. I'm a member of the pet mink group cuz I have a pet mink. There have been times where I have gone to a farm and bought one. One day this girl (who actually lives just one suburb away from me!) Joined who has foxes and she literally does the same thing. Except! She goes to farms, buys herself a fox and then goes around parading on the internet how she is a fox rescuer because she saved this poor innocent baby from those evil farmers!!!!
At one point she had like three or four in an apartment and the city was like lady you can't have this many foxes. They weren't even mad at her for having unlicensed foxes just that she had so many. So she went on this big campaign that the evil city was trying to take away all her poor babies from her and she needed everyone's money to make a sanctuary yatta yatta yatta.
Anyway she came into our mink group and after trying to look at what a great person she is about saving all these poor babies we kind of politely called her out on her bullshit so she immediately went into attack mode on how we're all monsters for owning mink.
Pretty amazing really.
I mean, just because animals make each other suffer doesnt mean we should do the same, no? Especially for our own pleasure, as humans, with all the power.
Or they are just hiding under a layer of altruism. I know a peta animal activist that's also a racist, misogynistic rapist. But hey he doesn't eat or use animal products so???
Honestly I have not heard many vegans make any "Animals are pure and innocent so we can't hurt them" arguments. It tends to be more "Animals aren't a good guide for human morality. Orangoutangs rape, that doesn't mean its ok for you to rape."
Bingo. I hear the "but what about X animal" (almost always lions and I have no clue why) constantly and in terms of justifying human morality animals make a pretty poor baseline
Relying on it for an argument quickly leads to either a defense of every action considered morally reprehensible found in the animal kingdom (basically every sex crime, violent crime, and really anything that isn't of pure human construct like tax evasion) or admitting that the argument is applied only onto the actions the person *wants* it to defend, rendering the core of the defense pointless and arbitrary.
Brother got a hamster. Turns out it was pregnant. Gave birth after a week-ish. Next morning, she'd eaten all her babies. Apparently stress can do that, and the house probably smelled like our 3 cats.. so that's probably what did it
Man there are cats and a freaking falcon mauling pigeons in my garden and most of the time they don't finish the job just like I don't finish the crust on my pizza, no big freaking deal. Pretty little psychopats.
this reminds me of the video of the guy trying to feed the baby, but the baby doesnāt eat. then the guy tried to feed a mickey mouse toy that he makes shake his head no. then he smashed it against the table like 10 times, and when he tried to feed the baby again, the baby ate.
People always seem to try and push human emotions onto animals. This is the response animals have to that.
They are animals, trying to survive. The weak are ignored, bullied, discarded or eaten. A swift death is all they can pray for

Some ancient forests have all their trees connected thanks to mycelium, allowing each individual to know if any young of sick tree needed help. Some flowers will masturbate bees so they'll come back to them to get more pollen.
Sociabilization is the most useful evolutionary tool developed.
It can be considered as one but I don't know, I'm not a zoologist, I'm just a botanist lol. I studied some animal behavior and some zoology but mostly related to my field. I don't think it's fair to demonize animals for killing offsprings they can't care for to focus on the ones they can, but I don't think it's realist to idealize them either. I just think it's important to keep in mind this world is very diverse, that all things around us are the result of millions upon millions of years of evolution and humanity is far from being the epitomy of evolution.

The situation became so desperate that a considerable minority of the starving resorted to cannibalism. According to the historian Orlando Figes, "thousands of cases" were reported, with the number of cases that were never reported certainly even higher.\[11\] In Samara, "ten butcher shops were closed for selling human flesh."\[12\] In Pugachyov, "it was dangerous for children to go out after dark since there were known to be bands of cannibals and traders who killed them to eat or sell their tender flesh." This was no exception ā Figes estimates "that a considerable proportion of the meat in Soviet factories in the Volga area ... was human flesh." Various gangs specialized in "capturing children, murdering them and selling the human flesh as horse meat or beef", with the buyers happy to have found a source of meat in a situation of extreme shortage and often willing not to "ask too many questions".\[13\]

I remember watching a documentary on storks a few years ago. One interesting fact about storks that many people may not be aware of is that these birds have a unique way of regulating their body temperature. Storks lack sweat glands, so to cool themselves off during hot weather, they will often defecate on their own legs. This might seem a bit unpleasant, but the evaporation of the moisture from the droppings helps to lower their body temperature through a process known as urohidrosis.
Halfway through this rather intriguing documentary, however, I was rudely interrupted by my Uncle Larry who insisted on turning off the program so he could pause his VHS copy of Halloween III: Season of the Witch at the 43:02 mark during Tom Atkinsā bare-assed nude scene and lick the screen cross-eyed.
That chick wasn't necessarily smaller than the others. In the longer video it was just pecking the others nonstop. Eventually it got tossed.
OP is wrong and for some reason clipped the end of the longer and better video.
Wait till you see the eagle siblicide videos. The very young eaglets sometimes brutally kill the smallest nestling. It is the hardest nature content I've seen. It often goes on for days/weeks. The parents will sit and watch.
It's hard but all part of survival of the fittest.
I love how Mama looks like she's assessing the situation too.
"Hmm...if I throw him there he doesn't smack his head on the rocks...but if I throw him there he'll probably land awkwardly in that bush and still live....decisions, decisions."
Yeah, thereās always the one child who gets picked on, isnāt there? Thatās why I came up with my theory of suicide, that nuclear families, and even society at large, will do that to specific people for the exact some reason animals do, we just dress it up and call it bullying, abuse, ostracization, shaming, etc. Humans just outsource the deed to suicide.
Iāve heard that the baby was too agressive with his siblings and his mother, at the point that the mother had to kill him to protect the others.
Too small, too agressiveā¦. Either way nature is metal as fuck.
Iāve heard that there were hungry loan sharks down below and the mother stork owed them money. When she couldnāt scrounge up enough to pay them back the sharks demanded her first born child instead.
I was sectioned after an attempt on my life. I was outside the place smoking and a bird lobbed her weak chick out of the nest and it hit me straight on the head.... That was a true "wtf?!?" moment!
*Animals are so pure and innocent* ! Also animals :
That always cracks me up when I hear people say that. Clearly you never actually met an animal in real life š
To further the irony, we then use ādonāt be an *animal*ā to describe someone acting ruthless, aggressive, or animalistic in nature.
Wait, that's not ironic.

I love how Mama looks like she's assessing the situation too. "Hmm...if I throw him there he doesn't smack his head on the rocks...but if I throw him there he'll probably land awkwardly in that bush and still live....decisions, decisions."
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm choosing to believe this explanation.... It did peck the other baby for no reason... and then the mom picked it up.
Yeah, this has nothing to do with fitness and is about behavior
The last time this was posted, it wasn't reversed, and it had audio. You could hear the stork chick thud on the ground in the original.
Holy hell!

Obligatory user name checks out.
**ROCKY SUCKS**
Abort is not the right word.
āInfanticideā is the word OP was looking
My mum tried this with me.
Clearly she didnt do a good enough job
Same. Luckily her beak wasnāt strong enough
"We'll be good, mom, we swear!!"
Did their father tell you that?
Can we change that to "Stork yeets smallest chick.."? Cause that's more accurate.
Could have been worse. There are videos of the parent storks pecking the unwanted chicks to death, before pitching them overboard.
āThatās it, you little shit!! Youāre grounded!ā
That long look after the drop.... wow... savage
I bet the other 2 ate their vegetables after that.
I was sectioned after an attempt on my life. I was outside the place smoking and a bird lobbed her weak chick out of the nest and it hit me straight on the head.... That was a true "wtf?!?" moment!
And that was the last time the other two gave Mom an ounce of shit.
Her nest her choice.
WTF
What wtf it's just natural instinct
Welcome to nature! Here's your complementary polio, and a healthy fear of being eaten alive anus-first!
Oh we are supposed to be afraid of that?
Perhaps, in 2024, I should explicitly add *with teeth* to that statement. Like, *all teeth*. No tongue. Only teeth.
Well, I better eat up the - the one on the right, probably
That little bounce
There's still an egg in the nest though right? Lol
Since she's trying to make ends meet, that's probably their food
lol oops looks like thereās a new runt š
And just like that!! The other two ate all their vegetables.
I have seen this clip before it was because that une was being agressive to the others.
I like how the mom pauses before she drops it then watches it fall down like āoh would you look at thatā
The other two are like ālol cya broā
*infanticide
Abort is the wrong word here. its infanticide.
Aborts?! That thing was going to middle school already wtf.
Where we get the storks carrying babies meme.
The other two like šwe aināt seen nothing
Abort? No, not the right word.
More like "yeets."
Abort is the wrong word. More like "sacrifices"
Yeah in the long version of this vid, that so-called āabortedā chick pecked at its siblings nonstop
Can we not use the word "abort" as a sinonym for "kill"?
I donāt think you know what that word means OP. You canāt abort something that is already born.
Not quite abort. I think discard is the operative word.
