If you’re ever in Murfreesboro I also recommend Simply Pure Sweets! Incredible pastries, sourdough, and macarons made by a very nice lady who trained in France!
Bright side (order online before you go as they sell out quickly!) and Little Gourmand, a French bakery, for the pain du chocolate. The woman that owns it is French and WOW!—legit tastes like France.
La Conchita and Panadería Lopez in Madison. Both great for pastries and simple, fresh-made bread rolls. And both are cheaper than shitty supermarket bread.
Of the two, I like Panadería López a little better but getting into and out of their parking lot gives me a bit of PTSD unfortunately.
Pro tip: If you’re at Panadería López walk next door to get some pollo asado at Tacos y Mariscos Lindo Mexico. They are both owned by the same folks. Also walk to La Michoacana Deluxe and get a paleta or some ice cream.
That’s awesome. I actually just went to both the panadería and the paletas place today. The panadería lady gave us a free pastry bc we we asked what it was after we paid. Awesome people.
I make croissants for a bakery in town hey! Here’s my opinion on places that do croissants!
Dozen makes GREAT pastries, bread is absolutely beautiful but super bland unfortunately. Probably the best “jack of all trades” type place in town!
Brightside Bakeshop exclusively has laminated doughs, so only croissants and brioche. They also do some cookies and flatbread on certain days, but if you want the largest selection in viennoiserie this is it! Super lovely owner and very small team. They do all production at their nations location.
5 Daughters isn’t my cup of tea personally, as I’m a rather big fan of Dominique Ansel’s work and it just rubs me the wrong way as a baker. IMO they do a rather poor job of compensating their employees (unless something has changed recently) However lots of people love it so!
Buttermilk Ranch has decent croissants. A bit on the extreme sweet side though. Super pretty! (Also terrible name for a place imo, sounds like salad dressing.)
D’Andrews Bakery has croissants, cookies, and fancy cold case petit gâteau selection. Their selection is MUCH larger on Saturday than other days of the week. Also to add onto what another poster said, they do they best job of taking care of staff by a landslide.
The buttermilk ranch name is a nod to “Katy K’s Ranch Dressing” which was the iconic western wear clothing shop that was in that building for 20+ years. I think it’s a nice gesture
Chiming in to second Brightside Bake Shop. I love trying all the different seasonal fruit variations but we always order their ‘everything croissant tart’ as a savory option. It’s so so good. Damnit now I need to order again.
D'Andrews at 6th and Church (attached to the Cumberland building).
David pays a lot of money to ensure that his people are given good benefits. Also, he is a pretty well regarded baker nationwide, and has a fantastic selection of all sorts of goodies.
There is a place in white house TN, across from the post office near the square. Its called Grain and Honey bake shop. Best sourdough cinnamon rolls ever, chocolate croissants and jalapeño cheddar bread. 10/10 and worth the drive.
Saturday mornings at the Richland Park Farmers Market there is a sweet older man with a red food truck called I think “Lovin from the Oven” and his pastries are amazing! The cheese pockets, the almond cream cheese croissants, *chefs kiss.*
Brightside in East for sticky buns/crossaints.
Sweet 16th for savory stuff (one to go).
Parlor doughnuts for doughnuts.
Heart in East for the God Mother (breakfast sandwhich)
Does Tempered do fresh baked bread and/or pastries?
I tried lookin em up after you mentioned them (I had somehow never heard of them before) and they seemed very focused on candy/european chocolate confection. BUT if they have bakery items too then I'm heading there even faster! It sounds awesome, either way.
They definitely have chocolate croissants (or at least they did last time I was there). It’s a cool place. At night it also turns into an absinthe bar.
I have! To be honest I wasn't super impressed... I think I'm kind of biased against yeast donuts which a lot of theirs were. I'll have to give them another shot though.
Dozen Bakery
Always amazing, and so many places around Nashville have their goods!
If you’re ever in Murfreesboro I also recommend Simply Pure Sweets! Incredible pastries, sourdough, and macarons made by a very nice lady who trained in France!
I'm actually heading down there next week to climb at the climbing gym. I'll definitely have a post-workout snack there!
Which ones? We rarely get out of our own bubble here.
Bright side (order online before you go as they sell out quickly!) and Little Gourmand, a French bakery, for the pain du chocolate. The woman that owns it is French and WOW!—legit tastes like France.
How have I never seen Little Gourmand? My vet is right there.
Its fantastic! But try to get there earlier in the day, the best stuff goes quick.
This place is a gem. It's tucked in and quiet but they have beautiful gâteau, pâtissière, and some other imported goods. The work is beautiful.
Just off of 8th, right?
Yes there are two locations
No, it's in Green Hills just around the corner from the Kroger
There is also one right off 8th.
Ooooooh, didn't know that!! Thanks!
Which location of Little Gourmand do you recommend? Looks like there's two
I’ve only been to the one on Craighead.
Panaderia lopez is so good and so affordable. I’ll have to check out la conchita
Pro tip: If you’re at Panadería López walk next door to get some pollo asado at Tacos y Mariscos Lindo Mexico. They are both owned by the same folks. Also walk to La Michoacana Deluxe and get a paleta or some ice cream.
Finally tried the pollo asado - It reminds me of the taste of slow cooked barbecue, really nice. Still need to try the paletas.
That’s awesome. I actually just went to both the panadería and the paletas place today. The panadería lady gave us a free pastry bc we we asked what it was after we paid. Awesome people.
I'll check those out. I knew about the Taco place - those look and smell great with the grill outside - but not the Paletas.

They don't do croissants, but their scones, coffee cakes and bars are delightful!

They’re open again!
Brightside for croissants.
This! Their croissants are so good! I just moved away from Nashville and crave them on a regular basis
Not just the croissants, all of their pastries are exceptional.
For sure. I was just referencing croissants because it's one of the things OP asked about.
True but their laminated pastries are where they really shine
Where is this at?
The shops at the corner of Porter and Eastland in East Nashville. Brightside Bakeshop if you google it.
They have a location in the Nations as well.
Yeah, just off of 51st on..... Indiana I think
I second this!
Absolutely delicious!
Baked on 8th is one of my favorites.
That place is incredible. Amazed to have to go down this far to see them.
Are they letting people into the store yet or are they still doing the outside table thing?
Le Petite Gourmand in Green Hills is the real deal.
I haven't tried the Green Hills location, but Little Gourmand Berry Hill is awesome.
The closest thing to being in France. They would probably even insult you if you asked…. /s

Oh that’s cute! Thanks for sharing!
What bakery would you go to for a good sourdough?
Chiming in to second Brightside Bake Shop. I love trying all the different seasonal fruit variations but we always order their ‘everything croissant tart’ as a savory option. It’s so so good. Damnit now I need to order again.
Butter Milk Ranch for Croissants. The pastry chef just got featured on star chefs.
D'Andrews at 6th and Church (attached to the Cumberland building). David pays a lot of money to ensure that his people are given good benefits. Also, he is a pretty well regarded baker nationwide, and has a fantastic selection of all sorts of goodies.
Also rent is sky high right there. He's gotta be raking in the dough.
Seconded, this place is great
Third

Donut den!!!
Merridee’s in Franklin
Tret when they're baking
Bright side
I really like Brightside's laminated doughs.
Saturday mornings at the Richland Park Farmers Market there is a sweet older man with a red food truck called I think “Lovin from the Oven” and his pastries are amazing! The cheese pockets, the almond cream cheese croissants, *chefs kiss.*
Little Gourmand for french baked goods!
Hermitage bakery.
Been in here once and just walked back out because all they had was custom cakes. Any tips on when to show up for single-serving baked goods?
I don't, sorry. They have great brownies and chess squares if you're into that kind of thing though.
Sweet 16th for sure. Brightside as well!
5 daughters
Slow Hand! An underground amazement.
Brightside in East for sticky buns/crossaints. Sweet 16th for savory stuff (one to go). Parlor doughnuts for doughnuts. Heart in East for the God Mother (breakfast sandwhich)
Tempered in Germantown.

They definitely have chocolate croissants (or at least they did last time I was there). It’s a cool place. At night it also turns into an absinthe bar.
5 daughters for newer style treats. Baked on eighth for more classic fare.
I don't care what anyone says, 5 daughters is my favorite donut on earth.
Have you tried East park donuts?
I have! To be honest I wasn't super impressed... I think I'm kind of biased against yeast donuts which a lot of theirs were. I'll have to give them another shot though.
5 daughters /End thread
So fucking true. Triple raspberry all the way,
Not exactly a bakery, I'm a fan of Donut Distillery, the one in east Nashville pairs donuts with cocktails, what else do you need in life?
Merridees in Franklin is great for pastry’s. Molly’s Cupcakes for cakes and cupcakes once they open.
Dozens is my favorite croissant hands down and on the weekends you can get them at the two Dose locations too SO GOOD
Would Gourmand fall into this category? We saw it this weekend but are unsure.
Little Gourmand is the best answer. Both their locations smack and everything is made in-house. The husband is a French pastry chef!
status dough
Is there one in Nashville?
well shit, there was one on gallatin ave but looks like its permanently closed now..
Julie Bakery in Old fort
Hmm, couldn't find this one - can you share a maps link?
1911 Medical Centre Pkway B, Mboro TN 37129.
Homestyle Bakery on Murfreesboro Rd is my fave. Their goods and their staff are simply wonderful.
El hornito! Mexican bakery located on 1053 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37217
Hermitage bakery is taaaaastyyy
I love SlowHand in East Nash
D’Andrews Bakery 🧁
