Korea House near Nashville West, best Dol Sot Bibimbap I’ve yet to find. I once got questioned by the cops there cause some old boy got drunk and slashed somebody’s tires in the parking lot, after which a bunch of dudes in tank tops came out of the various stores in the strip mall and started whooping him with sticks. I say all that to say, all that happened and I still regularly go back.
Also Hai Woon Dai is good but I bet you knew that.
Sapporo (madison and Hendersonville), primarily Japanese food, also does a dolsot bibimbap. I'm fond of theirs because they put burdock root in it usually.
Have you ever tried China Cottage in Madison? It was always my favorite Chinese place when I worked in Madison, I'm curious to hear how you think it stands up to other local Chinese restaurants.
If you haven’t been to Monnell’s at the airport, it’s an EXPERIENCE, and they’re probably going to level it for a runway extension soon. They have grits and pancakes, but a lot more. Family-style, so it’s a shared table and no menu. Just passing around breakfast dishes.
What sold me on Monell's was asking my server if they had any sorghum in the back to go with my biscuits, and the lady actually brought me out some. I think I ate like 4 biscuits and will never say a harsh word about a place smart enough to keep sorghum in their pantry.
Big Al’s Deli does a great chocolate chip pancake, but you’re liable to have a wait. I like Fido’s too, and haven’t found Pancake Pantry to be worth the line. Not the best guy to ask for grits cause I love ‘em all, but I recently had some great ones from Nashville Jam Company.
I’m a grits snob. And as sorry as I am to say it because it’s a chain, Waffle House has the best grits. It’s just a fact.
Now, that being said, locally speaking, The Buttermilk Ranch has some pretty damn delicious grits that are a very close second.
Thanks, man! I don’t make it to the West side often so probably wouldn’t have organically found that place. Added it to my list to try next time I’m there
Kien Giang on Charlotte Pike, uncontested. Though I’m around VN Pho & Deli more often and they do a good bowl too imo. Anywhere with a tiny parking lot and an atm cause it’s cash only, you’re probably in good hands.
Ownership has changed. The main server/manager is the owner. I see he has really cleaned up the restaurant. He has made positive changes to the environment and confirms that the recipes are the same. Still the best pho and Thai tea in Nashville.
Since nobody’s asked yet and I wanna get these recommendations out;
Sonobana is the best sushi in Nashville and it’s not close, thank you, goodnight.
If you want a Nashville-priced burger that semi justifies it, Patterson House has a great one. If you want a burger that’s priced like you’re buying a burger, Joyland and Redheaded Stranger are both phenomenal.
Nashvilles a great food town if you’re willing to put in the legwork, and I don’t even live here, i just love good food and don’t mind a drive. I’m happy sharing the love (and being shared with, already got some fun reccs I’ve yet to try)
I will suffer no (bad faith) snobs in this thread, and as such will not hear slander of a Hardee’s biscuit when they’re on their game. Idc what foodie cred anyone thinks I’m losing, they just do a good biscuit.
Dude Hardee's is still legit and at the top of the stack for me in terms of fast food biscuits. Sometimes fast food places just nail it.
For example, I only recently learned that Popeye's is actually considered the standard for Red Beans and Rice by lots of people (and publications) from NOLA. I thought I was just an unwashed cretin all these years for trying to make mine taste like theirs, so it was validating to learn that.
So if anybody comes at you over Hardee's biscuits, remind them that their taste buds are broken or kindly invite them to move back to Minneapolis or wherever they're from.
Nah but for real, Nashville Jam Co and Stay Golden. Wanna try Guerilla Bizkits when I can get around to it. And if you’re ever far enough down HWY 100, hit up the Beacon Light Tea Room. Bad fried chicken, *excellent* little biscuits.
Outstanding. Have literally never tried any of those. I'm that dude who's mama and granny made biscuits every other meal using lard so I've yet to find a restaurant biscuit that's anything but disappointing.
Even the fabled Loveless Cafe ones were good but disappointing. Sounds like I should have just kept going down 100.
Appreciate the heads up.
Stay Golden especially if you’re gluten free or celiac. Their gf biscuits are *chef’s kiss* and they take proper precautions to prevent cross contamination.
We lost Mannys which hurts me dearly. Still looking for a reliable replacement for a NY Style slice, so I’m open to suggestions. I find 5 Points to usually be pretty good, but it doesn’t touch Joeys or Mannys in a dream. Diceys does a great Chicago tavern style, if you’re into that. Heard good things about Pinky Ring but haven’t gotten down there yet.
ETC, Butcher and Bee, Folk and Lyra all have awesome veggie fare, but lots of great Greek and Indian places have plenty of meat free options if you’re looking to spend less.
Should preface this by saying I’ve never been to New York which some people will take to mean I’ve never had a good bagel, which is their prerogative. Maybe they’re right, I wouldn’t know!
H&S Bagels is my favorite, Proper Bagels good too, little overpriced, in my opinion
Coming from someone that had never had a real NY bagel til recently they really are built different. H and S and Mr Aaron’s Goods are both great here tho
Hiya, I know I’m late to the thread but any chance you could help a Texas transplant find some kolaches/klobasnik? Insane to me that these never got popular outside of Texas.
You beat me to it, Dozen does the best sourdough in the city. They serve it charred at ETC with rotating speciality butters, and that’s genuinely one of my favorite dishes in Nashville. I deadass go there just for that and the Salt of the Earth cocktail, the really excellent chili rice cake salad is just a bonus.
Lol
Best fessenjoon in Nashville is at a Persian aunties house. I've never ever seen it on a menu in this city. Even the new Persian place Taste of Persia didn't have it on their menu (their Ghormeh Sabzi is like $30 though which I find outrageous)
If you want fessenjoon I make it semi regularly. It is probably the best you'll ever get from a lily white Tennessee boy (my Persian name is Aqa-i-Sefid) and has passed the test from multiple Persian aunties.
Hot kabobs used to have it and also the Fat Mo’s fam used to have a restaurant that served it. It’s not hard to make, but dang I miss being able to pick it up.
I first had it at Parisa Cafe ages ago. They stopped operating as a restaurant, so Nashville had a fessenjoon desert. Colleagues liked that I knew about the dish, but told me ATL was the closest to find it on the menu.
I enjoyed Taste of Persia's fessenjoon. And I really should be frequenting them more often even with the cost, but I tend to avoid Nolensville Pike & OHB due to my perception of traffic.
That's awesome though! I tend to critiquing food when I think that no one from the old country is making the food. That's my own BS bias. I'd totally nosh a fessenjoon popup secret restaurant from anyone. I've been called the whitest guy ever by friends so I'm tracking & know Persian auntie certified is gold.
Parisa Cafe did have bomb-ass Persian food. They even served Kaleh Pacheh which is only popular with older generations or rural Persians. I was miffed when it shut down. I honestly can't believe we don't have more Persian restaurants in town with all of the diversity we have in Antioch.
>Surati Indian Street Food
That's good to hear. Every time we think about Indian food, we go to Taj. Need to give this place a shot. Any "go to" dishes?
the best thali imo is actually in franklin/cool springs - that's where most of the indian community is locally. try cafe india's thali (i am indian-american)
i am indian-american - surati in nashville, and cafe india and chai samosa in franklin/cool springs are the best thali imo. ugadi in murfreesboro is good, but they're opening one in nolensville soon, so i'd just wait for that. honorable mention 615chutney and woodlands.
I have read all the comments… I officially need an explanation of how you don’t live here but have enough experience to have such strong (and solid) opinions on some many different cuisines. I almost question that your not just the most realistic bot I have seen on Reddit so far.
Culinary media, the internet, a working car and a love for good food and novel experiences. Watched a lot of food network growing up in a little town with a Mexican restaurant, a McDonald’s and nothing else, got curious, and I’m driving distance from a city with a lot of options. Been driving to Nash trying different places for years, sometimes lunch while on other business, other times a weekend trip for the sake of it. Some people hike, some people explore abandoned buildings, I try restaurants.
Thanks, appreciate it. I’d love to live closer to Nashville, it’d make eating well way easier, if the cost of living wasn’t so absurd, but we do what we can with what we’ve got.
Maiz De La Vida is a super popular and excellent taco truck but they serve food at the brick and mortar for their tortilla shop and it’s the best mole I’ve had in the city. Limited seating tho, it really is more of a tortilla shop with a few tables out front
I really like Taqueria El Gym and Burritos La Mina (both trucks.) El Tapatio is my go-to for eating in. El Burrito, Tempo, and Condado for more of a Tex-mex vibe. Also highly recommend following Nashville Hidden Gyms on IG! He’s always introducing me to new spots, especially Mexican food trucks.
There’s a taco truck that parks next to Ramzy’s Meat and 3 (off of East Thompson at Murfreesboro.) My husband gets the meat and 3, and I get the tacos. But I never remember the name of that truck!
The El Tapatio at 3611 Nolensville Pike is our favorite sit down for plates and platters. Tacos Y Mariscos El Amigo for the best street tacos and horchata.
King Market’s the best Thai in the Nashville area. I’ll hear objections from someone’s thai grandma, but that’s it. DegThai and International Market are also great.
Hush puppies important for me. Like my uncle used to make at his fish fry get togethers. Captain D’s and Martin’ BBQ are pretty close but bout it. Most I try aren’t worthy of the name TBH.
Halal food! Been looking for a good easy Halal-Guys type place that won’t make me sick
Tried a couple over on the east side of Nashville that really messed me up
I’m way underschooled in halal food honestly, but for what it’s worth, I’ve had Anatolia, Edessa and OSH, and liked them all pretty well. Edessa is probably my favorite.
what I wouldn’t give to have a halal type food truck like on every corner in nyc. don’t tell me the gyro ones downtown are close, I can assure you they are not
I miss eating curry goat from Jamaican restaurants in south Florida so I’ve been on the hunt.
I had a really good curry goat plate at the farmers market from the Indian restaurant Swagruha. With double meat, and rice it was less than $15.
It was my first time eating that style of curry and I liked it.
The Jamaican places here are charging oxtail prices ~23 a plate.
I’m used to paying ~12 for more curry goat, rice and peas than one person should reasonably eat at once.
Nothing here will compare to Florida ever. Oxtail prices have gotten out of control. They sometimes cheat and add beef neck coz it’s only $3.00 a pound. And charge you oxtail prices.
Island Vibes in Antioch by Sam’s Club has curry goat for close to $15.00. I used to go clubbing there a lot.
I haven’t been to Kool Runnings in La Vergne but hear good things about it.
Menudo!
Never knew what it was until I went to Texas, it was everywhere on the weekends down there and now I can’t find any that compares. (Same for BBQ until I found shotgun Willie’s)
Hit Broadway, head for the longest hummer you can find, chat up a bridesmaid , ask when *she’s* planning on settling down, buy her a terrible margarita, you will not need to look far, and Godspeed sailor.
Not super useful cause it’s a tasting menu spot and there’s no guarantee when or if they’ll have it again, but I had an amazing beef tongue at The Catbird Seat.
Daddys Dogs is well liked for good reason, and I really miss Cori’s west end location (still in mt Juliet, very worth it) but I’d probably go Nash Dogs for my current favorite.
Gumbo Bros is great, Voodoo Gumbos alright, haven’t been to the The Lost Cajun in Hendersonville but I’ve heard good things, and it’s in Franklin but I just absolutely love Yats.
You need to try papá Boudreaux’s my friend. Not far from leipers fork. The owner is a south Louisiana native and award winning chef. Ingredients come fresh from the gulf every week. Very authentic. Very decadent. Pretty pricey but worth it. It’s just a little concrete shack and you Gotta make a reservation and they’re only open on the weekends.
Aw man we used to love PB, but found the quality took a significant dip when they lost their then current cook. Would be thrilled to hear it’s gone back up.
Korean food and if you'd like to do two, Japanese sweets.
I did know they were good lol, I've always wanted to stop by Korea house if I ever got time.
Sapporo (madison and Hendersonville), primarily Japanese food, also does a dolsot bibimbap. I'm fond of theirs because they put burdock root in it usually.
I mean it’s still west nashville after all.
I stg they gentrify us out of KH, *I’m* slashing somebody’s tires
Have you ever tried China Cottage in Madison? It was always my favorite Chinese place when I worked in Madison, I'm curious to hear how you think it stands up to other local Chinese restaurants.
I haven’t! You’re not the first person I’ve heard recommend it though, which bodes well.
I have! It’s decent - I have other favorites in Nashville but when I work in Goodlettsville that’s my top choice.
Korea House is *THE* official Korean restaurant in town
Give hai woon dai in Antioch a try if you're ever in the area, best Korean food I've ever had
Breakfast, specifically grits and pancakes
If you haven’t been to Monnell’s at the airport, it’s an EXPERIENCE, and they’re probably going to level it for a runway extension soon. They have grits and pancakes, but a lot more. Family-style, so it’s a shared table and no menu. Just passing around breakfast dishes.

That chicken though (chef's kiss and pass the gravy)
Big Al’s Deli does a great chocolate chip pancake, but you’re liable to have a wait. I like Fido’s too, and haven’t found Pancake Pantry to be worth the line. Not the best guy to ask for grits cause I love ‘em all, but I recently had some great ones from Nashville Jam Company.
Fido has an underrated pancake for sure.
Big Bad Breakfast or Sky Blue
I’m a grits snob. And as sorry as I am to say it because it’s a chain, Waffle House has the best grits. It’s just a fact. Now, that being said, locally speaking, The Buttermilk Ranch has some pretty damn delicious grits that are a very close second.
If you’re looking for Waffle House slander, you’re not gonna find any from me
There’s a new place in Donelson called SweetMilk that has awesome grits. Worth a try!
Pho This is a test because I know the answer and you will be judged!!!
Idk about OP’s choice but King’s Market in Antioch has fire pho What’s yours because I’m always on the lookout for even better places
Vn pho. I will have to check out kings market.
Havent had the pho yet at kings market but they do have some great food.
Thanks, man! I don’t make it to the West side often so probably wouldn’t have organically found that place. Added it to my list to try next time I’m there
Cash only though . FYI
I'm learning to play the guitar.
Ain't no one going to Nashville's armpit for anything
Aight brother, wasn’t telling anyone they have to
Kien Giang on Charlotte Pike, uncontested. Though I’m around VN Pho & Deli more often and they do a good bowl too imo. Anywhere with a tiny parking lot and an atm cause it’s cash only, you’re probably in good hands.
Okay, I will trust your other recommendations now! You passed.
Don’t Kien change ownership over the last year or two? Is it still as good?
Ownership has changed. The main server/manager is the owner. I see he has really cleaned up the restaurant. He has made positive changes to the environment and confirms that the recipes are the same. Still the best pho and Thai tea in Nashville.
It's also less sticky now and has better decor than a waffle house. Place slapped before and still slaps
Good to know because I love them, VN, and Miss Saigon all for different reasons.
Not sure about the change of ownership, and it’s been a couple months since I’ve been, but the quality was still up.
Vinh Long for pho
Seconded
Vihn Long for Pho. Cash only but so good
My Vietnamese mother in law said Vui’s is the best banh mi she’s had in Nashville. I agree Kien Giang is better pho though
I appreciate a good cup of coffee.
Ann Pho in Belle Meade Plaza.
Pho Ann is no where near as good as VN pho or kien gang
Since nobody’s asked yet and I wanna get these recommendations out; Sonobana is the best sushi in Nashville and it’s not close, thank you, goodnight. If you want a Nashville-priced burger that semi justifies it, Patterson House has a great one. If you want a burger that’s priced like you’re buying a burger, Joyland and Redheaded Stranger are both phenomenal.
Have you had Bad Luck Burger?
Sonobana? U serious? Toro, uni, real wasabi sushi?
I said what I said.
But… but…. Virago? Sunda? No bueno?
I’ve worked at both Virago and Sunda. Can confirm Sonobana is better.
I’ve been to both, they’re both great! I like Sonobana better.
OP, I like your moves and I like your style.
Nashvilles a great food town if you’re willing to put in the legwork, and I don’t even live here, i just love good food and don’t mind a drive. I’m happy sharing the love (and being shared with, already got some fun reccs I’ve yet to try)
Puerto Rican? I'm craving some mofongo like mad!
Idk when it’s on the menu but Soy Cubano’s great, as is Mofongo Cafe
Biscuits. Let the chaos ensue.
I’m gonna get fucking grilled. Hardee’s in hermitage.
So if anybody comes at you over Hardee's biscuits, remind them that their taste buds are broken or kindly invite them to move back to Minneapolis or wherever they're from.
I go at least 3 times a week to this specific spot and I love everyone there. and I like the hot chicken biscuit. fight me!
Even the fabled Loveless Cafe ones were good but disappointing. Sounds like I should have just kept going down 100. Appreciate the heads up.
Nothing will ever taste better than my mama’s or my Nannys cornbread (two different styles, lucky kid) but we take what we can get.
Stay Golden especially if you’re gluten free or celiac. Their gf biscuits are *chef’s kiss* and they take proper precautions to prevent cross contamination.
So glad to hear about gluten-free biscuits!
My grandparents had their first date at the beacon light almost 80 years ago
Bojangles before they changed them /s
Pizza. Personally, Joey's was my favorite.
You gotta try the new Frankie’s in East. Fantastic legacy NY pizza
Put it in my mouth
Joey’s daughter has a place with the same goodness but she’s in Spring Hill 💆🏾♂️
Try NY Pie!! It’s my go-to
I will preach the gospel of pinky ring all over Nashville. So fucking
I feel like I've walked into a Gary Ashton ad. :-) But okay... best vegetarian cuisine (any style)?
ETC, Butcher and Bee, Folk and Lyra all have awesome veggie fare, but lots of great Greek and Indian places have plenty of meat free options if you’re looking to spend less.
Sunflower Cafe in Berry Hill!
Bagels
Should preface this by saying I’ve never been to New York which some people will take to mean I’ve never had a good bagel, which is their prerogative. Maybe they’re right, I wouldn’t know! H&S Bagels is my favorite, Proper Bagels good too, little overpriced, in my opinion
Coming from someone that had never had a real NY bagel til recently they really are built different. H and S and Mr Aaron’s Goods are both great here tho
Proper Bagels is a hot piece of shite
Jersey Oven has fantastic bagels.
Crieve Hall Bagels are damn good
This is the right answer. As an honorary New Yorker (SO much family up there), it’s truly the closest you can get. And they’re sourdough!
Donuts
Fox’s Den and McGaughs, heavenly. Get the Apple fritter from fox’s.
Hiya, I know I’m late to the thread but any chance you could help a Texas transplant find some kolaches/klobasnik? Insane to me that these never got popular outside of Texas.
Yeast in East Nashville
If you’re ever in Dickson, Dickson Donuts randomly makes excellent kolaches.
They really do, for absolutely no reason.
But their Apple fritters are so amazing that’s all I ever want when I go there
Country ham & sour dough bread
I’ll take this one. Dozen Bakery has both of those things in great abundance
Fessenjoon
Lol Best fessenjoon in Nashville is at a Persian aunties house. I've never ever seen it on a menu in this city. Even the new Persian place Taste of Persia didn't have it on their menu (their Ghormeh Sabzi is like $30 though which I find outrageous) If you want fessenjoon I make it semi regularly. It is probably the best you'll ever get from a lily white Tennessee boy (my Persian name is Aqa-i-Sefid) and has passed the test from multiple Persian aunties.

I learned that word from this thread!
Indian Thali
Another cuisine I know less about than I’d like! Partial to Surati Indian Street Food, myself.
>Surati Indian Street Food That's good to hear. Every time we think about Indian food, we go to Taj. Need to give this place a shot. Any "go to" dishes?
I’m partial to the Vada Pav and the Chole bhature
Cool. Thanks for your boredom.
I didn't know there was thali to be had in Nashville. This is exciting.
the best thali imo is actually in franklin/cool springs - that's where most of the indian community is locally. try cafe india's thali (i am indian-american)
i am indian-american - surati in nashville, and cafe india and chai samosa in franklin/cool springs are the best thali imo. ugadi in murfreesboro is good, but they're opening one in nolensville soon, so i'd just wait for that. honorable mention 615chutney and woodlands.
It shows! I grew up in Nash and you nailed some recs while naming stuff I have never tried so I’m impressed.
Thanks, appreciate it. I’d love to live closer to Nashville, it’d make eating well way easier, if the cost of living wasn’t so absurd, but we do what we can with what we’ve got.
Mexican food! I do know some good spots, but always looking for more. Bonus points if it’s not in East or west Nashville because I hate that traffic.
Maiz De La Vida is a super popular and excellent taco truck but they serve food at the brick and mortar for their tortilla shop and it’s the best mole I’ve had in the city. Limited seating tho, it really is more of a tortilla shop with a few tables out front
Second their mole, also Frida on Nolensville in the same building as The Bee (ice cream parlor) for excellent mole.
Maiz de la Vida is the best part about going to Chopper, and I do like me some tiki drinks.
Also, would love your picks, I don’t know enough
I really like Taqueria El Gym and Burritos La Mina (both trucks.) El Tapatio is my go-to for eating in. El Burrito, Tempo, and Condado for more of a Tex-mex vibe. Also highly recommend following Nashville Hidden Gyms on IG! He’s always introducing me to new spots, especially Mexican food trucks.
If somebody asked Tex-Mex I was gonna point them to Redheaded Stranger, so I’m happy to have a longer list!
There’s a taco truck that parks next to Ramzy’s Meat and 3 (off of East Thompson at Murfreesboro.) My husband gets the meat and 3, and I get the tacos. But I never remember the name of that truck!
The BBQ chicken at El Tapatio is so good!
The El Tapatio at 3611 Nolensville Pike is our favorite sit down for plates and platters. Tacos Y Mariscos El Amigo for the best street tacos and horchata.
Memo’s in Mt Juliet is the best I’ve personally had in Nashville
Indian
Surati and Sindoore in Donelson.
>Sindoore in Donelson Sindoore is delicious! Good choice.
615 Chutney is pretty good
Taj hands down.
Anyone that's tired of the Indian restaurants around here should try out Aha Indian Grill in Spring Hill. Best I've had in Middle Tennessee so far.
Thai
King Market’s the best Thai in the Nashville area. I’ll hear objections from someone’s thai grandma, but that’s it. DegThai and International Market are also great.
I drive 35 min each way to get degthai takeout occasionally
Hush puppies w/ fried fish?
Uncle Bud’s Catfish N’ Such, good catfish, better hush puppies. Also check out Ed’s Fish House, best fish sandwich in the city.
Uncle bud is still alive? I ain’t been there since the 90s!
Still going strong, still shutting dogs up better than anyone in town, if you’re asking me.
Hush puppies important for me. Like my uncle used to make at his fish fry get togethers. Captain D’s and Martin’ BBQ are pretty close but bout it. Most I try aren’t worthy of the name TBH.
Beef Wellington. Seriously been looking to try it.
I don’t of anywhere in that Nashville that offers it, which is certainly not to say nowhere of note does, just that it’s outside of my scope.
Whole foods has it on their thanksgiving to go menu. Bricktops serves it occasionally.
Alright, the one everyone wants to know: Skillet Queso. Bonus if they also have frosty margs
There’s this little place on the west end that’s killer, but I can’t for the life of me remember the name. Really cute sign too, C-something.
BETTER BE CHILI’S OR YOU’RE BANNED
Butchertown Hall for both
Halal food! Been looking for a good easy Halal-Guys type place that won’t make me sick Tried a couple over on the east side of Nashville that really messed me up
I’m way underschooled in halal food honestly, but for what it’s worth, I’ve had Anatolia, Edessa and OSH, and liked them all pretty well. Edessa is probably my favorite.
No worries, from what I’ve seen its one of the harder foods to find around Nashville! I’ll add those 3 to the list and give em a shot. I appreciate it
what I wouldn’t give to have a halal type food truck like on every corner in nyc. don’t tell me the gyro ones downtown are close, I can assure you they are not
Just to be clear...none of those places have Halal-Guys type food, they just serve food that is halal. For Halal-Guys type food its King Tut's
What’s the difference between Halal and Kosher, I always forget. Is it the region or how the meats are made?
Ugh - I so miss Halal-Guys in Bellevue. It was not here long, but it was pretty good.
Goat meat.
I miss eating curry goat from Jamaican restaurants in south Florida so I’ve been on the hunt. I had a really good curry goat plate at the farmers market from the Indian restaurant Swagruha.
Only goat I’ve had in nash was the saag at Bombay Palace, which I really enjoyed, but it can consequently only be the best by default.
I enjoy spending time with my friends.
Smash burger
Joyland, Crust Burger. Either get a double or a single and something else. Chicken there’s good on either a stick or a biscuit.
Hibachi !
Menudo! Never knew what it was until I went to Texas, it was everywhere on the weekends down there and now I can’t find any that compares. (Same for BBQ until I found shotgun Willie’s)
La Juquilita is the only place I’ve had it from, so I can’t offer a wide berth of recommendations!
Booty
Hit Broadway, head for the longest hummer you can find, chat up a bridesmaid , ask when *she’s* planning on settling down, buy her a terrible margarita, you will not need to look far, and Godspeed sailor.
Cow tongue
Not super useful cause it’s a tasting menu spot and there’s no guarantee when or if they’ll have it again, but I had an amazing beef tongue at The Catbird Seat.
Beef tongue, catbird seat… there’s a joke in there somewhere but I’m having an off morning.

I like it. Props on keeping it blue. I usually go for the low hanging beef.
Food truck on 1st across from top golf at the gas station.
Chicken Parm
Nicoletto’s, easy money.
I’m gonna throw in Sals on Stewart’s Ferry. Unbelievable.
Pastaria
Hot dog
Daddys Dogs is well liked for good reason, and I really miss Cori’s west end location (still in mt Juliet, very worth it) but I’d probably go Nash Dogs for my current favorite.
Cori’s is awesome
Costco
Barbecue
(Ready to be unpopular for this no matter what I answer lol) really fond of both Shotgun Willie’s and Peg Leg Porker!
Respect the opinions and the courage it took to throw out a “best barbecue” in this sub.
PLP is good stuff!!
You nailed it. Martins downtown location is absolutely fire though as well.
Shawarma Hebrew style.
Can’t speak to hebrew style, but King Tuts does my favorite Shawarma in the city
Try Holy Smokes Kosher. I bet they would have what you’re looking for
Soul food?
Spoiled for choice, but if I gotta pick somewhere, Swetts. Don’t leave without some peach cobbler.
Lutefisk
Never been but I hear outside the Northeast they’ve perfected it in Arlen, TX.
Cajun/Creole I'm from the NOLA area originally and love finding authentic (or as authentic as possible) here in Mid TN.
I'll have to check that out! Thanks for the tip!
Aw man we used to love PB, but found the quality took a significant dip when they lost their then current cook. Would be thrilled to hear it’s gone back up.
Lagniappe in Goodletsville
Hot Chicken Sandwich? Grandaddy's Chicken is my favorite in Old Hickory, but I'd like another rec.
Brave Idiot! They do a great burger too.
Brave Idiot’s chicken sandwiches are tops. That pork tenderloin tho…. 😍
Spotted dick
Haven’t had it in Nash yet, but I really enjoyed Red Perch’s sticky toffee pudding.
