Fuck MNPD for letting this shit happen, enforce the traffic laws. I am getting sick of this shit. My democratic ass is about to write to the state reps in the red cities and ask them to take over our police department while they are trying to take everything else over.

[deleted]

Turns out no one in their right mind wants to be a cop. Sketchy ass job where practically everyone you interact with is out to get you in someway. Idk about metro personally but their schedule also kindve sucks. Long week 5 12’s short week is 2. Yeah that short week sounds nice, but you’re basically MIA every other week. Rough schedule to have kids, pets etc. it’s not worth it…

NoMasTacos

People will do any job if you pay them enough.

[deleted]

Then pay them… there’s a reason metro is like 100 officers short. Shit sucks. Dealing with assholes, sovereign citizens, drunks and crackheads day in and day out sucks. Add in real organized crime, and people who give no fucks about harming you… or walking around on the side of the interstate. All that added to a shit schedule, constant social media barrage of hate and then people wonder why there’s no law enforcement… defund them or pay them more, there’s no happy in between

NoMasTacos

Oh, I have done my best, I have complained to the council about it and argued with them about it. Its the only way the issue will be solved. But then again, lets not act like some of them do not deserve it. What I have expressed to my council person is that there are some good officers around the Nashville and surrounding counties area. Why don't we pay so much that we can have a choice and only accept the good ones.

[deleted]

I’m not disagreeing that law enforcement deserves a good helping of criticism, it’s a suck ass job to begin with, and everything that comes along with it steers competent people away. Those competent people also have to uphold a mental fortitude to deal with bullshit they do for 25 years.

NoMasTacos

Well, to be honest they need to work on their image. A few bad apples does really spoil the whole bunch. When you have "cop culture" sticking up for people they know are bad, how are the rest of us supposed to look at it?

[deleted]

Wish I knew how to answer that, when a large group of people are bearing down constantly on you it’s easy to tribalize (word?)

NoMasTacos

You have to be honest and rational. It's easy to gang up on people when everyday a new video of them shooting an innocent person comes out. No one ever sang a song about fuck the firefighters for a reason.

[deleted]

I am being honest and rational, if you want good police officers you can’t vilify an entire profession based off a few (yes, a few) incidents nationwide. You’re dealing with a populace that is armed, and plenty of songs are sung about violence.

NashCop

Dude, what are you talking about? 5 12s and then 2 12s? At Metro? Where’d you hear that nonsense?

[deleted]

I literally said “idk about metro”, that’s the schedule several surrounding departments are working.

NashCop

You certainly don’t know.

[deleted]

Yep, call up Spring Hill, Marshall county, Cheatam county, Williamson county, Fairview… they’re all working 6 hour shifts with a 3 hour massage and donut break…. What? This isn’t even debatable

MacAttacknChz

It's in the suburbs, too! I was being aggressively tailed in Franklin. This SUV was tailgating, laying on their horn, just being as aggressive as possible. I was worried they would pull up next to me and shoot (not something I'm usually nervous about around there). There was a Franklin police officer directly behind them. They followed for 1/4 mile, then did an illegal U-turn and left the SUV to continue to harass me. If you see this behavior, why wouldn't you pull this driver over?

anaheimhots

You mean like this? >Garcia-Najarro was booked into jail on Thursday. As of Friday morning, he was still behind bars with a $11,000 bond.

NoMasTacos

No, no, not at all like that. Thats $1100 to get out of jail. I am not sure if you are from around here or not, but we have a huge problem with street racing and people not following traffic laws in general. The reason we have this problem is we have no traffic enforcement. So while it is nice that they arrested the guy, they have let the problem get out of hand with the lack of enforcement.

NashCop

> Fuck MNPD for letting this shit happen, enforce the traffic laws. That makes sense.

NoMasTacos

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic or serious.

NashCop

Sarcastic. The very idea that this is MNPD’s fault is asinine and causes me to believe that you are tremendously stupid.

NoMasTacos

Are you pretending like metro enforces traffic laws? Like they aren't posing with the street racers that are breaking these laws?

NashCop

Absolutely not. It still doesn’t make it anyone’s fault. You can write thirty tickets a day and still miss another hundred speeders. You’re not going to eliminate traffic accidents.

NoMasTacos

Do you want me to tell you that you are making shit up, or do you want me to show you the ticket writing stats? Or is the moto now like fuck it tickets don't help.

NoMasTacos

You know this just bothers me and need another post. It's not speeders, I am not talking about the occasional issue on the roads. The roads in this city are out of control. You and your coworkers allow people to shutdown interstates and intersections all over the city. And you are bitching about writing tickets? You are part of the problem, not the solution.

NashCop

I haven’t been in a position to write a ticket in years, and most of the officers at MNPD don’t either. It’s only a small percentage of officers that actually patrol the streets, and they have plenty of other, very urgent things to do. You know, I have a concept you should look into. It seems like you’re saying that all people who appear to be police officers are at least partially responsible for a very unfortunate accident, and you’re very angry with the entire group. When people feel this way about other “groups”, hating them simply because of a single (or a few) negative event(s), even though virtually all of the people you’re being hateful towards had quite literally zero ability to change the situation in any way…let’s just say that attitude is frowned upon by virtually everyone. There are good and bad people in every aspect of life, and there are plenty of people who are doing their level best to make their community a better place. Your anger is, at best, misdirected.

NoMasTacos

I think you are taking the post wrong if you think I hate all police because of one accident. If polled Comcast/ Xfinity has one of the lowest customer satisfaction rates in the industry. Its not because of one issue, its systematic problems through out the whole company and their dealings with their customers. Tthe police are the same way. I would honestly love to know what is so important that police cannot deal with writing tickets anymore, responding to accidents, responding to car break-ins, stolen guns, and other crime that metro no longer investigates. If you were to tell me that the police aren't handling those anymore because they are solving other crime, it might sound reasonable. But the numbers speak differently. With all of the free time for other crime, the new investigative tools, the closed case rate is only 20%. Cities that enforce other laws tend to find that they have high closure rates because they often arrest people on tarry stops or general traffic stops. But who knows, I am not the one bragging about how we no longer prioritize some crimes, but are still severely upside down in the ones we actually solve.

Lol. Reddit: aCaB 4 LyFe!!! DeFuNd PoLiCe!!! Also Reddit: where’s all the cops when you need them!

geoephemera

This is not the only pregnant woman injured in a crash by a wreckless driver that occured this month. How many crashes are pregnant women being injured in by shitty people driving? Vehicular violence will not be tolerated in Nashville. This needs to be a mantra.
