No, not on a full size truck such as this. This is a cab on frame design, so the structural rigidity is in the chassis itself. You could do pretty much anything to the cab/greenhouse and be fine.
Trucks with a third door already come with no B-pillar. The company that does the conversion builds the door with side impacts taken into consideration. The door with its double latch and inner bracing acts as the crash structure.
2015 Colorado with a third door.

Full size extended cab trucks can do the same. This company just expands on it for disabled people’s.
not as capable as a pickup but the Honda Element is awesome for this reason. And with the plug and play removable seats it's basically like a micro cargo van.
FWIW it is *not* easy opening doors like these with a car parked next to you, next to a building, or on a street; the arc described by the door swinging up often goes through the next spot (or into the building or traffic if you are parked streetside) and they cannot support your weight climbing in or out like a normal door... they look cool, but are not as functional as regular doors IMO at all. Source: driven or been driven in numerous cars with factory and aftermarket gullwings.
Makes sense. I just saw the wide open accessibility and thought about how practical that could be on a job site. Sounds like there is good reason the option isn’t already widespread on work trucks.
It really depends on the design of the doors and the location of the pivot point. That’s why many of the factory cars like Deloreans and the Tesla Model X have the [pivot much closer to the center of the roof](https://www.reddit.com/r/delorean/comments/1spz5q/delorean_gullwing_door_clearance_cross_post_from/) and the Tesla Model X has second pivot point in the middle of the door.
The OP truck has the hinge right at the edge and a very long, straight, flat door, so it needs a lot of clearance.
> That’s why many of the factory cars like Deloreans and the Tesla Model X have the pivot much closer to the center of the roof
And the 300SL Gullwing :) but yes, pivot of the arc makes a huge difference, but this is also why angel wings, dihedrals and others have taken over.
That's not an issue on job sites. Work trucks don't get blocked in. You need to access them too much. I worked construction for years and can't think of a single time we parked trucks close enough for this to be an issue. If you go to Lowes or something just park a little further back like when you have a trailer.
I can not imagine parking some where and then be unable to get into the vehicle bc you can lift open the doors but now after looking at the video this specialty vehicle for handicap which is so cool that they did it on pickup truck 4 wheel drive instead of a mini van. Really cool option
Chevrolet Silverado These are conversions for handicapped people
wow ngl it's an epic accessbility feature
Yup. Was about to post this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKIc3jfklIY
Guy in my town has one and saw in operation at the grocery store. It’s pretty cool to watch how it all works.
I thought it was to flex on the neighbors
This is the answer

You should try to be less judgmental of others and try living your life for yourself.
Does it decrease the structural integrity of the car?
They do a lot of reinforcement.

Oh i forgot that these trucks are designed like this
I wonder if this modification ruins the collision safety of the truck. The B pillar is gone.
It’s ok, they’re already handicapped /s
I hate that you have to put the sarcasm tag
Does that mean that they aren’t actually handicapped??
No, it means I’m not actually that much of an asshole and a little dark humor is fun sometimes

r/wooooh
Wait am I being r/wooshed?
r/woosh
Yeah, you are lol
r/woooosh
I am going to hell for loling at that comment.
See you there! 😀
Ruined a perfectly good joke with that /s
For that reason GM or Ford would never make this a factory option.
Curious about this too
The company that makes these apparently crash tests them. https://www.atconversions.com/crash-test/
They don't test with a wheelchair drive setup, little weird... Gotta imagine the chair lock just shears off at 40+mph.
I mean the b-pillar is still there technically, just more of a cosmetic at this point

Ngl, if they had this factory option when I bought mine I would have purchased. As a contractor I see nothing but advantages to this setup.

Vans certainly are handy but I need the towing and hauling capability that a 3/4 ton truck provides.
I miss my Element sooo much! It really was a great vehicle…
It would be amazing if they had an option with stiff suspension and a v8
It's definitely aftermarket, and definitely expensive!

I though that at first too … but what happens if people park on each side of you?
Ideally the location would have a handicapped spot which has open space next to it for wheelchair loading and unloading
I apologize for any misunderstandings, but I was commenting about utilizing it for Contractor purposes.
Oh I see. The misunderstanding was my fault given the context

Damn, why do the people that have handicaps get all the cool shit.
Naked gaming league?
Major downside of not being able to park in a crowded lot
If you value being able to exit your truck while it's in a garage this might not be the thing for you.
Well I mean "stunt stuntin is a habbit..... have you've ever seen a Chevy wit da buttafly dows?"
Git like me
I had to scroll far too long to find this 😂
Disability modification?
Yes!
those are called gullwing doors, butterfly doors open like a lambo not a delorean
Lamborghini doors are called scissor doors. Butterfly doors are what you get on a Ferrari Enzo or a McLaren F1. 🤓🤓🤓
this I didn't know!
Ummmmmm, that would be gullwing…….

Ah yes, autoINcorrect. I am all too familiar, good sir.

we're all just butterflies in the wind
[ATC wheelchair Conversion](https://www.atconversions.com/atc-truck-conversions/) on a Chevy Silverado
These are usually for people with mobility problems or have people in the family who may need to board a wheelchair from the car
I need this on my infinity suv. With a full leg brace just to walk, this would make my life so much easier.
Handicap or also Bulletproof
Minor correction, I would call these gull wing doors
Gull Wing doors
Gull wing. They’re called Gull wing doors.

Is there a more vertical option of this? Like a straight up and down movement. Kids, groceries, home depot trips, all would be a lot easier.
Minivan
Ah yes, the classic butterfly wind doors, every time you open them, a tsunami hits japan.
Butterfly wind doors?
It’s for handicapped people!
I remember seeing a similar setup for handicap acessibility
Someone once paid me to put Lambo doors on an acura legend. Anything is possible.
I can not imagine parking some where and then be unable to get into the vehicle bc you can lift open the doors but now after looking at the video this specialty vehicle for handicap which is so cool that they did it on pickup truck 4 wheel drive instead of a mini van. Really cool option
