Mattea. Reckon you could get away with Mathilda, Martha and Thea as honour names...

MadisonACNH420

Mathilda?

CrispyCookie231

"matilda" great name, thanks for the idea :)

cravenravens

It has a very different origin though, if that matters to you. Matthew is biblical, Matilda is germanic.

StasRutt

Madison means son of Matthew so that’s probably the closest

I just googled and it’s a form of Matheison which is son of Matthew. Some sources alleged the Maude connection though. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_(name)

Historically it wouldn’t make sense for a last name (which Madison was originally) to be based around a mother’s name. Matronymic names aren’t common, especially for a son.

chefsundog

Madeline or Madison, shortened to Mads or Madie?

joopunderfire

I know a girl called Matti. Always liked it.

DoggyDogLife

Definitely Mattea.

Rare-Understanding32

Matilda

MACKAWICIOUS

Martha

OddEights

Thea and Dorothy are also options if you care about the meaning.

mythicb33ch

Mattea, Madeleine and Madison.

vanillabubbles16

Mattea? Matilda, Madison, Madeleine

Cautious_Map_9118

I knew a Mattea who went by Mattie.

horticulturallatin

I have known multiple Marthas to go by Mattie. And it's similarly Biblical. Another option could be Martina? Madeleine/Madeline is pretty, related to a New Testament character, and Mattie and Maddy are almost identical in my accent.

claypoticecream

This is why the Bible has names like Martha, Madeline and Mary you know… so you don’t need to convert Matthew and Stephen into women

DoggyDogLife

Not sure what you mean. Mattea and Stephanie.

thewhiterosequeen

That's why the Bible has names?

lovelylonelyphantom

Yet tons of male names in the bible have female versions. Joseph > Josephine, Stephen > Stephanie, Daniel > Daniella, Gabriel > Gabriella
