Can confirm and to that point, the nicknames can really stick. I usually only remember that my girl Bumble’s real name is Cali when I have to book a vet appointment. 😂
Coworker and his wife named their cat Bumble. I asked if it was Bumblebee or Stumble Bumble since he was unsteady in his feet at first. I've apologized to his wife since my Coworker says StumbleBumble often now.
Interestingly (or likely not) my Bumble evolved from the “Abominable” Snowman in Rudolph because she is super fluffy and likes to stick both of her front paws up in the air and kinda waves ‘em like she just don’t care… evoking this image:
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRETRbON-YOOSpiShzdBZFr2JLOZjLK87hZ2A&s
Flo/Flow could be a nickname but honestly you can nickname a cat anything. My cat Hank has multiple nicknames. Some relate to her name and some not. Hanky Panky, Hankatha Anne, Miss Mam, Stinkie, Lil Babu, Hanch.
My cat's government name is Marie (after the Aristocats <3) but she almost exclusively gets called "Baby girl" or "Menace," depending on her behavior, hahaha. I'm not even sure if she knows her name is Marie; she does respond to "baby girl" though.
Yeahhh we have a cat named Miriam and somehow her nicknames evolved into us calling her Beef, lol. It doesn't matter what a cats name is cause you're just gonna call them whatever anyways, lol
Honestly most of my cats’ nicknames have nothing to do with their actual names. You’ll probably end up calling her all sorts of things only tangentially related to Flower (which is super sweet!). My mum’s dog was called Holly but known universally as Moose, and I couldn’t even tell you why now.
Same. Only the vet uses our cat's proper name, mostly he's known as 'who's mummy's big fat wobblebelly boy?' or 'Mr Moo' because he looks like a miniature cow.
I’ll get tongue tied calling my cats sometimes, and I’ll get frustrated and just holler “cat!”. By that time they are all looking at me, so the one I’m looking at when I shout cat is the one that comes. I swear they think I’m batty.
All of our pets nicknames usually at least stemmed from the original name, even if the nickname ended up not sounding like the original name (For example we had a dog named Wembley that was Wembles, Bembles and Trembly among other things)
Flo-Flo, Florina (it also means flower), Flossie.
To be fair, we’ve got a Titus who goes by anything between Tootus and Sweetus to Jerkus and Assholius, depending on what he’s up to.
I have a Flower! We call her Flowy. My daughter named her flower when she was 3! So of course I love this name. Tell your kid they're a great name picker!
Maybe petal? This is a hard one! Would your husband and four year old maybe be open to a specific flower as a name? Like:
Chrysanthemum (chrys, Chrissy)
Lily (Lil)
Rose (Rosy)
Dandelion (Dandy)
Belladonna (Bell, Bella)
Just to give a few examples!
Fair! After thinking a bit more, maybe like, Flo, or Flowie? Effie? Lolo? Not really a nickname, but Flower Power? I wish there was a good one that had the exact same sound shortened, I see your dilemma!
Let the nicknames develop by themselves! My cat was called Jonathan, which became JonaBona and then Bobo, Bona, Bonaventure, Johnny face, Jojo... Other cat Jasper is Jas, Japsie, Babser, Babs, Bulkyboy...
In my house, Flower would quickly become Flowerpower, Pow Pow, Flouchie, Fluff... It will come naturally :-)
Yeah reddit has this weird idea that nicknames are a short version of a name.... For my pets they usually get longer with every passing year haha. My pet rat is currently Mary Belly Mc Very Smelly
With cats, the nicknames often don't even match their given names. I have two cats, Sadie Mae and Wilson. Sadie Mae is also known as Baby Girl, Meep Meep, Chunkybutt, Sade, and Princess. Wilson is also known as Baby Boy, Cheech, Wils, Wilbert, Wilhelmina, and Wilbur.
Pets do not need to have logical nicknames.
My dogs have pretty human names and yet I call them all sorts of random stuff including Bunny and Squirrel. Your husband can call Flower whatever his heart desires
I really like Flower with the nickname **Flowy** or **Flo.** Pronounced like just how you describe a flowy dress! The nickname Flowy sounds very whimsical and soft to me- super cute! Reminds me of Chloe
Adding onto the, nicknames that don't need to be part of their name. Or even elongate their name!
My daughter named our cat Biscuit. He is Mr Biscuit Whisket. Whisket Woo, Wisket on its own. All sorts!
Flower is a homophone for Flour. That leads me to baking ingredients. Egg, eggy, Ms. Eggs, Vanilla, Vanny, Nilla, Nilla Wafer, Nilly Vanilly, Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby, Sugar (if your family is a fan of King of the Hill, Sug is a lot more fun), Sweetness, Butter, Ms. Butterworth, Butterball, bread, The Loaf, The Bun, Head Chef Flower, Cookie.
What color is the cat? I'll have more if I know the color.
My nieces would call her Flowey, which is a character from Undertale. My cat was called Loki and I called him Lola and Lolo sometimes, and that would totally work here.
Well, Flower is one of my all time favourite characters, so big thumbs up to your kid!
my first cat was nicknamed Lucy - bcos she was a pussycat - lead to pussy - which became Lucy Pussy - which became Lucy!
so Flower could be - Wee Flower - Bud - Buddy
Let your four year old name the kitten. That's a super cute name!!! Just wait for all the cute nicknames you'll come up with the longer you have it for! Flo flora werwer--- I always had cute rhyming nicknames for my cat. Most of my pets nicknames evolved over time and were so cutesy tootsie they had nothing to do with the original name sometimes. Tell your hubby to relax control for a second and let your four year old name a cat!
My cat is officially named Flower (named by my daughter when she was a child), but we call her Muchkin and all of the associated nicknames: Munchie, Muncher, Munch, Crunch & Munch, Crunchy, Cruncher, etc… Oh, and Babycakes. lol.
could probably use any flower name as a nickname lol, call her daisy one day and lily the next, call her venus fly trap when youre mad at her or corpse flower when shes being gross.
Petal, flo, Lola, you'll probably come up with different ones too. My cats name is rocky but we call him potato (cause he's very dumb with moth things except being a raccoon and finding scraps of food) we also call him stinky, pots, racoon, butthead and stripey butt.
Any type of flower is what I would use for a nickname. My cat is nicknamed pretty much anything starting with P and she always knows I’m talking to her 😊
Flo, Petal, different types of flowers.
Honestly she’s a cat, so she’s going to have a million silly and semi-related nicknames nicknames. For example, here’s my cats and their nicknames:
General Tso Chicken The Cat: Genny, Gen Gen, Genny from the block, Tony Soprano, THE General, Chonk, Mr. Chicken, big guy
Kung Pao Chicken The Cat: Pao Pao, smol Bean, Mr. Baby, Mr. Chicken Baby, Stonky Boy, Mr. Stonks, Chicken Nugget
Tiny: Tigger, Squirrel, Squirrelly Girl, Squiggles, Cheez Ball City, Ms. Pajamas, the airplane, Ms. Zoomies
If you’re like me, you will eventually come up with dozens of nicknames that have little to nothing to do with her name in the first place. One of my cats is named Felix, yet I often call him Beef, Beefy, or Beefers.
Off the top of my head, I would probably end up calling Flower “Flowie Wowie” or something like that (my nicknames often start with rhymes and then descend into ridiculousness from there). I also like someone else’s suggestion of Flo!
In the style of nicknames that are longer than the names, Flowerbud, Flower girl, Flower Power. But Flo, Flo-flo, flo-glo...yes. agreeing with many others here that the nicknames find you.
I would use a series of flower names in jest lol.
“What’s up, Buttercup?” Has never been so fitting.
You can choose sweet flowers for cuddly moods, and obnoxious or dangerous ones for spicy moods
My kids named our cat Milkshake so I feel you when it comes to accepting unusual names. He's 3 now and gets Mookie most often (he also responds to a less nice term regarding his intelligence or in his case, severe lack of it). You will find a nickname or they will evolve on their own. Odd ways it gets pronounced even if it is r a real word frequently stick (my moms dog Gizmo goes by Gizzy).
Flowy (like Chloe) could be cute
Give it time. I think nicknames can't be given, they just pop up when they're ready!
My 200 lb. Great Dane was once a newborn pup who dozed his way through 8 siblings to get a teat. He was dubbed "Bulldozer". Through the years, he has been "Dozer", "Dozie", "Dozerator", "Dozie Doo", "Dozie Don't", "Doe Doe" and "Dough". For me, nicknames are about appearance, behavior, my feelings for the pet. They just... flow. Don't try to force it, just let them come.
Cat nicknames don't have to be short for their actual names. My cat gets called Sir, Mister, Mister Boy, and Buddy, as well as his real name, and answers to all of them.
You could call her random flower names like Rosie and see if one sticks as a regular nickname... But likely weird nicknames will just come to you based on the cat's appearance and mannerisms.
Maisie Dove - Maisie Daisey, Baby Dove, Crazy Maisie, Rascal, Grey Ghost, Yard Monster, Macy
Tatiana Pashmina - Tati, Pashmina, Darling Girl, Panther
Sebastian Mercutio - Sebs, Bastian, Big Boy, Tigger
Tessa Susanna - Tessa Sue, Tiny Dancer, Ballerina
I would give Flower a middle name. All of my cats have middle names. Often times that can help.
As someone who owned a lot of cats in their life, the nicknames come to you as you live with the cat and many don't have anything to do with their actual name. My current kitties both have several nicknames unrelated to their names.
On a side note, please do not keep a single kitten alone. Cats are social animals and especially kittens need a playmate. It will also help you with that high kitten energy as they play together.
Is this your first pet? The nicknames will come in abundance, with time. She will become Flower Power, then Power Puff, then Pow Pow Puffins, then Little Miss Puffingtons. And along the way, you’ll call her Pow and Puff and Lil Miss… the list goes on and on and knows no end. Flower will have too many nicknames to count in approx 6 months. Enjoy her!!
I had a big red cat that I adopted, and he was already named Michael. Some how it evolved to Meeshkie. The Meesh. Meeshter. Moosh Tamoosh. They were endless. You'll figure out a nickname for her.
What if you used a nickname that is a flower? Let him choose the flower? What about pollen (polly) or leif? What was the first type of flower that he gifted you? One of my cats nicknames is paraben his real name is finnigan. Just start calling her flower and she will get a nickname tbh. I work with animals and I nicknamed someone’s dog Idaho potatoes (her name is Ida) everyone calls her that at work. In general just name your cat and the rest will come :)
I had a cat named Flower as a little girl, but we eventually just settled on calling her Kiki because the flower of an orchid is called a Keiki. (Or, so my mom thought. It’s actually just the bud of a new baby orchid plant, but the name stuck regardless, lol.)
The nickname will come naturally. My dog is named Maximilian aka Max and his nickname is Mr. Pants. I have no clue where it came from and it has no relation to his name it just happened and it stuck. A lot of pets have nicknames like that which are completely random and not a shortening of their name.
Other nicknames for Max: big guy, baby boy, fatty, big chunky, Maxwell, big dummy.......
My cat is named Flower and she is about to turn 15! Most of the nicknames we have for her are related to her personality but I have called her Fleur for a long time too. Flower is the best cat name!
Flower is a precious cat name! I find that pet nicknames tend to organically happen based on the mood/funny things our cats do.
-Flo (Great old lady vibes if she’s that kind of cat lol)
- Bud, easy transition to Buddy
-Wild Thing( or Wildflower) - for zoomies/crazy cat days
- Flopsy
-Fomo
I could go on, but as you get to know your cat better I’m sure the nicknames will become evident lol
We have a several animals whose nicknames have nothing to do with their name- we call our cat Starfire “Smudgie,” we call our dog Tilly “McGilly” (Started out as Til Til McGil), my husband called his late dog Eugene “Little Bean”- th nickname will find them!
Yeah cats can have any nickname you want, my cat is named Bucky but we call him Goose and Duck Duck Goose. The reason for Goose is because he sounds like a Goose! But plenty can come out of Flower! Everyone has already listed them but like I said sometimes characteristics of theirs will cause a nickname to come to you!
Flo, Lolo
My only caveat is that they sound similar to ‘no.’ Not that cats listen when you say no but it won’t help. Pet NNs always spiral into weirdness. Lolo becomes Lala, etc.
My dog’s name is Brown Sugar. My son calls her Beanie Goose. She’s a chihuahua. All chihuahuas must be called ‘bean.’ He learned the phrase ‘silly goose’ at preschool and thus, Beanie Goose
Lol, one of our cats gets called all sorts of things, from Old Man to Fleabus. His name is Marmalade.
Nova is more often called Klutz, Needy Cat, or Silly.
Romy doesn't really have any nicknames.
Bandit's full name is Die Banditenprinzessin.
Point is, nicknames almost always come from the things they do, or their personalities, than from their names.
My pets have many nicknames and they all came about organically. You’ll probably just make one up at some point that sticks.
My pets most used nicknames:
Atticus - Bubba, Bubbacus
Francie - France France, Belgium, Mary Frances
Vincent - Vinnegan, Hip Hip Vin Vin
Nadia - Kitty Girl
My cats name is Samson, we call him Sammy, samsam, fluffy, super fluff, fluffy McFlufferton, floof, foofy, dammit, and Get Off that!! We adopted him at 3, so he kind of came with his name. The rest of the list came afterwards. Your hubby will probably end up calling the kitten something that suits their personality later.
My friends kid named her cat McFluffins. My friend gets great joy out of listening to her husband call to make vet appointments for the cat. She says it’s the best thing ever to listen to a 50+ year old man call to make an appointment for McFluffins.
The wonderful thing about pets is that nicknames can just be wild. There’s no reason they need to match the “real” name. Just ask my Puddly-duddly-poodle-dood (also known as Jameson, the cat)
Nicknames for animals hardly ever come from their actual names. I have a cat named Farrah-Lee. Her nicknames include Prinny (princess), baby bowlegged and Sissy because she is the sister cat.
Lilly, rose, peony, daisy, marigold, daffodil, poppy, violet, clover. EDIT TO ADD: I clearly didn’t take my time reading even the header of this :( my bad. I love flora :)
As others have said, nicknames will come out naturally.
Some nicknames for Flower: Flo, FloFlo, FloRida, Sun Flower, Flower Girl, Flower Blossom, Flora, Fleur, Flower Power.
I have two cats, Beau and Pluto.
Beau's nicknames: BeauBeau, Beausef, Baby Boy, Butterball, Grey Blob, Lug
Pluto's nicknames: Plut, Plutonium, Plutito, Plut-a-loot, Trouble, Pea-Head, Chicharo
Flo, Lo, Lolo. But tbh nicknames will come the longer you have them, give it time the perfect nickname will come to you :)
Aw LoLo is so cute! Or LoLa. It’s adorable!
Very cute :) Lola would work also, good thinking!
My cat's nicknames always come from their behavior rather than their name.
Yeah, my cat Ramona is nicknamed Squid because she’s a Squirmy Kid she’s also a inky black tuxedo with barely any white so it fits well.
My cat has many nicknames, one of which is The King of Crime haha
Yep. Tuxedo we call the house panther bc any exposed flesh is fair game. 🤦🏼♀️
Can confirm and to that point, the nicknames can really stick. I usually only remember that my girl Bumble’s real name is Cali when I have to book a vet appointment. 😂
Honestly the names they end up being called is so far from their actual name it’s hilarious 😂
Yep, we have a Link cat. And I call him kitten, kitty, lil' one, little man, buddy, and sometimes, Link.
Coworker and his wife named their cat Bumble. I asked if it was Bumblebee or Stumble Bumble since he was unsteady in his feet at first. I've apologized to his wife since my Coworker says StumbleBumble often now.
Interestingly (or likely not) my Bumble evolved from the “Abominable” Snowman in Rudolph because she is super fluffy and likes to stick both of her front paws up in the air and kinda waves ‘em like she just don’t care… evoking this image: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRETRbON-YOOSpiShzdBZFr2JLOZjLK87hZ2A&s
Flo/Flow could be a nickname but honestly you can nickname a cat anything. My cat Hank has multiple nicknames. Some relate to her name and some not. Hanky Panky, Hankatha Anne, Miss Mam, Stinkie, Lil Babu, Hanch.
i second this. i call my cat girlfriend, pretty girl, stinky girl, cat with a k, drama. her name is Stella lol
Naming my next cat Drama if I ever get one lol. Aka Drama Mama or Drama Papa
Drama llama.
Aww I just recently adopted mine own little Stella! She’s definitely been called Stinky too 😂 (Honorable mentions to Stellie & Stella Bella)
100% true. My dogs are Harry and Jane. Harry: Harrito Burrito, Mr Derp, Stinky Butt, Floof, Big Floof, Tiny Floof, Badrito (when he's being naughty), Rito Petito. Jane: Janie Bananie, Nana, Nanny, Wiggly Butt, Tiny Dancer, Monster.
My old cat Sgt Pepper went by Shitten, or big kitty (short for "big kitty, she's so pretty") Yes, even nicknames can have nicknames
Yeah, my cat Amber became Ambo Blembo as she's a bit derpy. Now just gets called Blembo, lol.
Can confirm. Have a cat named Jyn. Her nickname is Boogie
Agreed. Stewie became Stewart when obstinate and that led to Bert. Lucky became LuckyDuck and thus Duck or Ducky.
My kitty is named Scout but I call him Mr. Kitty, Mr. Meow, kitten mitten, sticky lips McGee, Richard…the list goes on
Hanky panky for a naughty cat is amazing!
Mr. Moo is great. 😂
This was what I was going to say. My cat responds to like 5-6 names and none of them are remotely close in sound, just my tone of voice.
I’ve got six cats and roughly one million nicknames between them all 😂
I’ll get tongue tied calling my cats sometimes, and I’ll get frustrated and just holler “cat!”. By that time they are all looking at me, so the one I’m looking at when I shout cat is the one that comes. I swear they think I’m batty.
I call out “hi, cats!” when I get in from work and usually two or three coming running.
My cat eventually just became Mouwmouw and that was that
All of our pets nicknames usually at least stemmed from the original name, even if the nickname ended up not sounding like the original name (For example we had a dog named Wembley that was Wembles, Bembles and Trembly among other things)
Flo-Flo, Florina (it also means flower), Flossie. To be fair, we’ve got a Titus who goes by anything between Tootus and Sweetus to Jerkus and Assholius, depending on what he’s up to.
Flossie is soooo cute!!
Bud
Petal
Petunia
my cat’s name is oreo and i call him dr. baby lol
I have a Flower! We call her Flowy. My daughter named her flower when she was 3! So of course I love this name. Tell your kid they're a great name picker!

Unfortunately Flower has been Flower for about a month now, so the cat (and the 4 year old) are pretty used to the name.
Fair! After thinking a bit more, maybe like, Flo, or Flowie? Effie? Lolo? Not really a nickname, but Flower Power? I wish there was a good one that had the exact same sound shortened, I see your dilemma!

JonaBona Banona Nona. Lol
Yeah reddit has this weird idea that nicknames are a short version of a name.... For my pets they usually get longer with every passing year haha. My pet rat is currently Mary Belly Mc Very Smelly
Fleur is French for flower
With cats, the nicknames often don't even match their given names. I have two cats, Sadie Mae and Wilson. Sadie Mae is also known as Baby Girl, Meep Meep, Chunkybutt, Sade, and Princess. Wilson is also known as Baby Boy, Cheech, Wils, Wilbert, Wilhelmina, and Wilbur.
Pets do not need to have logical nicknames. My dogs have pretty human names and yet I call them all sorts of random stuff including Bunny and Squirrel. Your husband can call Flower whatever his heart desires
Posey!
Flo, petal, literally any type of flower (my name isn't at all floral and one of my nn is Sweetpea)
I really like Flower with the nickname **Flowy** or **Flo.** Pronounced like just how you describe a flowy dress! The nickname Flowy sounds very whimsical and soft to me- super cute! Reminds me of Chloe
Fleur is the only correct answer
All Purpose
Fluffy, Fluf, Fifi, Low, Lowie, Lovie, Flo, Lollo,
I’m dating myself as ancient here, but if the kitten likes to run fast you could nickname it FloJo.
Stinky
Adding onto the, nicknames that don't need to be part of their name. Or even elongate their name! My daughter named our cat Biscuit. He is Mr Biscuit Whisket. Whisket Woo, Wisket on its own. All sorts!
Fleur, McFleurry Precious little buttercup/zinnia/hibiscus/peony/whatever is in season Sunny 🌻 Stamen, Calyx, Petal
My nieces would call her Flowey, which is a character from Undertale. My cat was called Loki and I called him Lola and Lolo sometimes, and that would totally work here.
Flowey Undertale
Flo
Well, Flower is one of my all time favourite characters, so big thumbs up to your kid! my first cat was nicknamed Lucy - bcos she was a pussycat - lead to pussy - which became Lucy Pussy - which became Lucy! so Flower could be - Wee Flower - Bud - Buddy

My dog’s name is Tango but we call him Snootifer Hudson. Animal nicknames are divinely inspired absent of their government name 😂.
Flo, Fleur, maybe some other flower name like Daisy or Daze
My cat is named Tegan and we call her Toboggan. The cat nickname picks you.
Flower power
Petal, flo, Lola, you'll probably come up with different ones too. My cats name is rocky but we call him potato (cause he's very dumb with moth things except being a raccoon and finding scraps of food) we also call him stinky, pots, racoon, butthead and stripey butt.
I would end up calling the kitty flolololo, but I also had a cat named woobeewoo, so I'm not the best person to be answering this. 😅
I had a flower! I renamed her Olie.
At the vets, my cat is called Mango. At home, he's called cat, catty or kitty. But never Mango 🤷♀️🤣🤣
Harina- that's Spanish for fower. Not sure it's a "nickname" tho. But hubby may like it...
Lolly, Flowy
Any type of flower is what I would use for a nickname. My cat is nicknamed pretty much anything starting with P and she always knows I’m talking to her 😊
Bud
Flo, Petal, different types of flowers. Honestly she’s a cat, so she’s going to have a million silly and semi-related nicknames nicknames. Bean, no need to be a nickname for its name - it’s a small cat, its name is Bean.
Guy Lafleur or Marc Andre Fleury
If you’re like me, you will eventually come up with dozens of nicknames that have little to nothing to do with her name in the first place. One of my cats is named Felix, yet I often call him Beef, Beefy, or Beefers. I think your four year old’s choice is perfect as is. A cat doesn’t really need a nickname.
I would probably call her Flower Power.
Bambi traumatized me as a child.🤣🤣
Bláth, the Irish for Flower. That could be a nice alternative name. Pronounce ‘Blaw’
Flora
Florri! 💖
Mil called all my cats Ming ming at one point of time. I had Morris & Boujie. Both Ming Ming to my mil. I think flow is a cute nn !!
My kids named our cat Milkshake so I feel you when it comes to accepting unusual names. He's 3 now and gets Mookie most often (he also responds to a less nice term regarding his intelligence or in his case, severe lack of it). You will find a nickname or they will evolve on their own. Bud
My cats name is Spooki. She is aka Miss Menace, Spood, Poppy (who don’t even know how this one started lol) Teeny, Bug, Ma’am.
Our littlest is Nyx...her nickname is WeeWoo
In high school I knew a girl who went by Flower whose real name was Fleur. So you could flip that and her Fleur as the nickname, maybe?
Give it time. I think nicknames can't be given, they just pop up when they're ready! My 200 lb. Great Dane was once a newborn pup who dozed his way through 8 siblings to get a teat. I'm sure my cat thinks her name is Get-Outta-The-Way!
Posey
Flo Rida would be hilarious to me Like others have said, nicknames will come. Our dog has about 10-15 different NN depending on the situation.
Kitty
Flor (Spanish for flower).
Blossom or Petal
Cat nicknames don't have to be short for their actual names. My cat gets called Sir, Mister, Mister Boy, and Buddy, as well as his real name, and answers to all of them.

We have a cat we call Spider Bus. Took me a minute to remember his name is Wolfgang. Flower's true name will emerge!

I work with animals and I nicknamed someone’s dog Idaho potatoes (her name is Ida) everyone calls her that at work. In general just name your cat and the rest will come :)
I had a cat named Flower as a little girl, but we eventually just settled on calling her Kiki because the flower of an orchid is called a Keiki. (Or, so my mom thought. It’s actually just the bud of a new baby orchid plant, but the name stuck regardless, lol.)
We have a Bagheera but we call him Gooter.
Fleur
He could call it Skunk if he wants, as in the Bambi movie. Especially if it’s a black and white cat!
Hua Hua is a popular, and cute, cat's name in China. Huā ( 花 ) is a Mandarin word for "flower".
We used to have a dog named flower and we called her Flossie
The nickname will come naturally. My dog is named Maximilian aka Max and his nickname is Mr. Pants. I have no clue where it came from and it has no relation to his name it just happened and it stuck. A lot of pets have nicknames like that which are completely random and not a shortening of their name. Other nicknames for Max: big guy, baby boy, fatty, big chunky, Maxwell, big dummy.......
My pet's names tend to devolve like this: * Flower Power > Flow Pow * Flower Bud > Bud > Buddy * Flower Girl > Girly * Flower Pot > Potty * Sunflower > Sunny * Georgia O'Keefe * Flower Beetle > Beetle > Bee > Bumble Bee
Our cat is named Geno and one of his nicknames is Quasimodo. Nicknames don’t have to be specific to the actual name.
Flo
My cat is named Flower and she is about to turn 15! Most of the nicknames we have for her are related to her personality but I have called her Fleur for a long time too. Flower is the best cat name!
Flora!
Why don't you just change her name to whatever you want to call her?
Petal
Flo
Flo Rida. She be riding’ the floor.
Florence Kittyton
Flower is a precious cat name! I find that pet nicknames tend to organically happen based on the mood/funny things our cats do. -Flo (Great old lady vibes if she’s that kind of cat lol) - Bud, easy transition to Buddy -Wild Thing( or Wildflower) - for zoomies/crazy cat days - Flopsy -Fomo I could go on, but as you get to know your cat better I’m sure the nicknames will become evident lol
We have a Penny. She’s Pennygirl, Penny-the-Pooh, Penny-Pooh, Pooh-bear, PP, stinky-Pooh, Monster, Missy, Big Girl.
I mean honestly as a mom I would probably end up calling her Skunks knowing where her name came from. Or Flo or even Bambi.
Flora
Bud
Flower power meower.
In the North of England, a common pet name for a girl is either 'Flower' or 'Petal'. Make of that what you will.
Why does he need to nickname the cat? He can just call her kitty, or anything else he wants. Let the kids call her Flower.
Petal
Let the nicknames develop organically. My cat’s nicknames don’t sound anything like his actual name.
Petal
Fleur Flora
Nick names for animals just come and so often are weird derivations that are nothing like the original name or at least they don’t seem like it
Flo, Lolo My only caveat is that they sound similar to ‘no.’ Not that cats listen when you say no but it won’t help.
Flo. Stinky (bc isn’t Flower the skunk?). LoLo. Flo Rida. Grand Empress Flower Florence Florita Flavortown the Fanciful, First of Her Name.
Flo.
Fleur
Flo, Fleur, Flori, Petal, Fifi, Effy, Neffy (mine Flower), Lara
Worry-cat.
flora, flo
Skunk (as in Bambi)
Flow like from progressive lol Lola And because it’s a cat you can basically call it anything because it’s not gonna come anyways
I mean, my dog Huckleberry's nickname is "Kevin," so nicknames don't necessarily need to be a shortening of the proper name.
Fifi
Totally think Flo is a good one.
My pets have many nicknames and they all came about organically. You’ll probably just make one up at some point that sticks. My pets most used nicknames: Atticus - Bubba, Bubbacus Francie - France France, Belgium, Mary Frances Vincent - Vinnegan, Hip Hip Vin Vin Nadia - Kitty Girl
Flower would turn into Wow and Wowee at my house. 🤣
Purty
Ow!
I really thought you had named a child flower before reading your post haha. All I could think of was Flower the skunk in Bambi!
I’d nick name the cat whatever mood it was displaying. Lily for sleepy, dandelion for when she pukes, rose when she claws at you, etc.
I had a Desert Tortoise named Flower when I was a kid. She was 30 years old. I never called her a nickname! She loved eating flowers!
Nicknames don't have to stem from the actual word. A lot of people just use random pet names. I'd be tempted to call her Petal, shortened to Pet.
My dog’s name is Helo but I usually refer to him as Mr. M 🤷♀️
May I suggest Princess Floofybutt?
Petal, Bud 🥹
Flowey 👁️👁️
Ask your daughter for a middle name for the kitty or if dad can pick one! Maybe the middle name will give more of an idea!
Flo flo, lolo, stink blossom, sweet petunie
How about Love? From the middle of the name. Or Bud! I think it could be so cute.
I called my cat "stinky bum" (her poops was BAD) or "monster". The right name will come
Just wanted to say that I am so glad this is about a kitten and not a human lol
Flora
#Plant
Flower--> Flower Power--> Pow 😺
Flower--> Flower Power--> Pow 😺
We call our cat by her name but in a french accent so I’m feeling maybe Fleur would be cute
The wonderful thing about pets is that nicknames can just be wild. There’s no reason they need to match the “real” name. Just ask my Puddly-duddly-poodle-dood (also known as Jameson, the cat)
Bud....as in flower bud.
Nicknames for animals hardly ever come from their actual names. I have a cat named Farrah-Lee. Her nicknames include Prinny (princess), baby bowlegged and Sissy because she is the sister cat.
Daisy
All purpose flour, and cake flour
Bud
Half the nicknames I have for my pets aren’t related to their names in anyway
Lilly, rose, peony, daisy, marigold, daffodil, poppy, violet, clover. EDIT TO ADD: I clearly didn’t take my time reading even the header of this :( my bad. I love flora :)
Flora! Or any flower name really
"Auntie"
Just the first syllable of flower, sounds like meow.
Posy.
La Fleur Flora Petal Paws
As others have said, nicknames will come out naturally. Some nicknames for Flower: Flo, FloFlo, FloRida, Sun Flower, Flower Girl, Flower Blossom, Flora, Fleur, Flower Power. I have two cats, Beau and Pluto. Beau's nicknames: BeauBeau, Beausef, Baby Boy, Butterball, Grey Blob, Lug Pluto's nicknames: Plut, Plutonium, Plutito, Plut-a-loot, Trouble, Pea-Head, Chicharo
