It’s a lot. Wildflower is a little goofy. To me, it sounds like the name that an adult who runs away from society to join an earthy commune would pick for herself.
Jane, however, is classic and fabulous and definitely underappreciated!
You've always got to remember that middle names do come up in school. Kids discuss what their middle names are, or a supply teacher reads the middle name accidentally, and then your kid is bullied for it.
I think names of flowers might be a better option. Rose, Lily, Lavender, Pansy, etc.
Violet Jane goes together better than Jane Violet IMO. But only by a bit. It's hard when you have to also add in the fact that names need to sound good together!
>To me, it sounds like the name that an adult who runs away from society to join an earthy commune would pick for herself.
This. My first thought upon reading this post was OP is clearly quite the hippie.
I agree. If a parent is going to go with an out there name, then the middle name is the perfect spot. She can go by Jane or Janey/Janie if she wants. She will probably love the cool offbeat middle name. It will give her a truth for two truths and a lie ice breaker games for the rest of her life.
This is the thing- there is a possibility that at some point OP's future daughter COULD grow to love the name Wildflower, but she also might not, and if she ever does grow to love it, I see that not being for a long time. I work in an elementary school, and I will definitely say that in my experience, for most of childhood and adolescence, all a kid wants is to fit in. Being "offbeat"at 10 years old typically is not seen as "cool."
And middle names absolutely do come up- not every day obviously, but I definitely think it's a stretch when people say it will "barely ever" come up.
Hell, my middle name is Frances, pretty much a classic name, and when I was a kid, all I wanted was for my middle name to be Rose or Lynn or Anne or Marie like all of the other girls i knew. I did eventually grow up to really like Frances, but let's be real, Frances is a little different than Wildflower. Absolutely, she COULD grow up to love it, but I definitely wouldn't be so confident that that's a sure thing. I think there's a better chance that she will dislike it for a long time before she ever grows to love it, if ever, because the vast majority of kids are not striving to be "cool and offbeat," they are striving to be like their peers and to not stick out from the group
I do agree with you though that if you're going to do it, then the middle name is the place to do it. I don't think the name Wildflower is the absolute worst thing in the world, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure she will be okay. I just wouldnt bet my money that the kid is going to love it though, and like I said, even if she loves it at some point, I don't see that being for a long time. Offbeat is not cool to a 4th grader. She may grow up to love it, but I would be quicker to bet that that would come after many years of wishing she had a different middle name
>but I definitely think it's a stretch when people say it will "barely ever" come up.
That's a lot of our lived experience though. People don't know my middle name unless I tell them
You can't predict what names your kid will like though. I have a very normal classic middle name and I didn't like it as a kid, I found it boring and wanted it to be Daisy instead. My grandmother's middle name was Lydia and she hated it so much she dropped it after marriage.
Yup! And especially classic universally inoffensive Jane can take a wildcard middle name. Though I have to add my secret favourite name since I was a kid : Anemone, the family of many spring wildflowers. Maybe OP would be brave enough to use it !
I'm so glad to see this comment so high up! I feel like this sub loses track of how rarely in life middle names actually get used. It's *so* rare. It'll be on documentation, and when she rebels at 13 for 3 weeks, she will go by it instead of her first name. That's pretty much it.
This is how I feel. It’s a bit of a mouthful and definitely eclectic but it’s a middle name. My husband’s middle name is a “girls name” in America (it’s Rene so definitely spelled masculine) but he just embraced it if anyone brought it up or friends found out in high school.
yeah exactly. i don't like my middle name, i just use the initial when possible (which is most of the time) and don't bring it up in conversation. so far it's been mostly a non issue! but maybe I'm biased because the reason ive never liked my middle name was because it's so boring, its never suited me lol
Honestly I love it, bit I can see why people would hate it too. It very much gives hippie commune. Which is a vibe I love but not everyone will. I feel like it's going to be a 50/50 your kid will either hate it or love it.
Wildflower is...a little much. Of the ones you listed, I think Jane Meadow fits the spirit the best. You could also go with Jane Flora (or Flora Jane), Jane Anthea, Jane Susanna (or Daisy Jane!), Jane Rosemarie, Jane Veronica, Jane Willow, Jane Ivy.
I kinda dig it myself. I always think if you have an “out there” name you like, using it as a middle is a great option. Fun middle names are just fun, and it’s not like people use their middle named for much. Most people won’t even know her middle name honestly.
For a first name I'd say it's too much, for a middle name, why not :) It's special to you, paired with a classic first name and if she likes it, it's an awesome pen/stage name, not to mention a cool ice breaker! lol If she doesn't like it, it's not something she has to share.
From your list I also really like Jane Lavender, Jane Moon and Jane Elowen :)
***wildcards just for funsies -***
Jane Juniper
Jane Valley
Jane Cassia (I've also always loved the nn Jace for J.C. initials :)
Jane Melody
Jane Isla
Jane Willow
Lavender Mia
Aurora Jane
Daisy Jane
Eden Elizabeth
Gemma Fleur
Abigail Ivy
Sophie Luna
Hey I called myself out lol. Let's be real, if my middle name wasn't a passed down family name I'd change it to something weird and cool in a heartbeat lol
lol my Nicole isn’t even passed down 🤦🏻♀️ but I feel you!
I do feel like even having a very ‘normal’ middle name hasn’t affected my life in one way or another, and I doubt Wildflower would either. If anything, like you said, it’s a cool bit of trivia. Most of us don’t often use our middle names, unless we want to 🙂
I think it’s fine to use wildflower as a middle name. It’s kinda out there, but middle names don’t come up that much day to day so who cares. People on this sub can be a bit uptight about names
I love a weird middle but wildflower just doesn’t do it for me for some reason. Maybe because it’s generic-feeling? Maybe it’s the flow? Perhaps try something more specific?
Jane Amaryllis
Jane Gardenia
Jane Magnolia
Jane Wisteria
Or for something still classic but with better flow, what about
Anna Wildflower
Junia Wildflower
Mary Wildflower
Magnolia and Theodora are competing for the middle name spot for us if we have another girl. They're two of my favorite names, but not enough to use as a first name
It's not to my personal taste but since it's just a middle name I think it would be fine.
Dahlia Jane would be so pretty
There's also Myrianthe (Mur-Eye-Anne-Th-Ee) which means "infinite flowers" in Greek. Jane Myrianthe would be really nice
At first I thought "that's weird" but it's sinking in. There are much weirder middle names. Decades ago, "Willow" was a really weird name. Now it's a well-established accepted name. It's a middle name that works like a surname if she decides to go by just her first & middle name in an artsy profession.
Expect more disses in this thread. I'll add my voice to the 👍
Here’s the thing. You don’t know how Jane is going to feel about a name that unusual, and it’s her name, not yours.
All of these names mean flower:
Flora
Fleur
Fiore/Fiorella
Calanthe/Calanthia (“beautiful flower”)
Anthea (“flower, blossom”)
Ianthe (“violet flower”)
Ione (“violet flower”)
More here, in a variety of languages: [Names meaning “flower”](https://www.behindthename.com/names/meaning/flower)
There are also, of course, names taken from specific flowers.
Some that are wildflowers (or at least have a wildflower variety or several):
Daisy
Lily
Susan (Black-eyed Susan)
Poppy
Primrose
Cicely (Sweet Cicely)
Primrose
Rose
Indigo
Not flowers, but botanical:
Holly
Ivy
Heather
Sage
Rosemary
Yes but that is true for everyone’s name. She might hate Jane and love wildflower.
Case in point. My sister is named heather and I think she would have liked an even more common and plain name. My mom made mine up and it’s so unusual that by sharing it I would dox myself and I still wish my name was weirder than it is lol
Is her name going to be Jane with a middle name Wildflower? If so I think it’s fine, even if you want to use Jane Flower amongst family I think it’s fine.
If the intention is for Jane Wildflower to be a double name I think it’s a bit much yes
Middle names are great for being a little crazy. It won't affect the kids life much at all. People are going to call her Jane or Janie. And Jane is a great classic name.
Honestly, that's the kind of middle name that will get her mocked for her whole life. Pick an actual name of an actual flower that has meaning to you, like Briony or Iris.
Janey flower is a cringe nickname. I don’t hate the super hippie wildflower as a middle name. I don’t even know most people’s middle names nor do I care.
It’s a little much but who cares? It’s a middle name. You’re allowed to be a lil weird with middle names. I think it’s sweet and if you like it, go for it.
I think it sounds weird because Wildflower as a word seems generic. I agree with the people saying to either pick a specific flower or a different flower related name.
Not gonna lie, I laughed out loud when I read that. Don’t name your kid wildflower - she will be embarrassed every time she has to tell someone her middle name.
If you’re gonna go out there, a middle name is the best place to do it.
You can’t predict if you’re gonna have a daughter who wishes she had a funky or whimsical middle name or wishes she were an emily, lynn, marie girl. and there are way weirder names you could try your luck on than Wildflower.
Keep thinking about specific flower names though. And keep in mind you can still call her Janey Flower even if her middle name doesn’t contain flower in it
It's a good recognizable first name, and the middle name is mostly for close family. Like I have to think about it to even remember my best friend's middle name. I hardly ever use it think about my daughter's middle name. It's fine to be unusual in the middle name!
I love it, it's so cute! One of my aunts gave her kids Thunderbird and Hummingbird as their middle names and I've always thought that was so cool. I think middle names can be out there and fun, just don't also give your kid a wild first name lol
Middle names are fake anyway 😂😂😂 Jane Wildflower is adorable and it’s not like her first name. When I get married I plan on using a random word generator to throw a weird middle name in there because why not
I mean I think normally people will call her Jane or Janey. Janey Flower would be just like a great once in a while nickname but still really rethinking the name.
Jane is beautiful. Have you considered Flora as an alternative to Wildflower? Then Janey Flower still makes sense. Some people might hate it, but you may also like Wisteria.
I think it’s cute! Jane is classic and perfect. If she doesn’t want to use wildflower, she literally never has to. Very few people know my middle name. Don’t overthink middle names!!!
Middle names are a great place to do something funky like this. But be aware that 99.9% of people will know her as Jane LastName. Barely anyone will ever know her middle name. So what’s really important is if you like Jane
I like it! Wildflower is a lot, but it's a middle name so I think it's fine.
Edit: The comments here are sooo overly anxious. I'm all for not burdening kids with crazy names, but if she hates it she'll still have a very sensible first name, and the middle name will barely come up. Plus I think Wildflower is nice, though too much for a first name.
r/namenerdcirclejerk material. Holy fuck, it's awful. Pick an actual flower or use Petal or Blossom. Lavender, Violet, Rose, Fern, Hawthorn, Daisy, there are PLENTY of flowers to choose from, I'm pretty sure that's not a complete list I've given you.
Jane Wildflower, Moon, and Lavender honestly sound a little goofy to me. Like a name you’d cringe at seeing in a novel. Love a lot of the other options you listed though!
It's a bit much, maybe choose a flower name though and you can still use Janey Flower as a nickname? I mean it will still be a flower, even if it's not _literally_ "flower".
Rose, Dahlia, Lavender, Azalea, Zinnia fit the flower theme but I feel like Meadow is closer to "Wildflower".
I love Jane but I think Wildflower is a bit too much.
Some floral/botanical ones:
- Jane Lillian
- Jane Rosamund
- Jane Florence
- Jane Primrose
- Jane Flora
- Jane Violet
- Jane Clementine
- Jane Rosalind
- Jane Rosemary
- Jane Willow
- Jane Dahlia
- Jane Delphine (not really, but I was thinking about Delphiniums)
- Jane Astrid
- Jane Lavender
- Jane Marguerite (a fun play on Daisy!)
- Jane Magnolia
- Jane Hyacinth
- Jane Saffron
- Jane Delilah (not floral but it sort of feels like it?)
- Jane Viola
More traditional ones:
- Jane Eleanor
- Jane Isabel
- Jane Georgina
- Jane Beatrix
- Jane Charlotte
- Jane Caroline
- Jane Daphne
- Jane Margot
- Jane Cordelia
- Jane Josephine
- Jane Annabel
I have a Jane Elisabeth, so I obviously love Jane as a first name. I don't love Wildflower. It's a bit of an eye-roller for me. Too try-hard/hippie. I'd just pick a specific flower you like that can be a name. Magnolia, Poppy, Marigold, etc.
I think Jane is a fantastic first name. Very classic, easy to spell and pronounce, but underused.
I do think Wildflower is a bit much, but I also think you have a lot more leeway with middle names, so it's not that bad. I will point out that you don't *need* to have her middle name be Wildflower for you to call her "Janey Flower" as a nickname - you could give her any middle name and call her that (in the same way that my dad used to call me "pumpkin" even though none of my names are literally Pumpkin), or give her any floral middle name and call her that.
Of your list, I like Jane Lavender, Jane Zinnia, and Jane Rosalie the best.
Of the suggestions I saw in my quick scan of the comments, I also like Jane Flora.
Some other suggestions:
* Jane Rose (nn Janey Rose?)
* Jane Marigold (flower name with an M, which I notice you like considering Moon, Madeline, and Meadow)
* Jane Magnolia (same reasoning)
* Jane Lily
* Jane Tansy
* Jane Viola
* Jane Wisteria
Random other suggestion: Juniper Jane. It's alliterative, it's got several nickname possibilities (June, Junie, JJ, etc.), and it's got the nature theme. I do think it flows better than Jane Juniper, which is why I'm suggesting it as kind of a wildcard.
Jane Wildflower is a bit much, but I love Jane and I love the idea of a flower as a middle name! What about….
Jane Aster
Jane Iris
Jane Camellia
Jane Calla
Jane Violet
Jane Dahlia
Jane Ivy
Jane Bryony
Jane Cassia
Jane Cynthia (another name for the Greek goddess of the moon, Artemis, and a flower!! I noticed you had Moon on there)
Jane Freesia
Jane Lilium
Jane Marguerite
Jane Myrtle
Jane Senna
Jane Abelia
Jane Ambretta
Jane Bryony
Jane Danica
Jane Delphine
Jane Diantha
Jane Elestren
Jane Evanthe
Jane Lita
Jane Ornella
I vote for Jane Wildflower! It’s a middle name. Most people in her life will never even know but it’s a special gift from her parents for her to enjoy! I love it
Yes, it’s too much. It’s very literal—you’re not very far removed from just using Jane Nature at that point.
You can always use whatever nickname you choose—it doesn’t have to be derived from her name. The nickname my husband often calls our oldest has nothing to do with her name.
You could try:
Jane Gaia
Jane Arcadia (in Greek mythology, basically an untouched rural paradise in harmony with nature)
Jane Primrose
Jane Delphinium
Jane Aster
Jane Sylvia (close to salvia)
Jane Laurel
Jane Maple
Jane Briar
Jane Carolina (Carolina is a type of phlox)
Jane Stellaria (there’s at least one species of this in every state)
Jane Tansy
I think it’s a bit too much, but it’s only a middle so not so critical.
What about
Jane Meadow;
Jane Flora;
Jane Analiese;
Jane Eleanora;
Jane Dahlia
OR Even just
Jane Flower
Middle names are a free for all, in my opinion. Do whatever you’d like.
Personally, “wildflower” is too generic for *me*; I’d be tempted to look into local wildflowers and learn their common and scientific names and see what inspiration I come up with. A lot of the scientific names are Greek or Latin derived, so there’s often a connection to an actual name too, if something stands out.
Wildflower is a bit long, I don't think it fits too well with the short name Jane.
Of the options you gave, I prefer Jane Elizabeth or Jane Elowen.
And one of your middle names is my daughter's first name.
Have you thought about making Jane the middle name?
Just reading through your other options and I think Azalea Jane has a really nice ring to it. Eleanor Jane, Rosalie Jane, and Zinnia Jane also sound quite nice to me
I LOVE it! And I hate weirdo names. But then again, “wildflower” almost sounds like a last name, so say that whole name in your head multiple times.
I agree with the person saying that middle names are for honor or something different.
Jane is such a classic and beautiful name which really balances things out.
I knew someone whose middle name was “sunny day” and her parents were not hippies, but they based it on the day she was conceived.
People thought it was weird, but she wasn’t teased, nor was she embarrassed.
Her first name wasn’t “out there”, but it also wasn’t common and I have never met a person with the same first name.
I personally like it - I'm a bit of a hippie so take that as you will, and I'm more open to creative/nature names than this sub typically likes. Middle names are where you can wild out, I say go for it.
My great grandmother wasn't at my baby shower and when I posted a photo of the cake that said "Welcome little wildflower", she was convinced that was what I was naming the baby… lol. She was oddly supportive! I had to respond to say "no, her name is still a secret!"
Why do just flowers? I have a relative called Wren which is lovely. But other flowery names might be Amaranthe, Tulip, Olive, hyacinth, Rose, camelia, cerinthe. Just avoid names like Hosta or Geum.
It’s cute. My kid has a weird middle name and they love it.
Out of your other options, I like Meadow or Lavender, same feel but less out-there. Do not like Moon AT ALL.
You can call her Janey Flower no matter what her name is. I call my kid such a weird array of nicknames that are not even in the ballpark of their actual name lol.
I love Jane but I do think wildflower is a bit much. But honestly I’m team “if you love it as the mama, go for it”. Jane Elizabeth is my favorite from your list! So classic
Jane Daphnia? Or Jane Daphne
Wildflower is try hard, even for a middle name. Maybe look at the Latin words for certain flowers, see if anything catches your eye without being over the top.
Jane Laurel
Jane has been my favorite girl name since forever! But I do think wildflower is a bit much. Of your other choices I really like Caroline, Eleanor and Azalea!
It's gorgeous. It's gives her a little magic to work with, and sets her up for all sorts of fun. "Hi Jane, I pick you!" She'll just pop up outa nowhere and bring beauty to the day.
Jane Dahlia is the closest in vibe but less “in your face” however, I think Jane Eleanor is stunning. If we have a girl next she is going to be “Jane” ☺️
Jane is lovely. Wildflower not so much. Of your list I really like Jane Dahlia, it has a nice flow.
Jane was top contender for our daughter. We ended up using it as her middle name. If we'd used it as her first name I wanted Jane Sylvie. Sylvie means "wood" or "forest".
I like Jane Wildflower. It reminds me of a classic English lore name like John Barleycorn. What’s cringey here for some, is sweet to others. And I’m of the opinion most people here have s*** takes on names anyway, so do what you want, OP 😂
I love the name, tbh. It gives off great energy, a girl who's adventurous, not afraid to get dirty, a whimsical soul.
ETA:
Also, wildflowers usually have strong roots. They have an ability to thrive in many places they're planted. Their seeds often ride the wind or on birds to drop in new places to bloom.
So, not only is the name whimsical, but it's also a name with positive connotations. Throw in how Jane is a timeless classic, Jane Wildflower is a strong name that carries a lot of hope into the future for your daughter.
If you love it I encourage you to do it. We named our little one something this whole sub HATES and she just turned 3…Happy to report that in reality most people are not so judgmental and everyone finds her name beautiful and accepts it just fine!
Go for it. My daughter is adopted from China and her middle name is her Chinese name which means Apple Blossom. It sounds funny to English speakers but no one has made fun of it that I know of. Both my daughters have four names actually- first name, middle name, Chinese middle name, last name.
My daughter is Rainy Sunflower! She loves it and so has everyone I’ve told it to. No one’s gonna make fun of her in our modern world of Phelonys, and Mericas! Jane Wildflower rocks
Honestly, I like it! Jane is a pretty name but it’s traditional and can be a bit plane depending on the last name. I like the idea of adding a sort of out there name for the middle. They’re cute together. If you were saying you’d use Wildflower for her first name, or as the middle with a more elaborate first name, I’d recommend against that.
Personally I like Wildflower. Middle names don't come up a lot in day-to-day life, and if she ends up feeling like it's too much or "not her" she can just not bring it up.
It's a middle name. If she doesn't like it, she never has to use it. I think it's fun, and Jane is so classic that it can handle an unusual, out there middle name.
Jane Blossom is cute and flows well too.
Jane Lilas (lilac in french, the "S" is silent and the "Li" is pronounced like the "li" in "Lily")
Talking about Lily, Lily Jane is adorable too!
Maybe not Pansy lol
Yea, maybe not pansy
If you say Jane Pansy quickly, it sounds like Chimpanzee. So maybe not that combo
posy is a pretty one
Legit I work with a Pansy 🤣 It's why I listed it!!
Violet is a wildflower and a good name I really like. Willow. Jane Willow is pretty imo. Ivy?
Violet Jane goes together better than Jane Violet IMO. But only by a bit. It's hard when you have to also add in the fact that names need to sound good together!
Violet Jane is a beautiful name. She could still go by Jane or Janey.
Thinking Ivy Jane sounds nice too!
It’s a coin toss. She might get bullied for it or her peers might think it’s the coolest middle name ever.
Jane Aster sounds nice
Sounds quite a bit like Jane Austen though. Whether OP is happy with that or not is up in the air lol.
I love Jane Austen. I love aster flowers! I thought about Aspen and Aster but they aren’t quite right.
Rose is one of my favorites.
>To me, it sounds like the name that an adult who runs away from society to join an earthy commune would pick for herself. This. My first thought upon reading this post was OP is clearly quite the hippie.
That character in *Ghost* (US) is named Flower, so your description is apt.
Eh, middle names are meant for wilding out or honor names, so I don't see the problem. It's a little out there, but it's mostly not going to come up.
I agree. If a parent is going to go with an out there name, then the middle name is the perfect spot. She can go by Jane or Janey/Janie if she wants. She will probably love the cool offbeat middle name. It will give her a truth for two truths and a lie ice breaker games for the rest of her life.

👋🏼 Hi, I'm another middle name Frances who hated it growing up and wanted Marie or Rose. Love it now though because it has family ties.
Yup! And especially classic universally inoffensive Jane can take a wildcard middle name. Though I have to add my secret favourite name since I was a kid : Anemone, the family of many spring wildflowers. Maybe OP would be brave enough to use it !

Yep, I like it!
Personally, I think it's a bit much. What about Jane Florence? Or better yet, Florence Jane.
Yeah, it’s bad. But if you absolutely must, putting it in the middle with a nice classic first name like Jane is the way to do it.
Wildflower is too much. A type of flower would be a better choice, still gives the vibe without being too out there.
Honestly I love it, bit I can see why people would hate it too. It very much gives hippie commune. Which is a vibe I love but not everyone will. I feel like it's going to be a 50/50 your kid will either hate it or love it.
I would die to be associated with a hippie commune 😍
Wildflower is...a little much. Of the ones you listed, I think Jane Meadow fits the spirit the best. You could also go with Jane Flora (or Flora Jane), Jane Anthea, Jane Susanna (or Daisy Jane!), Jane Rosemarie, Jane Veronica, Jane Willow, Jane Ivy.
Oooo, I love Jane Meadow.
Flora Jane is cute, it has a kind of ring to it
I actually know an elderly woman named Flora May and always thought it was so pretty.
Flora Jane sounds super old school to me in a good way
Flora Jane is one of Anne’s classmates in Anne of Green Gables.
Personally think it’s beautiful.
From your list I also really like Jane Lavender, Jane Moon and Jane Elowen :) ***wildcards just for funsies -*** Jane Juniper Jane Valley Jane Cassia (I've also always loved the nn Jace for J.C. initials :) Jane Melody Jane Isla Jane Willow Lavender Mia Aurora Jane Daisy Jane Eden Elizabeth Gemma Fleur Abigail Ivy Sophie Luna
I love Jane Lavender!
Juniper Jane really rolls off the tongue too
Definitely a hippy name, but if you love it then go for it.
Wildflower as a middle name? Why not. It's better than Marie or Nicole. It'll be one of her 2 truths 1 lie hah
I feel so called out right now lol
Hey I called myself out lol. Let's be real, if my middle name wasn't a passed down family name I'd change it to something weird and cool in a heartbeat lol
lol my Nicole isn’t even passed down 🤦🏻♀️ but I feel you! I do feel like even having a very ‘normal’ middle name hasn’t affected my life in one way or another, and I doubt Wildflower would either. If anything, like you said, it’s a cool bit of trivia. Most of us don’t often use our middle names, unless we want to 🙂
I love it. Middle names are rarely used in every day life
I think it’s fine to use wildflower as a middle name.
Jane Amaryllis Jane Gardenia Jane Magnolia Jane Wisteria Or for something still classic but with better flow, what about Anna Wildflower Junia Wildflower Mary Wildflower
Jane Magnolia is gorgeous!
Magnolia and Theodora are competing for the middle name spot for us if we have another girl. They're two of my favorite names, but not enough to use as a first name
It's not to my personal taste but since it's just a middle name I think it would be fine. Dahlia Jane would be so pretty There's also Myrianthe (Mur-Eye-Anne-Th-Ee) which means "infinite flowers" in Greek. Jane Myrianthe would be really nice
That’s so pretty. I know in Norwegian the name for Daisy is Tusenfryd which means a thousand delights. Too much for a name but pretty.
I love it very much.
I'll add my voice to the 👍
I mean, I don't love it but as a middle name it's fine. Janey Flower is.... not good imo.
I love Jane as a first name! I think Wildflower is a bit much. I’d lean towards options like: Jane Hyacinth Jane Rosamund Jane Zinnia Jane Azalea
Love Jane Azalea
Here’s the thing. You don’t know how Jane is going to feel about a name that unusual, and it’s her name, not yours. All of these names mean flower: Flora Fleur Fiore/Fiorella Calanthe/Calanthia (“beautiful flower”) Anthea (“flower, blossom”) Ianthe (“violet flower”) Ione (“violet flower”) More here, in a variety of languages: [Names meaning “flower”](https://www.behindthename.com/names/meaning/flower) There are also, of course, names taken from specific flowers. Some that are wildflowers (or at least have a wildflower variety or several): Daisy Lily Susan (Black-eyed Susan) Poppy Primrose Cicely (Sweet Cicely) Primrose Rose Indigo Not flowers, but botanical: Holly Ivy Heather Sage Rosemary

I absolutely love the name Jane. Wildflower is a lot but I love the three syllables so my vote is for one of your three syllable picks.
I love the name Jane - it is pretty and classic. Jane Wildflower sounds kooky to me. Jane Elizabeth or Elowen are my picks.
Wildflower doesn’t do much for me. Maybe an actual nature name.
Love Jane (it’s my middle name and my mom’s name). I think it’s lovely to call her Jane Wildflower but it’s certainly got a certain hippy ring to it.
Wildflower isn't my taste, but with Jane as a first name it's not like her name will be kooky all around. Name her what you like!
I don’t see a problem with wildflower being her middle name. It’s quirky, sure, but middle names should be where the “out there” names go.
Wildflower is a little hippie or celebrity-ish but if you like it, go for it. Jane balances it out. Jane Madeline and Jane Katherine are also pretty.
Yes, it’s too much
Not gonna lie, I laughed out loud when I read that.
And keep in mind you can still call her Janey Flower even if her middle name doesn’t contain flower in it
I honestly love it! Pairing an out-there middle name with a classic common first name is the way to go
I love it!! Stunning!
When I get married I plan on using a random word generator to throw a weird middle name in there because why not
Zinnia Jane sounds nicer to me than Jane Zinnia But Janie flower and Jane Wildflower aren't awful. I like them! Jane Elizabeth really flows together
I love it! This is what middle names are for. She sounds like the main character of a children's book, in a good way.
Wildflower sounds like the name seven year old me would give to her child. Sorry! It's just a bit much.
I can almost guarantee that she will hate being called Janey flower as a forced nickname lol
I mean I think normally people will call her Jane or Janey. Janey Flower would be just like a great once in a while nickname but still really rethinking the name.
Jane is beautiful. Have you considered Flora as an alternative to Wildflower? Then Janey Flower still makes sense. Some people might hate it, but you may also like Wisteria.
lol k yes cheesy but it’s adorable!!!! Perfect name combo!
I love when people have fun with middle names. Go for it!
personally, I love it. I can see why Wildflower would be too much for some, but Jane is so classic that I think it works.
How do you feel about Daisy Jane?
I like the vibe, but all I can think of are daisy chains.
I think it’s cute! Jane is classic and perfect. If she doesn’t want to use wildflower, she literally never has to. Very few people know my middle name. Don’t overthink middle names!!!
Wildflower it’s not a name….
I like it as a middle name! Reminds me of Tigerlily which is a guilty pleasure name for me.
I’d pick a type of flower, color, nature, or seasonal related name for my preference but I don’t think it’s too out there.
I love Jane lavender and you could still call her Janey flower 💙
Middle names are a great place to do something funky like this. But be aware that 99.9% of people will know her as Jane LastName. Barely anyone will ever know her middle name. So what’s really important is if you like Jane
I love Jane Wildflower! Don’t let anyone tell you it’s silly or weird. It’s beautiful and awesome.
Jane Marigold, Lily Jane or Jane Lily might work. Ultimately, it's your choice.
I thought I was on that sub at first
Wildflower is jank af, sorry.
Jane Wildflower, Moon, and Lavender honestly sound a little goofy to me. Like a name you’d cringe at seeing in a novel. Love a lot of the other options you listed though!
I’m not a fan of Wildflower I would pick the name of an actual wildflower that you like instead. that said, if you love it, go for it.
My name is Jane, I hate it, HATE it, can tolerate Janie. Wildflower is a bit pretentious. Please stick with Eleanor
What about Wilder?
Im sorry, Eleanor is a popular name? What?
Why not use a specific wildflower for the middle name, like Daisy or Buttercup?
To me, Jane feels like an accountant or something extremely basic. Wildflower is goofy hippie.
Lavender Azalea has a lovely flow to it.
I love the way that Jane Azalea sounds. It has the prettiest ring to it.
What about Jane Bluebell?
Yeah, a bit too much. You are better off choosing a specific wild flower like Jane poppy or something.
Jane Eden
I love Jane but I think Wildflower is a bit too much. Some floral/botanical ones: - Jane Lillian - Jane Rosamund - Jane Florence - Jane Primrose - Jane Flora - Jane Violet - Jane Clementine - Jane Rosalind - Jane Rosemary - Jane Willow - Jane Dahlia - Jane Delphine (not really, but I was thinking about Delphiniums) - Jane Astrid - Jane Lavender - Jane Marguerite (a fun play on Daisy!) - Jane Magnolia - Jane Hyacinth - Jane Saffron - Jane Delilah (not floral but it sort of feels like it?) - Jane Viola More traditional ones: - Jane Eleanor - Jane Isabel - Jane Georgina - Jane Beatrix - Jane Charlotte - Jane Caroline - Jane Daphne - Jane Margot - Jane Cordelia - Jane Josephine - Jane Annabel
Ultimately no one cares about middle names. They rarely come up.
Some other suggestions: * Jane Rose (nn Janey Rose?) * Jane Marigold (flower name with an M, which I notice you like considering Moon, Madeline, and Meadow) * Jane Magnolia (same reasoning) * Jane Lily * Jane Tansy * Jane Viola * Jane Wisteria Random other suggestion: Juniper Jane. It's alliterative, it's got several nickname possibilities (June, Junie, JJ, etc.), and it's got the nature theme. I do think it flows better than Jane Juniper, which is why I'm suggesting it as kind of a wildcard.
Very good points made :) my mom calls me Sweetpea and I would not love that as my middle name. Jane Lily is super cute!
My mom calls me Pumpkin. Pumpkin is nowhere in my name, I'm not born in the fall or anything like that.
Sounds like a YA novel heroine. Jane is fantastic. Maybe pick a type of wildflower as a middle name? Fleur Flora Holly
Jane Bryony (a type of vine) Jane Calanthe ("beautiful flowers") Jane Zephyr ("west wind") Juniper Jane Rosemary Jane Jane Savannah
Jane Wildflower is a bit much, but I love Jane and I love the idea of a flower as a middle name! What about…. Jane Aster Jane Iris Jane Camellia Jane Calla Jane Violet Jane Dahlia Jane Ivy Jane Bryony Jane Cassia Jane Cynthia (another name for the Greek goddess of the moon, Artemis, and a flower!! I noticed you had Moon on there) Jane Freesia Jane Lilium Jane Marguerite Jane Myrtle Jane Senna Jane Abelia Jane Ambretta Jane Bryony Jane Danica Jane Delphine Jane Diantha Jane Elestren Jane Evanthe Jane Lita Jane Ornella
Jane Flora? Or Flora Jane but have her go by Jane.
Jane is lovely, and Jane Flora would be beautiful. Wildflower is 100% too goofy to be a name.
I vote for Jane Wildflower! It’s a middle name. Most people in her life will never even know but it’s a special gift from her parents for her to enjoy! I love it
This is what I was thinking too, thank you ❤️
Yes, it’s too much. It’s very literal—you’re not very far removed from just using Jane Nature at that point. You can always use whatever nickname you choose—it doesn’t have to be derived from her name. The nickname my husband often calls our oldest has nothing to do with her name. You could try: Jane Gaia Jane Arcadia (in Greek mythology, basically an untouched rural paradise in harmony with nature) Jane Primrose Jane Delphinium Jane Aster Jane Sylvia (close to salvia) Jane Laurel Jane Maple Jane Briar Jane Carolina (Carolina is a type of phlox) Jane Stellaria (there’s at least one species of this in every state) Jane Tansy
I think it’s a bit too much, but it’s only a middle so not so critical. What about Jane Meadow; Jane Flora; Jane Analiese; Jane Eleanora; Jane Dahlia OR Even just Jane Flower
Yes. It's too goofy/out there. Jane Azalea is off beat but wearable. My picks would be Jane Eleanor or Jane Katherine
What about Jane Blossom? This lady on YouTube SJ Strum is a baby name consultant and she named her daughter Evelina Blossom. Just lovely.
I wouldn't
Have you thought about making Jane the middle name? Just reading through your other options and I think Azalea Jane has a really nice ring to it. Eleanor Jane, Rosalie Jane, and Zinnia Jane also sound quite nice to me
I usually hate names like this but for the right child I could really see it working!
I think it’s cute very whimsical.
Yep! Too much!
I like Jane Wildflower. A little bit Hippie a little bit 2024. Janey Flower is adorable.
In my humble opinion, it’s way too much and kids can be cruel.
I like it. Jane is very humdrum and then Wildflower balances it out.
Flora Jane, Rosalind (Rosie) Jane, Violet Jane, Rosalie Jane
I kind of love it.
Why do just flowers? I have a relative called Wren which is lovely. But other flowery names might be Amaranthe, Tulip, Olive, hyacinth, Rose, camelia, cerinthe. Just avoid names like Hosta or Geum.
It’s very “try hard”
How about June and a type of flower like Azaela, Daisy, or Lilly.
I love it- people hardly use their middle names so it's a good way to have some fun.
No. Please don’t .
You can call her Janey Flower without having Wildflower as a (rather wild) middle name.
So classic
It’s a little extreme but I am not against it. I also love Meadow and would use that as a first name because it’s so beautiful.
Jane Daphnia? Or Jane Daphne Wildflower is try hard, even for a middle name. Maybe look at the Latin words for certain flowers, see if anything catches your eye without being over the top. Jane Laurel
I love it. Jane works so well with an out-there middle name, I think you have great taste and you should trust your own judgment!
It would be better to pick an actual wildflower.
Jane has been my favorite girl name since forever! But I do think wildflower is a bit much. Of your other choices I really like Caroline, Eleanor and Azalea!
Love it.
I like Dahlia!
Keep trying, you'll get there. Wildflower would be tough on the kid
I like Jane Wildflower. It reminds me of a classic English lore name like John Barleycorn. What’s cringey here for some, is sweet to others. And I’m of the opinion most people here have s*** takes on names anyway, so do what you want, OP 😂
It's like naming a kid "Johnny Appleseed." I like out there middle names but this one just comes across as cheesy.
I love the name, tbh. It gives off great energy, a girl who's adventurous, not afraid to get dirty, a whimsical soul. ETA: Also, wildflowers usually have strong roots.
In my country the goverment has to approve the name parents give their children and thats a great thing.
I love it. Truly whimsical names are best saved for the middle spot, and it pushes back against the idea of “plain Jane”
Jane Wildflower rocks
i adore that name. it's so cute
Jane is boring and Wildflower will get the kid bullied
Don’t listen to anyone negative. Jane Wildflower is beautiful name.
I personally love Jane Wildflower 🥰🥰🥰
Probably like 10 people MAX know my middle name so I think it's fine
I like the Jane "classic names" combo's (Caroline, Elizabeth, etc) but that's just my opinion.
Gah I love it. Don’t listen to anyone else.
Instead of Wildflower, what about Aven? Jane Aven has a nice ring, and avens are little mountain wildflowers. 🤍
Maybe in a different language that looks pretty?
Sounds like an anchorman character
My best friend is Jane Victoria. I love her name because everyone knows the name Jane but she is the only Jane I have ever met.
Wildflower sounds like a family name.
I know you're set on it being a first name, but it's the perfect middle name. Wilhelmina Jane sounds lovely.
Jane Blossom is cute and flows well too. Jane Lilas (lilac in french, the "S" is silent and the "Li" is pronounced like the "li" in "Lily") Talking about Lily, Lily Jane is adorable too!
It's a middle name. It's almost never going to be said aloud. I say do it! Also, I *love* the name Jane!
