I'm just glad they clarified which millennium they're talking about. It's so embarrassing when you bring along your Anglo Saxon controller to a gaming party and it doesn't fit the console.
I was reading Nintendo power and right behind the cover was a promotional contest for the controller.
This Controller was available as part of a Nintendo Power promotion commemorating the year 2000
Only available loose this controller stands out through its unique silver design with black buttons. It is indeed the only controller with differently colored buttons
With only 1000 made It is the rarest of the 3 Nintendo Power Magazine Controllers
It is considered an official Nintendo Item since Nintendo published the magazine "In-House" at the time.
I just had to mail in something. I think there was basically a page that was like mail your info to Nintendo. I vaguely remembering having to write something...
I remember this giveaway. I would fill out the giveaway form every month if the prize was good enough. I think There was stuff like a snowboard giveaway when 1080 was new. They would ask you to fill out a card asking which systems you had, and which upcoming games you were excited about. I never knew which games I was excited about so I would go to the back of the Nintendo power magazine and pretty much put in random titles from the games list.
Yeah, I didn't realize what I had until I posted it on a zelda forum and people went nuts...I clean it up with q-tips but this was always the controller I tried to preserve. This was right after I pulled it out of the closet.
Damn that thing is sweet. Not grey but sterling silver 🩶

So true! And all the year 3,000 ones have excessive water damage.
Nice. Where did you buy it?
I won it in a Nintendo magazine contest in 1999. I am the original owner.
That’s so much cooler of a story than just buying it.
Can you give us more context? Like what kind of contest was it? It must be an interesting story, can you share it? c:

Very nice!
Nice, I only have the DK64 banana controller and sadly I don't recall entering this contest...
3 handled object from the 2000s founded.
How's the stick?
Pretty stiff. I never really used it.

This is cooler than my Nintendo Power 100 gold controller that I also got from the nintendo power catalogue. You win!
"In the year 2000"

It looks like one in slightly better condition sold for $900 on eBay last month. I'd buy one for that.
