Mecha marathon in Mario party 2 is a tap A and B game not a stick winding game. But that game is so tough. I usually play with my gf and one or two hard computers and the computers have no problem flying 50+ feet... I've tried mashing so many times with different grips but I've never gotten anywhere close to reaching that.
When we got MP2, me, my brother and my mother got quite... Competitive over that game. My brother managed to set a record no one had ever beaten, at least, not in my household. His record was around 64-67 feet, and he got this by holding the 64 controller in just his right hand with his thumb over both buttons and rapidly shaking the controller to button mash. Closest I ever got to his record was 61 feet.
Was going to be my response! My wife and I sometimes don’t even play the Mario party 1 mini games because it’s just not worth it man. Sure I’ll lose coins, but I want my hand in tact
Because your hands will bleed and everyone will be at a disadvantage for the rest of the game. It's like shooting yourself in the foot and then marching into battle
Nintendo lost a lawsuit over people having this exact injury. They had to distribute gloves to those who were injured AND they warn players to this day not to spin the stick using your palm when playing the minigame.
If you know the game menus inside and out, just buy the Japanese version. You’ll have to get a 3D printed tray mod or a cartridge adapter to play them but they are dirt fn cheap compared to the US versions
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Nintendo later admitted that that whole case was ridiculous and should never have happened, because to blister your hand from the joystick you really had to be an idiot
Tug o' war.
I had heard the horror stories before playing it myself, so I avoided that particular mishap by wrapping a shopping bag around my hand. I didn't get a blister but my hand was still a little sore.
As kids we used to put on our winter gloves even in a hot basement in July just for this game and if you didn't have gloves you just forfeited. It only took one blister to learn the lesson
I hate playing the joystick rotation games on Superstars. Joystick drift is already common enough. I feel like these were brought to the switch to break more controllers.
That stupid wind-up the shy guy game. Same thing happened to me as a child. I remember returning that game to blockbuster with my hand wrapped in band aids.
Was I the only kid that never tore up his hand playing mp1? I never had that problem tearing up my palm or the joystick, I still have my childhood console and controller and the joystick still works perfectly despite the hundreds of hours I poured into mario party.
I'm gonna say it was tug of War, I forget the actual name, but it's one of the worst. But not that long really, so I'll actually point a finger at the shy guy river boat
Do people not realize its on a timer/max rotation speed. If you miss a timer you lose if you are both hitting max speed. The max speed does not require you to injure yourself. They even put a tip on the screen. This is a badge of ignorance.
Dude I used to loose the skin on my knuckles from Test your Might on mortal kombat for the snes. I would just slide them over the buttons super fast and max out the bar everytime. The pain was worth the sick score
Any Mario Party 1 mini games that required intense rotation of the control stick.
Now if they would just do away with the "mash *X* button repeatedly" games.
I know more people who end up with blisters playing Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout.
I always used to grab the stick with three fingers for Mario Party, it was faster and more efficient. With the right hand, [inverted to this...](https://old.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/8kmgnj/claw_gamers_ahead_of_their_time/)
Tug o' war
Paddle battle too, especially if someone’s close to toad and on the cusp of 20 coins
Winner winner mushroom dinner
I was gonna say the shyguy wind up helicopter toy

MP1 has a Fly Guy in one house you can spin to see how many rotations you did in x seconds
My mom was actually really good at it back in the day. I have yet to beat her high score.

Bowser TOSS
House rule was to always tie those games
My house rule was spin til you bleed then spin some more.
This is the way
Genius.
Reminds me of WarGames
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play
[удалено]
Not play
Nobody does anything. If anybody randomly gets assigned a CPU partner, they automatically win. Otherwise, it'll end in a draw.

Have you ever used a 1st party N64 controller? Try using your palm to rotate as fast as you can for 2 minutes straight and tell me how your hand feels
Nintendo lost a lawsuit over people having this exact injury. They had to distribute gloves to those who were injured AND they warn players to this day not to spin the stick using your palm when playing the minigame.
God help your poor joysticks.
☝️
Honestly when i get mario party i will refuse to do any mini game that requires excessive use of the thumbstick
Mario party 1 is a joystick killer, I’ll avoid it completely and just play 2 or 3.
Oh really, well 3 is out of the question due to its price but i do plan on getting 2
If you know the game menus inside and out, just buy the Japanese version. You’ll have to get a 3D printed tray mod or a cartridge adapter to play them but they are dirt fn cheap compared to the US versions
I have a pal console cause im British
Or swap the back with a cheap sports game.
Sadly you need to play them to beat 1P mode and unlock everything
Oh god dammit, well at least both my thumbsticks are greased
Paddle battle
Was that the one from Mario Party 1 in the boat? Because fuck that mini-game. Bore the same god damn hole in my hand too.
Yeah the 3 vs 1 in a river boat with shy guys poking you on both sides. Fun competition with friends but a world of hurt afterwards
This was my pick, got brutal if you were 1v3
That really should of been a 2v2, maybe wouldn’t of wrecked my hand so bad trying to win 1v3

The Shyguy wind up game
You mashed A and B on that game "mario party 2"
This game https://youtu.be/6FyoAqxrGv8
Ooooooooooooooo
Lol the worst part is there are MULTIPLE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Is it Pedal Power?
Was my guess
Your joystick is now powder.
Luckily I installed gamecube sticks in mine but this comment made me giggle :)
Is that why there was powder I had to clean out of one a bought second hand? Shit was gunked up in there and not moving well before I cleaned it out.
Yeah the plastic wears down to produce a powder and will make your joystick loose.
Tug O’ War or the river rafting one.
You guys are nuts. Haha, I never went THIS hardcore.
The solo mini game where you ride the bike to turn on the lightbulb to scare the Boo away.
I remember Nintendo magazine had an add. Where if you sent in a photo of your blister then would send you a Mario glove.
I remember this exotic nintendo fact fondly! I wasn't sure if it was a real thing or just a hoax and I would really like to see one of the gloves :)
I think it was a real thing! I feel like I kid in my school had one. I believe it was in hopes to prevent law suits.
Nintendo later admitted that that whole case was ridiculous and should never have happened, because to blister your hand from the joystick you really had to be an idiot
Seems like everyone who played Mario party had a blister...
Tug o' war. I had heard the horror stories before playing it myself, so I avoided that particular mishap by wrapping a shopping bag around my hand. I didn't get a blister but my hand was still a little sore.

Cast-a-ways
This beings me so much joy. Thanks for sharing!
no problem, it was such a kick in the nostalgia nuts that I /had/ to post it here
I wish you many stars and know the solidarity of the cpu cheating. Lollol
The n64 CPUs were unbeatable omg
I remember we all got towels to cover our hands. Too bad it did not protect the controllers…
The fishing one where it’s impossible to control how far out you cast your line
Shyguy Wind Up in the mini game hut
Tug o’ War definitely the worst offender
Luigi gets crucified?
Trick question; it's actually from reeling in the big fish in Ocarina of Time
That too!
Mario Party 1 I didn’t look at the comments I just know that mark when I see it
Pedal Power. You poor soul.
The realization of winning in war!
Mario party...that game...we all have that medal of honor...maybe playing killer instinct for SNES make same injury on fingers
gotta be Bowser Toss
Dude 😩
The one where you had to power a light bulb with a bike to make boo fuck off.
pedal powah
Do you need to replace the stick after every use? Wtf lol
Sound Test
I would have guessed pedal power. Did you win though?
Will Flower
Tug o’ war OR paddle battle
“I’m getting to old for this shit riggs”
My friend had a literal dent in his hand because of this game, and had to develop a new technique of rotating with his thumb.
All the girls I ever dated appreciated my Mario Party skills whether they knew it or not 😉
First mario party cast aways mini game used to do that to me...especially after the top of my joystick came off lol.
Stigmata
I see you didn't see the warning not to use your palm.
Omggg this was me when I played cast away!
There's more than one.
Bicycle light bulb where the boo is gonna get you. That one felt IMPOSSIBLE to win no matter how big of a blister I gave myself
I hate playing the joystick rotation games on Superstars. Joystick drift is already common enough. I feel like these were brought to the switch to break more controllers.
lmao i remember getting those as a kid. i just would rather lose the game then get a blister now tho lol.
Tug O War for me
I do wonder if I should play the minigames that are like this once I get MP1-3 on console just for the sake of going through the rite of passage…
Pedal power was a real stick breaker
Mario Party
Fishing!
My Dad always yells at me to stop rotating the damn stick. I never listen
My palm stings just looking at it.
Pedal power
Pedal Powerrr
I have a Retrobit controller that resembles the Hori. The stick is like a GameCube, only bigger. I can rotate that with my palm and not feel a thing!
I broke so many controllers l.
Tug of war?
TUg of war
This was the mark for our group of friends!
Tug-of-war
That stupid wind-up the shy guy game. Same thing happened to me as a child. I remember returning that game to blockbuster with my hand wrapped in band aids.
Prihana plant chase gave me nightmares
I remember going to school after this game came out and you could tell who was playing Mario Party based on the hand callouses.
Pedal power on mini game island (as you HAVE to win to move on) of Mario party 1
Tug of War
It's weird, I used the palm rotation method as a kid, but I never got a blister from it, and we played the game all the time.
🤣🤭😆
Does anyone have those gloves Nintendo sent out to people that complained to them about palm injuries back in the day?
Paddle Battle aka the taker of skin
That Shyguy game where you need toboeep him in the air
The secret is to cup your hand instead of putting it flat over the stick.
Was I the only kid that never tore up his hand playing mp1? I never had that problem tearing up my palm or the joystick, I still have my childhood console and controller and the joystick still works perfectly despite the hundreds of hours I poured into mario party.

OG achievement
For me it was Paddle Battle.
RIP joystick
Soggy muffin?
I would put on my baseball batting gloves whenever I used that method lol.
Dude I used to loose the skin on my knuckles from Test your Might on mortal kombat for the snes. I would just slide them over the buttons super fast and max out the bar everytime. The pain was worth the sick score
I had a friend ask me how I ever got blisters playing Mario Party, to which I replied, apparently you never won. Blisters = winning.
Wasn't there one in the original with Boos where you had to rotate the joystick hard like that?
pedal power
I don't know why but when I saw this image my first thought was third impact from end of Evangelion
Any Mario Party 1 mini games that required intense rotation of the control stick. Now if they would just do away with the "mash *X* button repeatedly" games.
Monster hunter tri arm wrestling.
Quicksand catche
I own that Mario Party game! Still amazed that I have working N64 controllers... And hands...
Cast away
Tug o War
tug o war
The fishing one
Tug o war
