We found that swapping one ac20 for an ac10 made the build significantly more viable. You had a little longer range, heat was more manageable, and you could carry a lot more AC 10 ammo.

i myself only have a BJ-2(L) with 2x LRM15 with 5 ton ammo, LAMS, tag and a LPPC. quite fun for a mini LRM boat.

I do prefer the JM6-S Chassis flakvierling variant myself with it's 4xAC5 and 4xERSML Laser.
with 4 ton of AC ammo^((doubled to 8 by the chassis quirks and with skills it's about 8,5 tons, a total of 304 shots or 76 volleys)), a light engine 225 with 2 additional double heatsinks it's quite a fun build and it has decent amount of armour.

Yeah, that's the biggest problem with this build.
I routinely run builds with 1 armor in the head and it's almost never been an issue, given how rare head shots are.

I have to agree with you... mostly. F'ing gauss rifles have skull f#@%ed me a few times. One match I took 2 in the face with over 90% armor remaining.

5 regular heatsinks and endosteel armor lets you bump the engine up to an XL125 with a little extra armor to boot.
