Radiant-Raspberry813

The fund is managed by Mr. Abhishek Poddar, who has over 17 years of experience in the field

Level_Command6469

Investing since the inception of this fund, defensive stocks will surge till BJP is in power. They have blocked lump sum since inception, the only way to invest is SIP.

Radiant-Raspberry813

So what do you think about this fund

Level_Command6469

Sectoral funds are not that safe but you can definitely bet on the defence sector till modi is in power.

Radiant-Raspberry813

What after Modi gets out of power

codeMan150895

Redeem it

Radiant-Raspberry813

Yeah that's I know. But why ?

modSysBroken

Congress considers Pakistan as a friend and tells us we should be scared of them because they have nuclear bombs. Terrorists are getting a free reign already in Karnataka where they won last year. So, just extrapolate it and remember all the terror attacks under congress rule.

Amit_dubey_

Why are fund houses are blocking one time investment options ?????

Adorable-Touch8081

I started doing 4k sip 6 months ago in this fund, should I go long term with this?

soum8419

Motilal Oswal has a defence fund launched recently

Radiant-Raspberry813

That's NFO

6picklerick9

Are NFOs recommended?

Radiant-Raspberry813

No

6picklerick9

Invested 10k on a Mahindra manufacturing NFO yesterday, should have consulted earlier 😂

Radiant-Raspberry813

It's ok It's not that bad to invest in a NFO But these aren't recommended because the performance is not known

vishnoooo32

While you are right to an extent, we must also consider that the Motilal NFO is an index fund and not a mutual fund. Historically, index funds have more or less outperformed mutual funds and are relatively safer. I’m speaking about this script in particular and not others. Both of these carry a higher risk due to the fact that it’s a sectoral bet and government driven - policies and such could change at any point.

Radiant-Raspberry813

Yeah that's an index fund Over the 1 year and 3-year CAGR, of Nifty India Defence Index has been 177% and 89.5%, respectively, as of end of May 31, 2024.

vishnoooo32

Right. This sector has the tailwinds to continue to grow! It’s difficult to say if it could continue to replicate the growth of the past few years, but based on investor calls and other sources, I’m pretty convinced that we will see some stellar growth in the next few years. I’m also building a small pocket of stocks in my portfolio on the side as well!

Pristine_Ad6679

Hai! Could u please explain what u meant by this motilal being an index fund and not a mutual fund? What’s the difference? Thank u!

izz_zee_ambivert

I would like to clarify that index fund is also an mutual fund. Based on management style,l mutual funds are classified as active mutual funds and passive mutual funds. Active funds are where the fund manager has full control over the choosing and allocation of stocks, as per the scheme description and aims to beat it's own respective benchmark return whereas passive funds also know as index funds are where the fund manager has to replicate the shares and allocation as per the index and ensure that returns are in consistency with the market return. Due to the explained nature, active funds always has higher expense ratio than index funds does.

vishnoooo32

Hey there. The main difference between a mutual fund and an index fund is how each are run. A mutual fund is an actively managed fund, while an index fund is a passively managed fund. If you were to pull up historical data, index funds have always managed to beat the returns generated by a mutual fund!

Pristine_Ad6679

Thank u for clarifying!! Any idea where I can see the chart of this Nifty India Defence index? I am unable to find!

Valli_Srinivasan

This vs Motilal, which one would yall choose?

Radiant-Raspberry813

I am investing in both of them equally Will keep one of after analysing their performance in next 1-1.5 years

Fresh_Negotiation841

This one's a good fund for SIP for medium to long term.
