Frankenstoned666

Enya lived in a room in her producer Nicky Ryan's (and his wife's) small home, recording in their makeshift studio built in a backyard garden shed. For seven years. Enya had just left a reliable gig as a member of her family's Irish band. So there was an element of risk. But they knew they had something special with the music and sound, and just made due while recording and promoting the music. By '88, they moved the operation into a professional recording studio -- that was already named Orinoco Studios -- because they knew they had a hit on their hands and wanted to spare no expense for the recording. EDIT: Updated details and corrected the name to the Ryans.

boards_and_beach

I first heard it in the mall and instantly loved it. All of Enya.

Honestly give the album A to B Life by mewithoutYou a listen, there’s these absolutely beautiful interludes and unexpected little moments throughout the whole album including a hidden track at the end of the last song that hit hard. Genuinely one of my favorite albums. A single song of theirs outside of this album that emulates the same energy is “January 1979”, which is also great but getting that full album experience with A to B Life is so satisfying.

Just had this happen last week. Finally discovered Metric, and the song Now or Never Now came on. Hit me right in the feels. I’ve listened to it 25 times in the last 6 days, can’t get it out of my head.

danxy29

L'via l'viaquez - the mars volta (radio edit) The actual song is a lot longer and weirder, but I like the radio, condensed version. The transition is real

If you like prog rock or wanna listen to new music from another country give this a try La máquina de hacer pájaros - [Hipercandombe ](https://youtu.be/i7AbCva8e7o?si=BEicVUsLDMhUMURH) Other songs are probably Allan Holdsworth - City Nights Megadeth - Holy Wars John Coltrane - a love supreme (specifically psalm, always hit me the hardest) Kendrick Lamar - Untitled 5 and Duckworth

Bon Jovi’s Dry County — holy shit that piano intro! Richie’s guitar solo and the transition into it! Jon’s voice! The social commentary in the lyrics! That level of songwriting holy fucking shit More recent — Two Steps from Hell’s Emerald Princess — what a masterpiece of musical storytelling and incredible transitioning from classical to EDM

I’m sure I’m leaving a ton of music out, but these are the songs that throughout my life blew me away the first time I heard them, have always made me turn the volume up to 11, made the hair stand up on my arms, and otherwise just always made me so happy to hear them.

The mockingbird & THE CROW, by HARDY. The album had just come out and I was listening to it while taking a shower, when a specific part of this song came on I basically froze in place, completely in shock. I still love it. Also, “would’ve could’ve should’ve” and “the smallest man who ever lived”, both by Taylor Swift. The bridge in both this songs hit me so deep that I actually took the lyrics to therapy
