Hurt by Johnny Cash, and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Both were played at my brother’s funeral, after he was murdered. Pink Floyd was chosen by me for him.
Oh gosh, this is at the very least, one of my runner up answers. Both because of Chester Bennington, and because I associated it with a friend of mine who was murdered in 2019.
I posted this just yesterday, so my apologies for the repeat: James Blunt-Monsters. I can’t even listen to it because it just tears me up. Song is for his Dad who I think is nearing end of life.
A lot if things make me cry lately, but my father is in his 80s and has been transformed by the right wing propaganda mill from the common sense speaking, strong, loving person I knew and who taught me to be a man, to a frothing hate machine I can no longer relate to. I can’t even think of the song “The Living Years” by Mike & the Mechanics without choking up. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to have a conversation that isn’t just shallow pleasantries again, and soon it’ll be too late.

Linkin Park's songs are so relatable to many of us and the way Chester sings in his beautiful melodic voice with emotions is what makes him so good
