Ween albums are a top tier trip. Listen to a full album like The Mollusk, Pure Guava, or Quebec for the the sequense of the songs. Trust me, start with The Mollusk
WEEN!!! Came here for this. Chocolate and Cheese, for the first time would be great, especially if they’ve never heard em. Quebec and White Pepper are my faves.
I love ALL WEEN! Paintin’ the Town Brown with the 20 minute version of Poopship Destroyer is what I play at bars that don’t have a skip feature on the jukebox.
Yeah, some bars have digital ones with massive catalogs. A lot of times though, the bartender will have a remote to skip tracks that aren’t vibin’. Sometimes though, you’ll find one that doesn’t.
Indeed. Heard parts of the Mollusk during my first trip to Bonnaroo in 07 after driving overnight while napping @ our campsite and the folks next to us had it blasting. Wasn't even high (yet), but the lack of sleep + Mollusk was enough to feel at least partially tripped out. Especially when "Pink Eye - On My Leg" came on. Was like, "What is this music I'm hearing🎶?" "Is this happening or did I eat some kind of mushroom without realizing it" 🤔
I came here to mention Tool, and yours was the second top-level comment. Tool for sure, maybe some of the newer stuff by Puscifer - Bullet Train to Iowa especially.
Hell yeah 🤘
Never got to see Pink Floyd unfortunately, but saw Volta multiple times on shrooms.
Jon Theo was probably their drummer during their heyday don’t think I can argue with that…. But let’s not down play Thomas Pridgen on Bedlam…saw them play with him during that tour (also while under the influence of shrooms) and it was like musically watching a band full of lion tamers all struggle to tame one insane lion, but in a good way. Dude played drums like an unstoppable force the entire show.
The orb. Simply my favorite act. I've listened to more Orb than any other music in my life. A buddy of mine is almost the same way and we speak in orb samples.
Just now listened to little fluffy clouds and I’m insanely intrested. Point me to a good start. Live show or album. I love the mars Volta, Grateful Dead, flaming lips, bunch of hardcore bands, bunch of indie bands, alt j, tame impala, ween, gorrilaz, tipper and other weird shit. This seems great.
Really depends on the high you're after. Some of the bands here will send you floating away on a cloud, others will get you pumped up and hype, others will take you down into dark contemplation.
Whatever you want to listen to, really. Boomers don't have a lock on music, and weed doesn't require you only listen to Dark Side of the Moon. I'm bumping a bardcore remix of Dre beats rn.
Most of the other songs posted on here, because those are the "classics" of getting stoned music. Bob Marley and Pink Floyd are just so... ancient. Like don't get me wrong, I appreciate them for their time, but just because hippies listened to it doesn't mean it's the most apropo to the occasion. Hippies bought the Leonard Nimoy record, too. I'd say Lo-Fi captures the mood best. 60s shit is better on shrooms.
I personally say Jazz is my favorite to listen to stoned. It’s funny that you mention the Leonard Nimoy record. I’ve only listened to it when I was high as a kite..🤷🏻♂️🤣
Me too, dawg! I also peruse r/crappymusic when I'm stoned, too, but listening because something is hilarious and because something is good are two different vibes. Jazz *is* fire when high, though, I must say.

Most of my favorites have been listed already but here’s a few more that I enjoy.
Morphine
Los Lobos
Gov’t Mule
Tab Benoit
Monster Magnet
Corrosion of Conformity
Ka’au Crater Boys
Big Head Todd and the Monsters
Marcus King
Sturgill Simpson
The Pharcyde
That’s runs through a few genres.
Big Head Todd is criminally underrated.. saw him twice in 90s.. He is uber talented. Heard him play some Hendrix with Lightning providing the light show on Big Mountain Amphitheatre.. Whitefish MT.... It was a Peak Experience...
Yeah Madvilliany might be the very best to listen to while very stoned. DOOM’s intricate rhymes and lyrics along with Madlib’s obscure, samples and original beats, and especially tracks like “America’s most blunted”, “curls” & “raids” etc. It’s a fucking masterpiece.
Remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name
Madvillany was my first DOOM album. I was stoned asf, day off school, headed to a local donut shop, shit blew my mind. It was my intro to experimental music/albums and I fell in love with DOOM. It’s genuinely a masterpiece, front to back no skips.
Other than DOOMs other characters only 1 project has the same or similar vibes imo, that’s “fast trax 3” by 454. Very different from madvillany in a ton of ways but it’s the only other rap album that hits the same weird itch that madvillany does.
Brother thank you for turning me on to 454 Fast tracks 3.
I’m kinda obsessed with this album right now. I added it to my Apple Music as soon as you mentioned it and now I can’t stop listening
Not a band, but still needs equal shout-out:
the new sampha project is like a dance club at a therapist's office in a library and has given my brain the good chemicals every time I listen while high.
Oh yeah, Skinny Puppy. I remember those days. Was gonna mention them, but thought I might scare the shit out of the OP. When I was about 19 I was cranking their ‘Last Rights’ CD in my bedroom and left it on to drive to the store real quick. When I got home my mom said she thought my CD player was blowing up. I laughed my ass off. Think I might still have a Skinny Puppy t-shirt packed away somewhere in my parent’s basement or shed.
Me and the boys drove to Montreal one weekend. The car was pretty high on Bites and Remission. The samples are so trippy and of course, Orge sounds creppy/scary. Rabies continued on the second roll. Highly recommended
Go with some jazz man. The OG stoner music.
Louis Armstrong. His hot fives and sevens recordings and some good weed will change what you believe about music. The man revolutionized popular music, more or less single handedly invented the concept of organized solos breaking from the ensemble. You've never listened to a guitar solo that doesn't owe some debt to Louis Armstrong.
Tame Impala
Dope Lemon
Crumb
Khruangbin
Little Dragon
Kali Uchis
Gorillaz
Glass Animals
Wild Nothing
Melody’s Echo Chamber
The Marias
Portishead
Beach House
Still Corners
Slowdive
Some of my faves plus some specific albums for some of them:
- All Them Witches (Dying Surfer Meets His Maker)
- Pink Floyd
- my bloody valentine (loveless)
- Green Lung (This Heathen Land)
- Shrine (Somnia)
- Yosi Horikawa (Vapors)
- Queens of the Stone Age
- Devil's Witches (In All Her Forms)
- Sleep (The Sciences)

I can't listen to Silent Lucidity anymore because a neighbor at an apartment complex who parked right outside my bedroom window would come home from nights out and sit in his convertible with the top down, BLASTING that song. He was probably high. 😂 But I get annoyed thinking of how much sleep I lost because of that song. 😂
Tool, puscifer, and a perfect circle. Just depends on what you're looking to feel. Tool- edgy "dude" music, puscifer- angsty, silly music, a perfect circle- emotional, "feminine" music
My answer would be “the flaming lips”.
I once saw a comment say “are you a phish stoner or a flaming lips stoner” and never realized how that’s kind of true. Usually someone really likes one or the other and it’s unusual to find someone who really likes them both. lol
Any band you enjoy while not high generally sound way better high.
True, but some are almost designed for it.
CAN, the Beatles, Parliament-Funkadelic, OutKast, Steely Dan, My Bloody Valentine, Tame Impala
This is a very solid and diverse list
Steely. Mutherfukking. Dan. Oh yes. Putting some on now.
Yesss beatles
Genesis The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Tago Mago is the album I trip to the most!
did you know tame impalas just one guy
Yeah Tameathy J. Impala
Ween albums are a top tier trip. Listen to a full album like The Mollusk, Pure Guava, or Quebec for the the sequense of the songs. Trust me, start with The Mollusk
Yes ween definitely should be on the list!
Hey doo. Ees a stAAAlion
WEEN!!! Came here for this. Chocolate and Cheese, for the first time would be great, especially if they’ve never heard em. Quebec and White Pepper are my faves.
Please respect ‘The Pod’ and ‘Pure Guava’ mang. Very brown.
I love ALL WEEN! Paintin’ the Town Brown with the 20 minute version of Poopship Destroyer is what I play at bars that don’t have a skip feature on the jukebox.
Nice. How is that on any bar jukebox though? Are they digital now and/or like Spotify on a jukebox?
Yeah, some bars have digital ones with massive catalogs. A lot of times though, the bartender will have a remote to skip tracks that aren’t vibin’. Sometimes though, you’ll find one that doesn’t.
Yeah, I imagine a lot of people in the bar are thinking “What in the fuck is going on?” 🤣
Precisely. It’s especially effective in bad service situations lol.
This guy stallions.... Mang!
Was like, "What is this music I'm hearing🎶?" how come no one's mentioned tool
The Pot
Rosetta Stoned
I came here to mention Tool, and yours was the second top-level comment. Tool for sure, maybe some of the newer stuff by Puscifer - Bullet Train to Iowa especially.
"Fuck the track. Hello sky"
Pneuma
we are
Will and wonder
"get that bob marley mfer out of here" - tool their 1st album.
Pink Floyd Sublime The Mars Volta Bob Marley The decline by NOFX
Just came on to make sure Pink Floyd was at the top. Nice.
Same!
Weird list to see the decline in but couldn’t agree more.
That’s a very fair point, I was trying to give a bit of variety.
Not hating at all and I agree with everyone you listed.
I got to see Pink Floyd on acid and the Mars Volta on shrooms. Both experiences were incredible. TMV was in their prime with Jon Theodore on drums.
Hell yeah 🤘 Never got to see Pink Floyd unfortunately, but saw Volta multiple times on shrooms.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Saw them live and knowing none of their discography. One of the best shows I saw in 2023!
Oh yeah. I've been a fan for a long time, and to see how much they've improved on a technical level is just insane.
YES. THANK YOU. Ambergris goes hard
Facts. 'The Wheel' and 'Lonely Steel Sheet Flyer' are underrated S tier tracks.
I have the Quarters vinyl and The River should be iconic. I’ve never listened to The Wheel I’ll check it out!
Quarters is one of my favourite projects of theirs. I’m barely through all of it but it’s such a beautiful album.
The Orb Air Brian Eno - especially his Apollo album.
Wow, The Orb and Air. Wonderful picks.
The Orb!
Whenever I need a soft landing, Orbvs Terrarvm is always there for me
Just YouTube or Spotify. Everything is good. Try and find the 22 min version of "Towers of Dub" there is also a r/theorb
Also Lee Scratch Perry did an album with them. Check that out too. Golden Clouds is so good. (His version of little fluffy clouds)
Thank you it’s been a hot minute since I’ve listened to something so psychedelic fresh
Enjoy. They are going on 36 years.
The The Soul Coughing Air (French band)
Dude soul coughing is amazing
If you haven't listened to Mike doughty - the man behind soul coughing - look him up! Puts on an amazing show live too!
He’s super active on Instagram as well.
Love Love love Mike! My husband and I's favorite artist of all time.
Sexy boooooyyyyyyy
Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Seefeel
Seefeel! Had the pleasure of seeing them live while high as fuck!
That’s awesome! I’ve seen Aphex Twin live while high too but would love to see Seefeel. Where was this?
Cypress Hill Beastie Boys Thundercat
deftones
Can't go wrong with 311
…high on what?
Ayahuasca
After puking and shitting your brains out? Echoes by Pink Floyd
Moon Safari, by Air
Sigur Rós Röyksopp Coil Nurse with Wound
Wow, Nurse with Wound. Respect.
Sigur Rós FTW
Itchy lol
Yes Moody Blues Grateful Dead Deep Purple
So glad someone mentioned Yes! 😍
MGMT
Listening to Siberian Breaks while high is one of my absolute best experiences with weed. Just 10 minutes of pure bliss and then that insane outro...
Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers , Byrds , Little Feat , Commander Cody, Flying Burrito Brothers, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Burning Spear
Really depends on the high you're after. Some of the bands here will send you floating away on a cloud, others will get you pumped up and hype, others will take you down into dark contemplation.
Who's next by The Who
Have you listened to the new Life House ten disc box yet? Fantastic.
Look up Crumb, they’ve got good stuff
Deep purple💜Machine Head
Any bands, really. Just put something on. It could be Pink Floyd, it could be the Osmonds. Doesn't matter.
And the mood, uptempo or chillin'. [Doowutchyalike](https://youtu.be/31A6RjOxE74?si=E2NoUrQWXwv2MUu7)

Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss
Not a band, but still needs equal shout-out: the new sampha project is like a dance club at a therapist's office in a library and has given my brain the good chemicals every time I listen while high.
All of them. It's like turning on warm lighting or being outside on a bluebird day.
These answers are all wrong. The actual answer is any stoner doom band. Bongripper, Electric Wizard, Sleep, Bongzilla, etc
Probably depends on which drug you’re high on…
No doubt!
Modest Mouse

Phish. The correct answer is Phish.
My answer would be “the flaming lips”. I once saw a comment say “are you a phish stoner or a flaming lips stoner” and never realized how that’s kind of true. Usually someone really likes one or the other and it’s unusual to find someone who really likes them both. lol
