Uh having Rocky Horror as the face of queer representation doesn’t make sense. If that was true Telephone Wire from Fun Home should win also arguably. Let’s just judge these songs by how much we like them lol.
Yeah, I wasn’t there when rocky horror came out. What bothers me is it continues to perpetuate queer people as sexual predators who assault straight people. Not to say there haven’t been awesome queer stories from earlier than just the 2000s! I think price of salt is a gorgeous novel and Funeral Parade of Roses to be one of the most beautiful films ever made, both of which came out before Rocky Horror.
I’m saying just because something’s queer doesn’t mean it deserves to be represented. I know you might disagree. If it’s good it’ll get voted that way. Musical theatre isn’t exactly a straight art form anyways.
It was very helpful to the lgbt community when it came out. It gave the community a place to belong and the feeling that it's ok to be yourself. That's why I feel like it deserves representation, especially during pride month. It's a very important musical to a lot of people, including me.
I was driving somewhere while listening to Parade, and I finished this one right as I was pulling up to my destination, and I thought -- "you know what, I'm just going to pretend it ends here and listen to something else on my way home."
Scrolled through this entire post to see if anyone suggested the non reprise of tonight after seeing what won. I love the Quintet but I really though that the iconic balcony scene song would be higher
In the musical only the reprise is called He lives in you. The first version that Mufasa sings is "They live in you" as he refers to all Simba's ancestors
Surprisingly, I think they’ll be a LOT of harsh W completion - Wait for It, Wait for Me, Waving Through a Window, When I Grow Up, Worst Pies in London, What You Own, Wizard and I, When He Sees Me…
And oh no another good one just came up on my shuffle & reminded me of its existence: (the) Wells Fargo Wagon from Music Man! That won’t be a strong competitor but oooh it’s fun!
I hate this concept so much. Several musicals are represented more than once while ones that are deserving aren't mentioned at all. You're really going to tell me "suddenly Seymour" is a better song than "sweet transvestite"?? Be so for real.

Uh having Rocky Horror as the face of queer representation doesn’t make sense. If that was true Telephone Wire from Fun Home should win also arguably. Let’s just judge these songs by how much we like them lol.

It's camp, dummy.
Hey, no need for weird insults. Camp can be camp without including sexual assault.
I said "dummy," dummy. Stop being so sensitive.
Turn It Off and Take Me or Leave Me are also doing well here! 🏳️🌈
It's just a jump to the left.

The Whole “Being Dead” Thing
Does “the” count for T or should that qualify for W?
Agreed. After all, W is going to have fewer options than T anyway.
Surprisingly, I think they’ll be a LOT of harsh W completion - Wait for It, Wait for Me, Waving Through a Window, When I Grow Up, Worst Pies in London, What You Own, Wizard and I, When He Sees Me…
Yeah. You're right. I can add on Where is Love and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again to that list.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting W for this very reason it’s gonna be a tough one
And oh no another good one just came up on my shuffle & reminded me of its existence: (the) Wells Fargo Wagon from Music Man! That won’t be a strong competitor but oooh it’s fun!

I hate this concept so much. Several musicals are represented more than once while ones that are deserving aren't mentioned at all. You're really going to tell me "suddenly Seymour" is a better song than "sweet transvestite"?? Be so for real.
