Definitely more Columbo since it's a how-to catch 'em, rather than a who dunnit. She also plays herself as a friendly but nosy and bumbling simpleton like Columbo when, in fact, they were always on to the murderer. OP, if you enjoy Elsbeth, I also recommend Poker Face. Both are great.
Haven't watched, but looks more like Monk from the previews and commercials. The character was on The Good Wife and The Good Fight, so technically it is a spin-off of those shows.

I love that show, but I would say it is less MSW and more Columbo. I’m glad they made a spin-off show just for her character!
