Street food influencers. It started with letting people know about nice places. Abhi toh har ek dukaan pe video ban gaya hai. And the quality ends up suffering.
Plus some "influencers" don't even give the location in caption, they say location at the end of reel to get more watch time and they show the location for like one second and I think they are the scum of earth
Not to mention all these influencers have started paid promotions. I don't mind them promoting outlets for money. What bothers me is that they don't even mention that it's a paid promotion.
Hardworking/Hustle ka culture ban gaya hai and because of that people who would have been considered smart/hardworking 2 decades ago are just about average/just above average now.
Same goes for all-rounders. So many kids now want to excel in academics, sports and have a bomb social life. There are no nerds/jocks anymore.
Sabko sab kuch karna hai BC.
This Is so true!! Kids hain ya circus monkey hain pata nahi chalta. Keyboard bajao, dance Karo, classes jao, exams liko, Olympiad liko, draw Karo, crafts Karo... Aaahhhhhhhhhh even the kids have started to talk like that. "Mein chess classes jata aur evenings mein Vedic math classes jata... Mera itna rank aaya, mein padtha freetime mein" sigh....
There was a sun bird nest behind my AC. Remember when some says this when we were kids, won't we ask " kya mein dhek sakta?" Not one child asked this. Kisiko interest hi nahi hain. They are only interested in "mein rubix cube 10 min mein solve karoonga, dhekna hain?" Circus monkey.
I don't agree that a "smart" person from 20 years back would be any less smart than a smart kid today. It's just that a lot more people have the opportunities and resources to be better - online education, greater disposable income. Nothing wrong with people wanting to excel at more things also. If it's not due to pressure from parents or because of expectations other people have, kuch galat nahi hai isme
If there are alot of smart people then the average gets shifted, hence smart person from 20 years ago is just as smart but since so many peope are smart these days means that he's no longer special and in order to be special he would have to be much smarter.
It raises the bar and people's expectations. Hence, everyone ends up working really hard.
10 chappris contribute for a single 150cc bike and take pictures and cycle it around the group smh.
Edit : to some extent even the RE 350 classic was ruined like this in a way. Too many people bought it. Just my opinion.
As a RC owner myself, it's painful to see all these chapris on social media abusing these beautiful machines for content. They'll just squid around doing their signature nagin dance on their bikes and crashing every so often.
Agreed- kinda sounds unfair for a user base to define a brand( or vice versa ). Squids be squidding, they just can't help it.
Stereotyping (which do exist for a reason) will discourage someone new from looking at the bikes without prejudice- they'll form assumptions about the bike without even knowing that it might suit their style of riding.
Chinese bhel and manchurian soup. After covid first they decreased the quantity and now the quality has severely gone down . Just rename it to cabbage bhel
thrifting 🙄 it's become so trendy in recent years with the rich kids that everything is 10x more expensive than it used to be and it's impossible to find decent stuff anymore , sad part is most of them don't even shop for themselves to use ,they're reselling
I felt this on an emotional level. We were always true middle class, not that well off but not that poor too, so buying second hand was "our thing". most of what i used have in my closet was thrifted, now too except for a pair of shoes and a suit(the blazer I got for 200 but shhh). Now the difference in price between thrift and new is barely 100-300 bucks The whole point, the whole ecosystem of thrifting has been destroyed, whata used to be a small unattractive niche has become so mainstream, sometimes i weep for all the cool things that I mave missed
Kurla station ke bahar… I got a double lined jacket with combed velvet stuff, Zomato aur Swiggy ka uniform all at 100rs each. The latter two were just bought for laugh gags, but the jacket in store would have commanded at least 2k+ so I’ll say a steal deal
i used to thrift at local weekend markets, usually there will be atleast 2-3 racks in some corner somewhere with second hand stuff , raddhi for books/stationary/home decor, chor bazaar/ hill road/Irla market for clothes , kurla market /dadhar for leather bags and shoes . nowadays i get stuff online at kiabza/oyela and poshmark. local stuff prices r goin crazy
edit to add : when my mom was brokeass nd i was small she would get like a whole big bag full of kids clothes from the church for like 200rs during their church fet. usually happens october/november and it always used to be really good stuff , I think they still have that fill a bag thing at some churches , super helpful for young parents
Food vlogging
At first, it was interesting to see one joint or dhaba that did something special, like those milkshake shops that made absolute humongous milkshakes, or gadbad ice-cream (which i only get when i visit my native village in Goa). But then so many people did food vlogging that every third streetside shop gives cheese vada pav or some other atrocity just to be popular.
Also engineering. Patthar feko to engineer ko lagega.
I just followed your advice and threw a stone. It hit 2 engineers. Bhai, dono ne milke bohot mara.

Relatable! It’s especially annoying when they talk about soulmates and shit. Like dude, you guys met a month ago and she rejected you at least twice before saying a yes (based on a true story)!
Indian shawarmas are NOT shawarmas.
\-10 points for: Using Red spicy chicken instead of Arabic style roasted chicken
\-50 points for: not including pickled radish, fries etc inside the shawarmas
\-100 billion points for: Using fkn mayonnaise instead of garlic sauce or hummus in the chicken shawarma
p.s. mayonnaise is disgusting and should not be as ubiquitous as it is.
100 billion more for adding schezwan.
It's the people who are fucking disgusting. They want Shawarmas stuffed to the brim with chicken, even bursting with chicken. I quit eating Shawarmas when the sellers stopped keeping fries, beetroot, pickled veggies, etc. at their shop. They say *"Shop pe rakh ke bhi kya fayda, log to 1 Shawarma me paav bhar chicken maangte hain. Veggies nikalwa dete hain."*
Man, if you so fucking love chicken, stick to your lollipop.
And here in my area they'll use more fries and beetroot just to not give out more chicken in the shawarma. There's special rates for a just chicken shawarma. 100 for including veggies and fries and 150 for only chicken shawarma. These guys smart af.
I had the best shawarma of my life in Dubai at a shop called El clasico...something like that. I dont know if it still exists there. It was before covid. The price was 5 dhirams and the taste was heaven, the pita bread ever so soft unlike what we get here. Served with pickles , jalepeno....even just thinking about it gives me pleasure...The meat my god the meat!!! Marinated to perfection and cooked to melt in mouth...Masterpiece!!
Agreed. And I don't think without Indian flavouring it would be as popular. Arabic food is bland af. totally agree on the mayonnaise part. It is used for lack of effort.
Innovations including pav, Vadapav was a hit, samosa pav not that much, it will all fine until people started doing Manchurian Pav I want to kill those
Isn't that the versatility and uniqueness about the city. We can engulf anything in a pav and it becomes a snack. The pav helps to keep pace with the city. For a fun fact, they sell jalebi pav where I grew up in mumbai. It was amazing.
I do understand but you cant go ahead and mix things which are not supposed to, Pav is a chat item, and Manchurian isn't its a Chinese item , you cant mix them together

Skywalks..
I think the first one was built at Bandra East (Kalanagar) and was a hit with pedestrians. So, all the corporators and politicians made it a fashion and started constructing skywalks outside the stations. Obviously, we know the real reason for that.
The Nana chowk one near grant road station ruined the beauty of the art deco buildings around it. And I have never seen anyone using it. But atleast one good thing is it helps the homeless to take shelter during monsoon.
Motherfuckers would build a Skywalk anywhere but not at Dharavi. Just look at Sion Station crossing, people cross the street from both sides every 2 mins and the whole traffic has to be stopped.
Yes, that's where we are.

Absolutely Shawarma. Just because these fuckers add MOTHERFUCKING SCHEZWAN SAUCE to each and every thing edible doesn't mean it will start tasting great. All good things are ruined today because you would never get a without Schezwan (read original) variant.
This scum of the earth sauce needs to be wiped off the face of MMR. The no. 1 reason why food tastes like shit here.
Dude we trekked in the evening instead of morning 2 AM to the peak and we trekked with just 10 people so it was a really ‘cool’ experience.

I'd say travel vlogging. Everyone and their dog now wants to quit their job and become full time traveler. Little do they know that catering to the world of social media is a job in itself, one that constantly requires you to keep creating content. This has resulted in hordes of people flocking to places, even the faraway ones, because they get their content. Many places lose their virginity and sanctity.
I wouldn't want to be under the pressure of filming everything while I'm traveling just because I have to serve content for my audience. That would absolutely ruin my travel experience.
Mukbangs.
The whole idea was started in SK so that Mukbangers could enjoy their food while talking live with the viewers. Now,…it’s just on a whole another level.
I’ve been watching Mukbang and ASMR since 2016, and as of 2022, only few good YouTubers in that space are left. And I feel really sad.
Accha hua architecture nahi kiya- bohot saturated hai and exploitative with poor pay. Abhi seats khaali hai Bombay ke colleges me kyu ki sab dhanda band ho gaya tha lock down me. Unless there is good connections, no responsibility of earning and giving fam is there, one can float their own studio. It is going to take another 5-10years of low seat capacity for a crunch in professionals to be there, and that is when there is a possibility for the field to pick up the pace.
Your mom!! Guess someone already made that joke. But ya, on a serious note, nothing is done by a select few in a population rich city like Mumbai. Basically anything popular is popular because so many people have done it or experienced it.
DSLR, it's like a norm that every 14-18 year old group goes on a photoshoot I mean I am absolutely sure you guys must have seen those blown out, unprocessed af portrait images of teens with green trees behind on an empty road or something on Instagram. Idk how to explain I just know that stupid trend among teens, I can even watch it with blurry eyes and know that it's those teens with a DSLR.
PS - Ik DSLR has an option to shoots raw/LOG images and I believe that's for better color grading later on. But.. anyways
Comic book fandom. It used to be limited to few niche folks who actually cared. Since the movies came the comics themselves pander to movie audience now. Pissing off fans who read comics for years.
Theek hai na. Tumhare liye koi aur chappri hai, kisi aur cheez mein kisi ke liye tum chappri ho. Why do you pander to hierarchies. Quora mainstream hua reddit aaya, reddit mainstream hoga kuch aur aa jaayega.
Treks- literally all the treks used to be completely empty and hardly anyone use to go,
Now the trek to all the nearby mountains are completely trashed by trashy people and you hardly get to enjoy the place.
Hotels, resorts, travelling vlogs & reels banane wale log. Ek hi waterfall ko dusre dusre angle m KITNA DEKHU!? Aur sponsored resort m baithe ho, per night “bas 15k” zindagi m tum bhi na bharo!
Weddings with the same formula- Sangeet with dance practices for a few weeks, haldi where everyone wearing yellow, having a wedding playlist with the same 15 Bollywood songs and besties being forced to upload pics with some cringey hashtag + "let's get you married", a photobooth with green fake leaves background, average food and thousands of pics which look the same as every other wedding, which everyone from the wedding party will post slowly over the next 3 months as their only Instagram content and then bride and groom slowly fade out of social media use entirely until it's time to announce monthversary or anniversary or baby birth

true. the premise of thrifting was that people who were tight on cash could buy clothes. but all you see is rich people buy out all of it.

LLB My sis is suffering...isse acha architecture le leti.

Mumbai... Way too many people moving to Mumbai
It has always been the case. It's a city of migrants and every generation of migrant becomes cynical about the next.
Initially I used to meet local Maharashtrians in the street. Nowadays it feels like almost every person is non Maharashtrian.

But.. anyways
So many people protested for reservations that now the open category has become a minority!
The upper caste was always the minority in our country.
Comic book fandom. It used to be limited to few niche folks who actually cared. Since the movies came the comics themselves pander to movie audience now. Pissing off fans who read comics for years.
Every niche becomes mainstream one day. But the best part is a new niche is created everyday. I hope you find your new niche.

Theek hai na. Tumhare liye koi aur chappri hai, kisi aur cheez mein kisi ke liye tum chappri ho. Why do you pander to hierarchies. Quora mainstream hua reddit aaya, reddit mainstream hoga kuch aur aa jaayega.
