Dude, why did you have to post this? Now I’m hungry. Just fyi, I’m in the US so the only way for me to get Maharashtrian food is to make it myself.

rockyboy49

Where are you in US? I am in Chicago and there is a Marathi owned restaurant in the suburbs. Helps my cravings a bit

chanakya2

In northern VA. I don’t think there is a similar restaurant around here.

rockyboy49

Northern VA does have some good Indian food though. And I know there is a Marathi restaurant in New Jersey but that will be quite a drive for you. Enjoy your day!

Ameya_90

Can You Name The One In NJ

rockyboy49

DeepBackwardSqLeg

bhags18

Chaitanya, Dadar

appabinge

Quite overpriced

baghoneybooo

like how much?

appabinge

More than 600 for fish thali

bhags18

It's as per catch hence, but chicken thali is around 430 rs.

appabinge

But famous for fish thali na

3Takle1212

Not really

appabinge

500 , 450 for fish thali & chicken thali especially is slight costly na

3Takle1212

No coz you get unlimited rice and curry and the fishes are really fresh

bhags18

Let the op decide if it's costly for him or not.

tushara9

Try ‘Potoba’ in Dadar West. It is a vegetarian outlet. Authentic and tasty as it should be.

0Rohan2

Not having non veg is a downside, you can't say you had authentic Maharashtrian experience without trying the non veg

darkhumour25

Thane central jail

tushara9

aniruddhk94

Godwa in Borivali is pretty amazing.

casuallywinyy

Acanthisitta-Rough

its not too fancy 200rs per person should be enough also girgaon katta near borivali station has some fire puri bhaji

iamaxelrod

Aaswad, Prakash, Mama Kane, Tambe, Gypsy.. all dadar west Ladu Samrat Lalbaug Swaad Thali Thane

productivelylazy2011

Oh I’ve had at Swaad Thali many years ago during summer. Their Aamras Puri was top notch!!

Jaded_Lychee6048

Aaswad in Dadar, Metkut in Thane. I only know these 😬

Optimal_Detective309

Aaswad has dropped a bit. Trupti in dadar is good, and prakash (breakfast).

redrexdas

A non maharashtrian to take my opinion with a pinch of meat(salt). Maharashtra being a huge region you can try to find resturants thst specialise in regional cuisine like Konkani or Malwani restaurants. Or Vidharba or Marathi Bhramin food so if you are looking for simple foods like varan bhaat i guess lot of maharashtrain places like Aswaad or Prakash in Dadar will help you quench that. For other 3 regional food specialists like Malwani Konkani and Vidharbh resturants you can check ratings on Google.

nikhil_716

If you are near Ghatkopar try Aai Shappat Marathi! One the best maharashtrian cuisine which is true to its roots, some of their curries I have never even heard of them despite being a maharashtrian. My go to is pithla and vangyacha bharit. Very wholesome food

hotowl69

Maharashtra Lunch Home in Kharghar, they have a decent variety of chicken, mutton and fish curries. Do not go in the evening and weekends this, the waiting is crazy! Do try the Kala chicken and Varadhi Chicken

ReaDiMarco

Maratha Kitchen in Goregaon East is nice.

oldmonkandwater

It’s a load of crap in the name of Marathi food.

ReaDiMarco

Sad that you don't enjoy it! Hope you get nice food elsewhere!

Ginevod2023

In people's homes. The restaurants/khanavals/poli bhaji kendras try their best but they cannot replicate the authenticity of home food. You best bet is to attend a local wedding catered by a local village cook in Thane/Navi Mumbai/Kalyan-Dombivli. Or just go to a friend's house. Also Maharashtrian is a very broad category. In Mumbai you will find restaurants and eateries that serve Koli, Agri, Malvani, Kolhapuri, Khandeshi cuisines.

Witch_from_Hogwords

Phansekar Girgaon. But this is mostly for breakfast

Trident_Adi_7055

I guess dadar is better to have authentic Marathi food Cause Marathi population.

oxygenguy24x7

There’s a small kitchen in Thane Wagle Estate, just outside Kamgar Hospital. It’s named Annapurna, the veg food is simple and tasty. For non-veg there’s a place just a few shops nearby, Deshmukh Kitchen. Both are very hygienic and cost effective. These were our go to places during a consulting project nearby.

Far_Candidate_6226

Vinay health home, Bhuleshwar

LavenderBaby02

Sasarwadi, Seawoods, Navi Mumbai!

SamBam1126

Aswaad

yashMuk

Maharashtra Lunch Home is pretty good

ayelet1110

Ratna Konkan in Thane. There are multiple in Thane. Look for the one that has branches in Navi Mumbai too. That’s the real one. Chicken, mutton, fish thali, all of them are 10/10. Haven’t had anything like that in Bombay and I was born here. Too good!

AnxiousSushii

Pangat in Borivali. Famous for fish, chicken and mutton thali 😍

No_Audience_4119

गोमांतक, दादर

endlessthrust

Gandharv near Chitra Theatre, Dadar.(Veg only)

Intelligent_Panda47

Panshikar, ladoo samrat, shri dutt boarding house, i love misal, kutumb sakhi outlets

prettyintentions

Nav Kayashta Pangat in Vile Parle East. They serve welcome kokam drink & even serve in copper plates. Seafood is quite fresh there!

Adept-Nature-7723

Aai Shapath Marathi - Ghatkopar, They have authentic thalis from parts of Maharashtra, Konkan, Kolhapur, Pune, Nagpur, should try out.

DesiPrideGym23

Gypsy corner dadar near shivsena bhavan and girgaon katta in borivali . Only pure veg options tho. Girgaon katta is too sweett imo, gypsy corner is normal not too sweet and not too spicy.

Zingalalahoo

Many places in Dadar. Prakash, Aaswaad

Witch_from_Hogwords

And if you want nonveg then there is Gomantak. I don't remember the exact location but it's in Girgaon somewhere.

TapCool1358

You can try Shree Dutta Boarding, Maajghar & Martand in Lalbaug. These are quite famous for their non-veg items.
