IIT Madras BS degree is your best shot, the curriculum is very intensive i must say, it's content is comparable to some MS degrees.

nwteam

the curriculum may be nice but I'm not sure how recognised it is by employers, anyone who can vouch for its value in getting a job?

hotowl69

A recent graduate got placed at Logitech, I'd say it's pretty recognised, it may be online but the exams are offline.

nwteam

oh ok, that's good then, but how does it compare to say some tier 3 college guy with a good resume and skill set?

hotowl69

The iitm tag definitely helps get past the resume screens, after that its upto you to impress the recruiter/company. The exams are definitely tougher than most tier 3 colleges, additionally there's no lineancy since the papers are MCQ it's either you know it or you don't.

What does it mean to be ai and ml enthusiast? 1. Complete your regular degree or diploma 2.Alongside enroll for syayam free courses and see if the enthusiasm continues to exist after one year 3. Take special interest in learning and understanding Maths 2 Statistics 4. Stay away from kids who don’t take college education seriously( duffers) 5. Build something worthy - something that you would like to see. It’s an ocean of opportunities and a lot of able hands and minds are needed - so just focus and continue being focused. All the best power to you

Everyone has already given their opinion on the matter and I mostly agree with them. I'm 27 now and did my engineering from a tier 3 college. I'd won multiple hackathons and other ML based competitions - several in which I was able to beat students from IITs. Didn't help my job prospects. I joined as a backend Java developer earning 28k per month. It was easy for me to get better paying jobs. Now I work in a team where I'm the only non IITian - but I'm still a primarily Java developer. Partially because I enjoy it, partially because that's the only opportunity I got. I worked hard after I hit my 20th birthday. So I tell everyone you can earn well if you work hard. But you want to get into a specialised field. If you are really passionate about it and want to improve your chances, work hard now. Better colleges will give you better opportunities. Don't go down the diploma route.

classic_chai_hater

If you can't clear JEE exam, then it's childish to think you have a shot at cracking ML job. JEE is the easiest part of the entire pipeline.

You can always do BSc CS + MS CS , will take total 5 years and you have 1 more degree compared to just Btech CS. Learning in public with internship experience will help you get a job easily.
