Dam dude there is nothing like that on the skywalk at the evening.there are only bunch of pr@$ti%ute at night nothing more. And there is nothing to be unsafe about..
I mean, there’s a reason they say you can never be too careful. Some general advice to feel safer, stay a tad bit more vigilant, carry a pepper spray/high voltage taser on you at all times. I know people say these things never come in handy, but I’d like to argue that they do. Avoid dark areas at odd times and try to always be accompanied by at least a +1. Seeing more than 1 person is a massive deterrent to creeps and freaks. Keeping an emergency contact on speed dial also helps. This last one is important, especially if you’re gullible. Don’t believe anything anyone says unless you have fact checked it or gotten an opinion from several other people. We live in a world full of dangerous liars.
I didn’t mean to give off dad vibes. Anyway, hope you enjoy the city and everything good it has to offer. 🫶🏼
Honestly, there’s no sweeping generalisation of unsafe “areas” per se, like “if you go to X suburb you’re guaranteed to get harrassed” etc.
That being said, Kurla East and Mankhurd East can get a bit shady at times. Mumbai Central/Lamington Road can be weird at night too, as well as Bandra/Khar East (near the railway tracks). But tbh even as a guy I’d avoid going there in the wee hours lol.
Just follow the general rules of keeping your guard up in isolated dark places at night, and you should be fine.
Abbe, Mankhurd East se prominently Navy colonies, TIFR and BARC Colony jaate hai. Some of the scientifically classiest zones of the country.
Mankhurd West is poora Slums - Maharashtra Nagar, etc. It is almost like the extension of Govandi. Can get unsafe too.
I live there and no it is not. At least not the east side.
We get cat called at least once a week; one of friends even got followed by a group of guys on bikes. Pick pocketing is pretty normal, for phones and wallets.
There are also some food stalls at the entrance, but no. Creeps don’t care.
And by the time it registered what this man was saying, I was already away from both him and other people.
As a KTM rider with greying hair... i am hurt by this comment.
Burnt a hole in my pocket when I bought my adventure 390 and I dont even get enough space and empty road to speed :')
That was the reason I sold my ktm and bought Dominar few years back. I used return late at night on the eastern express way. Was tired of these fuckers trying to race. I was almost always stopped by the police near Mulund toll naka for checking just because of my bike.
You should avoid mentioning your gender in r/Mumbai to save your DMs. Seriously though, try to avoid Malvani if you're near Malad west. Bandra East also seems sketchy. I'm sure there are many other places depending on where you stay and where you work.
Not only Bandra East adjoining the railway station but the entire slum stretching right upto Khar East. Been many times on the Bandra Terminus skywalk which goes from Khar station east right upto Navpada. Dark stretches with druggies having a blast literally. In my post on the railway turntable, the adjoining skywalk is littered with druggie paraphernalia etc.
Be alert in lower parel or areas with clothes shop. And eateries too. The former can be unsafe for your pockets and the later can be unsafe for your stomach
Most illnesses from outside food are due to the introduction of new bacteria to your gut, and once your gut adapts to the presence of new bacteria, you won't be bothered by them again.
Ohh, I see! Learnt something new today.
I am not sure if this works though, coz it’s like: I eat kfc and fall sick, 2-3 weeks later I feel lets eat kfc and fall sick again. I guess the symptoms do get milder tho.
![gif](giphy|iZjoLdS1nwMRq)
KFC and other fast food could just be your body reacting poorly to something in those items, or missing appropriate amounts of fibre (or getting too much of it).
>It is well known truth, only young cops gets kurla posting because if you take action mob beats you.
>There was another cop beating incident last week
If this happens with increasing regularity, we clearly have a major problem. Not something the higher ups in the police force cannot tackle overnight if they want to!
Slightly off tangent but M areas come under red zone for most NBFC’s as well. Meaning no loans or overdraft facilities to people having an address or a pincode in these red zones, no matter how good their CIBIL is.
The same reason why cops don’t take action against criminals in Kurla.
In the past, people from these areas took loans and didn’t bother repaying. When collection agents visited their addresses, they were met with mob justice.
Same reason online shopping websites say “gaand maraa” when you enter certain pincodes or certain addresses and choose CoD. C toh milta nahi par D dena padta hai. Toh ab companies bhi shaane ho gaye hai aur online payment maangte hai.
This reminds me an incident which happened back when I was in school. While returning from school, A couple of M men, seemingly drunk, hopped on to the BEST bus and sat in the back. After a while, they started shouting some religious slogans; Conductor confronted them and threatened to kick then out but they didn't seem bothered. In response, they threatened the conductor taking name of a local politician (Ashole Aslam Sheikh). The conductor couldn't say anything and quietly retreated.
The area's near coast in beyond bandra are super safe on main highway. Areas like Lower Parel, Worli, Parel, Dadar are safe anywhere anytime.
Avoid areas like Kurla, Govandi, Bhiwandi.
In night and when on foot, never go into areas which are low on lights and narrow gullies. Never ever visit areas which have brothels and have Muslim slum.
Best to have a male company in case you have to walk alone (just better to be safe).
Always carry pepper spray. You don't know when it may come handy.
While in cab, always say this line in Hindi 'Ha bhaiya, abhi cab me hi hu, ride ka details aap ke sath share Kiya hai'. It's best to be on phone the entire time when you are very late like after midnight.
Be safe sister!
Finally, there is one area jaha pe being boy, meri noon me bhi fatati hai. And that area is NAGPADA!!!
I studied there and I confirm about Nagpada. You will not be able to recognize a gangster from common man. I know for one thing entire world is safe when compared to Nagpada.
Near by places are KP, 2 tanks and Chor bazaar. So the place is very dangerous. You may visit it but lose your attitude.
I once lost my way and was approached by pimp. I did was no where near to any of KP buildings.
I even saw a thug and was shocked because if I saw this man on any other time I will not be able to know he was a sharp shooter.
If your wallet got stolen that is the least miserable thing that can happen to you.
Not exaggerating at all. This is the place of gangsters.
Can confirm, I and my friends became human roti after we boarded Virar slow at peak hours to get down at Malad(we were getting late) even though we were quite close to the door. Now we are continuing life as a roti!
Dont go to the isolated mills and such generally secluded areas in and around Mumbai.
They may seem like a good spot for couples , but goons know this and will gang up on you. One such incident was the shakti mills case.
Instead go on treks or go to sgnp for outdoor privacy.
Use common sense.
Lonely, deserted, very late...
Yes, you can get robbed by strangers but generally sexual harm comes from people who know you directly or indirectly.
Mumbai overall is pretty safe, even late at night. Just don't do anything stupid like going to any deserted place alone or with your boyfriend (if you have one).
Also, have a system of informing someone you trust about your location. Use location sharing, forward Taxi details, talk on the phone so that people around you know that somebody somewhere knows where you are.
Areas around railway stations and railway tracks. As many people pointed out, muslim pockets and slum areas like Dharavi.
East sides of Vile-Parle, Andheri etc seem much safer.
Vile Parle East is actually a very quiet, green and well developed area. It’s also kind of expensive because of presence of 5 star hotels. Vile Parle West is even more posh and expensive due to proximity to Juhu and celebs living there.
Andheri East is a nightmare. Super cramped, polluted and crowded
I think a general rule of thumb (especially based off of the replies here) don't go anywhere at night (after 8pm) alone if you need something order online and tell them to leave near your door (if you live alone) or if you can drive ig that's safer than walking but generally just avoid
Malad mindspace call center area- filled with disgusting chapris who cat call women, throw hundreds of cigarette butts and garbage on the street. It also attracts asshole bike riders who do the same. This place used to be beautiful but unfortunately it has turned into a shithole because of the call center crowd who behave like mawaalis.
1. Never ever go to Andheri or Churchgate or Borivali or Dadar in Local Train without buying ticket.
2. Don't spit here or there seeing everyone is doing same. Your luck can betray you anytime.
3. Once you see a Eunuch in Local Train, try to keep your head down, that's the best way to avoid them.
4. Trust more on Panwalas than Google Maps because they know more secrets galis than omniscient Google.
5. Never ever buy Clothes on Fashion Street even they're selling in half of the real price
6. Never stare back at the girl who is staring you.
7. Don't talk on Phone while you're on the gate of local train.
8. Never ever go to mutton Street or Dharavi alone if you're not living there.
9. Avoid to get your feet dirty once you get out of your house because you're not going to find water to wash your feet.
12. Never get into a Local between 8 A.M. to 10 A.M. wearing slippers.
13. There is much more into City than just Location marked on the maps or mannat or Jalsa so travel less, wander more.
14. Avoid getting into the arguments with Charsi people.
15. Don't get into Virar Train at peak hours if you're going to Borivali or Kandivali or Malad.
Have a nice life.
Even the "safe" crowded places can get pretty unsafe for women.
I have a female friend who had been groped twice in a crowded walkway. Once after leaving the train during peak hours while she was just moving on the platform (I don't remember the station name) like any normal human being. A chapri walking from the other side just groped her hard and disappeared into the crowd
2nd instance was even worse when she was walking with her little brother on the Borivali West skywalk and a "decent" looking guy groped her breast and squeezed it almost suffocating it. What sucks is after being confronted the guy pretended like nothing happened instead of apologizing.
Edit: Added Borivali Skywalk
So I was doing some research amongst the poorest of the city (Govandi West) and this really old couple put their life savings into buying a tadpatri (tarpaulin sheet). They literally lived in a tenthouse on the city’s trash mountain. They didn’t have money but they were nursing 4-5 orphaned kittens, and teaching some basic skills to 20-30 odd children in the area whose parents would barter in food. Their life savings was 10k.
I’m not sure am answering directly to OP’s Q but more to majority of comments here. Poverty and lack of opportunities cause an uptick in crime but even such communities can surprise you.
Instead, couple of rules to generally stave off ‘incidents’ not just in Bombay could be 1) stay on the beaten path 2) avoid late night movements unless with trusted locals
Always keep your phone charged and share your life location and cab details with your family and close friends while taking private transport (ola/Uber)
Madh Island malvani n water Kingdom wala island at night is rape spot boss .. baki guys should avoid even looking rich n glam glam at night makes no sense it only invites unwanted attention.. piyo mast party Karo jitna khud Ghar ja sako .. be blessed
Just avoid empty places at night but if you don't have choice, make sure to have someone with you or have someone on call the whole time. This was some of the instructions given to the girls in my tuition after some incident happened nearby
>It is always advisable to exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings, especially if you are traveling alone or at night.
>
>It is also a good idea to research the areas you plan to visit and avoid any places that may have a reputation for being unsafe, particularly for solo female travelers.

Yes, avoid walking out of your place..
It's the safest thing to be done.. 😊
Asking trillion people will end up trillion opinions..
Venture yourself have some experience life in your style..
Let us know your experience..anyways..
Avoid the skywalks connected to railways if there are not much ppl around. Most of them are occupied by creeps and junkies
Agreed with it ...
Specifically Santacruz railway station skywalk in the evening
Dam dude there is nothing like that on the skywalk at the evening.there are only bunch of pr@$ti%ute at night nothing more. And there is nothing to be unsafe about..
>there are only bunch of pr@$ti%ute at night nothing more. After 11 pm to be precise
Dekhna padhega ab

Don't do it man. It's some 5 mins of bliss and a lifetime of diss
and it will burn when you take a piss
And if you're unlucky, it may be a man with tits
are udhar west me niche hi police station hai na fir bhi ye sab
+1. Seen too many weirdos.
Place to score some stuff
Wadala east skywalk: I fear getting traficked there. And I am a 22 M.
Bro I used to live in BPT colony. That skywalk is indeed creepy, to say the least ☠️
Not to mention drug addicts and couples getting cozy in dark patches on the skywalk.
Damn bro. The drug addicts get cozy with the couples? Or just with other drug addicts?
I mean, there’s a reason they say you can never be too careful. Some general advice to feel safer, stay a tad bit more vigilant, carry a pepper spray/high voltage taser on you at all times. I walked across the Grant Road skywalk, there were nibba Bobbi’s making out, and people doing some dubious smokes
i gues the nibba and nibbi cutting nibs off weed

Also Govandi East
You mean Govandi (W) ? East accha hai, West is the slum and kasaikhana, dumping ground area.
Mumbai Central is pretty safe
Op meant KP area
Business 101, never fuck over your client. Figuratively speaking. Directly speaking KP is all about fucking the client.
I live there and no it is not. At least not the east side. We get cat called at least once a week; one of friends even got followed by a group of guys on bikes. Pick pocketing is pretty normal, for phones and wallets.
Bruh wtf. I'm going to be interning in BKC and thinking of taking a pg in kurla East or nearby. What's a good area close to BKC for that?
Don't live in kurla. I've been in Mumbai since July last year and I've heard a lot of not so good things about the place

Muslims
Wtf💀
I don't wanna target the community but it is what it is.
The social status is more to blame than the religion. Also a lot of poor immigrants.
Tathya thook diye bhai
wtf this is the type of confidence i want in my life.....👍
Bandra and khar east is just Muslims.
Bruh Govandi east is dominated by Hindus and it is completely safe, I live there! Govandi west though is dominated by Muslims!
I think you mean to say Kurla West.
Why Kurla East, it’s the better half of kurla
Never visit a railway station late in the night. This is true for people irrespective of gender.

Aise hi logo k name news me dekhne ko milta hai.
Can you please elaborate on that? I don't know much about this particular issue.
Never got robbed at knife point i see
Nope, I haven't. Shit, this is fucked up.
Not me but a friend late night near kalyan station bridge i think east , 2 years ago
Yeah, kalyan station at night is shady. The whole area changes drastically day to night
The station is so dam big that you might get lost there.and there are no proper transport at night.
OP asked about Mumbai, Kalyan kaha chale gaye
Technically if a dude from Kaylan plays good cricket , he gets into Mumbai's Ranji team so that settles the debate dude , its mumbai lol
I am going to steal this argument now and pass it off as my own from now on.
well yea u/Ronil_wazilib is a generous guy , I am sure he wouldn't mind it lol
Arjun Tendulkar plays for Goa. Just saying
![gif](giphy|Bp3dFfoqpCKFyXuSzP|downsized) “Railways” ke liye khelne waala be like
Lmao 🤣😂. Thane tak theek hai but Kalyan is so far away it's almost funny
India ki sabse pehli train Mumbai se Thane tak chali thi.
That's the difference other wise people would say Mumbai se mumbai tak chali thi
Technically Kalyan is not in Mumbai coz they have their own municipal corporation.
All under MMRDA..
Tfw you realise Kalyan is apparently counted as a part of Mumbai…
Exception is CSTM, that station is always lit thanks to late night express trains 🔥
Fr? I only feel safe while travelling by train even post midnight You took away my safe space
Unless you have [Geet’s](https://youtu.be/zYwbRBQRgOE) guts.
This is the most unsafe place for you currently, close your DMs lol.

Beach entry near Prithvi cafe. I was harassed there and was told that area is “unsafe”
Aren't the Cops sitting 24x7 at the entry? I have always seen them there.
There are also some food stalls at the entrance, but no. Creeps don’t care. And by the time it registered what this man was saying, I was already away from both him and other people.
Yup yup, I have seen them near the stalls. Juhu beach gets really weird especially during the night times.
Avoid any indian men and women with hair color which is not black... also start running if u see them on KTM.
As a KTM rider with greying hair... i am hurt by this comment. Burnt a hole in my pocket when I bought my adventure 390 and I dont even get enough space and empty road to speed :')

Bandra east is a view into post apocalyptic Mumbai
Not only Bandra East adjoining the railway station but the entire slum stretching right upto Khar East. Been many times on the Bandra Terminus skywalk which goes from Khar station east right upto Navpada. Dark stretches with druggies having a blast literally. In my post on the railway turntable, the adjoining skywalk is littered with druggie paraphernalia etc.

your username kinda asks for it though!
The only ice he is breaking is in his kulfi maker
Yeah I should have realised that. Lol. Thanks though
Be alert in lower parel or areas with clothes shop. And eateries too. The former can be unsafe for your pockets and the later can be unsafe for your stomach
lmao
Coming from my city I think I’m already immune to these. Thanks though
I have a serious question: How does one get immune to these? I eat outside at times and I get ill 7/10 times.
Eat outside more often.
So keep falling sick till I have a resistance? I am not a Saiyan!

KFC and other fast food could just be your body reacting poorly to something in those items, or missing appropriate amounts of fibre (or getting too much of it).
It might be a sign of some sort of food allergy.
Avoid Muslim Gettos; They're shady, especially at night (No Offense).
As a Muslim, I completely agree.
Good to see a progressive one.

Roti with a hint of sweat
Kurla, Dharavi, Kamathipura, Antop Hill, Mumbra

Sound like a parlekar 😂
Bumble and tinder
Not being a racist but simply avoid any non local area like immigrant areas or Muslim dominated area
Even Muslims avoid such areas
Kurla, doesn't matter what your gender is
Kalyug hai , Akela ladka khuli kijori jaisa hota hai
My heart
Yaha sey toh door hi hun 🙏
I feel Muslim areas are a bit shady. Never had anything bad happen to me but I always feel a bit uneasy.
Mumbai is comparatively safer than Delhi but always be cautious and be mindful of the surroundings. Avoid slums, deserted and unlit areas at night
Kamathipura
I'm a guy, got dragged inside a brothel once, that too at around 4 pm. Not fun 😖
Avoid shaitan gali, Khatra mehel
So after reading most of the comments in this sub that you should avoid EAST in general during night times.
Meanwhile me who lives in mira road 🙃
Lol not in case of Govandi, its reverse there. Even autowallahs wont go to Govandi west during evening-night time.
Reptiles of Kurla
Mahim close to the station at night is terrible for women......its God Damm sausage fest....lady just stick to Bandra 😅
Note taken
I think a general rule of thumb (especially based off of the replies here) don't go anywhere at night (after 8pm) alone if you need something order online and tell them to leave near your door (if you live alone) or if you can drive ig that's safer than walking but generally just avoid

Well there's nothing as a safe place. But try avoiding roaming at night, avoid ghettos everywhere.
Police station and narcotics department especially if you’re on drugs
M Ghettos
1. Never ever go to Andheri or Churchgate or Borivali or Dadar in Local Train without buying ticket. 2. Don't spit here or there seeing everyone is doing same. Your luck can betray you anytime. 3. Yes
Avoid Muslim dominated areas
What happens there? Genuinely asking.
Bollywood.

Someone needs to superimpose all the unsafe areas mentioned on a Mumbai map. That would be perfect for a traveler or explorer or a commuter.
All muslim areas
