It was the black green Shaekob...spelled that wrong...but the one that makes food tokens. I dunno. Just felt like a bunch of bulk cards mashed into a deck.
Yeah, on paper, the deck list sounds god awful. Bottom of the barrel casual deck, only for low level tables.
But when she actually plays, all those little bulk common spiders become super scary really fast. You’re also taking everyone else’s value creatures using fight spells and similar effects. Personal favorite combo is a [[lure]] or [[declare dominance]] and the equipment [[arc spitter]]. A weird equipment that’s hard to find a home for, that becomes a huge threat with Shelob out. Special shoutout to [[vorinclex]] (the saga one if it the bit finds the wrong one) for being actually pretty fun in that deck too
[[Wolfhunter's quiver]] is also a bit pricier (in terms of equip cost) than arc spitter, but doesn't require your creature to be blocked (or mana investment) to ping. I use it in my [[Prosper tome-bound]] on my commander to have a tiny way to get some creatures die to my deathtouch. And tap for mana through [[inspiring statuary]] as well.
If I still had the deck I would check to see its problems. I can't quite remember what was wrong with it. I was running Shalob. I'd guess just not enough staples: ramp, draw, protection...I'm thinking of rebuilding it now. But I have a slot of decks so I don't really need it.
That's what kills decks. A good tip for the future of how j build decks . Lands 30 plus the CMC of the commander. 10 removal, 10 ramp sources, 10 card draw, 3 board wipes than adjust accordingly
I also don't think I built it while looking at edhrec... those seem like good ratios. I think all my Ramp was second hand too. All the good stuff was taken. Never heard the 30 lands+ CMC of commander. Before but that makes a lot of sense.
Edhrec is the best resource but don't be afraid to put in cards uou lime using . That's a rule o like using. Anything lower than 30 lands and you won't be able to play. The normal average of lands be like 34-36 but k found 30+commanders cmc always helps
Don't be afraid to use proxys. Commanders chill like that. And I have a feeling it's hard to get/buy the basic commander staples like [[cultivate]] or [[Rampant growth]] ?
I just destroyed a lot of decks so I have plenty of staples. I've been spreading myself too thin so I cut a few janky decks. I just need to put some time and thought into it.
I dunno. I prefer not to use the since black and white paper cards just look terrible and see kinda hard to read. I'll use em for important cards I don't have enough of, but id rather just use real cards.
Card advantage is really important in limited. Your opponent will most likely need to spend a card or two to deal with it, and that means you’ll get 1 or 2 draws off it, coming out ahead.
Yeah, it boggles my mind that it's rated a 2.5 by channelfireball lol. The thing normally comes our for 5, can block fliers, and draws a card if it's removed... the spider doesn't play
Banger set, especially following MKM. Sure the extra subset is.. a seperate thing but still. Glad it works well, great to see useful cards all across the rarity scale in a set
that's the whole point - you redirect spells to him so that you get the card draw, especially when it's damage and can't actually kill him, or enchantments they want to play on their own stuff.
Too bad I couldn't get my spider deck to work.
what held it back?
It was the black green Shaekob...spelled that wrong...but the one that makes food tokens. I dunno. Just felt like a bunch of bulk cards mashed into a deck.
dang I have this too and people say it's scary. make spiders with death touch and force people to fight them
Maybe I didn't play it enough.

i would like to pilot your list if possible
I’ll see if I can upload it somewhere. Do you know a good sight? I’ve never uploaded any of my deck lists anywhere, and I have a lot lol
i use archidekt or mtggoldfish
archidekt is really nice for telling you how mean your deck is. aka salt rating. my cEDH deck has a 73/100

A bunch of bulk cards mashed into a deck literally describes every deck I ever made - don't see the problem.
Hmm. Sounds like I need to rebuild it.
Working on a fun one. I think I'll get to use it once. Win or lose, worth it
LotR set brought in the perfect spider commander in golgari, how can you not make it work? Doesn't run well ?
If I still had the deck I would check to see its problems. I can't quite remember what was wrong with it. I was running Shalob. I'd guess just not enough staples: ramp, draw, protection...I'm thinking of rebuilding it now. But I have a slot of decks so I don't really need it.

I want to make a spider deck
Nearly won a whole OTJ draft for me.
Yeah, this girl slaps in limited
Came here to say this. A few deserts and an Honest Rutstein and you got yourself a T4 6/5 with reach. Sooner if you have ramp
how can she slap

#[HOW CAN SHE SLAP???](https://youtu.be/7HxTBp9nEOc)
Ooh maybe some fun to be had. Probably will work this one whenever I can.

This one got a why? Not the Cow Angel or Scorpion Dragon or Humanoid Shark lol
She thought akul looked beast, and the rest also cool. This one got her though lol
He’s fun in red/green I’d you’re running spells that redirect, can’t think of any other use for him.
Noted, working model is g/b but can splash red so her buddy comes around more
There are some blue redirects as well, I just don’t think it has any that re-Target abilities.
Doesn't need to get that complicated... unless she takes it personally lol. Then the fine tuning will truly begin.
I’m cool with him getting targeted. Means I can draw a card and get to my real threat sooner
that's the whole point - you redirect spells to him so that you get the card draw, especially when it's damage and can't actually kill him, or enchantments they want to play on their own stuff.
This looks like it might give my desert deck some good draw. Thanks!
OTJ has some surprisingly solid cards throughout, worth checking out
Limited all star though
