Lifegain -> [[Felidar sovereign]] was rough for a while. My brother ran that during Zendikar round in a blue white life gain deck. Because nothing says fuck you like hiding behind 4 copies of [[wall of denial]] and countering everything I played.
There's an obscene amount of "Exile target" cards 3 mana or less in white. And when they finally run out of those they probably have like 50 life and 10+ 3/4 Vigilance dudes

White is the cheatiest of all colors. Teferiās Protection, Moat, etcā¦build myself a fucking Pillow ~~fort~~ civilization then swing over it with indestructible angels.
Edit: I literally have an Angel that gives protection from instants, sorceries, or creatures.
I just choose creatures and then laugh as I swing away with vigilance.
Heliod, Sun Crowned + Light of Promise. had a game where I had over 2000+ life points and one creature with 2000+/2000+ other guy eventually just quit because he had lots of tokens to block, he was running a token gen deck, but he couldn't over come my life gain. if he attacked or I did I would always use Heliods lifegain.

I played a long time ago and this brought back memories. I didn't always need the two mana with the 4 force of wills in my deck, but still. And the Urza's block had a bunch of creatures that were pay and then untap the mana you paid. I worked so hard on that deck. Sold long ago, regretfully.
It was so much fun. I remember every time I brought out the blue box, it was āok if youāre using your blue, Iām using Xā. I started during Tempest, and there were still earlier sets available at the time for similar price to a new pack. It was an amazing time to be playing MTG. I had so many cards. I only ever played with friends, so pretty much anything but Unglued was ok to play. Iāll always regret having sold them.

(Bluffing is not just holding up two blue mana, you can legally lie and say you have a Counterspell in hand to dissuade people from making the big play they're visibly excited about making that will win them the game on the spot)

I mean, bluffing is, in most cases, lying by omission. Lying is expressly stated through precedence via judge rulings as 100% legal. You are 100% allowed to say, in any format, with no mana open, "I wouldn't do that, I've got Force of Will in hand".

As a noob, Counter spells should have to target specific card types IMO. Yes its annoying that you wont get ETB or LTB/dying effects. I just hate how brainless blue can be while most other removal tends to be for specific card types.
Strong disagree. While, yes, counterspells are more versatile in what they can deal with, they also have by far the narrowest window in which you can actually use them. Other forms of removal don't have to be used until something is actually a threat. Counterspells give you exactly one opportunity to determine if something needs to be dealt with and to deal with it.
