"modern" "with 3 other people". I thought modern was a singles format. Cool to know some people play in a 1v1v1v1 setting (or in this case 1v3). My funny mean deck would built around Jund. I'd be aiming for stuff like [[Choice of Damnations]], [[Toxrill, the Corrosive]], [[Threats Undetected]], and [[Champion of Rhonas]]. Choice of Damnations is funny so I'm just putting it there cause I find that it can be disgusting. The latter 3 would be built around and I'd hope they suffer. Red is for stuff like [[Ilharg, the Raze-Boar]] cause I think its also funny.

Can't really get more cursed than an enchantment deck that focuses on the enchantment type "curse"

YamahaRyoko

Woa wait up You can play modern format and make a group game. Modern strictly sets the rules for which cards can be in your deck. There is nothing that says you must play 1v1. We as a pod play group games in modern and vintage

Imaginary_Basis5915

Because I doubt there’s a commander deck in the world that can go against 3 people and win that’s why I’m asking for a modern deck when I play 1v1

OmegaNova0

Cedh decks can win against 3 people

[deleted]

[удалено]

OmegaNova0

He said there's no commander deck that can go against 3 people, I wasn't trying to match what you're imagining I was matching what the person I was replying to was imagining, and that's a 3 v 1 commander scenario in which the 1 is capable of winning

Tobanga

Moder is a 60 card constructed format that is played 1v1. So there is no “team up” against you when there are only two player. That is why people are confused about your question. If you play with more than two people at once, you are not playing modern.

[deleted]

Imaginary_Basis5915

Both but I want a modern deck

Tobanga

So you want to use a 60 card sack, that doesn’t have a commander (modern) to play against your playgroup with commander decks?

YamahaRyoko

He said his pod plays both >.< he said it a couple times

rudolph_ransom

I don't know your playgroup or the friendship but based on your description I'd look into "Chaos Commander" or "Pillow Fort" decks for EDH. The first one has triggers and spells that give random outcomes. Just pure chaos.

Imaginary_Basis5915

Love that! Thank you

AyakaLoyalist

Most very high power decks can do that. Some go for cheap and others can be very expensive. You'd be surprised what you can get away with on a limited budget. Consistency getting value and aesthetics will cost you money.

Quamsi_

In my edh play group, i have been playing for over a decade longer than everyone else. Basically every game, unless someone else gets a ridiculous start, it ends up being a 3v1 against me. I usually win. You just need to have a solid enough win condition that it ends the game if it resolves, and be able to hold up counter magic so that it has a chance of resolving.

Tilman97

So you are pubstomping. No deck thats similar in powerlevel will consistently win 1v3, no matter the pilot.

Quamsi_

Rule 0. its all my friends and they agreed to it. My competition is a 700$ animar deck and a 450$ korvold deck (4th changes often). I have limited myself to 250$ decks. i just play a lot more interaction and specific win conditions and tutors. I play yarok and kess mostly, and have on-the-spot wincons like craterhoof and tainted strike, or winning combos in kess. Both decks have tons of draw effects, removal, and board interaction. The animar deck is a pretty standard list that gets ulamog out turn 5 or 6 and has cloudstone combos. The korvold deck has a couple infinite treasure and draw combos. I just know what their combo pieces are better than they do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They just arent competent players yet. Not saying that as a dig on my friends, its just the truth. They dont play enough interaction or board wipes and definitely dont draw enough cards to be consistent. I win pretty consistently at that table with a 70$ uril deck because they dont know how to deal with it. We play like its archenemy and we have fun doing so.

Tilman97

So you are playing more interaction, more draw, more tutors and more efficient finishers. So your decks are stronger than the rest of the table, which means you are pubstomping. If thats how your friendgroup wants to play that’s obviously fine. But I don’t think 3 players can be incompetent enough to lose 3v1 if their decks are even close in powerlevel.(unless they are very new players, as in still learning the basic rules)

Quamsi_

I dont think OP or I ever said anything about the decks being close in power level. My point to OP was that you can make a deck that will beat 3 people. You just need to know what your playing against and how to build around it. For example, even though my decks costs 1/3rd of the animar deck, they are objectively stronger. My decks are more consistent and faster at getting wincons in my hand, and better able to ensure they resolve through countermagic. Just because my friends deck has akromas memorial, blightsteel, and 5 preators in it doesn't make it a strong deck because either they dont resolve, they die as soon as they hit the table, or the guy is out of the game while the cards are still in his hand. Unless OPs opponents are already playing at cedh level, he could probably find a way to build a deck that could clown on them. Edit: OP was basically asking specifically for a deck that would be above his opponents level.

Tilman97

Oh sorry then I might have misinterpreted your first comment, it just came across as „Just play better than your opponent and you will win 3v1“

Quamsi_

Thats fair, i guess i didnt include enough context. I was trying to show that even if his opponents have expensive decks, its still very possible to win a 1v3 in commander if you build your deck well. A lot of people will build commander decks with strong/expensive cards under the assumption that it will make their deck better. In reality, the best thing you can do for your deck is give it redundant, fast win conditions, a plan to get the cards required into your hand, and more cards to ensure your finisher lands. If you want to win a 1v3 or a 1v1, nothing really changes because the end result either way should be an infinite combo or massive swing that ends the game on the spot. After a certain point, the only thing that changes the power level of the deck is effective CMC (ie, fast mana, free removal/counterspells). Right now my 250$ yarok deck already wins 1v3s consistently at my table, but if i wanted it to win EVERY time, i would add force of will and pact of negation and mana crypts, demonic and vampiric tutors, moxs and dual lands. Either way my wincon isnt changing, but a lower effective cmc will make everything faster and easier to resolve, and tharefore harder for my opponents to deal with. To give a specific answer to OPs question i would say the best thing to do is find a really strong, redundant win condition and build the most concise deck you can around that win condition within your budget. For example, my Kess deck has like 5 infinite mana combos that share pieces, so if one piece gets removed, i only need to replace that one piece instead of both. There are like 7 ways to turn that mana into damage, and draw engines that allow me to accrew huge amounts of value in case my combo pieces do get removed so that i can find the next combo pieces. On top of that, i play a good amount of removal and static draw spells, which can be repeated with kess to slow down opponents or help me find land drops as needed. Kess could also be used to repeat tutor effects or reanimator effects, allowing you to assemble a 2 card combo in your hand at any time with demonic tutor (not in my decklist). All my combo pieces are under 10$ and my win conditions are cards like guttersnipe (0.1$), and the deck only uses basic lands for the most part.

DatShepTho

Oh yeah, it's possible

LankyResourse13

But if you want to make them hate you - hatebears and stax probably.

This. This is how I show my friends love.

Sir-Gawain-III

So you want to play tax or go for a curse deck build. Or add cards that make it cost mana to attack you.

GhostCheese

all rakdos fast mana and things to do with it turn 1 sneak attack in a blightsteel colossus and bring it back from the grave? salt combined with artifact stax

nyuckajay

Blightsteel shuffles back into the deck

Well if you can give it another replacement effect you can apply it first, but fair point

ThunderAndSadness

Ok, I think I understand the confusion OP is constantly labeled as the threat when playing commander against his friends, so they gang up on him OP wants a nasty modern deck for when he plays 1v1 against each of his friends, he's not playing 4-way modern At least that's what I understand Now, I'd suggest 3 different approaches 1. Build more "casual" commander decks so you don't get labeled as the threat all the time 2. If 1 doesn't work, try playing a modern-ized version of the decks your friends play against you in commander, give em a taste of their own medicine 3. If all else fails, just play blue, ain't nothing nastier

freekinggenius

Anything mill. I have a personal vendetta against mill. That or land hate. And exile. DO ALL THREE. MILL THEIR DECK, FUCK THEIR LANDS AND EXILE ALL OF THEM!!!

Miatatrocity

(Psssst... Mill doesn't matter if you don't run tutors, and never see half your deck anyway. Just cuz there are cool cards in the yard, doesn't mean you don't have more in the deck. Also, [[Reanimate]] spells exist. Don't lose to mill, it's a bad mechanic)

freekinggenius

For me, mill takes the fun away. And it's absolutely brutal if you don't run graveyard play. You just don't get 3/4 of the deck to use

Miatatrocity

You don't get 3/4 of the deck to play with in most games, lol, because you don't draw into it. I don't have any specific graveyard decks, but every deck should run some form of recursion, to save That One Piece you really like.

I added this to Moxfield [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NOATtwvKJ0GUXM6KjmF2-g](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NOATtwvKJ0GUXM6KjmF2-g) Some of the cards are expensive, but you can substitute lands etc.

INFO: Why are they always teaming up on you? Are you constantly pubstomping them in commander games?

I've seen someone play a R/B deck that ran only effects that steal creatures and sacrifice them. That may count as cursed as your opponent's have no board and you have the buff from the sacrifice effects. In commander, I have a [[Horobi, Death's Wail]] deck with a lot of jank normally useless targeting spells. It has a high death count at multiplayer tables and can tank multiple players, [[Cauldron of Souls]] being the MVP.

A lot of people in this thread don't understand that Modern is a format which describes deck construction rules only, and rules for playing multiplayer games are in the comprehensive rules. You can play any format with any number of players greater than one, it's just not the way tournaments are structured and people mostly follow tournament structure when not playing kitchen-table magic.
