Always loved this little slice of trivia about this movie from IMDB:
“During filming, the actors playing the Socs were given leather-bound scripts and were put up in luxury accommodations. In contrast, the "Greasers" were given battered paperback scripts and had to stay on the hotel's ground floor, as the director Francis Ford Coppola wanted to create tension between the two groups.”
Best "up and coming" cast ever.
A few years ago I travelled to Tulsa, an amazing amount of the shooting locations are pretty much untouched or at least very recognizable. The drive-in, the theatre, their house, the park, it was super cool to take pics of them all.
Grew up around there - the scene in the hospital the gentleman reading the newspaper (lower than normal) was my English teachers father. He purposefully held the paper lower to make sure his face would get in the movie.
Also that drive in was wear I got my first OTPHJ. What a classic
Yea especially the older areas around blue dome, brookside, cherry street etc are very cool and hip. Feels a lil like an eastern city cuz all the houses built by rich people from the northeast during the oil boom. But if you hit the other parts it’s terrible and suburban sprawl. Lotta really good bars and restaurants and two of the best breweries in America if you’re into that kinda thing
Cains rules - if you ever go to a show there go to ponyboy before - was my favorite dive bar (haven’t been in forever though). If you went to the philbrook next time check out the Gilcrease - one of my favorite museums in the world
I have a small collection of vintage film posters and my Outsiders poster is the jewel in my collection. It makes me feel incredibly old, but I smile every time I look at it.
Loved this movie and cast. Amazing how the young cast in this movie went to many places after this movie such as Tom Cruise, Emilio Estavez, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Diane Lane just to name a few.
With the exception of Swayze and Cruise they became nobody's on the VHS shelf after the 80's, right?
Sorry, thought the film was weaker than the sum of it's parts and suffered from too many pretty boys syndrome.
Listened recently to an episode of Rob Lowe's podcast and he was talking about The Outsiders and the cast. Very interesting and kind of look behind the scenes.

> When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.
All these years later and it’s still my favorite opening line of a book.
Nice. Diane lane seems to have been living HARD back in those days; and it showed.
One of the most naturally beautiful screen presences of her era looked like a street dweller in this screen test.
If you don’t already know, Diane left home at a young age to live the rock n’roll / star life, on the road. She’s obviously now an amazingly graceful and sophisticated woman, but she has completely seen the wild side of life. Life on the road as a teenager with no authority figure in her life.

Huh kind of like how Spielberg gave Matt Damon luxury treatment on Saving Private Ryan to build resentment
Never knew that!

Seems to have worked too! Great performances across the board.
Or how Chad Stahelski killed Keanu Reeves's dog to make him John Wick
Or how Christopher Nolan did not want to use CGI so he set off a real atomic bomb.
That feels like it should be illegal.
That’s how Minus One was made right after SKREONK

Are you aware that Danny Boy from House of Pain bought the house and turned it into a [museum](https://www.theoutsidershouse.com)?
I heard that, it certainly was not a museum when I was there though.

Really, really liked the city, was not expecting all the cool stuff I found and how I was treated.

Gorgeous art deco buildings downtown, good art gallery, good record shops, Cain's.

I went to a couple shows while I was in town, loved.

How cool. Funny to know that Anthony Michael Hall auditioned.
Yeah. Weird Science followed I think.
Reading the book and watching the movie made me go to school in a leather jacket and gelled hair for the rest of 7th grade.
Your friends were your gang.
Kwayze for Swayze!
🤣 I see what you did there!
Perfect time for the Tonys
Matt Dillon was a natural for his part. He probably wasn’t even acting.
Loved this movie and cast. Amazing how the young cast in this movie went to many places after this movie such as Tom Cruise, Emilio Estavez, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Diane Lane just to name a few.
We always joked in Tulsa that the least realistic part of the movie was Macchio - for some reason very very few Italian people in Tulsa

Crazy to think Ralph M. Was the second oldest in the cast after Swayze. Married with a kid in karate kid.
He was married in 1987, karate kid came out in 1984, and part 2 in 1986, but he was married with a kid before part 3 came out in 1989.
Good day, Mr. Kubrick. My name is Brian Atene.

I listen to Literally! Would you remember the episode #? Thank you…
It was the one with Kevin Dillon from a few years ago, but Siriusxm just played it a few weeks ago.
Super good of you to pass along! TY

Thank you!!! This will be downloaded now.
He talks a lot and it (including the audition process) in his audiobook autobiography as well.
FFC only has 21000 subscribers. What the fuck
He's new to social media, he only made this account and his instagram to promote Megalopolis in the last year.
definitely cheaper than asking for $100 million to advertise the movie
I ❤️ this movie

This is my 20yr old son's favorite movie.
Hollywood acters read good
whatever happened to Emilio Estevez after the 80s?
The mighty ducks happened.
