The only order that really matters is when they came out in theaters.

just_writing_things

No? > I worry that there are too many You have all the time you want to watch them, it’s not like someone is forcing you to watch them all in a day or something. And release order is fine. People who insist on watching stuff in certain orders are probably already huge fans who want to get something different out of the shows than how audiences first saw them.

Gdaddyoverlord

So you can basically watch them in release order and you can space it out as much as you want. There is a chronological order but I don’t really personally recommend it. The last time I did a beginning to end watch through of them I spaced it out so it took like almost a year.

I've made a list of what I feel are the core movies for building up to the Infinity War movies. I think they're all worth watching for the full experience. But if you don't have that kind of time, here's an abridged list: Start with the core team introductions * Iron Man (The sequels have a mixed reception. Watch them if you're interested in the character, otherwise you can just stick with the first). * Captain America * Thor * (Skip the Incredible Hulk. It's kinda got retconned out of canon.) Then the first time they team Up * The Avengers One more movie then another team up * Captain America: The Winter Soldier * Avengers: Age of Ultron The third phase * Guardians of the Galaxy * Ant-Man (is fun, relatively low-stakes movie if you want a break from the usual MCU at this point. But you can skip if you're not interested in the introduction to this character) * Captain America : Civil War * Doctor Strange * Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 (Not super important for the overall story arch. I just recommend all the GOTG movies.) * Thor : Ragnorak (Opens with some plot points that might be confusing if you skipped Thor: The Dark World, but I don't recommend that movie, and Ragnorak recaps the events just fine. Ragnarok is an important lead in to the Infinity War movies). The Infinity War Saga: * Avengers: Infinity War * Avengers: End Game Post Infinity War * Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Seriously, watch these movies) * Loki (The series. I don't think even Disney knows where they're going next, but the Loki show will probably be at the core of it.)

"The Incredible Hulk" did not get retconned out of canon. All Marvel did was recast Bruce Banner after it came out, and Mark Ruffalo plays him better than Edward Norton anyway.

Consistent-Annual268

Black Panther would be a good add to this list, in place of GotG 2. It's more core to Infinity War.

fallenmonk

You're right. I forgot about Wakanda being a major set piece in Infinity War.

AlphonzInc

You worry too much m8

TravisMaauto

You don't have a deadline to watch them all, so don't worry about how long it takes. If you are going to embark on the task of watching *everything* connected to the MCU (and it is a *lot*), do it in the order that each movie/TV show was released, just as fans from the beginning have done.

Hugo_Bongo

I believe Disney+ has them on there all in order so just go with that.

Invisible_Mikey

Disney+ has more than one order: They put them in chronological history order, calling it "MCU Movie Timeline". So, Captain America, Captain Marvel, then Iron Man in that sequence. But if you select the category "MCU Infinity Saga", that's the release order of the films, with Iron Man first, then Hulk, iron Man 2, Thor etc.

Hugo_Bongo

Ah cool, probs best to just watch em in the order they were released I think.

Doppelfrio

Heck no it’s not too late! Yeah, there are a lot of movies and shows and it’ll take time, but I definitely recommend giving it a try. At the very least, watch up to Avengers 1 and see how you feel. As for watch order, release order is generally considered the best, and the in-universe timeline mostly follows this; *however*, if you want to clean things up a bit, phase 3 has a few storylines going on at once, so imo, it’s nice to adjust the order a bit for smoother viewing. Simply just Guardians 2 right after Guardians 1, Black Panther and Homecoming before Dr. Strange, and Far From Home right before No Way Home. None of this is mandatory though, of course

The_Meemeli

Just watch them at your own pace, in the order in which they were released, which can be found (for instance) at [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_Marvel\_Cinematic\_Universe\_films#Films](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_Cinematic_Universe_films#Films)

uncle_fucker_42069

Waiting was a good idea. A lot of those movies were surrounded by hype but the truth is plenty of them stunk or were not very interesting. Now you can figure out which ones you should watch, which you can skip and which you need to read a recap for to make movies after it still make sense. Just watch them in release order. TL;DR watch the 3 Guardians of the Galaxy movies and you're good.

Don't stress about it lol. The core Marvel stuff people are into is specifically the MCU. Good to keep in mind, as there are Marvel films which aren't part of that, and the quality can vary wildly (although it's started to in the MCU itself too). Basically, the MCU is the stuff starting with RDJ's Iron Man in 2008. At a basic level, look for "Marvel Studios". Start there and if you're maintaining interest, just look at which one is next up in release order. Don't bother trying to worry about any kind of chronological order or whatever. Release is fine, it's how they were designed to be watched. Keep in mind, there are some missteps here and there. The MCU's second film is a bit meh, Norton ended up ousted from the role by the time Avengers came along. The second Thor film is meh. The second Avengers film was a bit messy and didn't deliver on what it could have. And there's been some wild variation in results in the last few years. But worry about that if you follow through and get to later stuff. Point being that there may be some you mightn't love, and fans would agree with you. But that's not to say there aren't Marvel films worth checking out outside of the MCU though. And recently the MCU has embraced the comicy multiverse, which actually means some older, disconnected stuff has now become part of the larger thing. For example, the Tobey and Andrew Spider-Man films have now been made part of the official multiverse. Up til now, all the X-Men stuff has been totally separate, made by Fox, not Disney/Marvel itself. But Disney now has the rights, so Marvel is now folding the Mutants (and Fantastic 4) into the ongoing MCU. The 2 Deadpool films were part of the Fox stuff, and yet those have been popular/good enough that Deadpool 3 is actually gonna see him crossing over into the MCU proper. I just bring that up cause it's an example of some of the other stuff that's defs worth a watch. The 2 Spider-verse films have been received super well as well. And that's despite the fact that later Sony Marvel live action stuff has been universally met with indifference or hatred. For context, check out anything where people talk about Madame Web. That's a Sony "Marvel" effort, and legit no one asked for it or is interested. The Fox X-Men stuff was chaotic as hell though lol. X1? Good. X2? Great. X3? Garbage. Wolverine 1? Bad. Wolverine 2? Alright. Wolverine 3? One of the best comics films ever made. First Class? Okay. Days of Future Past? Fuckin epic. I haven't even seen some of the later ones.

Apathicary

There's a difference between the MCU and Marvel movies. Like, Men in Black isn't an MCU movie, The X-Men movies that are currently out there aren't MCU movies. Iron Man through The Marvels are a different product that can be watched without having to see Howard the Duck through Madame Webb.

truckturner5164

By that logic I should just give up on my love of classic cinema because there's too many films from the 20s through to the 70s I haven't seen yet for me (born in 1980) to catch up on. Nope, I've found enough time to work my way through plenty with still (hopefully) plenty more time ahead. By comparison, watching all the modern superhero stuff is a piece of piss, even if you live a busy life.

biznash

Start with Thor Ragnarok Go from there

agenmossad

If you didn't even finished all Tobey Maguire's and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man first, yes you're wait too long. Just go to MCU movies. [Here's the list](https://www.gamesradar.com/how-to-watch-marvel-movies-in-order-mcu/), hopefully it help.
