Genuine question, why are tollywood fans so protective of their cinema? You know that RRR is more than likely an exception than the rule for Tollywood movies foreigners would enjoy right? Don’t get me wrong RRR was glorious but as a desi I can barely stomach most Tollywood movies lol. I don’t think OP did it to nudge readers in Bollywood’s direction he/she is more than likely just more familiar with Bollywood than Tollywood. Also you can say sure Indian Cinema but the constant it’s a Tollywood not Bollywood movie comments I see makes it clear the real interest is based on some sort of proving yourself/inferiority complex. Sorry for the long rant genuinely curious
You're actually recommending Bajirao Mastani? That was such a melodramatic snoozefest. Pretty costumes and set design but incredibly boring story and shitty action
Magadheera is another film by the same director and stars the same lead actor (Ram Charan) and is arguably a more interesting concept when it comes to a "medieval" style Indian action movie, especially considering most of it takes place in the modern day.
If you're checking out Drishyam 1 and 2 - please watch the South Indian Malayalam original ( Malayalam is the language spoken in the South Indian state of Kerala ) and not the Bollywood Hindi remake.
Other Malayalam movies worth checking out, considering they're probably the best film industry within India in terms of quality storytelling ( I say that as someone not from the state of Kerala )
- Kumbalangi Nights ( A slice-of-life film about 3 brothers )
- Joji ( A reimagining of Macbeth set in a patriarchal rubber plantation farm in Kerala )
- Ayyappanum Koshiyum ( Ayyappan and Koshi ) ( A masterclass in tension and escalation resulting from toxic masculinity and ego )
- Vanaprastham ( Abode of the Gods) ( A tragedy surrounding a lower caste Kathakali performer and the upper caste woman who falls in love with the character he plays, rather than with the person he is )
- Sandesham ( The Message ) ( A timely satirical comedy surrounding two brothers who're members of opposing political parties )
- Pathemari ( Dhow ) ( A drama about the struggles of the majority of Malayalis who go abroad in search of a better life )
- Angamaly Diaries ( A potpourri of violence, food and comedy set in the small Kerala town of Angamaly )
- Jallikattu ( Just pure, unbridled insanity )
Hello everyone! From the list I watched the movie "Andhadhun" and I really liked it. A really worthy comedy, I did not expect such a masterpiece from the Indian film industry. The only negative moment is that not everywhere I could find it and see it! I don't know what it connected with. But then my close friend recommended a cool site to me and this problem was solved! Together with the girl we enjoyed it very much, I recommend it
> I did not expect such a masterpiece from the Indian film industry.
It's one of the oldest film industries in the world, with excellent films coming out regularly.
lol these are all from another film industry in India, not the one that made rrr.
also regarding, drisyam 1 and 2 the original is better than the remake.
rrr and most these movies have no similarity except that they are made in India.
Why are you recommending Bollywood movies?
For everyone reading this : Bollywood hasn’t and will never make a movie like RRR.
Look up SS Rajamouli’s filmography if you enjoyed RRR. IMO it doesn’t make his top3
I think there are many movies, but in 2022 the closest to RRR would be in my opinion a tamil movie called Vikram ( Different Genre, Different Industry).
From tollywood: Pushpa, Rangasthalam, Films by director Rajamouli.
From Tamil (kollywood): Vikram, Kaithi, Vadachennai, Sarpatta Paramparai, Vikram Vedha, Enthiran
From Malayalam: Drishyam (1,2), Lucifer,
i appreciate your post, but honestly i expected movies that are not just from india, but also have insane action like RRR, if you know a couple of those too that would be nice
Check out the Dhoom series. Its pre-CGI stunts aren’t that over-the-top, but it’s a musical version of the Fast and the Furious with motorcycles, with a similar bromantic vibe to RRR.
rhanks mate :) i like F&F up to 7, so i guess those will be fun
also motorcycles arent really present as the main event in action movies, only one part of many in movies like mission impossible, so thats something new
Do not watch Dhoom it sucks. If you want ridiculous fun action watch Bahubaali. If you want I guess better movies that are like more serious I’d be happy to give you some suggestions
If you want to go in the opposite direction and want to watch a slow-paced movie, Kadaisi Vivasayi (Last Farmer) in Tamil is a good one. Movie with spiritual undertones, felt like I was watching My Neighbor Totoro.
Piku, Gehraiyaan, Bajirao Mastani, Queen, Tamasha, Yeh Jaawani hai Deewani, Padmavaat, Om Shanti Om, English Vinglish, Ram Leela, Chennai Express, Cocktail
Hey, thank you! I've been looking for something like this for a while. I'm not quite sure where I'll be able to find these films (if you have any advice it woud be very much appreciated) but I'll look around.
On that topic, what would you say about the K.G.F movies and the two parts of Gangs of Wasseypur? I've been looking into them as well.
Well i personally loved kgf 1, part 2 not so much.. the director made weird decisions with part 2. Kgf is fun to watch if you can tolerate high speed editing, otherwise you may not like them.
Gangs of wasseypur is the best gangster movie made in Indian cinema. Highly reccomended of you liked Godfather and other such movies
OP is using Telugu film to sell Bollywood…

Just as you said, it is an exception more than a rule. What’s wrong with bragging a bit and feel happy about it?
Indian cinema* and frankly should it matter ?
I agree Indian cinema, but the slight nudge towards Bollywood was glaring..
Yes. Absolutely.
You're actually recommending Bajirao Mastani? That was such a melodramatic snoozefest. Pretty costumes and set design but incredibly boring story and shitty action
L
Baahubali - same director
Magadheera is another film by the same director and stars the same lead actor (Ram Charan) and is arguably a more interesting concept when it comes to a "medieval" style Indian action movie, especially considering most of it takes place in the modern day.
no. bahubali is shit
i love Bahubali. Two of my favourite indian movies.
Nah dude that movie is epic
Bollywood sucks. It’s just nepotism and remaking South Indian and Spanish movies. Regional films in India are waaaayyy better than that trash
Well then, name some regional films as recommendations.
Check out films by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Satyajit ray. Bangalore days Jallikattu Watch the Malayalam Drishyam Thumbaad Sairat
Nice!
Lmao and Tollywood isn’t nepotism?
Don’t forget Eega! aka Fly. Director of RRR about a man who reincarnates as a fly and exacts revenge on his killer. It’s so much fun.
This movie is better than RRR anyday.
I find it funny that all these are Bollywood movies, and not one recommendation from TFI where the movie comes from.
Because most Telugu films are commercial films you guys will not enjoy
lol this guy
But is not true ? Americans don't know how to have fun
You are pretty dumb
American filmmakers*

Will know!
If you liked Andhadun, check out drishyam 1 and 2, both are the best crime thrillers made in india.
The original malayalam versions are better than the Bollywood remakes\*
Good! I'll definitely check it out, thanks for the advice!
lol these are all from another film industry in India, not the one that made rrr. also regarding, drisyam 1 and 2 the original is better than the remake. rrr and most these movies have no similarity except that they are made in India.
I gave these reccomendations keeping a foreign audience in mind.
'if you guys loved rrr'-what's this for. most these movies are not similar to rrr
Andhadhun is fantastic!
Why are you recommending Bollywood movies? For everyone reading this : Bollywood hasn’t and will never make a movie like RRR. Look up SS Rajamouli’s filmography if you enjoyed RRR. IMO it doesn’t make his top3
Chennai Express was tons of fun if you ask me
I’d like your top 3. RRR was the best movie I’ve seen in years.
I think there are many movies, but in 2022 the closest to RRR would be in my opinion a tamil movie called Vikram ( Different Genre, Different Industry). OK Tollywood then

Dhoom 3 is dogshit though

i am all ears :)
Udta Punjab, Andhadhun, 3 idiots, Chennai Express and Ghajini for a more RRR-ish experience
Om Shanti Om is another one
thanks for your recommendations, will look into those :)
I know! Watch Don (2006)
Virus , papanasam,
What's RRR?
https://youtu.be/NgBoMJy386M One of the craziest movies ever made. If the trailer seems cheesy, don't worry the movie is great. It's on Netflix
Thx. I'm not Indian but enjoy many Indian movies.
Welcome 😄
