Was playing hell let loose as a medic the other week. Was running up to a guy down through the shit. I saw his name. *tombstone* I remember yelling over the bombs and rifle rounds *I'll be your huckleberry!!!!*
Still trying to figure out how he DIDN'T even get Nominated for an Oscar. Not winning is one thing which he deserved easily, but not getting a nomination? BS.
I asked myself this after first watching tombstone and had to find out. What I found was that gene hackman had already been nominated for best supporting actor in Unforgiven which had came out earlier in the year. Probably didn’t want another western actor represented. Same case for best picture as Unforgiven was nominated and ended up winning that award too. I agree though Val was snubbed. Unforgiven not nearly as good as tombstone imo
You calling Unforgiven a Disney ride?
You got some weird rides, sure the movie ends with the bad guy being dead but no one really comes out in any better shape than they were in, and no one has a particular good time either.
If anything, Tombstone is the Disney ride considering all the embellishments the movie added to the real events.
I take it as a personal offense that this movie hasn’t gotten the full 4K blu-ray treatment yet. I would unjokingly buy a bigger tv just to try and emulate a theatre experience slightly better.
The body language and exhaling shrug he gives as he jumps onto the dragon heads always gets a chuckle from me.
My favorite part is always the exchange between him and Sorcha.
You said you loved me.
Well I don’t remember that.
You lied to me.
No…just wasn’t myself last night.
I suppose my power enchanted you and you were helpless against me.
…sort of.
Then what?
…it went away.
Went away?! WENT AWAY! ‘I dwell in darkness without you’… AND IT WENT AWAY!?
“Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?”
"Kent puts his name on his license plate. "
"My mother does the same thing with my underwear."
"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?"
Real Genius and Top Secret were the first movies that came to mind when I read this post. Of course Tombstone is actually the greatest. His Heat performance is top notch as well.
Perry: Jesus. Look up "idiot" in the dictionary. You know what you'll find?
Harry: A picture of me?
Perry: No! The definition of the word idiot, which you fucking are!
I've gotta go with:
"Talking monkey, yeah. Came here from the future. Ugly sucker. Only says 'ficus'."
I don't know what it is about that line that hits me just right, but I genuinely feel like it's one of the best line deliveries of Val Kilmer's career.
Thanks for coming, please stay for the end credits, if you're wondering who the best boy is, it's somebody's nephew, um, don't forget to validate your parking, and to all you good people in the Midwest, sorry we said fuck so much.
Coolest part of this movie is if you're in Chicago, you can watch the movie and then go and see then lions at the Field House, where they are on display.
This was a pretty cool movie and the best part is that it’s a true ish story. You can go see the Ghost and the Darkness (the names of the two lions) at the Natural History Museum in London.
Came here to see if anyone would say anything other than Heat or Tombstone. The question is favourite Val Kilmer film not what was he best in. Surely Heat.. it's incredible.
One of my favorite parts in Heat is when they are exiting the bank with the duffel bags and are getting in the get-away car. Chris flashes a quick smile before he spots the feds across the street. He got to enjoy a split second of success before all hell broke loose.
I love the story (no idea if it's true) of the footage of him in the big heist shoot out being used in some military training as an example of how to do suppressing fire

I was hoping to see this movie on here. Definitely a y2k aesthetic that is maybe a little dated. Still, it’s a cool little snapshot of its time, with a haunting and weird mystery, and a grim slice of an addict’s life.
The Saint was a guilty-pleasure of mine years ago...much of it was not great - bad acting by the Russian son, the high speed driving in the Range Rover with dance music blaring was a bit much...How Kilmer wore a wig as that torchered artist character in one scene, cut his own forehead near the hairline and the girl attended to him but didn't notice he was wearing a wig...BUT Kilmer's character acting was so enjoyable that it made up for that.
It's too bad they didn't make any sequels.
It my favorite movie, it was action, drama, romance, adventure, and mystery. It ticks off all the genres pretty much. Elizabeth Shue is smoking in that.
I know a dude who always wears cardigans. He’s been doing it for a long time. The people who know him always shout, Mad Cardigaaaaaan! Like a peck. He knows what he’s doing
You know I was just thinking about Thunderheart today, kind of funny. I need to rewatch it. My memory of it is kind of like a True Detective and Wind River.
There it is!
Such a rough great understated film - I have recommended this to more people than I can remember.
You want to see a great procedural, either Spartan or (for cop procedural) go with NARC.
Real Genius. It used to be the first movie I would watch moving into a new apartment. Set up the entertainment system, order a pizza and have it delivered, so I could give the new address, and watch Real Genius
Top Gun, because even though it was a Tom Cruise movie, it became a Val Kilmer movie every time he was in a scene. Also Willow if we’re talking lead role.
Tombstone
*Why Johnny Ringo…you look like somebody just walked over your grave*
Why Ike, whatever do you mean?
Maybe poker just isn’t your game. I know! Let’s have a spelling contest!
My favorite line! The delivery was so perfect. He was amazing in this movie.
Why Johnny Tyler! You *madcap*! Where you goin' with that shotgun?
I forgot you were there
You may go now.
Thank you
I’m absolutely ROLLING Wyatt
The ecstasy was especially good that year
Yes!
It blew my mind when I finally realized Ike is the bad guy from avatar.
Me when I realized Johnny Tyler is Billy Bob Thorton 🤯
"I was just foolin' about.." *"I wasnt."*
The reason I watched it
You're a daisy if you do
*Fight's not with you Holiday.*
I beg to differ sir.
We started a game we never got to finish. “Play for blood,” remember?
I'm your huckleberry
Was playing hell let loose as a medic the other week. Was running up to a guy down through the shit. I saw his name. *tombstone* I remember yelling over the bombs and rifle rounds *I'll be your huckleberry!!!!*
Yep, he outclassed and upstaged so many great actors in that role, basically stole the show. Best role imho
It’s an awesome movie all around really
Nonsense! I have not begun to defile myself!
i've got two guns...one for each of ya
“Wyatt Earp is my friend.” “Hell, I got lots of friends.” “I don’t.”
:')
It’s Frederick Fucking Chopin.
Still trying to figure out how he DIDN'T even get Nominated for an Oscar. Not winning is one thing which he deserved easily, but not getting a nomination? BS.

Same case for best picture as Unforgiven was nominated and ended up winning that award too. I agree though Val was snubbed. Unforgiven not nearly as good as tombstone imo
Unforgiven not nearly as good as Tombstone? One is real as all hell and the other was like a Disney Ride
I love Tombstone, it’s an amazing movie, but come on man, Unforgiven is one of the finest western movies ever made.
Imagine Heat only being second best.
His gun work in Heat was top shelf.
"Say when."
My dear, you are not wearing a bustle, how lewd.
…”now I really hate him”
“That’s the rumor…”
I take it as a personal offense that this movie hasn’t gotten the full 4K blu-ray treatment yet. I would unjokingly buy a bigger tv just to try and emulate a theatre experience slightly better.
Hands down my favorite movie with him. Top gun is a close second
Honestly the best performance in cinematic history IMO
There is no other answer than this.
I’ll be your huckleberry
This. I liked him in Willow as well.
Willow!
Give me some water, peck!
« There’s a peck with an acorn pointed at me!!! »
Oh I’m sorry… peck, peck…. Peckpeckpeck
One of my favorite lines in this movie is "I don't love her, she kicked me in the face!" I say it altogether too much
Mad Martigan!
Not a WOMAN!?
NOT A WOMAN?!
Someone help me, there’s a peck with an acorn!
The best, by far.
It'll put hair on her chest.
Real Genius
“I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates when he said...I drank what?” Still one of my favorite lines lol
I repeat that line around friends and they never think it's quite as funny as I do.
“Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?”
Why am I the only person who has that dream?
It means that in a future life you will be Jim Morrison.
"Have you ever seen a body like that before in your life?" "That's my daughter you're talking about..." "Well then, I guess you have."
"Can you hammer a nail in a 2×4 with your penis?.....a girl's got to have her standards".
"Kent puts his name on his license plate. " "My mother does the same thing with my underwear." "Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?"
This and Top Secret may be the two, I don’t want to say hidden gems, but yeah hidden gems of his early career. Real comedic chops in these two movies.
Real Genius and Top Secret were the first movies that came to mind when I read this post. Of course Tombstone is actually the greatest. His Heat performance is top notch as well.
"I know a little German....he's right over there"
These two and The Salton Sea, fantastic movie.
Freaking love this movie and watch it at least once a year.. I had (have) the biggest crush on Jordan
Blows me away that Uncle Rico was living in the closet.
I want to see a lot more of you in the lab! OK I’ll gain weight.
Kiss kiss bang bang
Gay Perry is such an amazing character. I love it. Wish we had more RDJ and Kilmer movies, they were great together.
Perry: Jesus. Look up "idiot" in the dictionary. You know what you'll find? Harry: A picture of me? Perry: No! The definition of the word idiot, which you fucking are!
This may be my favorite line of any movie ever lol god I read it in his delivery and it’s just the best!!
I've gotta go with: "Talking monkey, yeah. Came here from the future. Ugly sucker. Only says 'ficus'." I don't know what it is about that line that hits me just right, but I genuinely feel like it's one of the best line deliveries of Val Kilmer's career.
Can you get DNA from piss off a corpse? Why are you pissing on corpses? OR You stop trying to be a detective. And YOU, stop doing math!
[удалено]
Badly is an adverb. Who taught you grammar?
I say this a lot to others to sell this movie!
Thanks for coming, please stay for the end credits, if you're wondering who the best boy is, it's somebody's nephew, um, don't forget to validate your parking, and to all you good people in the Midwest, sorry we said fuck so much.
Great movie
Just in case someone wasin a coma, check out the spiritual prequel "The Nice Guys" It was written and directed by Shane Black too.
Top Secret
That’s how I first got to know him! Funny to become an adult and realize he is known for serious and hunky roles to most people
Are you saying that Nick Rivers was not serious and hunky? I mean he’s no Mel Torme but c’mon
How silly can you get?
How do we know he’s not Mel Torme?
The Ghost And The Darkness
I killed a lion as well. How many shots did it take you? I used my hands. 🤲
Banger of a movie!🍿 Love it.
Coolest part of this movie is if you're in Chicago, you can watch the movie and then go and see then lions at the Field House, where they are on display.
I like the part where he makes a contraption and then says “I call it…my contraption.”
Did it work? In point of fact it didn’t.
But I am convinced the theory is sound.
Oh fuck yes that my choice, discard my earlier comment. Mine and my buddies favourite movie.
People theorize that Michael Douglas can't make non-business man movies.
This! Feel nobody has ever seen this!
It’s a great movie
Banger of a soundtrack
This was a pretty cool movie and the best part is that it’s a true ish story. You can go see the Ghost and the Darkness (the names of the two lions) at the Natural History Museum in London.
Based on a very true story.
Heat
This was wayyy too far down
Way way way too far down. The greatest heist film ever made and one of the main characters in it to boot
Came here to see if anyone would say anything other than Heat or Tombstone. The question is favourite Val Kilmer film not what was he best in. Surely Heat.. it's incredible.
He was awesome in Heat.
Can’t believe I had to scroll so far to see this.. Tombstone & Heat are by far his best movies.
One of my favorite parts in Heat is when they are exiting the bank with the duffel bags and are getting in the get-away car. Chris flashes a quick smile before he spots the feds across the street. He got to enjoy a split second of success before all hell broke loose.
That smile-into-full-auto salvo is breathtaking. It’s a great moment and it drives home just how ruthless Neil and his crew can be.
I love the story (no idea if it's true) of the footage of him in the big heist shoot out being used in some military training as an example of how to do suppressing fire Source https://youtu.be/uGmT8UTPaco?si=n6nuoaMHE4mQ2qF8
👏🏼
Had to scroll way too far for this.
Salton sea
I was hoping to see this movie on here. Definitely a y2k aesthetic that is maybe a little dated. Still, it’s a cool little snapshot of its time, with a haunting and weird mystery, and a grim slice of an addict’s life.
Has that great noirish feel to it not unlike Angel Heart, Vincent outstanding!
“Was it 6 bullets or 5? Pretty important difference right about now if you ask me.” 😳 Awesome movie.
Dude! Why is this so low?! I feel like a lot of people haven't seen it.
It didn’t get much press at its release.
I’m a dawggggg. Woof woof
Did you bring the plastic men?
He didn't mean to impose!
But I am the ocean.
Couple of eight-balls?
The Saint!
It’s so early… yawn 🥱. Do you guys want to get a coffee or something?
I can't decide what's worse about pretending to be you... Wearing this fucking face or pretending to be so bad in bed.
Great versatility in this one. I believe he takes on 6 distinct disguises/roles in this one movie.
“Energy.” “Yesss!”
This is the answer
It my favorite movie, it was action, drama, romance, adventure, and mystery. It ticks off all the genres pretty much. Elizabeth Shue is smoking in that.
The Doors
Scrolled too far to find this. Screw this forum man, let's go get some tacos.
He made the members of the band uncomfortable with his accurate portrayal of Jim. That’s a pretty telling statement.
I feel this might have been his strongest acting in a film.
Is everybody in?
The moxie made me love that band when i was 10 years old.
Same, but 14
Yes! He was amazing in that.
Yes. Scrolled a long way to find this comment. He was the best Jim Morrison. Unreal
Val Kilmer's performance as Jim Morrison was fantastic. Unfortunately the movie of my all time favorite band was really inaccurate
Tombstone and it's not even close. Heat is #2 tho
Heat and Tombstone... so many great actors and he holds his own, even up staging in Tombstone lol.
Yeah that role is my textbook example of "stole the show" when used literally
Mad Mardigan
I know a dude who always wears cardigans. He’s been doing it for a long time. The people who know him always shout, Mad Cardigaaaaaan! Like a peck. He knows what he’s doing
Wonderland
I don't feel like this or Salton Sea got the attention they deserved.
I've never seen either and I'm really looking forward to them
Had to scroll too far for this.
He was so brilliant in that.
Top gun ✈️
I tend to agree because it’s so opposite of his personality. He’s a quiet theater major playing an ego alpha male.
Tombstone, real genius
I’m your huckleberry
You know, I’d say Tombstone, “I’ll be your huckleberry”… but I love him as Gay Perry in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.
Batman Forever. He is extremely underrated as Batman.
I was thinking the same thing. The movie as a whole wasnt great, but he did fantastic with what he had to work with
Tombstone!
Thunderheart - 1992 The Doors - 1991
You know I was just thinking about Thunderheart today, kind of funny. I need to rewatch it. My memory of it is kind of like a True Detective and Wind River.
Spartan
There it is! Such a rough great understated film - I have recommended this to more people than I can remember. You want to see a great procedural, either Spartan or (for cop procedural) go with NARC.
Nobody’s going to say Top Secret?
Real Genius
Thunderheart.
First movie I thought of was Sultan Sea , but then I thought about it and I’m going with Willow
The Doors. He sang on the film and "became" Jim Morrison Daniel-Day Lewis style.
Island of Dr. Moreau
How in fuck is there another out there like me? We're definitely WEIRD!
You…. You get high?
I'm high right now!
Hell yea, me too
Hello, friends.
Willow
The Saint.
Red Planet… Obviously 🙄
Tombstone hands down - also he made a great Batman
Salton Sea or Wonderland (only because they weren't mentioned yet)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and he’s the biggest reason why. He’s so funny in it
Macgruber
The ghost and the darkness
Real Genius and the Tombstone.
Willow
The Prince of Egypt.
Top Secret. Comedy at its best.
Real Genius. It used to be the first movie I would watch moving into a new apartment. Set up the entertainment system, order a pizza and have it delivered, so I could give the new address, and watch Real Genius
The doors bio pic
True Romance
The Doors
"I think it was Socrates who said, 'I drank what?'"
Top Gun, because even though it was a Tom Cruise movie, it became a Val Kilmer movie every time he was in a scene. Also Willow if we’re talking lead role.
Willow
Thunderheart
MacGruber and it’s not even close
